I could not read this entire book. It was just more of the same old Eve worship and I have grown very tired of that. I ended up reading the first few chapters, one chapter in the middle, the last two chapters and the epilogue and felt I didn't miss anything, really. All the characters, including Eve, are just too too much. They are exceptionally attractive in one way or another, all of them have very strong personalities and character traits, have above average intelligence and are extremely witty. And, other than Eve herself, they all fiercely worship Eve...to the point that they would lay down their lives for her. The storyline gets lost in this kind of over-the-top nonsense and the Eve worship has become the story. Johansen has taken what once was an enjoyable series and made it into a caricature of itself. I found myself growing more and more annoyed with this series, especially these last three books. When something annoys you more than it brings you pleasure, it's time to say goodbye. Which is what I am doing to the Eve Duncan series.

First let me say I normally love all of Ms. Johansen's books, but I really struggled to get through this last series and especially this last book. The first few books of the Eve Duncan series sucked me right in, but the series is getting a little too far out there for me. Throughout most of the Eve Duncan series there has been a ghost/spirit (Bonnie) and very far fetched characters. The characters were never overwhelming or left you with "I just want to flip through the next few pages and see if I can skip over that character." Now there is an animal whisperer, a blood manipulator, and a "Pysch" type character that just has great attention to detail. These bizarre characters are taking over the plot line. The characters and plot line are too unbelievable. The story lines used to leave me wanting more. I no longer impatiently await the release of the new book in the series. Over all "Silencing Eve" didn't do anything for me. I usually tear through a book in a few days. An Iris Johansen book I typically tear through in about 18 hours. This book took me 3 weeks to read. This series and this book fell terrible short.

Dear Iris Johansen,
Well, I have stuck with you through thick and thin, through the torture of searching (I do realize some parents wait for YEARS and never find their children, but this is fiction) and finally finding, Bonnie. At that point, I really thought you might wrap up your Eve Duncan series, but no, you continued to plow on. This brought us to this trilogy, with the final book called "Silencing Eve". I really thought this might be the final chapter -- all of the major players, both stars and "guest stars" were present, but alas, no, this series is not finished. However, I am. I cannot take this, any more.

My apologies to those who have told me they look forward to reading my reviews; I have been so busy that I have not taken the time to write a review in months.Of course, I have still found time to read and have managed to read two novels a week, so now, I will try to write brief reviews on each of them.

This is the last book in the Taking Eve trilogy. I love Johansen's work, but I have to say the last book of this trilogy seemed to drag on, which is something I am unaccustomed to finding in her work. It seemed that the story could have ended with a few more chapters added to the second book in the trilogy; but rather than doing that, a great deal of filler was added to this book.

I am not saying that the book was not well written, I am simply saying that I found myself wanting to skip to the last couple of chapters and forget about what went on in the middle of the book.

This wasn't as badly written and boring as the first two in this trilogy, although it was still quite overwritten, for instance with telephone use. If an author says a character calls someone, I don't need to know that she takes the phone out, accesses her contacts directory, finds the person's name, calls, listens to it ring, and then the other person answers.
I haven't given up entirely on Iris Johansen, but I'm not going to rush to get any of her books anymore. The Eve-Quinn-Bonnie trilogy wasn't great either; I'm not sure if her son is writing them with her (the one book I read by both of them was dreadful) or if she's just lost interest in the characters.
Honestly the most interesting part of this trilogy was the 3-part cover.

There were so many parts that made me want to cry. so much cruelty and evil done by humans. the plot was so real. the explosives, the murders, the sickness of the mind...... all too real. excellent as all of her books are. I feel Jane's pain and the love that Joe and Eve have doe each other.

This was by far the best book in the trilogy. It was fact paced, action packed and I read it in one sitting as soon as I downloaded it. I still hold my opinion that this series is going too much in the way of supernatural aspects, and find there to be too many supporting characters that keep jumping in to the action. In this book some of that served a purpose, but it makes me wary of future books. I am not sure if I will read the next book - it will depend on the plot and characters. The supernatural aspects are overtaking the plot and the initial storyline that was set-up. Part of me wonders if it is due to the initial storyline being resolved and the author needing to extend the series beyond it. Either way, I am not sure if this series is still for me, it will depend on what direction the author opts to go. But this was an enjoyable book, and it wrapped up the trilogy well.

After 18 books in this series I am calling it quits! I hate to give up on someone I have been reading for this long but this book was actually painful to get through! Her characters are so bad--- they are rude, smart asses, demanding, caustic, and totally unlikeable. And that's all of them! Half way through this disaster of a book I wanted to go back to her first one and see if the characters started out this way or if the author changed them. Then I had second thoughts and decided I would not spend any more time with Eve [whom I have never liked] and her family and friends.

Eve, Joe, Jane and Bonnie have provided hours of reading enjoyment via I.J.'s talents, but this is probably my last Eve Duncan read because my interest in the series never recovered from my disappointment with the solving of Bonnie's murder. That, combined with the sameness of all the female characters' personality traits and speech patterns, the sameness in the male characters and the sameness in the villains generate a predictability that no longer appeals.

Third of a trilogy. I have liked the Eve Duncan series from the first but it is getting a little too far out there for me. Now we not only have ghosts but an animal whisperer, a blood manipulator, an supper sleuth who puts patterns together as well as an old fashioned police detective. The characters are taking over the plot line and for me making it too unbelievable to be reading any more.

This book was absolutely AWFUL. A bunch of blithering idiot characters, dreadful unending dialogue, and people saying things like "I want to have sex with you." Gee, how romantic. Honestly, this series went down hill, culminating in this unending drivel. Skip it.

Although I really enjoyed all three of the books in this trilogy, I was really ready for them to be over. I decided I can only take so much suspense before I can't handle it anymore and become exhausted. This last book seemed to take forever to reach a resolution, but perhaps that was because I had already read two books on this same situation, although Ms. Johansen did throw in another element to heighten the stakes. I found Eve's conversations with her father, Zander, the most interesting part of the book. The jury is still out on Zander. As for the rest, almost the entire team is here from previous books in this series (This is the 18th, if you can believe it), and although they were split up and working different areas for the most part, as in the previous books, it was fun to see all of them, including Catherine Ling who has finally shown up just in time for Eve's funeral. The only ones missing are Logan and Sarah, as far as I can tell, but Margaret, the new one, more than made up for it.

I didn't read the other books in the trilogy... this was at the library and I grabbed because I read that Eve was dead. You can pick the plot up quickly and read it as a standlone book. I doubt if I'll read the other books.

I don't understand the negative reviews. I found the plot to be very good, exciting, and moving! Parts of it was tedious (4 instead of 5 stars). There was excellent character development and interaction. This book was a great deal about Jane, Caleb, and Trevor love triangle. I loved the Margaret character!

The audio book reader was an improvement over Quinn, Bonnie, and Eve series.

I loved the Zander character and hope to see him return in future series.

What I'm upset about:

* I don't like that they killed off Trevor. I thought he was good for Jane and the sexual scene with Caleb and her was just CREEPY! If the author continues to build this Jane/Caleb relationship in the next set of books I hope the audio book reader drops the bad Irish accent
* I believe they should of gotten Venebal involved more and what Jane did was treason. So parts of it was definately un-realistic!
* I would of loved to seen more Catherine/Gallo sparks that was in the Bonnie series.

As everyone races to find Eve the mastermind behind the scenes is gradually revealed. Kevin's Mother, Harriet, is every bit as EVIL as her son and ex-husband and is the one in control. Harriet knows the location of the nuclear bombs Kevin planted in Seattle, Washington and Chicago, Illinois and she plans to detonate them after she has the pleasure of watching Doane kill Zander.

Zander allows Doane to kidnap him in order to find Eve's location. In an attempt to prevent Harriet from prematurely detonating the devices Zander waits until the last possible moment to free himself and Eve. With impeachable timing Joe arrives in time to stab Doane in the back after he corners Zander and Eve on the cliffs.

Jane and her friends aren't so lucky when they corner Harriet. Harriet fatally wounds Mark Trevor, who dies in Jane's arms. Determined to kill Harriet for taking Trevor from her Jane tracks her down and kills her.

I am a fan of Eve. She is both smart and tough. The rest of the gang is great too. Yet this time I was not really feeling the vibe with this book. I was only semi interested in the events taking place in the story. There seemed to be a lot of mopping around. In addition, I found the high intensity action lacking until the last third of the book and no strong leader. There was a lot of times throughout this book that I found myself just going through the motions of reading but nothing was really sinking into my head. Which I really did not care if it did or not. There was not much of importance that I was missing. Plus, if you have read these books then you know how the story would end. So no surprise there. In fact, I was so disinterested that I did not even get emotional when one of the characters passed away. However I still enjoy this author and her books.

I've read this series since the first book, and wished Johansen ended it long before this book, the last in a trilogy within the series.
Eve has been captured by the father of a serial killer, and is believed by most to be dead. But her friends are pulling a fast one; they know she's alive and are out to rescue her, laying a false trail for her kidnapper by hosting a funeral for her.
I think Johansen, again, crams every character who played a part in the past books into this one, and ups the whoo-whoo factor by about 10.
I know how it ended, and I was hoping actually Johansen would be brave and kill off a major character but no such luck.
If her next book is in this vein, I'm really gonna call it quits.

A great conclusion to the arc with Eve and her father. This is a fast paced story with everyone racing against time to find Eve. Catherine showing up is great. Eve still able to fight crazy Doane is well done and consistent with Eve's character.

The twists and turns in this story had me spinning. This is why it was a 3.5 star for me. Some of the evil villains are shocking. The tragedy in this story completely throws me. As in, I'm in shock and had to re-read it several times at which point I screamed, "nooooo!!!!" WHY!?!?!? I understand why it happens so that the character development can move forward. It also resolves a relationship tug of war.

Enjoyable, shocking, heartbreaking and a page turner. Recommended for suspense lovers.

Just finished reading the last of the 3 book series.

I really loved the series and it was great to read them all at once.
This series about Eve keeps you interested and waiting for the next
turn of the page.

Eve is still held captive and trying to get away from the twisted
Doane, with Joe, Jane, Margaret and all the rest of Eve's friends
joining in to find her and bring her home.

I do love the interaction with Bonnie.

Hope we hear more of the new character Maragret!

This is a great series of fans of Eve Duncan will not want to miss.

I have always enjoyed this series, but these last three books, telling just one story, was too much of a stretch for me. It was almost painful reading the second book - I felt like the whole book was Eve running through the woods. There was just no need (other than $$) to make this story into 3 separate books.

The third book was the best of the series and there were some interesting plot turns, but it was just too hard to get there. I think it will be a long time before I am willing to read another Eve Duncan mystery.

Loved this trilogy. Silencing Eve was a wonderful ending to all the suspense. Only downer was a death of one of the characters. I won't say who but it made me sad.

But Eve, Joe and Jane survived.

Eve talking to her dead daughter weird, but ok. Caleb the blod guy just way over the top and so unbelieveable it wasn't even funny. I've always enjoyed the Eve Duncan series, but this triolgy just got more unbearable as they progressed.

Another excellent book by this Author! It seems that the books with Jane in the main focus are the ones that speak to me the most. I enjoy how there are new characters added but the story never feels to busy to me. Can't wait to see what comes next and PTL that Toby is alive and well!

I really like Eve, her character has to struggle with lots of quick decisions and her choices run seem to keep her strong in her training ....she hasnt let me down yet.
