Friedrich Wilhelm Nietzsche was a German classical scholar, philosopher, and critic of culture, who became one of the most influential of all modern thinkers. He began his career as a classical philologist before turning to philosophy. He became the youngest person to hold the Chair of Classical Philology at the University of Basel in 1869 at the age of 24, but resigned in 1879 due to health problems that plagued him most of his life; he completed much of his core writing in the following decade. In 1889, at age 44, he suffered a collapse and afterward a complete loss of his mental faculties, with paralysis and probably vascular dementia. He lived his remaining years in the care of his mother until her death in 1897 and then with his sister Elisabeth Förster-Nietzsche. Nietzsche died in 1900, after experiencing pneumonia and multiple strokes.
Nietzsche's work spans philosophical polemics, poetry, cultural criticism, and fiction while displaying a fondness for aphorism and irony. Prominent elements of his philosophy include his radical critique of truth in favour of perspectivism; a genealogical critique of religion and Christian morality and a related theory of master–slave morality; the aesthetic affirmation of life in response to both the "death of God" and the profound crisis of nihilism; the notion of Apollonian and Dionysian forces; and a characterisation of the human subject as the expression of competing wills, collectively understood as the will to power. He also developed influential concepts such as the Übermensch and his doctrine of eternal return. In his later work, he became increasingly preoccupied with the creative powers of the individual to overcome cultural and moral mores in pursuit of new values and aesthetic health. His body of work touched a wide range of topics, including art, philology, history, music, religion, tragedy, culture, and science, and drew inspiration from Greek tragedy as well as figures such as Zoroaster, Arthur Schopenhauer, Ralph Waldo Emerson, Richard Wagner, Fyodor Dostoevsky, and Johann Wolfgang von Goethe.
After his death, Nietzsche's sister Elisabeth became the curator and editor of his manuscripts. She edited his unpublished writings to fit her German ultranationalist ideology, often contradicting or obfuscating Nietzsche's stated opinions, which were explicitly opposed to antisemitism and nationalism. Through her published editions, Nietzsche's work became associated with fascism and Nazism. 20th-century scholars such as Walter Kaufmann, R.J. Hollingdale, and Georges Bataille defended Nietzsche against this interpretation, and corrected editions of his writings were soon made available. Nietzsche's thought enjoyed renewed popularity in the 1960s and his ideas have since had a profound impact on 20th- and early 21st-century thinkers across philosophy—especially in schools of continental philosophy such as existentialism, postmodernism, and post-structuralism—as well as art, literature, music, poetry, politics, and popular culture.

Nietzsche is well recognized as a great philosopher, but we know less about him as a poet. In my eyes, there is a lot of rubbish in all these poems. I liked some poems from my youth. In the "Dithyrambs," I found more breath and flashes of genius, but I have only hung with a tiny number of these texts.

Nietzsche's Chorlieder auf den griechischen Gott Dionysos sind von unglaublich anmutiger und für mich persönlich holdseliger Natur. Nicht umsonst mein Lieblingsschriftsteller, glaubte ich bei allen seinen Werken stets einem mir im Geiste verwandten beim Denken zuzuschauen, obgleich er mich weit übersteigt, denn kein anderer Philosoph und Dichter hat mich so ausgiebig erleichtert, befreit und radikal verändert. Auch diese Dithyramben sind von hochfliegender Reinheit, Göttlichkeit.

Welch eine Einsicht in die tiefsten Abgründe unserer Existenz, unserer Wahrnehmungen und mit welcher Wortgewaltigkeit erhebt er die Gedanken hoch hinaus über das Alltägliche. In seinem Chorlied "Zwischen Raubvögeln" glaubte ich von meiner eigenen Entwicklung zu lesen, wenn die Worte fielen "Selbstkenner, Selbsthenker" - oh hier ist gewiß mehr zu verstehen als man gemeinhin glaubt. Wer wie Nietzsche sich so stark in sich selbst eingebohrt hat, zwischen hundert Erinnerungen und an jeder Wunde müd, der erst vermag ein Quantum einer raren Seele zu begreifen, der sich mit seiner überreifen Weisheit einen Strick band, welches jeden auf eine Insel zieht.

Oh nur wenige vermögen sich so tief in sich selbst einzuhöhlen, ein Selbsterkenner zu werden, um alle anderen zu erkennen. Ganz richtig sagt er, wer die schwerste Last sucht, findet sich selbst: eine dionysische Ekstase.

Bu kadar ünlü, sevilen ve popüler bir filozofun kitabına iki puan vermek beni üzdü elbette. Tanrıya yazdığı bir iki kısım hariç diğer yazılarını anlamadım. Boşa okuyormuşum gibi hissettim açıkçası. Diğer kitaplarını okumak isterim önerileriniz varsa alırım. Umarım diğer eserlerinde bu tarz bir yazıma karşı karşıya kalmam.

I'm terribly interested in Dionysos and Nietzsche so I grabbed this, but it did nothing to me.

I didn't know Nietzsche would write poetry. I'm not into poetry either but I could have a sneak into the world of Nietzsche through this. Randomly came across this and it was a nice experience reading it.

keşke okumasaydım. nietzsche'nin okuduğum iki kitabının yoğunluğundan sonra kendimi boşluğa düşmüş gibi hissettim.

aynı kalemden çıkan kelimeler ama çok cılız geliyor kulağa genel olarak. belki şiir tadında olması yüzündendir, bilemiyorum. şiiri hiçbir zaman sevemedim.

bazı yerlerde kendini hatırlatıyor ama yine de, ''bir kez daha kükre! ahlaklı kükre! ahlaklı bir aslan olarak çölün kızlarının önünde kükre!'' gibi bir alıntı vardı mesela. zerdüşt'ün esintilerini okuyorsun zaten aslında.

geçen senenin sonlarında ahmet inam'ı misafir etmiştik, -özellikle- felsefe eserlerini orjinal dilinde okumanın öneminden bahsetmişti uzun uzun. ''okuma yapmak'' istiyorsan almanca öğreneceksin demişti hatta.

An often overlooked and therefore underrated adjunct of Nietzsche's work. These poems are filled with as much verve as anything from Thus Spoke Zarathustra (some even follow directly in its footsteps). They also hearken back to the paganist views first expressed in The Birth of Tragedy. Only A Fool, Only A Poet is an easy favorite but there are other good ones too. This is a bilingual edition that features the original German on the left hand pages, making it an ideal book for language learners or any passionate polyglot. Lastly, introductory and appended notes go a long way toward providing context and clarifications. Proof positive that philosophy and poetry can play off one another rather nicely!

Suficiente breve para leer en una sentada. Me gustó el libro, algunos poemas particulares se destacan como muy buenos, pero esperaba una lectura más intensa como acostumbra Nietzsche. Por un tiempo el libro no mantiene un buen ritmo de emoción, cual se puede dejar pasar por su brevedad, pero por la misma queda el texto careciendo de más.

Genel olarak hoşuma gitse de Nietzsche'yi şair olarak çok başarılı bulmadım. Zaten anlaması zor bir düşünür bir de bunu şiir ile yapmaya kalktığında kendimi çok kaybolmuş buldum. Yine de çok beğenip altını çizdiğim birkaç yer oldu. "Ariadne'nin Yakınması" çok iyiydi, "Güneş Batıyor" da beğendiğim bir başka şiir oldu. Ariadne'nin karakterini severim orada bir de Dionysos'u görmek güzeldi. Dithyramb veya Dithyrambos denilen şey tiyatronun (daha çok tragedya) atası gibi bir şey. Bu şiir de bunu çok iyi anlatıyordu bence. Bir de bu kitap aslında Zerdüşt'ün ilk bölümlerinde yer alacakmış ama ayırmayı seçmiş. O yüzden bol bol Zerdüşt'ün adı da geçiyordu. Kitapta çok fazla 7 sayısını ve erguvan rengini kullanıyordu. Ben biraz araştırdım sebebini bulamadım ama bilen varsa aydınlatabilir beni de. Kısaca, güzel bir kitap ama çok büyük beklentileriniz olmasın. Nietzsche sevenlere öneririm, kendisini pek tanımıyorsanız daha bilinen kitaplarına yönelmeniz daha iyi olacaktır.

Όσοι λοιπόν, θεωρούν ότι η ποίηση είναι "εύκολο ανάγνωσμα" να μια καλή ευκαιρία να δοκιμάσουν την ορθότητα της άποψής τους.
Γενικα το γράψιμο του Νίτσε είναι βαθύ και καυτερό έτσι στην αρχή, πλανεμένη και γω από την προαναφερθείσα αντίληψη, θεωρησα πως θα μπορούσα να περατώσω με ευκολία ένα μικρο βιβλίο ποίησης 100 σελίδων. Κι όμως, καθένα από τα ποιήματα του κρύβει μέσα τόσα πολλά νοήματα που ο εγκέφαλος από μόνος του αρχίζει να αναλύει σε βάθος, ενώ εσύ ακολουθείς σε πλήρη υποταγή τους συνειρμούς του.
Το αγαπημένο μου είναι το Φθινόπωρο, και ναι συνιστώ σε όλους να προσπαθήσουν να το διαβάσουν.

I knew that Nietsche was cool and multitalented guy and stuff but no one told me that he was also a Poet. Well Poet whose complete peotic work can be put in one short book... but a great one.
Some peoms where just so intense... A traveler who speaks with bird and bird replies that he was not singing to him, that he was just tring to attract a female bird...
It was melancholic yet somehow pleasant reading. Most of poems were not outstanding but there were some really amazing and as a whole it was an interesting moving book.
