I WAS MURDERED LAST NIGHT is now available. An excerpt from I WAS MURDERED LAST NIGHT https://www.amazon.com/murdered-night...

Anita's death while on vacation in New York City is no accident, but instead of the end, Anita discovers that it's only the beginning. Now on the other side, she appears to be connected somehow to Detective Olive Brown, the detective assigned to her murder. And to her killer as well.
Detective Olivia Brown wonders if the ghost is genuine or if she’s losing her mind.
Is Anita actually supposed to help solve her murder or is something else going on?
Can there be romance after death?
A murder mystery like no other.

At three hours after midnight, all was quiet in the hotel room, Olivia was in REM sleep and dreaming. Her eyes were darting around under her lids.
Olivia was making her way through the thick forest, and snow was falling, and it crunched under her feet. The woods looked stark, black and white though the precipitation made it pretty enough. She wasn’t on any path, and it was rough going, the terrain was uneven, and the detective was also on an incline. The further she went, the more difficult the trek. She looked down at her feet; the snow was quite a bit deeper now, and she was suddenly wearing old wooden snowshoes.
Tweet, tweet, tweedily tweet.

A red cardinal flew past her and landed in a birch tree, a beautiful spot of color with the white environment that surrounded her. It jumped several times, knocking snow from the branch to the ground. Olivia had a sense that the bird wanted her to pursue it, and so she did though the going was slow as the incline got steeper.
“What’s this?” A splotch of blood in the snow, but no way to tell if it originated from an animal or human. Olivia perceived a faint sound and it was necessary to listen intently. The Cardinal remained silent as if allowing her to hear whatever it was. She bent closer to the base of the tree near the blood where she observed a watch strap and part of the face of the watch, and when Olivia pulled it out, she could see that there was blood on it. So it was human blood.
A thin hand appeared from beneath the snow and grabbed her wrist, shaking free of it and then stood up. The bird tweeted again, wanting her to follow it and so she did. The slope now almost impossible to climb, but now Olivia could see the top and so kept going. As she struggled to move forward, she was able to smell burning wood, the moderate wind blowing it in her direction.

I don't usually read fantasy, but I started reading a sample of this book and loved the story so much I got the whole book. It starts with a horrific battle scene, between a awful King who loves bloodshed and wants to dominate every kingdom around him. There is one kingdom that is protected by a wizard, and that King is a kind ruler. I loved his family: Alexa his daughter and a awesome warrior, and his young son Marcus who is so inquisitive that he befriends a dragon. The dragons are wonderful, funny, cute and fierce. The knights are brave and each personality stands out. Storytelling at its best. My only critique is that it needed a bit more editing, and the slang that the characters used was jarring because it abruptly dropped me out of the time period. Still I enjoyed it and laughed at some of their antics. With a little polishing I would have given this book 5 stars.

Knights of the Dragon, Book 1

By

A. J. Gallant

King Chromos of the Yurrosy is on a rampage to kill all the surrounding kingdoms, finding it easier as many have lost their protective magic and their wizards are old with waning powers. Achakos and Adela, beautiful beyond comparison, are tired of fighting to the death. It has out served its purpose and they wish to settle down and have their children who will not die in fruitless battles.

The king also has the most dragons, red fiery ones who will fight the black dragons to death, not out of loyalty to their King, but because they're covered in a magic spell. In a neighboring kingdom the Four Knights of Joshuar are on a mission in search of a wizard to replace theirs, but upon returning home they are greeted by death and destruction. They, too, are tired of endless war, even as a red Dragon circles the sky above them, planning on killing them. Only Titus’s handful of magic dust saves them from the dragon’s ferocious breaths of fire.

The aging wizard, Adorok, has moments of lucidity, which King Darius takes advantage of, hoping to procure some protective magic. His feisty daughter, Alexa, a warrior as fierce as any man, even her mentor, Stone, much prefers to do battle with the Yurrosy before they are attacked and destroyed like most of the other kingdoms. The wizard does his best but Stone, Alexa and other knights need to find a stronger wizard. Even as they search, the red dragons are flying into black dragons’ territory, enraging the Dragon, Kai, who flies up to meet their assault with his own dragons. The red dragons, controlled by magic, are beyond reasoning. Such a battle draws crowds below since it has been 50 years since dragons fought each other.

This book by A. J. Gallant is a delightful read for lovers of fantasy, particularly with dragons who display humor and one in particular who bonds with a young boy named Marcus. The Dragon, Ryxa, and Marcus contrive a plan of their own to stop the massacre. An improbable idea at best.

Author Gallant is a true storyteller, which well makes up for some of the and editing needed in this book. His characters are well developed, and likable; the evil ones also interesting in their dark ways. Gallant has a bent for wry humor and fun as he writes a captivating tale of the proverbial battle of good versus evil. Will peace be possible without magic? Can dragons, both red and black help prevent death and destruction? Adults and YA will enjoy this book 1 as well as his just released,"Of Dracula: Hearts of Stone,"and “Of Knights and Wizards”. A new series is born . . . "Braeden the Barbarian: Forbidden City."

In a fantasy land full of knights and young boys, dragons of all colors and powers, kingdoms and wars, Knights of the Dragon by A. J. Gallant will take you away from your everyday reality and hold you captive to an amazing tale with his ingenious writing style! Am I going to give you a book report? Nope, this is too good to spoil with more than a brief recap, but I will say, I have learned more about dragons than I ever knew! I was mesmerized by this story, starting with a young boy who braves a high mountain to discover the lair of a family of dragons, befriending one young dragon and beginning on his journey to his destiny. In a land where the kingdom with the most powerful wizard could rule all and dragons could be trained or spelled to serve as an air force of sorts, fierce battles were common, castles were common and the feel was medieval, but, the dialogue was modern, with no apologies! Designed to enthrall younger readers, this fast-paced tale will enchant even the most “mature" reader, thanks to A. J. Gallant’s ability to color his pages with his words and paint a scene you can feel, taste and touch.

I learned that even dragons have prejudices that can be overcome! Love conquers all and that the legend regarding wizard dragons is true! Oh, and baby dragons are born talking and act just like little kids, except for the fire-breathing part! Get the idea I loved this book? Loved the style? The story? YEP! I did and I highly recommend it as a wonderful escape from reality and its daily drudgery.

When an author can create like this, you know they love their work and it’s a joy to read! The details will astound you, yet are not overwhelming, making it perfect for every age! I want to thank A. J. Gallant for the opportunity to read and share my thoughts on Knights of the Dragon.

Knights of the Dragon is the first in a fantasy series by A.J. Gallant. In it, we meet King Darius of Leeander, and his two children - Alexa and Marcus. Alexa is a strong, forthright young woman, who doesn't want to be shoehorned into the typical 'Princess' model. Marcus is her younger brother, who is always getting into scrapes. The country of Yurrosy is currently trying to take over the world. The red and black dragons are at war. The wizard of Leeander is dying.

This is a good story, with different stories within one. They do all tie together, and make sense, so that's also a good thing. With a smooth pace, excellent world-building, and a group of different and interesting characters, this book was a delight to read.

The only thing I'm not sure about is the age range for this book. For the majority of the time, I would class it as Young Adult, but then you read about Alexa and Stone kissing, and then going into a tent and 'making noises.' Now, they're not actually doing anything, but the inference is there.

On the whole, a great read and definitely recommended by me.

Really good humoristic book where adult's boring war schemes are totally overpowered by new thinking of kids of both dragon and human species.

3.5 stars rounded up to 4 stars because, uh, dragons. I just love dragons. Although juvenile at times with quite a few grammar and vocabulary mistakes, this story was surprisingly entertaining. With so many different characters viewpoints the story for some of the dragons and Knights felt unfinished. I am hoping these stories will develop in book two. Good fantasy for the YA crowd.

Charming young adult story that follows several intertwined characters. There is a black female dragon allied with a young prince. Her brother becomes romantically involved with a red dragon, a cultural no-no. The prince has an older sister who is trained as a knight, somewhat to her father's dismay. She and the kingdom's first knight are resisting their obvious attraction to each other.

The human's realm has been protected by a very powerful wizard who, unfortunately, is fading fast as is his protective spell. The prince and his dragon friend surreptitiously recruit knights whose home had been decimated by their common enemy to search out a new wizard. The knightly princess and cohorts are officially tasked with this goal by the king.

The red and the black dragon become mates and she lays/hatches three eggs. The male baby is a dragon wizard, something so rare that they've practically been deemed a myth. This causes the red and black dragons to call a truce. There are, however, evil yellow dragons that will need to be dealt with. I believe the purple dragons are neutral. There may be other colors (green?) that will appear in the future.

Several twists and turns that I won't reveal. I'm not sure if I will read the sequels as I generally prefer a more adult read but this was fun.

Enjoyable

Interesting story lines from different angles. Dragons, magic, wizards, knights and kingdoms at war with a little romance...humans and dragons.
