“I bet you’re a real heartbreaker,” he said, giving me a nearly irresistible smile.

“I’ve never broken a single heart,” I admitted. “I’ve broken more than a few noses and stomped on several ball sacks though.”

Vaughn’s grin widened. “Let me buy you a drink.”

“I have a drink.”

“Fine. Let me take you to a booth and sweet talk your sexy ass into my bed tonight.”

For readers familiar with this series, you’ve probably been waiting for Vaughn’s story for a while now, just like me! I was really interested to learn his backstory and how he became a “dead man walking”. I wasn’t sure what to expect when I started reading Damaged and the Outlaw. I loved the first two books in the Damaged series but I wasn’t as big of fan of the novella that was released before this book, Damaged and the Cobra. I was worried Bijou Hunter may have lost her mojo. Happy to report…SHE’S STILL GOT IT!

For readers that like a lot of back and forth banter, Vance and Raven completely deliver. These two smart ass, quick witted characters use their conversations as a form of verbal foreplay. At times it almost was too much but overall it was a lot of fun to read.

Lifting her gaze to mine, Raven smiled slowly. It was a predator’s smile and I found myself turned on.

“If I don’t pay attention, will you cry?” she asked.

I smirked. “Maybe. Are you willing to risk it?”

“No skin off my ass if you embarrass yourself.”

“Cheater,” I said, leaning back.

“Talking about your ass to win an argument is bullshit.”

Raven’s smile faded. “You suck.”

“True. Just long enough to make you scream.”

“Don’t act cute now. If you want to treat me like shit, that’s your right. I can give as good as I get.”

“Are we talking about fucking again?"

The romance between Vaughn and Raven was nice and steamy, exactly what I expected based on the other books in the series. Once Vaughn accepted his feelings for Raven, I loved how committed he was. .

Raven glanced at me over her shoulder and gave me the most intense expression. “Own me, Vaughn.”

“Hell,” I muttered, caressing her with my cock, “you’re mine. If you leave, I’ll chase you. If you run, I’ll chase faster. If you let me catch you, I’ll make you my slave.”

“I’m not leaving you,” she said in a soft voice.

“No,” I murmured, caressing her hair. “No, you’re not. This is forever.”

I have to say the backstory of the Motorcycle Club and Cooper being the president seemed a little far-fetched. Motor Cycle President and pre-law college student at 22? Umm..okay.

It looks like a novella will be released at the end of December 2013, Damaged in the Dragon, which will be Bailey’s HEA. FINALLY! Please Bijou, do something with this mess of a girl, ha. I also noticed that Bijou now has Damaged and the Saint listed as book four in the series and the final book in the Damaged series. NO! Say it aint so! I really have enjoyed this series and am bummed it’s ending. I’m wondering if Harlow may get her HEA in this last book. I certainly hope so.

While Damaged and the Outlaw can certainly be read as a stand-alone, I’d recommend reading the series in order, if possible. Totally not necessary, but I think the entire series is worth a read and I personally like to start at the beginning.

A solid 4 STAR READ. Still loving this series!

woo woo I loved, loved, loved(yes one love is not enough) this book, this series just keeps getting better and better and when I think Bijou Hunter can't top herself she goes and makes me a liar. I loved this book from beginning to end I was hooked and wanted nothing more than to be in a secluded room all alone so that I could read this book with no distraction or interruptions. I never wanted to put Damaged and the Outlaw down. The second I picked up book one I have been impatient for the next and my wait for this book was no different. Once I heard about Damaged and the Outlaw I have been faithfully stalking Ms. Hunter till I knew a date for this book and so that I could make sure I wasn't missing any important information(yes I'm crazy like that when I find a book/series/author that I love).

We first met Raven in her sister's book(Damaged and the Cobra) and we got some of her back story, and we have scene bits of Vaughn but now we finally get all of their gritty beautiful story. Vaughn is an outlaw with a hit on his head he knows it is just a matter of time before he dies so he lives with no attachments and even though he has found friends in town and now works for Copper he knows he is still really just an outsider. Raven left town thinking she had finally found happiness and love and now Raven is back knowing that she will never have love. When Vaughn comes to one of Raven's cage fights he can't deny that he is drawn to her so he follows her. Raven never thought Vaughn could make her laugh and when they spend some time together Raven finds herself agreeing to a friends with benefits relationship.

Neither Vaughn or Raven want more but the more time they spend with each other the more they start liking each other. So they start to spend more time together and getting to know the other better, and soon find themselves falling in love. With a hit on Vaughn's life and hurt in Ravens past they both keep their true feelings a secret, but soon they find themselves dreaming of a future together with all the things they never thought they could or would ever have. When Vaughn finally puts his feeling out on the table Raven will have to decide if she is brave enough to admit to Vaughn how she really feels and live the life she only ever dreamed of, and Vaughn will have to decide to want a future instead of excepting his death. When they both finally admit their love for each other Vaughn's old MC comes to town to call in their hit on Vaughn and Copper will finally have to take the reigns of the MC and lead. But Vaughn will soon find out he and the gang may to late.

This book was another great book in this series, not only do we get an exceptional new story but we also get a great look into everyone else's life both past and future characters. Bijou has a insane talent with keeping you in the loop of old character, keeping you connected with them, and finding way to make us love them more. Raven was a great heroine she was strong with a hard shell that was there to protect her and it was great seeing both the hard and soft sides of her, as well as seeing her bloom with the love of not only Vaughn and her sister but with her new friends. Vaughn(oh momma) I LOVED Vaughn he is what I have come to expect from Bijou Hunter, he was in all consuming love with Raven, he was possessive, rough around the edges, and tough as nails with anyone but Raven she was his and no one was ever going to take her away from him(ahh sigh) did I mention that I love Vaughn.

This book had me in stitches, I found myself giggling and laughing throughout reading Damaged and the Outlaw, the sarcasm in this book is such a great bonus to this great story and it just made this book that much better. I hated Bailey in book one, but I don't think you understand I HATED her and wanted her dead, in book 2 and 2.5 I fell back in love with Bailey and stared to get excited for her book, now I am dying for her book, you can't help but love her after reading this book she is hilarious and I know her story will be yet again another display of Bijous amazing talent. In some books unfortunately I find myself loving a new series only to find that books 2,3 and so on just don't deliver and fall flat. With Bijou that is most defiantly NOT the case each book gets better and better, and she finds new ways for me to love this series even more than I thought possible with each new addition.

One of my favorite things about any books is the epilogue's I think every book needs one and I actually look in the table of contents to see if a book has an epilogue. I think in some cases they can make or break a book, when a book doesn't have and epilogue I die a little inside(yeah ok I'm exaggerating a tiny bit) but Bijou Hunter is crazy good at writing epilogues she writes epilogues so well, I never have any lingering questions or wishes that somethings was taken care of more or further explored. and in Damaged and the Outlaw I was blown away by the epilogue it was pure perfection. My only complaint is that I now have to wait yet again for the next book(oh the pains I suffer).

I was given this book to beta read(xoxo Bijou) and I was honored and thrilled, and I loved every minute of it wishing that this book wouldn't end and hating my percentage reader on my kindle that kept getting higher and higher. But I will be buying this book on release day because I loved it so much and I think Bijou Hunter is a brilliant author. So now I will go and search for another book that fills the void that I feel now that I have to wait for book 4. Bahh I can't wait for Bailey's book:}

Bijou Hunter does it again. I really was a little leery about Raven when I started this book but I ended up loving her. She's badass when she needs to be but she can also be vulnerable too. The one that was the star of this book for me though was Vaughn (Outlaw). Vaughn is considered a dead man walking. It really made me think about what that must feel like. To know there's a bounty on your head and never knowing when that time is going to come. He and Raven decided to have a friends with benefits relationship. We all know how that goes. Raven gave him hope for the first time in years. Hope for a future. Hope for a family. Hope to spend the rest of his days with the woman that he loves. Vaughn always felt a bit like an outsider his whole life. He only ever wanted to belong. These books have everything. Romance, laugh out loud moments, family, and true friendship. Of course we get to see more of the gang which I love about this series. They are standalones but have an ongoing story throughout the series.

Well, this story started out a LOT better than the last one. Loved the chemistry between Raven and Lark. Raven was a spitfire that could give and good as she got. Loved the fighter in her too. But then the story completely failed about 3/4ths of the way through. Tawny talking shit to Cooper and chewing his ass on how he was (or rather wasn't) running the MC. TOTALLY unbelievable. She would have been kicked out and banned after that in reality. Then she cutely apologizes for calling him a fucking idiot in her head. And Cooper is fine with it, saying. "You're funny." And even though Cooper couldn't pull his head out through the entire story and come up with a plan to show his dad he's capable of running the MC, his sister in law magically figures it all out for him (in front of his dad) so he can finally take action. So ridiculous, I'm completely finished with this pathetically unbelievable and juvenile series.

I made the mistake of starting to read this book while in public, the scenes with Vaughan and Bailey at the beginning were hilarious and set the tone for another lighter book, I was trying my best to stop laughing but I had to close my kindle in the end since people were looking at me like I was crazy. That said this is not a light book as such it's just not as heavy as Beast and Knight, like Cobra it contains a great mix of everything.
Vaughan and Raven were always going to be a dynamic combination and I loved Vaughan from the previous books although I wasn't sure about Raven going into this book but she soon won me over.
I have to say just how much I love Bailey, she now makes every book for me and this is huge because I didn't like her at all in Beast in fact I was really hoping that she wouldn't get her own book and now I can't wait till it comes out. The turning point for Bailey was Tawny, when she decided to make her a better person everything just clicked, she's so funny I just love her, everything about her she's hilarious, so now I'm waiting for Bailey and Nick to find there happy ending in Damaged and the Dragon.
Bijou write quickly please.

Ok, so this gonna be about all the book in the series so far.
I really like these books. In each books you can find funny parts which are almost ridiculous(ly funny) :) and dark parts. But it's not heavy read or too dark. It gives the glimpse of darkness.

I love all the characters, each of them are very different from each other with own problems and histories to overcome, no one is perfect but each couple is perfect for each other :)

can not wait to see Bailey and Dragon story and Saints one!!!

By reading the books in order, which I did not…I believe allows the reader a clearer understanding of character dynamics.

Complex characters with vulnerabilities, their happiness elusive. When Raven was relaxed, she was the epitome of innocence. When she was feisty, she was coquettish. When she was angry, Vaughn worried about being neutered.

These two were evenly matched, trying to outshine the other. It started off promising…until it wasn’t, it became boring.

Then there’s Vaughn with a target on his back.

When Vaughn’s mother became involved with Ted, the club became their life. At almost eighteen, he was already massive in size and Ted didn’t consider him a son, he simply wanted to keep him occupied, so he became an enforcer. Rough up shop owners and people who owed money. He worked with Stinky who noticed his potential as a cleaner. His complete lack of reaction when people cried or pled for mercy. He recommended to Ted that he’d be a good cleaner and could handle the ugly stuff.

Harlow had a semblance of a normal life, until…her father died and her mother spiralled into exercising a life of bad choices. Her children ended up living with a distant relative, Playboy’s old lady. (Playboy was someone in the club that he cleaned up for … a lot‼️ In his youth, he was a chick magnet, but as he got older, his predilection stayed ‘young’. A few months before Harlow, Vaughn cleaned up a dead hooker killed during rough play and a runaway who overdosed. He dumped the first body and got the second one to a clinic who wouldn’t ask questions).

One night, Playboy rang about a mess. He and his buddies were watching a football game and Harlow’s mother had been demanding her kids. Playboy didn’t care about the little ones, he just wanted to keep Harlow and told the mother to take the brats and go. When she saw Harlow drugged she knew what Playboy had done. She threatened him with the cops, that’s all he said before telling him to clean up the mess.

He found the mother and Harlow, also her little brother and sister in the back room, damaged. Playboy killed the little children as well. When he used the tyre iron on the mother, she was holding the little ones and he killed them. He bashed their little heads in. The room reeked of blood and sex. Harlow was on the ground holding her mother’s hand, beyond stoned.

She’d witnessed her mother and little siblings being murdered. Vaughn planned to kill her too and was enraged at Playboy, he detested him. Even knowing he was evil, he planned to follow orders. Even when he expressed that he wanted to keep Harlow because she was a good lay.
“I pulled out my gun, planning to kill her. I couldn’t do it with my hands. I was planning to shoot her and clean it all. Dump all four of them in a grave and walk away. I don’t want you to forget that about me, Raven. I was going to shoot a child in the face. No matter how old she was and how much she’d seen, sitting on the ground like she was, Harlow was a child. She whimpered for her mommy and begged me not to hurt her brother and sister. She sounded like a little girl and I couldn’t 🤬 do it.”

He avenged them all.
“I snapped. I didn’t think about the right way to help her or to walk away. I could have grabbed her and run. I could have faked like I killed her and snuck her out of there and run. I could have done a million different things, but then she said mommy. I looked at the dead woman and her dead kids. I smelled the blood and the way those bastards had raped and used Harlow…”

“My need wasn’t to save Harlow. I wanted revenge. For every time my mom had a black eye from some f-r she dated over the years. For that dead hooker and the runaway and every chick who ever bled for the amusement of the club. I wanted revenge. I wanted to burn it all down, so I snapped. I turned my gun on Playboy then his friends. I can’t even remember their names. I took Harlow and I burned down the house with her dead family in it. I also went to the place where the club stashed a lot of cash for emergencies. I took it all. I stole from the club and left Tucson with Harlow.”

Exhaling, he remembers the way Harlow stared at him as he burnt down the house. She didn’t cry for her mother or Mase and Stacia. A part of her understood they were gone. As the drugs faded, she understood more and more and he saw her pull into herself.

“We left Tucson and I had no plan, but I didn’t need one. Harlow had nothing back in Tucson and she never complained. We rode for hours and she held on. By the time we arrived in Ellsberg, she had stopped speaking, numbed. She hadn’t given up. Something just died in her when her family died and this was the new version of Harlow.”

“I f-d up the way I took Harlow. If I had done it different, she could live her life and I might be able to live a real life too. Instead, I let my temper control me. Now, I’m a dead man and she isn’t safe.”
“You saved her though.”
“Don’t make me a hero, Raven.”
“You are a hero though.”
“Over the years, I’ve regretted saving her. I can’t even see her without feeling regret”.
“You did a good thing.”
“If I did things different, I could have said goodbye to my mom.”
“Different like letting Playboy live so he could kill more moms and kids? No, you did the right thing and your mom was proud of you.”
“You can’t know that.”
“I do. She took care of you all of those years alone. You’ve got a heart and you make people laugh. You have a lot of good in you and that’s because of your mom. She loved you more than her life and she would have wanted you to save Harlow.

Excerpts:
“I wanted to blurt out how much I loved her then beg her to take my balls as an offering of my love. Fortunately, Raven wasn’t ready to have me embarrass myself so completely”.

“Sitting on the porch, I wondered if Vaughn was awake. He always woke up quickly like a starter’s pistol went off in his system. He was lively and usually ready for morning s*x. Fortunately, he didn’t care if I participated much when it was early”.

“If I lose you, there’s no one else. Ever. I want to see the world from your eyes. No guy has ever been like that for me. No guy could ever be like that for me again. It’s you or nothing.”
“Thanks, its important for me to know I’ve ruined you for all other men.”
“You’re such a child. It makes me good about my immaturity.”
“We’re emotionally stunted, but together we equal a normal adult.”
“True.”
‘You know, I haven’t been able to pick just the right nickname for you, tulip pumpkin sugar darling. I can now. You’re hope. You give me hope.”
Eyes burning, I wiped angrily at them. “I’ve turned into such a sissy lately.”
“Love will do that.”

We are finally getting back to the goods! Book #3 didn't do much for me, but thank God the story of Raven and Vaughn 'Outlaw' put the series back on the right track!

Short synopsis:
The Reapers bike club has taken on new leadership. Cooper and his gang have all partnered-up with their ladies and the only one that has been left out in the cold is Outlaw–that's until now.

When Vaughn Majors made a split decision to finally stop just following orders, and go against his 'former' leader MC of the Devils, his life was changed forever. Now in a new town and parlaying with a new bikers' club the Reapers he has a bounty on his head, and it's just a matter of time before his past catches up to him again.
 photo tumblr_m6be6rFTp71qewov7o1_500_zps6f970976.jpg
A man that's been counting his days for the past few years hasn't needed to plan for a future. Dubbed the name 'Outlaw', he comes an goes as he pleases, he doesn't make friends, he doesn't do relationships, and he maintains his cold disposition almost always. Avoiding any personal commitment has kept him safe so far, so when his own savior walks into his life bringing hope with her, he can't help but to acknowledge the change in himself.

Raven Hancock has had a disastrous up bringing. She fled from Ellseberg when her mom's latest husband gave her an ultimatum–play pretty innocent step-daughter or hit the road; she hit the road. After fleeing from Ellseberg with her 'then' boyfriend, she set out to become anything but her mother and the rest of the failing women in her family. Raven quickly learns that no matter where you run your problems will follow. She gives up and comes home when her sister–the only person she cares about–calls her to come home;she's needed.
 photo ScreenShot2014-04-29at51437PM_zps38864e2f.png
The only person who has ever matter to Raven has been her sister Lark. When she gets home and sees that Lark has created what they've both wanted since kids–a good and loving husband, friends, and her own makeshift family–hope sparks anew for Raven. Her only problem...she's not sure if she still believes in love, in fact, she refuses to be 'stupid' and fall in love again; men have been her downfall since she started noticing them. Fortunately for Raven her plans fall to the side once she meets Vaughn. He's the perfect solution to her new problem–falling in love.

Together, Raven and Vaughn enter into a 'no strings attached' agreement where they can be friends and reap the benefits.
 photo kisscouplekissing-b4310fd695c7f4eb7e3144627c095623_h_zps282f9a6c.jpg
But the more time Raven spends with Vaughn she notices that he's not as bad as he seems. Of course he's out-of-this-world-hot, but he's also funny, and loving, and protective.

Vaughn can't believe that he's actually fallen prey to the same fate as his buddies; he's fallen in love. He finally can hope again, hope to build a future with the one and only person who means everything to him. Now is the time to face his past, fight for his future, and become something more than his 'job'.

The Best Thing:
What's not to like about this book? You've got one of the baddest men in the bikers club proving he can fall for his girl and still whoop a**.

Things I loved!
- I love the characters of course. Raven is a true smarta**, but I love how she keeps Outlaw on his toes.
I really enjoyed experiencing these two characters fall for one another despite how hard they tried to deny it.
- The heat between these two was pretty hot...actually is was probably the hottest since reading about Farah and Cooper.
- I like how Raven stood up to both men and women around; she was no pansy. I also like how real her character was. She may have stood up to a lot of people, but she struggled with that when it came to her own 'sperm donor' or father.

The Worst Thing:
I don't have a lot of tweaks for this book in the series because I really enjoyed it!

Damaged by the Outlaw was a good book, however it fell short of my 5 star expectations. Vaughan and Raven are so funny they kept me laughing. The storyline was lacking because Vaughan was so hell bent on not falling in love, but it didn't take a lot of persuasion for him to fall fast and hard for Raven.
All and all this is still a fun read and I do love the series.

My first books by this author was the Shasta series, so I’m working my way from the kids back to the parents. I’ve been dying to read the Majors story and I’m glad it didn’t disappoint. What’s even more amazing is that BH keeps the characters unique personalities true right through each generation. Love Vaughn and Raven.

Two Outsiders

This is the fourth in a series of connected books. Technically you could probably understand the book without reading the previous ones, but you would miss out on a lot if you did so. There is no cliffhanger.

Raven is Lark’s older sister. She ran away when she couldn’t stop fighting with Larry their stepfather. When she got a message from Lark about being pregnant she came home, using it as a reason to leave her failed attempt at life away from her home town. She is brash, aggressive, a roller derby queen, adores her sister, is honest and loves her friends dearly without reservation. She decided when she returned home that she was going to avoid men because everyone she chose was a waste of space and she has terrible taste in them.

Vaughn, or Outlaw as he’s called in the club, used to belong to a different club where he worked as a cleaner. He was co-opted into the club because of his step-father. He never really decided to join, just did what he was told and ended up doing work that he resented. When he finally snapped, he went off the end big time and left with a young abused girl and found safety in his new home. Though he was part of the new club, he never felt like he truly belonged. He was always on the outside looking in because he had a contract out on him and he never expected to live.

When Vaughn and Raven meet they end up deciding to be friends with benefits as they understand that they don’t want to get involved, only that doesn’t seem to take. Their relationship evolves from a one night stand, to friends, to more. I actually really love how the relationship builds and layers up as they spend time together. Both these outsiders find a lot in common with each other, not to mention they make each other laugh. I loved their banter and playfulness.

The author creates tension because of the contract on Vaughn by placing pressure on the relationship and on them as individuals within the larger community. Vaughn isn’t the only one in danger due to his decisions.

I really enjoyed this book. It was funny, sexy and emotionally satisfying. This really is a great series and I’m so pleased I discovered it. I’ve not got tired of it yet. By now, I thought I’d be ready to take a break and read something else, but I’m not because the books have enough differences to be interesting, whilst keeping up with the same spirit of the series as a whole. It’s a successful blend.

This was by far the best book in this series. It had action, love, and so much damn humor. I loved it. I chuckled throughout the entire book. The banter between Vaughn and Raven was extremely humorous.

This book is about Raven and Vaughn. Raven was first introduced with her sister in Damaged and the Cobra. Raven falls for the wrong men and gets hurt - even when she knows they are not worth it. So she starts over, giving up on love and comes to an agreement with Vaughn to be friends with benefits and absolutely no love required. Raven is a tough chick, she does the roller derby and cage fights because that's all she knows but you'll experience another side of Raven once she interacts with Vaughn. Vaughn has his own demons and he really is a dead man walking. Vaughn has a contract out on him by his prior motorcycle club because he didn't follow orders. Instead he saves a teenage girl named Harlow who was being kept and raped by this club. Vaughn saves the girl and kills some of the members of the club. So he doesn't want a relationship either because well he probably won't live long. But he makes this agreement with Raven and you see how their friends with benefits turns into something so much more. Both are afraid for different reasons. Vaughn isn't afraid to love but he is afraid to love and then die. Raven see's this relationship happening between them, sees their future but her past keeps creeping in and plays with her mind. You will see these two evolve and love. You'll see how the club has to make a decision to deal with Vaughn's problem and how those problems affect other players. I loved this book because the story was good, the love was passionate and it was friggin funny.

Here are some quotes that I found to be funny but they are throughout the book between Vaughn and Raven:
Raven says to Vaughn, "being dumb is easier when you're beautiful though". Vaughn says with a sigh, "don't I know it".

Raven calls Vaughn an idiot. He says, “So are you. Man, our kids will be beautiful, but stupid.”

There are so many simple yet funny lines between these two that you will stay entertained. I can't wait for the next book.

I adored this book! I found the banter between characters (particularly Raven and Vaughn) fricken hilarious (I mean, I actually laughed out loud, multiple times). Vaughn definitely has the caveman act down pat, particularly the lingo. Like all Bijou Hunter's heroes, Vaughn isn't afraid to go that extra mile to show his woman he cares and to get her to listen, even if he has to resort to chloroform. Raven is one hell of a tough chick, and can handle everything Vaughn wants to give her, as well as give as good as she gets. I read this in a day, cause I didn't want to put it down. #Chloroform #VaughnAndRaven #Caveman #Fuckbuddies #Outlaw #Love #Bowling #Chocolate <3

As he slid a bit closer, I caught a whiff of his cologne. Smelling like chocolate, the scent was bait to any self-respecting woman.
-Raven's thoughts about Vaughn

Wearing my tee over her shorts, she studied the sink counter. “You smell like chocolate.”
I handed her the Axe spray. “It brings all the girls to the yard.”
-Raven and Vaughn

When she was relaxed, Raven was the picture of innocence. When she was feisty, she was sex kitten personified. When she was angry, I worried she would neuter me. Raven was a winning combination.
-Vaughn's thoughts about Raven

“Once upon a time,” I said and she smiled again, “there was a lonely fool who wasted one day after another of his life. One day, he met the most fascinating chick and she quickly wrapped the fool around her finger. She loved him in the best way and saved him from himself."
-Vaughn to Raven

She grinned. “You’re really hot, Vaughn. I’ve never had access to so much sexy man meat.”
Just like that, all my plans to keep her at a distance disappeared. She had me at man meat.
-Raven and Vaughn

Life was pretty perfect. All because a sexy chick broke her abstinence pledge to enjoy a night of fun. One hot roll in bed blossomed into love, marriage, and quite a few baby carriages. I wouldn’t have it any other way.
