A romantic short story.
Cori Spencer doesn’t particularly mind being stuck in a refuge hut three feet above the rising tide in the middle of the night. She’s fallen in love with Lindisfarne, the tiny island off the north-east coast of England that’s isolated from the mainland by the sea twice a day. The problem is that she’s not alone. She’s stranded in a ten-by-four-foot wooden box for four hours with Ewan Macbeth, and that’s not going to end well. She’s either going to kill him or kiss him—and she’s not sure which option is the most likely.
Ewan flew back from the States when his sister told him Cori had become engaged to a man she didn’t love just to please her father. The Earl once threw Ewan out when he found him kissing his daughter, prompting her to end their relationship. Ewan’s never forgotten her, and even though he’s certain there can never be anything between them again, he’s damned if he’s going to let her marry a man who doesn’t appreciate her.
With only a bottle of Lindisfarne mead, a crab sandwich, and Angry Birds to keep them company, the two of them end up playing a game of Truth or Dare that forces Cori to accept the truth about her relationship with her fiancé, and Ewan to push her to the very limits to admit her feelings for him.
This sweet-ish romance contains some adult language and is therefore suitable for mature readers.

I tried to convince Serenity to call this book Hot Scot in a Box, but she wouldn’t. That’s my only complaint, really. That, and it's short. It's hard for me to rate anything shorter than 200 pages five stars. Nothing to do with the book -- just a personal quirk. The longer a novel is, the more I like it!
But this is a lovely book -- an easy-going, funny, occasionally poignant reunion romance that takes the “trapped together” trope to new heights by stranding the hero and heroine in a small wooden box above the ocean near the Isle of Lindisfarne. The setting is unique, the characters are fun, and it’s a great introduction to Serenity’s style. Plus, it's deliciously cheap. And did I mention the Scot? And the box? Yes.

A fun, short read in one of my favorite locations (Scotland, not a box). The author takes an engaging premise -- a couple is stranded at high tide, plays truth or dare and discover that their romance is still aflame. I'm glad the author didn't try to make it longer than a novella -- the premise wouldn't hold up much longer -- but I do wish that the ending hadn't been quite so definitive. After only a brief time together, is this couple really ready to ride off in the sunset so neatly?
Still, that is my only complaint, and I actually wish that romance writers would consider doing short novellas like this more often. And, I think the author should definitely consider Ruthie Knox's suggestion about the title. :-)

This is a sweet reunion romance, a short novella that I downloaded for free. Unlike most free reads, I would have been happy to pay for this one. I won't recap the plot, other than to say that the setting is unusual and the coastal area of Scotland is so vividly drawn that it's like another character in the book. I bought a couple of Serenity's other books after reading this one, I liked it so much.

Stranded With a Scotsman is set in a high-tide look-out off the Scottish shore. The setting is vivid. Serenity had me smelling the not so sweet tide, feeling the hard walls of the spartan, roofless shelter at my back, and shivering with delight at the sweet honesty of what happens between Cori and Ewan in that little box between island and mainland. My favorite scene involves the cutest game of Truth or Dare ever committed to the page.

I really enjoyed 'Stranded with a Scotsman' and couldn't put it down once I started reading. For a short story, both characters were very well drawn, and Ewan was delectable! It was a sweet romantic story, but the sexual tension between the two add some spice, and the banter between the Ewan and Cori was delightful. I'll definitely be trying Serenity's other books if 'Stranded with a Scotsman' is a taste of things to come!

Free on Kindle, I loved this sweet, romantic short story. My only complaint is that it was too short. I would love to read a whole book about Ewan and Cori's story. I didn't want it to end.

Some much needed fluff after yesterday's finished book.
This short story/novella shows us both sides of a second-chance romance's first encounter after 4 years of absence.
Short and sweet, still manages to move you with their longing.

Review – Stranded with a Scotsman – Serenity Woods – A short story
Cori and Ewan have a past that neither of them managed to really put behind them. Whilst Cori is visiting her friend Izzy, who just happens to be Ewan’s sister, she is shocked when it isn’t her friend who picks her up but was in fact her brother that she still has feelings for. They went to some causeway and got stranded by the tide leaving them stuck til it went back out. (I do think this was intentional on Ewan’s (behalf)
It’s sweet and caring and at times you want to bang their heads together till they realise they’re just waiting for one another.
The characters are portrayed well but a little wishy washy for me. But then I’m the sort of person who’d have stood up to her dad and would just tell the guy I liked him! That’s me though and I do like Cori’s naivety. She’d never of followed him and got stranded without that innocence.
Halfway through the book they finally kiss and admit they missed one another during game of truth or dare.
The truth game continues and we learn about the high class type of lifestyle Cori comes from and how it feels stifling to her. And she admits the man she is expected to marry in a few months doesn’t hold her love.
He convinces her not to marry the fiance (Henry I think, at least something like that) and you get the expected moment when they confess their feelings for one another.

Ewan and Cori. She's engaged to be married and Ewan comes and tries to talk her out of it. They have a history from four years ago when her father saw them kissing, told her to break it off and she did. She's marrying who her father wants her to marry. She knows that once she marries her husband won't let her work, just do volunteer work, etc.
I didn't like this book specifically because of Cori. This girl was a complete doormat and it got on my last nerve.

The only unfortunate thing about this was that it was too short. I wanted so much more time with these two characters, especially Ewan. Hmmm... a yummy Scottish accent, a moonlit night and some good old Whiskey.
Seriously, so in love with Serenity Woods' work. I feel the need to gobble up everything she's written just to ease my fix.

This is a super short second chance love story about Cori, an English Lady who is engaged to an Earl she doesn't love. She ends up stranded on the causeway to Holy Island with Ewan, her ex-boyfriend, and the two spend the night in a safety box, waiting for the low tide as he tries to convince her not to get married.
This was a super short and sweet story. Lindisfarne is one of my favourite places in the world and I could really picture the setting as I read this. I loved the intensity between them in the truth or dare segment and I wish we'd got an intimate scene of some kind to see that play out, but regardless this did end on a HFN so I'm happy either way.

This was a Bookfunnel freebie short story from the author's mailing list. The FMC is an earl's daughter who was persuaded to give up an unsuitable boyfriend once. Now she's getting married to some scion of nobility that she does not love, and the old boyfriend is back, trying to persuade her not to. They're stuck in some sort of structure because of the tides and play truth or dare. It was nice as far as it goes. There is little backstory and by the time this story ends, also no word as to how her confrontation with the patriarchy goes. A nice little snack that you can finish in one sitting.

This was different then most of Serenity’s books! She approached this book a whole lot softer, not so “hot” but, it is still a love story that makes you wonder how the end of the story will turn out! Or perhaps the next book, although, it isn’t a cliff hanger!

Stranded with a Scotsman is a great short Novella story. I usually end up disliking Novella's because you end up feeling like the story line is rushed. That is not the case with this story. This Novella is well executed. You get a snapshot into a pivitol moment in the Hero and Heroines interactions without feeling like you are missing tons of info to be able to relate to them. I would love to read a full length story about this couple just to see how they end up making her decision to break her engagement happen. This is a great short read!

I thoroughly enjoyed this little book. I don't have as much time to read, as I would like, so to find books I can read in one sitting and thoroughly enjoy is a treat. I have already read a number of Serenity/Faye's books none of which have disappointed me. Many of her books have sex/love scenes, some don't, this particular one doesn't, but she still creates great sexual tension with believable pacing and plotting. Thank you Serenity another winner for me.

What a story this was... I am not good on when the 19th Century was but I am sure having your daughter marry who you wanted was no "In" but I guess some parents never outgrow some things but I am glad she....

Who did she choose?
Which one does she choose? Ewan (the man she loved when she was younger) or Henry the she was engaged to. After 4 years apart Ewan came back into her life and complicated it. So who does she choose.
