Many may be familiar with Captain Underpants, but how many know about the creation of Super Diaper Baby? Neo pulls me into this adventure, permitting me to shelve my preconceived notions of what might entertain the next generation of readers. After the Hoskinses have a little baby, a freak accident at the hospital instils superpowers into this little one. That same accident turns Deputy Dangerous into his sworn enemy. Trying to win back the baby's powers, Deputy and his sidekick, Danger Dog, befall a few issues of their own. Will good trump evil yet again? *cue cheesy music* Neo laughed out loud many times and loved the "quick flips" found at the end of each chapter. An interesting intro to the world of comics and Underpants branch-offs.

Dav Pilkey is a witty writer and followers of the Captain Underpants series already knew that. In this spin-off, there are undeniably funny scenes and names such as Starbutts and Deputy Doo-doo. If you want a good laugh, you must read this series as well as the author's other works. This is categorized under children's books, but I reckon that this is more appropriate for readers 12 and above.

Before you assume I regressed to that of an eight-year-old boy's maturity level, know that I have a special eight-year-old boy in my life who begs me every night to read to him. Based on the company alone I would have rated the book five stars. But there is a lot of potty humor ("Deputy Doo-Doo") and fart jokes, and under Aspiring Teacher Quibbles, I'm placing the issue of purposefully misspelled words. Grr! I constantly trip up because I know what the word is, but it's written out how it sounds, rather than how it is actually spelled. Then I have the pleasure of a third-grader correcting me. Sigh. Overall, it was a fun dabble into a well-illustrated graphic novel for children.

It was a great book and everything, but i think the villain turning into a radioactive giant piece of poo is a bit far. It did have fun characters and a great plot though, I would read it again.

Dav Pilkey is a children's literature genius. From beginning to end, as a child I have loved the Captain Underpants series, and now reading the spin-off Super Diaper Baby, I am still brought to tears of laughter as I turn each page.

Let me begin by saying this: I read this book not solely for entertainment/recreation, but with a critical eye in the likes of suggesting children's literature to parents.

Dav is a master story-teller. It is the way he writes, the style of his illustrations and the choice of words that makes Super Diaper Baby so viable for children. Pilkey makes sure his characters don't come off as an adult talking to a child about what a child is (which, let's face it, nearly 100% of children's literature books are). His stories don't come off as overtly moralizing, even though they do have some moral concepts intertwined within them (the book at hand is about good citizenship for the community).

Super Diaper Baby is so genius because it's written from a child's point of view. A comic written by Pilkey's well known characters George and Harold, the book is written the way a child would write. Therefore, children who read this book will relate to it.

I have known parents and teachers who especially hate and despise the books (especially Diaper Baby) and won't let their students read them because of the grammatical errors. I completely disagree. I think that students will learn from the grammar Pilkey uses. If I were a teacher, I would make this story mandatory reading, go through and find all of the grammar errors and correct them.

Either way, Super Diaper Baby is just another amazing story by an amazing story teller. The adventures that Super Diaper Baby and his dog will literally make you "Laff" out loud.

Dav Pilkey for life. My son is the opposite of a reluctant reader, but I love that these easy-to-read, very funny, very gross books exist for kids who might have a harder time focusing or reading (and to be clear, my son loves Pilkey's books...that's why I read this one, I wasn't just reading Super Diaper Baby all on my own). I also love that he includes so many digs at things like book banning and standardized testing and, in another book, Fox News. I know there are some parents out there who hate on these books because of the poop jokes and the constant misspellings, but I like them. I also love Junie B Jones. So sue me!

This book is hilarious. I am still wiping the tears from eyes.

It is entirely in comic book form and written by two kids (although in teeny tiny print, Dav Pilkey tries to take all the credit.) The only thing I don't like is that their spelling is atrocious. I gess I am a purfekshionist.

When we finished, my son said he wants book number two. (Wait, or was this Book Number Two? Tee hee. Tee hee. You have to read the book to get the joke.) Anyway, he wants to keep giving our money to Dav Pilkey......

This is the very last book we own by Dav Pilkey. Out of the three series we own this is my least favorite. The villain of this story is an evil cowboy that turns into a huge turd. Not exaggerating. Captain Underpants has a cameo.

I don’t want to hate on this series just yet. There is a book 2. However, I didn’t find this first story to be unique or funny. I love potty humor, but this one was pretty lame.

Stick to Captain Underpants or Dogman where there is character growth and good morals.

This was just absolutely hilarious! I loved it! Set up as one of the comics that George and Harold are always writing it starts off with the two of them getting in trouble with Mr. Krupp who assigns them an essay but tells them they cannot write one of their offensive Captain Underpants comics. Soooo, they invent a new superhero, Super Diaper Baby, and give a rollicking, laugh-out-loud comic. The whole book is written in graphic novel format and toilet humour abounds, much more so than in the Captain Underpants series, but that's ok. I thought it was plain silly and all in good fun. There are a couple of jokes that are there simply for the parent who will be reading this aloud that got a good guffaw from me. Captain Underpants fans will love this and now I'm off to read the sequel! Great fun read!

That’s 5 year old for 5 stars.
Actually she said she would give it 23 stars. (We’re still working on understanding the 5 star review system.)
What was your favorite part?
“When he turned into a poop because that’s silly. And the best part is when super diaper baby turned into a super hero.”
What did you like the least about it?
“When they got out of jail.”

It is amazing that I read it many times but still can get enough of it! I really like this book because it describes many things at the same time. Comedy, action, laughs, and many more. I would definitely recommend this to other people to read.

I don’t know why this book was on our shelf but Kaharau chose it for his bedtime story tonight. I expected a lot of toilet humour (which there was) but I was surprised and delighted when (spoiler alert) Deputy Dangerous tried to take diaper baby’s powers but actually turned himself into a poo lol

The Adventures of Super Baby by George Beard and Harold Hutchins is a funny book and great for fans of Dog Man, Captain Underpants, and graphics novels. I baby gets a spank of life something happened to get through out a window. Something happen that he get super powers. Stop a bad guy, than a nurse comes to put a diaper on he and he flew her back up to the room his mom and dad are in.
