Ella and Matthew have many differences, but they share a common goal: to find the one person they are meant to spend their lives with.
Years ago, Ella Rhodes looked across a crowded cafe and saw the man she wanted to spend the rest of her life with. She left her number, but he never called. Wondering if he somehow missed the note on the back of the receipt, she spent her twenties waiting for this man to walk into her life again. After all this time, will Ella finally discover “the one” she’s been waiting for? Or, after being sent on various blind dates, will she give her heart to someone else?
Meanwhile, Matthew Ryan breaks up with his long-time girlfriend. Searching his heart he wonders if there is really a “one” for every person, or if there is simply a good, better, and best. Where does Lydia, the girl who would do anything for him, fit into the story of his life? Confused, Matthew sets out to explore his options and find the love he’s been looking for his entire life. Will he find love before it’s too late or will he lose everything?

Sometimes my penchant for Kindle freebie romances leads me wrong. So, so wrong. Just like this book and its concept of true soul mates.
From this book we learn: 1. If you see a random guy/girl in a coffee shop or wherever and fall in love at first sight, you should stay true to that feeling and wait for life to bring you together again. Even if it takes 8 or 10 years. Even if you know nothing about this person, and you're not sure if they're available, or if they'd even be interested in you (or you in them, once you got to know them better). Just wait, and avoid all other romantic entanglements. Disregard the advice of all of your friends and family, telling you you're being idiotic. Because you felt these feelz and they must be true!!! 2. Corollary: If you find your one true love and that person dies, you should remain faithful to their memory forever and not pursue another romantic relationship afterwards. Ever.
Does this sound as unhealthy to anyone else as it did to me?
In the opposite corner, we have the "What if" guy:
Q: What if everyone actually had only one soul mate, a random person somewhere in the world? A: What a nightmare that would be. https://what-if.xkcd.com/9/
Preach.
Look: Do I think true love at first sight can happen? Yes--I know a few people it's happened to, and they're still together after many years. Do I think that more often infatuations burn themselves out after a few months, or are one-sided and will never be reciprocated? Also yes. I had a massive crush on a guy from age 15-16. And one on a different guy from age 17-20 (yeah, that one lasted a loooonng time). And another on a different guy for about a year when I was 30ish. And several shorter infatuations in between. In all of these cases I was friends with the guy, and in none of them was he seriously interested in me. I had a roommate in her late 20's who pined after a guy for about 3 years; she was convinced they were supposed to get married. Never happened (he married someone else; I'm not sure what became of her). I married a guy I had dismissed as someone I wasn't interested in romantically. My feelings unexpectedly changed (surprising both of us).
I just think it's dangerously delusional to imagine that you are supposed to hang your hat and your life on the kind of one-time meeting described in this book, or on any crush or relationship that isn't happening. Give it a fair shot, briefly (and by that I mean maybe a month or so, tops, NOT years). Then, if nothing really productive has happened with the person you're hoping to get together with, move on with your life. Open yourself up to other interests and pursue other relationships. If it's really supposed to happen, it will, and the process won't be helped by you waiting around and closing yourself off to other possibilities. /rant
“Sometimes when you take chances you lose chances. And sometimes when you lose chances, you gain something else. Don’t live for chances. Sometimes it's better to lose chance and gain purpose. Live for today. You’ll find so much more joy."
It is not so often that I come across a book and really agree with all that is contained therein and it is also not so often that I would stop reading and ponder on the truthfulness of mixed up words turned into a captivating book, today I fortunately and happily did. This book just hits all the right spots, tugged all the heartstrings. It was a perfect book for love and life. It is as if love, life, fate and everything that comes with it are summed up by this book.
Once I started reading this, I wasted no time finishing it. I was hooked from the very first page until the last phrase. This book tells a story not quite like the other. And oh the twist! Never saw that one coming, I was so ready to accept how the book turned out, thought to myself I could never get the ending I wanted, I guess that's how the author wanted to portray the book, something realistic. But I couldn't be any happier with how the book ended, just perfect, not the way I imagined it to be but way more beautiful. I really commend the author's way of writing, brilliant and flawless.
By the end, this book has me both laughing and crying.
Spoilers.
SIGH....
I love that this book is all about love. Sure there are books with romance, but this book was mainly about finding 'the one'.
Ella and Matt. I thought for sure I knew where things were going. So many times they just missed each other from meeting. And when they finally do... She tells him to marry someone else! I was sooo frustrated when that's how their date ended. When Matt goes off the next day and sets up what sounds like an amazing proposal, ugh, i just want to slap him and say "No! you're supposed to be with Ella!" I mean, that's what we were building up to right?
But wait!
Matt really loves Lydia. And Gavin?
AHHHH! He's Mr. Coffee shop!
Oh my word. That was the BEST moment I've read-the moment where it had me laughing and crying at the same time (even now that I'm thinking about it). It was that moment when Gavin, Matt, and Lydia are all sitting in the living room when Ella is on the news doing an interview. And I'm like "oh shit" because Matt's going to hear her story about seeing a guy in the shop one day (mr. coffee shop) and how she's been waiting for him all this time. But wait again! Because its GAVIN that has a tear running down his cheek and running out the door. To see Ella. Because he's MR. COFFE SHOP!
So he goes out running around Philly looking for her, but he ends up having to wait till the next day. And when they DO? My goodness. Enter an overload of happiness because that right there is just amazing. It was amazing. I wish their reunion/first real meeting could go on a little longer before the end.
I can't believe the twist. Sheesh. More importantly I can't believe they BOTH were waiting for each other. Sure Gavin lost hope and bottled up all that emotion, and Ella shared her hope freely... But still, it was so amazing.
Even though things ended way differently, I wouldn't change it at all.
Ella's idea of love is very admirable. A little extreme, but I love the idea of "the one". GAH! I can't wait to read Gavin's POV.

What can I say I loved this book it was epic and I believed for 95% of the book one way to be completely smacked in the face with another scenario WTH I like cried my eyes out for Ella thinking this is devastating and cursing the author lol sorry ms grey but oh mymymy was I wrong it was just beautiful I can't wait to read more def a fan 4 life
It teaches you a lot. It makes you look at life with a whole new perspective. It teaches you to never lose hope. Even if you face disappointments and your dreams get shattered, you should always be hopeful. Hope that there will come a better day and a better time.
You should live one day at a time. Don't be scared or worried about the future. Live in the present and face whatever that may come in future with a smile on your face.
I loved when Sarah told Ella, "It’s my joy that makes me want to serve others more. But it’s not just about that. It’s about giving something back. One day we’re all going to be dead. What kind of memory will I leave behind in the hearts of those who knew me? A black cloud or a sunny day?”
It made me think about myself and my relationship with my mom and brother. What memory do I want to leave behind with them when I'm no more there? A happy one or a sad one? After reading this book, I feel like changing myself. This book made me realise few things about myself which I want to change but never came across doing it. This book gives you hope. It's a beautifully written book which at times makes you smile and at times makes you cry. It truly touched my heart. ;)
Okay so first of all, I'm so glad I took the chance to read this book, which is not even in my tbr list. I just found it in a random site, liked the cover and then curiosity comes in.
Honestly, I don't know if the fact that I just came from a fresh break up, (I'm okay no worries c:) helped me enjoy reading this book, or just that it made me appreciate it more than the other readers did.
Well this book is really open to all. Single or in a relationship. To everyone who's waiting for "the one". I bet we all do. Waiting for that someone who'll end the questions and doubts, that's where love finds you.
I love this book's simplicity. From the writing to the plot. And really looking forward to the next book because of some unanswered questions, which I believe is the purpose of the second book. And the twist was just wow, really unexpected.
I have learned so much from this book. It'll give you hope, change the way you look at life, and teach you how to take chances and risks in love and just about everything to make life worth living. ;)
I love “Where Love Finds You” so much. Usually, it always takes me a day or two to finish reading a story. But in this book, it took me only 2 HOURS! And I’m tellin you, that’s my new record to break. I started reading from 7 to 9 A.M only. SWEAR. I hadn’t eaten any breakfast and my stomach was already growling but I just can’t put the book down.
Seriously, I was so into the book because it talks about the language of everyone: LOVE. There’s someone around town worth waiting for.And I, too, don’t believe in blind dates. C’mon. One don’t dig in blind dates because we don’t make our own way to our fate, right? I love the idea that you know it’s the one just through eye contact. You’ll know it then by heart. And that’s how Ella and Gavin. The moment Gavin appeared right in front of Ella, they knew they found their missing piece in each lives.
And Miss Grey, SHE CAUGHT ME THERE. She made me believed how love played its card. One look, and you’ll know it’s the one because hearts don’t lie.
I loved it! I cant wait to see what happens in the next one. If I were to write (which I have thought about doing) this is where my head would be at. I love these types of books and since I have read all of my Nicholas sparks collection a few times through, I am excited to invest in these new characters. On Marilyn's first book, I say congrats! I finished it in only 2 days and couldn't put it down. Didn't see that happening at the end but that is why I loved it. Kept me intrigued throughout the entire book!
Just like any other romance books from authors I never heard, I never set my hope. Not because I don't believe them, but because I want to read their books without any pressure or whatsoever because stories in romance books tend to get predictable, reuse and as cliche as they can be. So I read this book without anything in my mind except that it's another book that I hope I can enjoy.
This book in fact as cliche as romance movies I used to watch once in a while but it works for me in a strange way. Reading this book is like watching Serendipity where the characters meet every single possible way but never actually really meet. You know what I mean, right? Those scenes always make me mad, in a way. I always frustrated and want to scream at the characters and tell them to turn around and find their soul mate just in front of or behind or near each other. That's what happens with Ella, the main character of the story. She searches and waits for her soul mate for ten years. She literally searching and waiting for him. At some point I can't believe of the way she thinks. It's like her sole purpose in her life is to find him. And at the same time she misses other things in her life. Her friends said she's being idealistic, I think she's being a dreamer. I consider myself as a dreamer too but I don't think I've ever think the same way as her. On the other hand, there are so many things that happen to her and other characters are also happen to me. What they think about their love ones, marriage life and life itself too familiar for me because one way or another I'm thinking it too. Although I didn't quite like the way Ella thinks in the beginning, I get the idea and understand why the author put her that way.
I wonder why I enjoyed reading this book so much with all those cliche things. Maybe it's because somehow I can relate it to my life or maybe it's because I read this book right at my birthday. I know that I get older but haven't had things I really want to and kinda afraid that my life will be as cliche as chickflick or chicklit. Either way, I think it's okay if I read or watch cliche things in my life just to have choices and take chances, like Ella said
"Sometimes when you take chances you lose chances. And sometimes when you lose chances, you gain something else. Don’t live for chances. Sometimes it's better to lose chance and gain purpose. Live for today. You’ll find so much more joy.”
I obviously take chance out of many choices of books I have for this book. And I'm happy I take it because Ella and other characters kind of teach me something here. I ended up thinking that this is a good book for my birthday! Couldn't be more perfect.
Second Edit: OMG! This book is amazing. It has been playing with my emotions form the beginning. By the end my heart was racing. It still is racing as I try to put my feelings into words. OMG!OMG!OMG!OMG!OMG!OMG!!!!!
Okay. This book is about chances and dreams getting into the way of reality. It's about how choices can change everything even if it was just a small one. It shows that waiting can bring good things, but you have to be careful of what your waiting for, if it's stopping you from living life. It has given me a really good life lesson actually. It seriously touched my heart and will remember this book forever since its moral teaches me so much. (Gosh, I'm getting all touchy feely now. Dang it!)
'Where Love Find You' has a really unexpected twist at the ending.Seriously, she's playing mind games or something. She was playing with our image of a stereotypical romance novel. My brain was like... messed up by the end. One minute your sad and you want to change everything then the next your screaming 'WHAT?!?!', reading as fast as you can and your heart racing like hell. It was like, this whole time I was thinking of ways these 2 can be together when it was supposed to be a totally different story/ending. Gosh, this is so hard to explain without spoiling anything. So since I cannot say anything more without giving things away... Read the next line closely:
READ THIS BOOK ASAP!!!!!
Seriously, you will not regret it. My hours spent finding for this book is now proven worthy.
And one last thing:
MARYLIN GREY IS A FREAKING GENIUS!!!! How she comes up with these things, I will never understand. ______________________________________________________________________________________________________ First Edit: I swear. That girl on the cover looks like the girl who played Gwendolyn in the Rubinrot/Ruby Red movie. Seriously... She looks EXACTLY like her. Except with light brown hair...
3.75 stars for this one! Got me yearning for something since page 1. And i must say that i am glad i read this! There's just something about the way Marilyn writes that makes you feel the characters, the mood of the plot and just basically everything. I like the portrayal of love in this book.. It just teaches you that nothing, absolutely nothing, can beat the feeling of being with the right person at the right place and time. That twist! Oh my goodness. I knew something was up and i simply couldn't put my finger on it and BAM. My heart seriously leaped for joy!! The last chapters are just... asdfghjkl ♡♡♡ READ IT READ IT READ IT. I am an honest-to-goodness reviewer so i just have a FEW minor observations. :) I am a hopeless romantic but some areas in this book are a bit too cheesy for my taste.. The book revolves solely on love and that's not a bad thing! Nope, nope. But the fact that ALL the characters seem to be thinking about nothing but finding the right one blah blah blah. Especially the boys! I felt that it was a bit unrealistic... They're GUYS! so.. idk. SOMETIMES, they sound like females in my head... All of them seem to be in this state of beautiful brokenness because of love, and again, that's not purely a bad thing. It just shows that all of us have a fragile side. But maybe if the "cheese" (ooooh. i love real cheese though.) in this book had been taken down a notch, it'd definitely be a 5-star for me. But oh well. JUST READ AND ENJOY THIS FREAKING BOOK! IT'S GREAT, OKAY?! "That loving feeling and that oh-so beautiful yearning for something magical.." - This is basically how i would sum up my feelings for this book. XD Teehee. Oh, and Gavin. ♡ Thank you, Marilyn for writing a sequel in which he is the main character. I can't wait to read it and more of your books~!
From the time that I began reading Where Love Finds You, I could not put it down. I found myself easily and truly identifying with both main characters, Matthew & Ella. Marilyn Grey does an amazing job of pulling you into their stories and leaves you begging for more at the end of each and every page. If you prefer high tension romance or erotica, this probably isn't the book for you.
A hopeless romantic at heart, I simply adore Ella. Her desire to not settle for just anybody, but to hold out for "the one" is something I think anybody in love can appreciate. Simultaneously we get to know Matthew as he struggles to find if his devoted girlfriend Lydia is in fact "the one". Marilyn's ability to paint a picture with her words submerges you into the lives of Ella & Matthew, as well as the other characters that you are sure to fall in love with along the way.
Where Love Finds You takes you on a dual journey of soul searching with one common destination: true love. Does love at first sight even exist? What extremes would you go to to find your soulmate? From start to finish, Where Love Finds You helps to answer that within the lives of the characters who are not only lovable but incredibly believable.
First I'd like to say thankyou for picking me to read this book, I loved it. I especially love the surprise twist at the end, it really did stump me! Ok, I have to admit that iv read this book twice already. You have no idea how thrilled I was tht it turned out to be ? all along, he was by far my favourite. I kind of dont get the 'love at first sight thing' but this book throws a different spin on it. If you see something you want, and hope beyond all hope that it is obtainable, then it will be obtainable. Id like to read more about Sarah and where she is actually going, as I'm starting to believe that this mystery boyfriend is maybe just a cover up for something deeper. Two best friends surely wouldn't hide future partners from each other, anyway I'm rambling now, I can't wait for the next book next year and am really hoping that ? and Ella are the real deal, I will be put off if there not as the whole story was a big lead up to just tht.....until then. Can I add that I have just had an email off of the author of this book and it was so so lovely to know that the reviews are being read, and I'm super excited for the new book coming out in August, write it in your diaries people...a super new author is in our midst...can't wait
The story is too good to be true. But i love it! Maybe because i can relate to the story. Many times in my life i asked if there is really "the one" for me. If there is someone out there who will complete me, who will fill those emptiness in me, who will love me and whom i will love beyond the stars (forgive me for the cheezy lines), the one i will spend the rest of my life with. I have the same hopes and fears as Ella. And i also have the same habit of overthinking. So many what ifs.. Nah!
This story tells to enjoy life as it is. Love will find you in ways you cant think of. It will surprise you and make you feel stupid for all those overthinking. Take chances. Enjoy life. Live, just live. Ella's love story maybe too good to be true. But who says it cant happen? You can never predict what love brings you and where love finds you.
Ooopps! There's more! I never expected the twist. I already accepted that the story will end not the way i wanted but it just ended wonderful! Whew! Cant wait for the next book.
“Where Love Finds You” is a really beautiful story. I love the old-fashioned notions of love, how Ella and (?) waited years for each other. I really dislike the lust-at-first-sight kind of love stories that we get these days so I am very happy to come across this book. I admit that at first I thought this story would be cliché so I never saw that twist coming. I finished this in just a few hours because I had a hard time putting it down until I reached the end. Thank you, Marilyn Grey, for restoring my faith in love stories and romance writers!
Ms. Grey wrote an amazing story that kept me riveted right until the end; and what a wonderful ending it was! The supporting characters were just as important as the main characters. I loved all of them - there wasn't one character that you actually hated which is quite unusual in the books I have read. The only problem I had is that WINTER is so far away for the next book! Pick up "Where Love Finds You" - you will NOT be sorry!
One of the best book I read this summer, I have to say that I really loved it! I couldn't put it away after the two first chapter! The book relate the story of two broken souls, both of them trying to understand the real meaning of Love. I loved how Marilyn wrote the story from both POVs so we could actually understand the story from both points. I wouldn't say more, don't want to spoiler the story for you, but go read it, you wouldn't be disappointed!
My whole reaction reading this book: Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeh. What the actual hell did I just read?! I expected too much.
As a hopeless romantic myself, I enjoy this book a little. I believe it really happens in real life, we wasted important people, we take them for granted or we waited too long for the wrong person.
I think it was a romatic notion of finding love and waiting for your one true love, letting Love find you and not always trying to search it out, I thnik the "twist" as the end of the book was semi predictable, but I still thought it was an easy read, and worth giving it a try.. I would read a second novel in this collection
I was hooked right from the beginning and couldn't put it down. It may be a small book but it is packed full of emotion. I was surprised by the ending but I still really liked how it ended. I can’t wait to read the next book.
I received a free copy of this book through GoodReads.
I told my friend yesterday that I would love to read a book that is not based on the male protagonist's perspective. Geez! This instantly made it come true. I guess it's fate! Haha. Kidding aside, i maybe felt it in my heart. I love this book! Gives so much hope to hopeless romantic like me!
I believe love really finds you, not the other way around. I think that sometimes, some people looking for love doesn't end up really falling in love with the person but only on the idea of being in love. I'm also a big fan of "waiting for the right time", and I believe that when that time comes, you will know. That's one (or rather two) of the reasons why I liked the title and the book itself.
Where Love Finds You reminds me of the phrase "so close yet so far away". There's someone out there, and sometimes that someone is so close and you just have no idea yet. You just have to be patient and wait until love finds you.
I admire how Ella waited patiently and faithfully for that 'someone', and that no matter what the others told her she didn't lose hope. I can also relate on some of her self-reflections (and I'm sure a lot of other readers, too). I can relate on how she thinks about her past and wonder what would have happened had she chosen differently, if maybe she's the one who needed to change, and so and so. But then I'm also reminded that dwelling so much in the past won't change anything, and you have to remember that you're living in the present and you just have to make the best of it. As Dee said: "If you keep trying to fix the past and plan the future you will never live today."
And Matthew. This guy is always over-thinking things. I've picked up a thing or two from his relationship. If you don't keep tending the fire, it'll burn out. You'll think about so many what ifs and get carried away with it (is there a one? is she it? what else is out there? blah blah). You get carried away and then you stop being content. You stop being content, you and your partner starts drifting off. I just love books that get me thinking about things in life, and this book has so much of it.
In the end, I didn't know if I want to laugh or hurl a furniture over a wall because of the twist. And a twist it is. I like how Miss Grey played with her characters; it reminds me that nothing is ever as it seems. Boy, oh boy, was I tricked. But a book without a few tricks is boring, right?
I'm rating this only four stars because there were some parts that I felt like Ella and Matthew have the same "voice". Different point of views and its "voices" is what ruins it for me sometimes. But other than that, I really liked this book. Now I keep wondering when and where love will find me.
If you're a hopeless romantic like me, please give this book a try. ;)
4/5 stars. Don't get me wrong. This book is pretty good. I liked it actually. It was an easy read for me. I'm quite so picky these days because of class schedule. I just saw this one on the site where I download my ebooks and decided to add it on my TBR files. And afters days of contemplating, I've decided to read it. One thing I like about this book i that it make you think of LIFE, LOVE and the possibility of circumstances. Well I hate to admit it, but I'm a certified hopeless romantic. I can cry over some chick flicks or even in the not-so dramatic scene in a movie. You can say that I'm a sucker for romance or anything that deals with the word LOVE. :D But yeah, that's me. Deal with it. lols. Anyways, I love how the story goes in this book. Though I think that it would be better if they reunited earlier than what happened. It was a romantic reunion for me though. Who'd have thought they would meet again, right? And to be honest, I never saw it coming! I thought there would be a twist, but it ended the way I never thought it would! Woah! Kudos to the author! That made me love this book even more. Looking forward to read Gavin's POV in FOWN FROM THE CLOUDS.
Omg that plot twist! I can't wrap my head around it. This was a sweet read. Both povs were a little too idealistic for my taste but I like to mix things up so it wasn't very painful. It was actually a nice change from my usual sassy, kickass reads.
Some parts were plain weird though. What kind of person gives out personal details like this to the guy who she's hired to paint her house within 5 minutes of meeting him? “Anyway, I screamed at the top of my lungs. I just screamed his name over and over and over again. Then I ran to the other car. No one there either. That’s when I saw him. My heart literally felt numb. Across the street I could see his arms twisted behind his head. His femur sticking out of his thigh. Clothes stained red. With more red pouring out and making a puddle around him. I ran to him." (Heidi about her husband's death)
The oversharing apart, it was a good read. I wanna drink a gallon of hot chocolate and curl up under my blankee and bask in the sweetness of the hot chocolate and Ella's fateful love story. <3
Good that it was a free read. My reaction after reading this book was 'Ugh...thank god it ended'. After checking out other reader's ratings and reviews, I was hopeful that I am going to enjoy this book but alas! I kept wondering when would this book end. Where is it leading?
My 2 stars are for some real thoughts about love and life in this book else it is a big drag. I am romantic person myself but couldn't make myself enjoy this book at all. The situations where we meet people, we waste too much of time for someone undeserving or we take things / people for granted etc. were all real and I feel a lot could have been done with these situations.
Out of my habit of not leaving a book in between so had to finish it. Somewhere in the middle of the book, I thought is it going to be a thriller or what.
For me it was a complete drag. Well short of utilizing excellent thoughts and situations.
