The Berlin Wall by Pierre Galante
The Berlin Wall by Pierre Galante is about just having faith and to do what you can to make it through. As a family watches "A wall to last a thousands years." (Galante, p181) get built they slowly lose their freedom. Harry Seidel and his wife and four month old child and family and friends all together sticked by each others sides. They face the fact that they are on the east side of Berlin. The man Harry Sediel does what he can to get to the other side of Berlin like the many other Berliners on the east side. They struggle to stay together as a family for when he has to go to the other side for work. They set up a plan to get the family over to the other side. Harry Sediel does what he can he makes tunnels under the wall to the other side. He has hope that his family and many others on the east side of Berlin can make it through the tunnels he digs so they can have a better life. As his actions to make sure their life is good and he keeps his hopes up and does what he can to survive in Berlin,Germany. His actions and others reveal they are willing to have faith in Harry and to help them get over to West Berlin.
This book was really good it had me in the first pages. I would recommend this book to anyone that loves reading about history and that likes to learn new thing that have happened in other parts of the world. A connection I made with this book is like when the wall was being built and families got separated due to the wall. It reminds me of like when I would move to a different state and my grandma wants in same state anyone and it would be like as if someone as to put a wall up and separated my grandma and I.
