He’s everything she hates… So, why can’t she say no to him?Introducing Book 1 in the Warner University Bulldog series...
Kenna
West Brooks stands for everything I despise. He’s a meathead jock whose silence says it all: He only cares about himself and his football season.
So, why can’t I say no when he offers me his help?
I should run the other way. I should tell him exactly what I think of him for ruining my life. Instead, I agree to his terms because he might be the only person who can get me what I want.

The closer we work together, the better chance I have at breaking down Kenna Knowles’ impossibly thick walls.
She has to see that we’re perfect for each other, that I’m not the person she thinks I am. Because the more time I spend with her, the more I realize she might be the only one to see the real me, the me I keep hidden behind this Bulldog jersey.
However, just when I think I’m getting somewhere, my past decides to make things worse, and all hope may be lost.
I might be the best player on the field, but I have zero chance of winning this pact…and most importantly, this girl.

THE COMEBACK PACT is a spicy sports romance novel with all the feels!
E. M. Moore is a USA Today Bestselling author of Contemporary and Paranormal Romance. She's drawn to write within the teen and college-aged years where her characters get knocked on their asses, torn inside out, and put back together again by their first loves. Whether it's in a fantastical setting where human guards protect the creatures of the night or a realistic high school backdrop where social cliques rule the halls, the emotions are the same. Dark. Twisty. Angsty. Raw.
When Erin's not writing, you can find her dreaming up vacations for her family, watching murder mystery shows, or dancing in her kitchen while she pretends to cook.

I wanted so much more from this book. It had such potential but didn't really take off. Now I don't know if I missed it somehow but do we every really find out the details of what happened to Kenna? There's mention of the rival football team, her waking up with excruciating pain on the side of her face, and then the surgeries. I must have missed the details of what actually caused her to get the scar. I understand why West was so quiet with all the abuse he suffered when he was a child, but I so badly wanted him to standup for Kenna after what his dad did. She deserved him to publicly support her since his dad humiliated her in public. That being said, their relationship was cute and sweet in how it developed. Spice was ok. I did love the rest of the team and their comic relief. The speedo cheer squad was absolute perfection!
2.5 stars It was okay. If I read this book first, I would not read the other works from this author. However, I have and her other books are amazing. The heroine is a bit uppity. I did not care for her. The drama towards the end was manufactured. Of course the uppity heroine thought the worst of the hero because she was so perfect *insert eye-roll*.
This was such an easy and good read! Kenna was a casualty of school wars so in comes West to help her. He's the quiet but strong one on the football team. My heart aches for West. Kenna seams to recover quickly and he's what she needs but West's trauma is what really got me. Read this one quicker than I anticipated. Loved it!
This is my first book that I've read of this author's work and I'm not surprised by how much I annihilated it.
Kenna and West were such a cute couple. Their banter was adorable, their communication was a struggle at the beginning, but it gets better as the story progresses. I loved how both characters took back their power from past traumas and didn't let it define them. West is the true definition of touch her and die vibes, with a silent-grump vibe as well. Kenna...she's a warrior, a bad ass one at that. To go through what she did, and turn it all around for the better she's literally THAT GIRL!
I need for Aidan and Sydney to get their ish together because the tension between the two you can cut it with a knife. Both are great friends to the main characters and I hope they get their HEA.
And Wests' dad can suck on cat regurgitated hair balls. Like for real...he's a total douche-canoe. You know that one character from a popular series that everyone hates. That's Wests' dad to a T. This also played a part in me taking a star away because his parents are horrible people.
I took 1/2 star away because I felt like the third act break up wasn't really a break-up. It was just two people who were scared and didn't know how to move forward and stick beside each other through anything. It wasn't really needed IMO.
At the end of the day...I would definitely recommend!

The comeback pact de E. M. Moore Serie Warner University Bulldogs libro 1
Argumento:
At first, I was very iffy on the storyline and the romance, but I’m glad that it exceeded what I was thinking, and it turned out to be a really compelling story.
I’m also glad to see another sport being signed into this football romance. While also showing the camaraderie sports when it comes to morale, even though there were alternative motives in the beginning.
And I kind of wish that there is more consequence for the other team and father but I understand it’s a short, but we can’t get all that.
If I could give this book 10 stars, I would. The Comeback Pact was everything you could ever want in a sports romance book! Kenna, an aspiring diver, injured in a freak incident involving rival football teams finds herself in need of a trainer. West, the big man football player on campus, finds himself needing to be the one to offer his assistance. But why would she want his help when he's part of the reason she needs it? OMG! I loved Kenna's strength to overcome hardships, to work hard to achieve her goals and never take no for an answer. I loved West's inner strength, to use his passion to overcome past abuses. And together, they're fire! Definitely a must read. Epic HEA. And I can't wait for the next book in the series!!!
I legit almost cried at the end. I totally teared up. It was a battle to stop it. I really enjoyed this book, I only put it down right after I almost dropped my phone on my face. Good thing it hit my chest instead LOL things get spicy, but closer to the end. If you don't like spice you can totally skip it, and still enjoy the story.. it's worth it
Written well but the story was lacking. It’s like, the story started before the book did. Lots of lost potential with Kenna’s journey. She ended up being all about West and she became so wrapped up in him, we lost her identity.
Would have loved an epilogue about her at the Olympics instead of him being drafted.
I adored both the main characters in this book. From the sweet and adorable yet sucks at communication West to the shy yet starting to embrace her power and ready for the next Kenna.
This book had the perfect amount of he fell first and admitted it first that you don't find in a lot of books these days.
I loved the cuddles and adorable scenes between the spice and as usual had the signature E.M Moore calamity which was done well.
This is the first book in the series, but of course, if you read my reviews, you know I do things half-a$$ backward. I started with book two first. This book is about West and Kenna. These two have not had it easy time of it, and their trust level is in the minus amount. So, when West makes headway, it is no joke. Both are Warner University Students.
Here we go. The book opens with McKenna (Kenna) Knowles coming back after a long, debilitating recovery that never should have happened from a senseless act of rivalry. Between her college and the opposing college, Hamilton Football Team. However, she’s back full throttle. All the surgeries, recoveries, and pain are over. Or so he thought. She comes back believing that her school, the team, and her coaches had been rooting for her to make it back on the team. What she finds instead is she had been backstabbed by the lot of them.
That includes her synchronized dive partner, former roommate, and high school friend for the last five years. She had been paired, with someone else. And no one, and I mean no one, had the balls to tell her. Her coach was a wuss who took the chicken chick's way to tell her by waiting. She waited until she was at the school, and couldn't lose it on the coach or her ex-partner without looking like a ‘B.’ At that moment, she thought her dreams were shattered forever, her coach gave no hope that she could, or would, have the ability to make it back that year.
Almost as if it was all her fault that this crime happened to her. She runs out of the meeting, knowing the coach is insincere and did her wrong. She vows to come back in top shape and full board this year, no matter what. She’s mad and runs out of the gym and into the arms of the HULK. West Brooks. All-star football player. Big man on campus, he’s drop-dead gorgeous, and he’s always wearing a stoic face that says if you were important enough, he would have told you. So, if he hasn’t told you, don't ask. The moment she ran into him he caught her from falling on her bum. His thoughts flashed to a possessiveness that took hold of him. He is awed by her beauty. He doesn't see her scars he sees the whole package that is Kenna.
Everything about her screams, “Get the hell away from me!” But, with the scars, on her face, you can tell she is self-conscious about how it makes, her look. However, her scars are like a battle scars everyone can see. From a fight well earned. If anyone doesn't like it tell them to eat chicks. When Kenna needs someone to help her get back into shape, take a guess who comes to her aide? Who knew West’s major was exercise science? He has done a lot of people’s workout plans for them when asked for their collective sport.
This is actually a deep emotional story on so many levels. You get the truth and the trust that is forged between the two most unlikeliest of athletes on campus. However, their bond becomes the glue that mends both their hearts and offers up school spirit, friendship, and love that bonds them forever.
When you read the blurb for this book, it seems like a cute football romance. I mean, it even says THE COMEBACK PACT is a spicy sports romance novel with all the feels! Let me tell you that when it says "with all the feels" it really does mean it. I was not prepared to feel these feels but I have no regrets at all. Did I devour this book? Yup. Did I add books 2 and 3 to my cart on Audible and will be checking out after this? Also yup. I liked Aiden so his book should be good. As for book 3, I don't think we've met the characters yet but I don't care. I am willing to bet I'll still like the book.
So why will you like this book? I'm glad you asked. For starters, I did enjoy the narrators. They did a good job narrating college aged students. They don't sound too old nor do they sound too young. I also thought they fit the role just right. Not too over the top. I can't stand when the female narrator is whiny (which she wasn't) or when the male narrator does a terrible female impression (his was just fine).
West Brooks is a football player tasked with getting Kenna Knowles to show up to their football practice. Last season, she was injured by their rival team (long story). She obviously hates all the football players now since none of them stood up for her or helped her out. She's also no longer partnered up with her longtime dive partner since she couldn’t practice while she was healing from her injury. She needs to get back her peak performance and needs the help of another athlete so she posts an ad on the gym bulletin board.
West Brooks is the man of (no so) many words. He is a machine out on the field but off the field, not so much. He had a terrible upbringing and still suffers from that trauma when it comes to saying anything. His mind is always playing tricks on him of how he'll suffer like he did as a kid if he says or does anything so he generally tries to remain silent and in the background. Not when it comes to Kenna though. He feels terrible about what happened to her. Coach tasks him with getting her to their practices to show "unity" and basically forgiveness on her part. Seeing Kenna's ad for a trainer is the perfect opportunity for West to work his way up to this except he doesn't care about coach's demands. He actually just wants to get to know Kenna better.
The emotional roller coaster this book took me on was something else. I was not wearing my seatbelt so I was thrown for a loop a few times. Both of these characters have some trauma. Kenna's being very recent and West's being in his childhood. Since West doesn't use his words much, Kenna only knows what she sees and what others say about West, which is far from the truth. He didn't grow up with a silver spoon in his mouth but rather in the trailer park with an abusive father.
This book does have some deeper topics so I do recommend you read the content warnings. After doing so, go ahead and get into this book. It's a great read with a truly happy ending.
I’m going to start by saying that I enjoy everything until the 3rd act. I am a negative Nancy at heart and since I finished this book just now all my feelings are about to be expressed in a way the hopefully doesn’t discourage people from reading but gets my feeling out there. Hopefully no one considers what I wrote spoilers but I would say maybe be cautious of my fifth note I don’t know how to blur it.
First I’ve learned that I am not a 3rd act breakup girl to my core. And any unnecessary “we can’t be together” just annoys me 9/10 times. Second Wests father just came out of nowhere with his sons rival team to talk shit about him and Kenna “feels betrayed” that she didn’t know West is making 3 millions dollars in NIL deals because “he comes of like he’s a normal guy trying to get by” and said he didn’t have any money. Are you serious, like to start that could be an exaggerated number by news reporters, then there’s that fact that the only time money is brought up that I can think of is when he got the truck and talked about how shitty his mothers car was, like this money is new he grew up struggling and he’s got way more important issues that worrying about you knowing how much money he has. Third there was like whiplash between whether they were ok or not ok together it would change in the matter of minutes it felt like. Video of his dad talking about Kenna’s scar got out, she’s embarrassed and immediately thinks West shared it? But then she’s sarcastic saying she’s happy that it helps him show that his dad is an ass and hangs up on West, he texts her saying he’s sorry the video got out and that he won’t contact her anymore and she says “so that’s it … we’re done”. Like yes you’re done you acted all mad a video that could help your Bfs image against his dad came out, of course he’s going to think it’s best to have distance if that’s how you react. Fourth she acts sad he didn’t show up at her dive meet thing or answer his phone as he’s dealing with possible career affecting incidents and her best friend says it would’ve taken two second to answer and say good luck, which you know in theory is true but he’s clearly got things happening and they expect this man to talk a lot for someone they know would rarely talk the first however long they knew him for. Fifth it all ends so easily with a little sideline interview “clearing the air” and a poster love confession and the father is never mentioned again it seems and they get NIL deals together. How sweet don’t give us a final talking to with the father but as long as they got some money it’s all ok.
Truly the first part of this book was nice and if you love a good unnecessary “breakup” this is your book. Again I could just be feeling to strongly about how this went down but I feel like there were other ways to do it.
I love this book so hard. Kenna and West immediately won my heart and I was both excited and hopeful they'd get their HEA. There are so many reasons they shouldn't work and, yet, they do. Not because of who they were as people, but because of what happened in the past. The way their paths are intertwined from past events should have made it near impossible for a spark of romance to even begin. Kenna has her reasons and, trust me, they are completely valid. However, those past events don't involve actions by West himself. He is merely guilty by association. And when West does something expectedly kind for Kenna, she begins to really allow herself to look at him. To SEE him. He has his own demons to fight and sometimes they get the better of him, but he fights them as best he can. Kenna is right by his side to help him as he has helped her. Their romance is filled with butterfly stomachs, anxiety, anticipation, longing, and love. I cried through most of this book because I could actually FEEL the emotions of both Kenna and West to my core. These two have suffered and they deserve a HEA.
I totally recommend this book because it is a consuming love story about overcoming fears and adversity. Not just overcoming, but fighting to excel despite their troubled pasts. Although, sometimes it got a bit dicey, they refused to break. Kenna's strength is awe inspiring. I rooted for them to succeed the entire time, never once blaming either of them for how they dealt with obstacles. I was that invested in BOTH characters. Their actions were realistically believable and, sometimes, heart wrenching. And the storyline was so perfectly told. There were so many factors at play and all of them relevant and explored thoroughly. It was completely satisfying.
When I started reading this, I expected enemies to lovers. I was prepared to dislike one of them while rooting for the other until the author changed my mind. LOL Kenna was certainly primed to hate the male lead, having been through trauma inadvertently caused by him and his football teammates. But then we get to West's POV in the second chapter, and OH.MY.WORD! That fella was helmet over heels for her. I was ecstatic to find we have a 'he falls first' storyline! West is a man of few words, which is unique in the romance world. We rely so much on adoring our male characters because of the things they say, but this story wasn't like that. Yes, when West speaks, we listen, but his way wasn't with words, it was with actions.
Here's my favorite quote to help explain what I mean: "I realize West doesn't always use his words. He says his feelings in other ways. The way he holds me. The way he f..ks me. The way his expression is equal parts soft and shadowy, as if his need is mixed with his care for me."
He wanted Kenna to succeed in her diving comeback, and he went full steam ahead in helping her get there. The jersey scene about took me out with how sweet it was too!
I thought I was getting the fighting and fussing of enemies to lovers, but instead I found a powerful story of overcoming your circumstances when they seem impossible and learning how to let the right person in. Kenna had to rise above her anger. West needed to shed his old insecurities. Together, they discovered how to lean on each other and bask in the safety of having someone in your corner, no matter what.
Kenna hates football players because an incident happened involving rivals from another college football team that left her with a scar on her neck and after months of surgeries her scar is finally healed. She is hopeful of getting back on the diving team but it doesn't go as well as she hopes. She is determined to get back to where she was before everything happened. West is the star on the football team and he has a crush on Kenna. His coach wants West to try and get Kenna to go to football practice to help with the bad public image after everything that happened to Kenna from the rival team. This is a perfect way for West to get to spend real time with Kenna. Can West get Kenna to agree to the comeback pact? West past affects how he handles things in the present especially when his past causes issues in the present. Can Kenna see past West current actions and realize what she must do? Or will she give up?
Wow, I loved this one. Such a wonderful story of coming back from things that keep us down and rising to the top. It is about overcoming trauma from the past and not letting it keep you down. Kenna and West both come back in different ways. This story is also a beautiful love story between Kenna and West. I loved these two together. They are perfect for each other. have read all of E. M. Moore's books and I really love this one. This one touched my heart I seriously felt for these characters and their struggles felt so real that I shed tears for drama that causes them issues that seem unsurpassable. I feel their connection it is real love but is it enough? This is a must-read! I loved it and read it cover to cover and loved it.
This was my first book from this author and I actually really enjoyed it.
I liked both of the characters though it took me a while to warm up to Kenna but I ended up liking her in the end. I liked that West was all about her and no other girl. He didn’t come off as a manwhore (even though we aren’t really told much of either of their experiences) and he didn’t only care about getting with girls.
My favorite character was probably Sydney. Like book boyfriends, if we could have book besties then I would want her as mine. She was the definition of ride or die. Usually the FMCs bff annoy me but I absolutely loved her.
The main reason for the missed star was….West. Idk if it’s because I’m coming off of reading a bunch of mafia romances but I just wanted West to have more of a damn backbone. I mean his girl was getting called all types of names and he didn’t say a damn thing. Also! One of my biggest pet peeves is when the guy messes up but the author for some reason has the woman try and fix it! Like we didn’t even see him apologize for how he treated her for days, multiple times. He wasn’t there for her and it was just brushed under the rug. I was excited for some groveling and there was literally none!!! Ahh soo disappointing.
Otherwise it was a good read and I would read another.
A college sports romance, enemies to lovers, emotional, he falls first hard, spicy and characters you'll easily fall in love with. West Brooks is an uber talented football player who is quiet and an observer who puts it all out on the field. McKenna is a diver for their school, but a school rivalry prank went wrong and she was caught in the crosshairs. Understandably, she has a major disdain for everything football team. But, recovering from the injury also detrimentally put her spot on her team on notice. She's gotta get her strength back and intensive training. West spots an opportunity to be around the girl he's pretty much in love with, and makes her an offer she really can't resist if she wants to get back on the roster to dive.
This was my first book by this author and I wanted more of these two!!!! I love how they were so real with each other, how deeply their feelings were building and their vulnerablness with each other. When I thought it would be typical book moments, I was surprised again and again how some of these situations played out. West was so sweet, fantastic, and just Kenna's biggest cheerleader. They were scorching hot. I loved how both West and Kenna was written. There is just so much more to this book, but I can't wait for the next one!
This was kind of a letdown for me! It felt like I was dropped into the story a few chapters in, or that there was a prologue I missed that covered some much needed backstory, so everything was a bit confusing. We never actually find out what happened to Kenna. We’re given little tidbits and can piece together that the football players from a rival university threw a lit firework into her dorm room through the window, she was (obviously) injured, and had to have multiple surgeries as a result. But we as readers have to piece that together ourselves, and there’s never any explanation as to why any of that happened. And now she hates all football players…? West was sweet, but the whole thing about his dad actually made me laugh. His dad (some random, middle aged loser) is hanging out with players from the rival university’s football team? Going to restaurants with them? What?? Literally why would this other team be like “yeah let’s be friends with this dude, he seems legit!”
This was an easy read and I did enjoy it, but I won’t be continuing with the series.
I LOVE West Brooks so much. He is so sweet and so unsure of himself. McKenna has a very good reason for hating the football team and West knows this. Kenna was an innocent victim of a prank between the Warner Bulldogs and their rival team. Kenna is trying to get her spot back on the diving team after recovering from the injury she recieved from the prank and West is a member of the football team who is charged with getting McKenna to go to a practice by the football coach in a ploy to reverse the negative image the team has because of the incident.
Like I said, I love West. He is just the sweetest guy ever, he is so into McKenna and so scared at the same time. I definately understand Kenna's reluctance to get involved with someone who represents everything that has been taken from her. She is such a strong young woman.
I read this book in one sitting, it was sweet, relatable and just overall a great read.

I was a little disappointed as I'd hoped we'd get to see Cade & Jules become an item. Cade did get a couple of mentions & Reid & Briar got a mention towards the end. No mention of Lex which was sad. Instead we meet Kenna & West. Kenna is a dive star who has been out of action for a while due to an accident caused by football team rivals hence she hates football & football players. West is the schools star quaterback & has secretly coveted Kenna for some time. Can West help Kenna regain her place in the dive squad & change her mind about him & his team mates? Can Kenna see beyond her prejudice to the real West & help him to overcome his own demons? Another enjoyable read despite my disappointment. I would really like another book with Reid & Co though. It would also be good to catch up with Kenna & West & see how their careers & relationship are going.
Welcome to Warner University Bulldog series and damn instantly you get drawn into what happened and want answers.
"Scars are like warpaint everyone can see."
Honestly this book pulled at my heart, like literally made me feel super emotional and in tune with their vunerability and that's hard to do when writing!! But I am certainly not surprised with how I friggin devoured this book!
West & Kenna's journey is honestly raw, real and laced with their haunted pasts and yet they still gravitate towards each other! The journey and the story grows with each page and when this turn it's a dark road until strength takes over!
"Me and West, we’re inevitable. Like sunshine after a rainstorm. Like a clear sky after a fire. We’re here. Exactly where we were always meant to be."
Can we appreciate the ending MY DARN HEART IS SO FULL! 😍❤️ I am honestly diving straight in to book two
After Diver - Kenna (FMC) is left with scars that are both visible and ones that are emotional as well as psychological when a prank by a rival University football team goes wrong. She's left with hatred of as she sees them entitled football players but circumstances and a need for a trainer brings football player - West into her life. Which in turn makes her confront her misinformation and prejudices about football players.
There was a genuine sweetness about both characters and with everything they've had to cope with but also with their tentative relationship together. It was a bittersweet story about love, trust and opening yourself up again after you've been hurt. I honestly loved this book. I really wanted Kenna and West to get their HEA ending so much!!!
From the very start, I was hooked on Kenna and West's story. It shouldn't surprise me, each and every book of this author's that I've read, I've loved, devouring each and every word. The Comeback Pact is possibly my favourite book of this author's so far. West will have you falling in love with him within the very first few pages. The way he loves and adores Kenna, it's beautiful especially the way he views her as being a warrior. I loved Kenna, and watching her overcome what she does, you can't not admire her. Their story definitely has its emotional moments, but if you fancy a sweet sports romance with a strong FMC and an incredibly sweet MMC then definitely read this book. Loved it!
