This book was clearly written as a fundraiser for the construction of a national monument for police officers killed in the line of duty and consists almost entirely of the stories of some of those people, including how they got involved on police work. They also tell the stories of surviving family members, friends and colleagues who have to find ways to carry on without them. They also touch on what it's like to be in law enforcement and kill someone on the job -- a story very rarely told. Well worth your time.

Evem though a little outdated for what was intended, it's a very good read on the lives of Police Officers giving the "Ultimate Sacrifice."
