Adventurous little Tashi is granted three wishes after encountering a sly genie hiding in an old bowl, in this fourth installment of the Tashi series. Both Tashi and his friend Jack are flabbergasted, however, when Tashi’s wishes don't quite turn out as he hopes, leaving Tashi face to face with the evil warlord he escaped in his very first adventure. This time the warlord has captured children, and in order to rescue them, Tashi needs to stay one step ahead of the villain's devious plans. Tashi’s cleverness will ultimately triumph, teaching young readers about the advantage of brains over brawn.
Anna Fienberg grew up in a house filled with books. Her mother was a teacher librarian who relished stories as much as chocolates. 'On Sunday mornings we'd all lie in bed with our books, lost in magical wardrobes, witches’ spells, genies’ magic… What we were going to read next was just as important in our family as what was for lunch!' says Anna.
Anna started writing stories when she was eight, but never imagined being an author. She studied psychology, fascinated by the dark world of dreams. She gave up counseling after an unfortunate incident with an enraged man and a chair (he missed!), began writing and scored the best job in the world. 'Working for School Magazine was a treat,' Anna says. 'I couldn't believe you could get paid for sitting back comfortably in your chair, cappuccino in hand, reading over a thousand books a year. Heaven!' Of course, as an editor she also had to write reviews and articles, stories and plays. One of those stories for School Magazine later became her first book.
I love these books. I bought book one and three for my granddaughter for Christmas. She asked me for more books in the series. Now I have book two and four to give her. She'll love them - it was like this.
Jack loves to hear the stories Tashi tells him. In this story, Tashi finds a lazy genie and is granted three wishes. He doesn't get exactly what he wants, especially when he asks to meet his Uncle Tiki Pu, who'd left to live in the city. The next story is about Tashi and the stolen children. The warlord takes the children to control the young men he'd pressed into his army. The children were in his castle dungeon. Tashi knew the castle and was the only hope for the villagers to work out how to return them. Tashi manages to create a huge diversion and get them all to escape.
Anne and Barbara Fienberg create delightful banter in the prose which is brilliantly illustrated by Kim Gamble.
I have been taken in by Tashi and find the series adorable. How could you not? Great little stories and always that hook where you are trying to find the next one. Tashi rules!
Чудатите приключения на едно малко момче, което все успява да се забърка в някакви каши! Хареса ми, че имаше много фентъзи елементи и красиви илюстрации, които придаваха живот на самите истории.
