When adolescence kicked in, so did full-on rebellion. School, family and church fell by the wayside as Tracy partied too hard with the wrong people. Somehow surviving her wild-child phase, she pursued several careers before finally settling on video production and writing.

If you are familiar with Tracy St. John's Kalquor series, then this is an exciting addition. If you are not familiar with her work, then this is a great place to start. Please be aware that Tracy St. John writes erotica--specializing in BDSM. If that offends you then don't complain about those elements if you choose to purchase her books.
Shalia is living in a post apocalyptic world where women are second class citizens and sex outside marriage is against the law and punishable by torture and death. In Shalia's Diary we follow a woman who is trying desperately to survive and also care for her mentally and physically ill mother. The book offers us a glimpse into Shalia's fears, hopes, and sexual exploration with a group of Alien men called Kalquorians.
We follow Shalia from when she is running and hiding in fear all the way to when she is starting to have feelings for the Aliens who have inadvertently destroyed Earth. Shalia shares her all these feelings through her diary, which we read as if we have stumbled across it by accident.
Tracy is a master of world building and is an expert at creating characters that live and breathe. This book only shares the first portion of Shalia's story.

Where do I start?
Did I enjoy this book? Some of it Yes, some not so much.
This story is both gripping and horrifying, and there were places I just could not put it down. It was incredibly well written and despite the fact that I'm not a big fan of BDSM I found those scenes ok and they didn't take away from the story. There is just one huge thing I just could not overlook.

I just love the way this book was written and by what I have seen from reviews and the storyline from the other books in the series,,,, well no one is giving away who Shalia’s love intrest will be,,, so here I go 12 books in this series 1 down 11 to go 🥰🥰

Fills in the missing parts of the series
I wasn't expecting to like this book about a woman moving from one clan to another. I'm still not sure I'll like that part when it happens, but so far the story is filling in the missing points from the Klarquor series. We find out what like was like between book 3-4 and it helps make the events more understandable. I also think we see more of the misunderstandings between early Earther and clan interactions which are engaging and lead to a much more robust story than we've experienced in books 7-9. I do think the sex scenes are well done of a woman trying to find her own sexuality in an alien species. They are a but over the top but that's ok I. Ought the book knowing what I was getting into. I'm a little put off by the fact that I think the Klarquorians are a little too dominating for a woman taught her whole like to fear men who demand things from her, but I'll suspend that reality. It's a really good story, and despite putting off reading it for two years now, I'll be buying the next book. Note that this story is free through the authors website but you have to sift through hundreds of blog entries...it's less jarring to just. By the story than read it in two page segments; but it's out there if you want it free.

Another entry in St. John's "Kalquor" series.
Done as a series of diary entries, it fills in some back story about pre-Armageddon Earth. Shalia and her mother are rescued by the Kalquorians after Shalia gets sick trying to elude them. She's terrified at first, but gradually comes to realize that the Kalquorians can be trusted, and are trying to help surviving 'Earthers.'
In an interesting departure from earlier stories, there's no 'clanning.' Instead, Shalia falls in lust with her rescuer, Dusa, and his Nobek Esak, as well as the base commander, Nang. There's lots and lots and lots of hot sex, along with some commentary on the nature of religion and government.
It ends rather abruptly, but there's info about a link to further diary entries in a blog, which I haven't read yet.
It's a quick fun read...so 3 stars.

I've always found the Kalquor books to be a nice light read, hugely entertaining for the most part, and never really felt any background in the tale was missing.
I still don't, however now that the blanks are being filled, I'm intrigued by the background details. It makes the original stories fuller somehow and the fact that the historical insights provided by the new Kalquor books is less fluffy and more a slap on humanity's wrist ...albeit an entertaining one...is really appreciated.
This particular book is a very interesting read in the diary format and I hope for more similar installations. I like the different approach and the "feelings" that seem to be heightened in this format.

Although it is not a bad start for someone to understand the kalquorian universe, I suggest you start with "Alien Embrace" which is the book that started everything (although it is not the best in the series).
Anyway, this book is good, Shalia is very likable, a real survivor. The end is not very smooth but that's because there are at least 5 more book about Shalia. There is a blog about her ongoing adventures.

This is the first part of an ongoing blog that the author has of a story. She updates it twice a weak and its about this woman on Earth after Armageddon and her situation and life told from her point of view. If you are a big Clans of Kalquor this is for you. It gives me my weekly fix until her next Clans of Kalquor book comes out.

Both good and a bit... silly. I liked many of the concepts, was exasperated by others. That shalia didn't seem to feel guilty about the videos she produced, knowing they were fiction, but did feel guilty about something she had no control over or ability to change wad irritating. The diary entry style of writing isn't my favorite, but it was pretty well done.

I really enjoyed reading this book. At first I didn't think I would like it because of aliens being in it but I was proved wrong. I really liked how the author described everything. Awesome book!

A variant on the 'human woman ends up in the hands of alien man/men' plot ( + dystopia) with some nice writing and an actual plot, plus concern about person with one chronic medical condition. Free on KU when I got it.

A great start to what promises to be a very exciting adventure for one spunky, sarcastic, tragic heroine. I quite enjoyed the perspective this story was written from; that being the diary entries of a life renewed and a woman reborn. I can't wait to see what awaits this little earther female!

Shalia’s diary was a very creative conception. To hear the Kalquor war from the pages of an earth woman’s diary was a unique approach. It was well done. Many times it felt as if I was reading entries from someone’s diary.
