A short read about rekindling marriage. Jillian & Dean have been married for nearly 20 years & have 2 older sons whom are away from home. Jillian feels that over the years their sex life has become rather 'vanilla'; taking manners into her own hands she decides to ambush her husband at his office & spice things up a bit.
This short story was very hot with moments of humor & re-discovering why you love the person you've married. Erika Wilde demonstrates that its okay for couples to be more 'adventurous & spontaneous'. Overall, it was an enjoyable read & I hope to read more erotic romances by this author in the future.

I hate it, hate it when someone recommends a book to me and I can’t remember who did it so I can thank them. So, to the person who recommended I read The Awakening by Janelle Denison, I thank you. Being someone who has been married for 25 years and in a committed relationship for 27, I appreciate books that are about couples rediscovering their love and exploring new sexual boundaries. This is a very short and erotic story but it is well worth the 99 cent price tag and I have no doubt no matter if you are in a relationship or not that you will take something away from this story.
Jill and Dean have been together since their teens. As a result of a teenage pregnancy, they’ve basically grown up together being lovers, parents, and friends. I like that Jill decided it was time to spice up their sex life and took matters into her own hands. Dean wasn’t hard to convince although he seemed somewhat concerned that Jill was unhappy in their marriage. He got on board very quickly and they explore some new and exciting sexual territory together.
The one thing I hope this book does is open up the lines of communication between partners. I’ve said this before when I’ve reviewed books of this nature, being with the same person for many years does not mean you can’t enjoy each other and you can’t continue to experiment. If anything, the absolute trust you have in your partner should make it that much easier to explore everything both you and your partner’s hearts desire.
I very much enjoyed watching Jill and Dean embark on a new chapter in their lives. It was gratifying to see another couple turn to each other instead of others to fulfill their needs. I can’t recommend this book enough to anyone who is in a long term relationship, to those just starting out, or to anyone who dreams of having a loving and lasting commitment. Thank you again to the person who recommended this book to me, thank you to Janelle Denison for writing it and I look so forward to the next installment of this series!

Loved it, a thoroughly satisfying read! A happily married couple who have raised their kids and now have time to spice up their sex life!!! Can't wait to see what's next for Dean & Jillian.

Wow and it's a freebie on Amazon! Another short story winner! I loved it! Imagine wanting to spice up your long time marriage and the standard vanilla routine which has been serviceable but not overly exciting. You get the courage to approach your husband with some ideas that will hopefully dig up his unexplored Dominant side. Now imagine your shock in discovering that he actually has in him to not only meet but exceed your expectations! Wow oh wow! Married women everywhere will be taking notes! I completely believed the story, it didn't come across as corny or porn with story line. It was about a husband and wife having the courage to try something new! Yay! On to book 2 now!!

I rarely wear my husband out, but the last day or two we've been like rabbits! Why? Because I read the THE MARRIAGE DIARIES ">Marriage Diaries by Erika Wilde. Holy Hotness! This series is everything a short hot novella series should be. I swear, the author was IN MY HEAD, reading all of my fantasies! I have been married over 20 years, and I just loved reading about a hot as hell, sexy couple that was in a long term marriage as well.
Jillian and Dean Noble have been happily married for almost 20 years. Jillian got pregnant very young, and they married. At 38, both boys have moved out of the house, and Jillian decides it's time to step up their sex life. Dean is a hot ex-navy seal now running his own security company. They are still pretty young and vibrant, but their sex life, like most long-married couples, has become routine and vanilla. Jillian wants to change that and explore a whole new side to their marriage now that the kids are gone.
The story begins with Jillian dropping by her husband's office and seducing him for the first time ever.
While they'd never played at being dominant and submissive in the bedroom, Jillian knew that Dean had always been holding back the dominant side of his personality. So after a hot as fuck office desk scene, they talk, like a good couple should. Dean is concerned she has been unhappy, but Jillian explained that she loved him, but now wanted to really explore their sexual relationship for the first time without always having kids and their friends underfoot.
When Dean comes home that night, he lets loose some the man he's been holding back. And holy fuck...Dean is amazing. (I just had to go find my husband while writing this review...reading it again was still just as hot!)
I couldn't believe The Awakening was only 35 pages. But I'll tell you, it was more than enough. The characters were likable, but this series is pure lady porn for married people. But it was done just right. Nothing too gross, no overly flowery words, and just enough kink to be realistic and not over the top. After reading The Awakening, my note to Erika Wilde said:
Ooooh! Holy fuck! You're in my brain! Give me more!!! .mobi please! I loved the first! Hurry! :)

Each of these books are about 40 pages. They are quick reads and they are good for pre-bedtime reading (if you know what I mean). If you are reading these alone, make sure you have a toy nearby, or visit my erotic toystore to pick up some of the items you might find in the books. Or toys you'll need while reading it. :-D
These books can be read individually (My vajayjay needed a break so I read another book in between).
My husband and I went through a similar sexual revitalization after about 19 years of marriage (thanks to some of my favorite sexy books). We both started sharing our fantasies more, and my husband's dominant side is hot as hell. He and Dean actually reminded me of each other. In the last 3 years, our marriage has become so much stronger and way hotter now that we finally came clean (or dirty) with our fantasies and brought some of the kink in. So I really related to these books. I realized that some of that hot spark we've had has been dying out again, but this series brought it right back!
So Erika, I thank you, and so does Mr. Ana. My vajayjay however (and the muscle I pulled) are not as happy with you afterwards.

-How attracted the couple still is to each other.
-Dean is so alpha and commanding. Yum.
-How the trust between them just made it all so much easier.
-Almost every sex act is something I have fantasized about or done and want more of.
-Though each of these were short, they were just right for what they are.
-The sex acts were long and detailed without using words that make me snort or roll my eyes.
-I never felt like I needed more, these stories delivered what the intended.

It seems strange to give this 5 stars when there really isn't much much character development. But that's not what we read this for. You know how sometimes you just need a good hard fucking? That's what this is like. Sometimes you need a little sex with your story, sometimes a little story with your sex. This series is the latter, and that's just fine for a change.
Usually when I read a novelette, I feel it is missing something. How good can something be in 40 pages? But I have to tell you, these deliver what they are intended for. Lady Porn for the married moms (though I think a guy would like these too). There was just enough story to keep you interested, and the characters were very likable. I never felt like I needed more story, it was just right. I look forward to reading Erika Wilde's next story and see what her spin-off series is all about.

Oh my...Janelle Denison has done it again! She sucked me in with the first sentence, held me in suspense, tied me up and made me blush. Jillian and Dean are awesome together. I connected with the characters right away. Though this book is deeply erotic, I wasn't scared of the scenarios. I felt safe, and that made the journey that much more exciting. Knowing that the couple are married, and have been together for 19 years, helped to ease my mind as well. I was able to buy into the whole concept, and it made it that much more realistic. They know one another, and their love for each other is quite palpable. The only thing I didn't like about this book is that it ended too quickly. The Awakening definitely whet my appetite for more in this series. I hope the next installments are longer. I read Janelle often, and this novella took my love and admiration for her to another level. Check it out for yourself. You are going to be left wanting more too.

Loved that they are married and as so often is the case, life became humdrum. She turns things upside down, determined to make things even better with her oh so hot hubby. The fact that she's still crazy about him and wants to further develop another aspect of that relationship is great. So easy to get caught in day-to-day life, especially with kids, and let this side of things slide. That spark he started, that made her good girl follow him into temptation as a teen, is still there. And instead of smoldering or going out, she's fanning the flame, feeding it, stoking the heat. And, as a married couple, there's that added element of trust and stability that free them up for anything...knowing its OK. And who doesn't love a bad boy... steel tempered with love... loosen the proverbial restraint in favor or the real deal. After 20 years, they've not only earned it but deserve it.

Thought I would read a little something while I walked on the treadmill this morning. Holy guacamole! Boy was it hard staying on without tipping my Nook or taking a misstep and falling off. Definitely got my attention! What a good little story to shake up a vanilla sex life. I'm glad that Dean and Jill were able to communicate. I think she got Dean's attention in his office that afternoon. Will definitely be looking out for The Seduction and The Taking.

Looking around for something quick and free as I didn't want to get out of bed and get a something off of Mount ToBeRead nor search through the folders in the Nook. It was a great start to this very hot, very steamy series.

This was a very hot and sexy novella!! Janelle has stepped into a new world of erotic romance in my opinion! If you love hot, steamy romance with some bondage thrown in this book is for you! I'm not a fan of the bondage stuff but it worked for Dean and Jillian! Can't wait for volumes 2 and 3.

I really enjoy this first book. Committed longterm couple find themselves in a runt after years of struggling to save money and bring up two sons now at college. Jill wants to spice up her sex life after years of vanilla sex behind locked door with her husband.

Talk about packing a huge punch in a little tiny package!! It's always a thrill to find a novella that manages to give the reader compelling characters and a storyline that doesn't feel half-baked, because it's often difficult to find such a thing in so few pages. But Janelle Denison does just that with this super-sexy look into the lives of married couple Jill and Dean, new empty-nesters who are now free to explore all of those non-vanilla desires they've both been suppressing. It was just a few dozen pages, but Denison managed to make each one impressive!
Jill is the type of character who speaks to housewives and mothers the world over; she's no longer the young and "perfect-bodied" woman she used to be after having her two boys, but she's still a sexy woman with strong desires to mix things up a bit with her hubby. Even though she knew the itch for something kinkier was there, Dean had always held back during sex in fear of hurting her. But now that their boys were moving on with their own lives, she wasn't about to take no for an answer!
Jill's plan to seduce Dean at his office was a brilliant play on her part, I mean she really had him cornered and wrapped around her little finger! And good lord, does the vixen in her bring out the animal in Dean! I loved his confusion that turned to ferocious desire, turning him into one hell of a sexy lover! They had an intense and passionate tryst that left them both wondering what was next, and hoping for a repeat. And I was right there with them on that thought, so I look forward to checking out the rest of the Marriage Diaries series to find out!

It's always a thrill to find a novella that manages to give the reader compelling characters and a storyline that doesn't feel half-baked, because it's often difficult to find such a thing in so few pages. But Janelle Denison does just that with this super-sexy look into the lives of married couple Jill and Dean, new empty-nesters who are now free to explore all of those non-vanilla desires they've both been suppressing. It was just a few dozen pages, but Denison managed to make each one impressive!
Jill is the type of character who speaks to housewives and mothers the world over; she's no longer the young and "perfect-bodied" woman she used to be after having her two boys, but she's still a sexy woman with strong desires to mix things up a bit with her hubby. Even though she knew the itch for something kinkier was there, Dean had always held back during sex in fear of hurting her. But now that their boys were moving on with their own lives, she wasn't about to take no for an answer!
Jill's plan to seduce Dean at his office was a brilliant play on her part, I mean she really had him cornered and wrapped around her little finger! And good lord, does the vixen in her bring out the animal in Dean! I loved his confusion that turned to ferocious desire, turning him into one hell of a sexy lover! They had an intense and passionate tryst that left them both wondering what was next, and hoping for a repeat. And I was right there with them on that thought, so I look forward to checking out the rest of the Marriage Diaries series to find out!

I enjoyed the premise of the story ... empty nesters trying to spice things up and reconnect. I was glad to read a steamy book that didn't involve 20 something virgins and billionaire boyfriends. I didn't find the characters developed enough. I put the book down for a few hours and completely forgot who the characters were and what I read prior when I picked it back up. Maybe the story was too short to really get to the meat of who the characters were ... if that is the case then the "book" should have been put out as one novel and not many short novellas. I'll probably give the next book in the series a chance because I do think the story line is a bit different and I like to have a few short stories lined up for days I am busy and need something quick to read.

This is the first book I've read by this author and I admit, I wasn't prepared to be so pleased! Extremely well written, touching, very realistic and smoking hot. Every married couple should be so lucky! I loved the way the story played out, with just enough back story to put you in the scene, and the fact that Dean is so achingly tender, yet so freaking sexy and alpha! Very much looking forward to reading the next three volumes.
