If life is a book, then the pages are being written as we speak; if the end is already written, and we skip ahead to read it, then it is not an ending but a beginning, and all the pages afterward are unwritten.
It is heartbreaking in more ways than one.
After all, it hasn’t happened yet.
But I will willingly read it again. Not when I need fluff, or smut, or dark and twisty. Decidedly not when I need a comfort read.
When the mood is right. When I need to. When a few tears are welcome, when I need cleansing, when I'm burnt out and need something to get to me. THIS story definitely does.
Should you decide to read it, beware of the Archive Warning. Even in bold shrift, I managed to miss it. Had I seen it, I would have probably given The Eighth Tale a pass, just like I passed on the other fandoms' similar fics. (Seriously, ) Which would have saved me a great deal of pain, but I'm still not sorry for the experience. I do read the warnings now, though. :D
“...you should have known that this would always happen—it’s always going to happen—”
A love that is inevitable, fated. Love that transcends time.. The Eighth Tale is beautiful. Painfully so. And despite the drastic lengths I take to avoid stories like this, as DayDreamer said, this will be revisited. And as masochistic as I sound, especially as I write this with red rimmed eyes and still shaky breath, it is worth it.
This story fucked me UP. It takes a while to really get into it, and then the ending is literally a sucker punch in the feelings. I started this because I was looking for some fluff and a happy ending. I pretty much got the exact opposite. If you're an emotional masochist, you'll love this one. The writing is spot on, the story reels you in, the characters are excellent, as always. My only complaint is that it ripped my heart out. But if you're into that kind of thing, you'll love this.
Time-travel Drarry. Draco comes back to try to help Harry in 7th year. Tells many tales of potential futures. Many of which seem to be Lettered's other stories. Unclear what actually happens. All? None? I'm confused but also heartbroken. Utterly stunning writing. Stunning.
