Eve Rabi’s "Obsessed With Me" opens with the hero, Tarago, telling an old joke to his friends:
Q: “What’s the difference between a bitch and a slut?”
A: “A slut will fuck anyone, while the bitch will fuck anyone…but you.”
Then a few pages later he regales them with another one:
Q: “A bruino (a coloured man), a charro (Indian man) and a peckio (black man) are in a car? Whose [sic] driving?"
A: “The cops!”
So right away you know what you’re in for. This is not your average hero. Tarago is a “sexist, politically incorrect, arrogant, male chauvinistic pig…loud, obnoxious and a moron with a penchant for women and whisky” who loves guns and booze and partying. Tanin is a waitress who works at Tarago's restaurant.
The standard crazy obsession trope begins, where the hero wants the heroine and is willing to use any means necessary to get her into his bed, because she’s so different from all the trashy whores he’s been with. It’s a story done over and over, but Rabi puts a twist on this by making Tarago a racist Afrikaner and Tanin is an Indian-South African living in 1993 South Africa.
It’s strange to see the racism dealt with so bluntly, taking a look from all sides in a very painful yet funny manner. There are lots of jokes in here. Plus, Tarago really is an oaf, yet somehow it’s oddly charming. He declares Tanin’s looks merit a five out of ten, and then uses that as a pet name for her: “Fyv.”
Tarago blackmails and manipulates Tanin into his bed, secretly marries her and brings her to his “Party Manor” (really, that’s what the plaque at the gates reads) to live with his siblings and collection of sexy blondes. Although Tarago seems menacing, he is just a big buffoon. Tanin derides his partying ways, describing him as “His face is red, his shirt is open to reveal a hairy chest, and his eyes are bloodshot. He looks a mess to me...Tarago sings with his hands in the air, looking like the moron he is.” At first, Tanin has no respect or appreciation for the dumb racist lug. When they’re in bed, she thinks of her ex fiancé. Eventually he wins her over, and they both change as their feelings for each other grow.
Tanin is a terrific heroine; while her situation is bizarrely surreal, she’s pleasantly down-to-earth. She deals with cheating boyfriends, backstabbing friends, hostile servants, and racists from all sides with humor, poise and great empathy.
Obsession is actually two books, but one story, as book one ends on a cliffhanger where book two immediately picks off. I agree with the reader who said they that they should be reviewed as one book. Together the two books total up about 340 pages, the length of one novel.
Bearing that in mind, Tarago’s characterization suffers from the first book to the second. In book one, he’s awesome, a wild party animal, a brute beast of a man who can be summed up as:

But in book 2, an accident turns him into this:
“Go fok yourself!”
I’ve read a few self-published books in the last couple of years, and while some stories have engaged me, the writing is generally so clunky that it’s a turn off from the plot. Here, yes, the books are filled with typos, grammatical errors, improper conjugation and, weirdly, after each foreign word is spoken the English is provided in parenthesis (which is helpful at first, but then gets annoying), but it doesn’t bother me, because the story really is that unique. At least Book 1 is.
Book 2 gets a bit flaccid. I really didn’t care for Tarago after 30% through. In the first book, he was so vital and domineering, but and in the second he just does whatever the other woman wants him to do. Events that should have emotional depth to them are rushed. The end gets confusing and the resolution is too quick and convenient to be believable. Not that much of this story is believable. But regardless, it’s been a long time since I last stayed up all night just to finish a book (two books in this case).
For me, part 1 is a 5 star read, it really is that engaging. Part 2 however, takes the hero and bites off his balls and puts them in the other woman’s pocket, so it’s a 3 star read just for Tanin . It’s difficult for me to rate the books properly then, so I’ll split the difference and officially rate each book 4 stars, but part 1 is much, much better than part 2.

I didn't know what two was going to be about because one ended on a good note but I liked the drama more in this book than the first. The only bad thing is the ending was rushed. And I like epilogues. Still I. Glad I gave it a go even if it was cheesey.

Dang Tarago turned into a big freaking wuss in this book. No balls at all!!!!! Tanin was more man than Tarago, and she was pretty silly through most of the story. She forgave him so easily after all he allowed to happen and all she went through. What In The World?!
This book had me so pissed, but it was still good at the same time. There is a special little gift that made me keep reading. Can't talk about it because it will ruin the story for the next person.

I liked the first book 10x better than this one. I struggled with this story. I really did. Just ok. It seemed to take a long time to catch Hanlie doing the bad things she had done. Time passed by very quickly and I would have appreciated some insight to Tarago's thoughts.

Based on the title, why did this book turn out the way it did? How did the heroine turn into the villain? This hero was one of the biggest A-holes I have ever read in a book. He blackmailed her into becoming his "mistress", humiliated, threatened, and did everything for revenge simply because she would not have a drink with him! But she winds up in jail and has her child taken away? And still wants him? In what universe is this OK? The book started out fine, but took a serious turn in the second half. I will not be reading this again. I was going to try the "Gringa" series, but I think I will skip that one...

Everything was OK until the ending. Really, Tarago needed to grovel (big time), Tanin needed to play a little harder to get and I wanted Hanlie to suffer more.......maybe a scene of her in jail. And what happened to her mom?

A little disappointed with how the ending was wrapped up so quickly and neatly but it was still a good quick read. I wanted to strangle Tarago for the way he treated Tanin in the beginning and if a book makes you want to strangle imaginary people then it must be good.
As a linguistics geek I loved all the Afrikaans in the books. Major bonus for me.

Great series.
I could give this book five stars, it us a real good book and a great storyline. The love of Tarago and Tanin is wonderful and complex... well written and all. However, readers like to know little details such as: was tarago really racist? He was seen with both groups ... what was the relationship like for him and his "niece" Hanlie? Even though, she was kind of blackmailing him, did they sleep together? He I s a monogamy guy after all. Tarago pov just in one chapter would explain a lot of things. Anyway, the book is a page turner, full of humor. Here is a little excerpt of it:
“There’s this chick, Tracy,” he says, gesturing like he’s holding a football or something. “Is she special?” “Nah, she just gives good blow jobs when she removes her false teeth.” He puckers

OMG I really hate this book and author.
Let me start by saying that I've read this book and the 1st book. I don't really say alot about the books I read. I do if I like the book then it's just a couple of lines.
The first book took me a couple of weeks to read. I was very busy and these books are like a drug and I was feaning with withdrawals couldn't get enough of these books. I hate that this is the first time reading Eve Rabi books but it will not be the last. I'm so tired cause I read the the whole book in a day and a half.
I loved the kick ass female character I just love these books .

Again second time reading because I didn't remember it and apparently never gave it a rating. This book has holes all over the place and no closure. Tanin forgave too easily. As for Tarago for him being such a big deal arms dealer he has no sense either. Where are the investigators that he should keep on payroll? Why would he give a random prostitute POA over his household and affairs? He didn't even know they were related. What happened with Suzzete? Just no.

This series was it for me! I genuinely loved everything about this book. It had love, heartache, misery, sorry, joy, hope, forgiveness, second chances and happiness all in one amazing package. This book was a rollercoaster of emotions and I personally didn't want the ride to end!!!! A job amazing!y well done Eve. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE do some more BWWM series novels, I will most definitely be a first buy. You now have a fan for life.

Wow Tanin went to jail while Tarago go through with feeling he can't trust nobody from his accident. Tanin made a big mistake with a strange about Tarago now she has to love with the consequence and maybe losing her husband and lover now she realizes he mean more to her.
Wow Tanin went to jail while Tarago go through with feeling he can't trust nobody from his accident. Tanin made a big mistake with a strange about Tarago now she has to love with the consequence and maybe losing her husband and lover now she realizes he mean more to her.

Wow a tear jerkier
What a second part, it just goes from bad to worse for Tanin and her life is ruined. I cried a few tears for her. I actually would have liked a longer ending, as everything was so bleak that the ending could have been longer to give a bit more balance. Well written and edited. Kindle Unlimited book.

I absolutely loved this book. Reading it was like pigging out on a box of chocolates, without the sugar hangover. There's not a dull moment, the characters are all fantastic, and the ending is absolutely perfect in every way.

What a twist... cruelly captivating again! I first read it long ago but the story really stayed with me all these years, and I go back to it time and again! Well written, a plot well told.

These two books could have been great. But fail. I mean what more do romance readers want than something different? This had it but it missed several beats that it set us up for but never fleshed out. The hero is cruel and racist (or is he?). He does business with a group the equivalent of the KKK; yet gives donations in support of the upcoming black government (all the while telling his non-white secret wife that he only dragged her along to the meeting as a token.) He hides their marriage so no one will know, yet in the second book does an about face but we're not told why. The missed opportunity would have been to reveal to us, the reader, that he is a Zorro type character: telling racist jokes to throw off the white villains from his work to overthrow apartheid. (Or even his new found love for the heroine would have been acceptable.) It is also not fully explained - at least not to my satisfaction - how he could allow "the love of his life- to go to jail (especially when the first book shows him having power (by way of money) to manipulate the judicial system to his wishes). Why was he so susceptible to his "niece's charms? Why is the truth that she is his niece (although bent on marrying him) never revealed to him?
Most of all, why does he go along with the heroine's baby being taken from her? So we never really learn who this man is.
He is uber cruel strong in the first book and a super wuss yet still cruel in the second. This cannot be attributed to his "accident" because when he was still at his worst physical condition, he comforted the heroine and took care of the assassins himself! He accepted the heroine's explanation and forgave her. Yet he allows her to go to prison and takes their child away from her. If the given reason were true, he should have been afraid for their daughter to even be in the same house as his niece and allowed the child to go to its grandmother's house.
The book has all these unanswered inconsistencies and it feels as if the author was told that the "second book is running long so wrap it up" without explaining. Sure, I can make up my own fill-in-the-gaps, but that's what I pay the author to do when I buy their books. I can use my own imagination to create stories for free!
The biggest sin of all for this type of novel - lack of steam in the love scenes. Yes, it has them and it's somewhat explicit, but there is no heat.

I am reviewing both book 1 and book 2 in this post because you CANNOT read one without the other. The first one has a 50 Shades-worthy ending and I didn’t even pause as I opened the second book…..
Eve tells stories that are so extreme you will not be able to put them down!
Wow is about all I could utter when I finished these two books! That is a great wow, by the way! Eve Rabi has a very extreme way of telling a story that compels you to read EVERY LAST WORD.
In book 1 Tanin works for her rude, crude, racist jerk of a boss as a waitress in his restaurant. He is known to pick a waitress for drinks each evening, which sometimes lasts for a few days…. One night he decides he wants Tanin, but Tanin is dating the love of her life and not interested in the big brute’s awful ways. She turns him down (rather politely, I thought), and he says essentially “No problem!” and chooses another girl. Tanin is relieved, but unfortunately that is short-lived….
The antics of the characters in this book will have you cracking up, and the glimpses into the real people behind the public persona (*cough* Tarago *cough*) will have you turning page after page for what happens next.
At the end of book 1 I was shouting “NOOOOO!” and scrambling to get into book 2. Trust me when I tell you to have it bought and ready……
When all is said and done I would recommend this set of books to one and all. The adrenaline rush craziness is just so much fun to read! I can’t wait to read more by Eve Rabi (in fact, you will soon also see my review of YOU WILL PAY!)

4 1/2 stars!! I coulld keep reading and reading about this couple. Tanin and Tarago are one of my all time favorite couples. This book had a little mind-fucking going on and I LOVED IT! Tanin and Torago reunite and they are just so sweet together that I caught myself smiling (a lot) while reading and their relationship was very comical. There were some definite LOL moments. It was funny to see Torago integrate himself into her family and how the tables were turned when it came to racism and the way he handled himself was classy, yet hilarious. Tanin and Torago finally admit to their love for each other, but then Tanin's backstabbing ex comes back into the picture, to try to break them up. To top it all off, assassins are trying to kill Torago and eventually Tanin's life is shattered and she's sent to jail. I was seriously trying not to cry as she grieves for Torago while incarcerated and how a crazed new woman steps into Tanin's old life and tries to take Torago. I kept reading thinking, oh my God, this is going to be one of those books that doesn't have a happy ending and I'm going to be pissed. There's no way things can turn around, but turn around they did. Tanin and Torago could never deny thier feelings for one another and their love and trust was what brought them back from the brink of destruction. Another great book by Eve Rabi!! Awesome story telling and characters. I'm looking forward to reading more books by this author.

Since the moment I started the book I couldn't put it down. Didn't went to sleep until I finished it, which was at 5:16 a.m.
The first book left us with a cliffhanger. With Tanin in the back seat of a police car. This second book picks up the story right where the first one ended.
We get a huge surprise right after Tanin was arrested. I wasn't waiting for him to give her a chance so quickly. I thought he was going to let her suffer a little bit more.
What I liked the most was to read the changes in Tarago’s character. Mostly the way he acted with Tanin. In the first book we see that in front of everyone he made fun of her.
The appearances was really important to him, because it could affect his business. In this one we see him being sweet and caring towards Tanin. In front of people and alone.
Eve you have a talent to make me suffer with the male protagonist of your stories. The first one was Diago, after that was Trojan and now with Tarago.
Loved the story! There are so many emotions in this one. I smiled, I laughed, I giggled and I shed a few tears ... well more like a lot!!
There are some twists and surprises in this second part, so be prepare.

The book was interesting and entertaining but I didn't like the direction the story went. I will try to give a review without giving too much away. That will be hard. So Stop now if you don't want to know!!! I hated this book. I loved this first book. What happened to the Taragon from them first book. Claim the accident all you want but tigers tend to turn rabid when injured not turn into lap dogs. Then allow some woman to control him for three years. His behavior toward Tanin was appalling. I liked him better as the racist pig from the first book. The guy in the first book knew she loved him and knew what she did at the accident. He never would of abandoned her and Clover to that hell hole because he was depressed. He never would of let that woman blackmail him. Everyone blamed Tanin and told her she should forgive him it was her fault. Really?! Did people forget what he did to her in the first place? Anyone in their right mind would of killed him in his sleep!! Big bad alpha obsessed Taragon turned into a submissive kitten in this book. Tanin should of run the other direction. I liked her better in book one as well. Very disappointed. Everyone in this book had a personality transplant!

In a drunken stupor, she made a stupid mistake. In fact, it was one that she hardly remembered. She hired someone to kill her husband. But that was before she really knew him, before she saw what was in his heart. They were blissfully happy until the Christmas that changed everything.
She watched in horror as her husband's car was forced off the road. Her tears fell when he didn't want her by his side as he endured physical therapy to regain the use of his legs. He had her arrested and then when she discovered she was pregnant, he refused to have anything to do with her or their child.
Alone and in prison, she must face her pregnancy and the consequences of her actions alone. He wasn't by her side when their daughter was born and then when she had made plans for her mother to raise her child, Tarago took their child away from her.

THIS BOOK!
Tarago i do not believe is actually a racist, just isn't completely familiar with people from other cultural backgrounds, in the first book. Tanin, does however learn more about him and is able to see him for who he really is in the end of the first book and mostly in this book, even though there are a lot of rough patches that seem to go through in this book, they are able to find their way back to each other and know that they still love each other even though they were put through so much. this was an awesome read and even better than the first one. i completely am in love with the characters and do wish that there will be more books to come!
most defiantly a page turner, keeps you on edge with love, passion, drama and some humour. A must read !

if you want a book, that has you cringing, shouting at the characters and crying and laughing all at the same time then this is a book you need to read!
its not your usual safe little love story, its a consuming love story. i love this writer. there are so many twists and turns you just never know whats coming next. the characters, specially the alpha males have you loving and hating them at the same time, but the love wins.
i don't like to give away the story so much that it spoils things, so all i can say is
get these books, you won't regret it and you won't set it down till you have finished!

I absolutely hated book 1 but had purchased then both at the same time based on a review. I did enjoy book 2 but I still struggle with how they got together, the amount of pain they went through and how they separated, only to get back together again. I'm not sure if love is so supposed to hurt you, leave you destroyed and bereft. You never get that time back. While some may consider the ending to be a happy one, I'm not sure whether it was worth the journey. Torn.

This second book of the Obsessed with Me series has way more drama, blackmailing, and hatred then the first book.
The craziness of the secondary characters and the weird relationship between the hero and heroine definitely kept me hooked to this book. Let me just say I was floored at the turn of events in the relationship between Tanin (heroine) and Tarago (hero) (but I'm not spoiling things here).
The writing of the author was definitely different from most of the authors that I have read, but that is what made this unique. I would read more from this author.

As always Eve Rabi's book are not for everyone. If you like dark, gritty and unconventional romance reads then you'll enjoy her books but if not I don't recommend reading it. Saying that, I immensely enjoyed reading this one!
The events that happened in this book were totally unexpected, you just don't know what's going to happen next. I loved how the character's developed and how the story was wrapped up. Overall, I'm really happy with how everything turned out in the end!
