Sarah Thomas’ life is comfortable. She is almost finished with college, has a steady boyfriend and her own apartment. It isn’t until she stumbles into her new next-door-neighbor that her comfortable world is turned on its side. She has more than homework to worry about now.
Liam Downs is tattooed, tall, sexy and a smooth talker. He had wanted Sarah ever since she stumbled over his dog outside his new apartment complex. Having her was something he had to have.
Until he met her again as a student in his new Survey of Civ class.
I saw this on amazon.. the storyline is a little predictable but I'm a sucker for sexy covers and the hero Liam sounds yummy.. so what the heck I bought the damn book! lol.
Liam and Sarah had an instant attraction..the sexual tension was all over the book I had a hard time putting it down! The story flows good and I like Liam's character- sexy, protective, possessive and a total swoonworthy! I enjoy reading his pov specially when he's talking to himself and trying to hold off his attraction to Sarah.
Now, I didn't care much for our heroine Sarah.. she has a jerk boyfriend but is attracted to her neighbor Liam.. (not going to say too much spoilers here) but what bugged me is that she couldn't make up her own mind.. she goes hot and cold towards him, made some decisions that I couldn't relate- for example talking to Liam behind her boyfriends back.. or agreeing to show him the lake eventho she already knew that it's all wrong.. (now I'm not really pissed that she did this.. coz to be honest I wouldn't say no to Liam too! lol) but then she'll be like.. "omg.. this is all wrong.." but all of a sudden she's kissing him then the next thing she'll realized again that it's not right because she already have a boyfriend.. oh but the next day, she gets jealous coz some girls talk to Liam... pissed and sad so what does she do? Go clubbing...but darn it, Liam is in the club too so she decided to dance with a guy...not her boyfriend... not Liam.. but some random guy in the club! Can I say slut? ugh... she's really hard to like.. it was frustrating to read her. grrr!
But all that aside, I wish the book is a little longer... it would have been great to see more character development but other that I did enjoyed this book. It's a likeable enough story and a great sexy hero that make this worth the read! I give this 4.5 stars mainly because of Liam! lol.
I'd like to thank everyone for reading my work. I appreciate everyone highly. I would like to let everyone know that if you have any suggestions for my work, you can write me on my blog. Or if there is something you want to see in books these days, that you don't see enough of, write me! www.allakarbooks.blogspot.com.
I would love to hear any suggestions anyone has. Teach Me is the first in the Love Me Series. The second installment is Play Me and it will be out this summer. I'm also working on the second installment to Make Me Yours.
Thanks to everyone that has giving my work a chance.
For me it was just too predictable, you kind of knew where the story was going from the very first meeting between the two characters, was really no build up.. If I was rating the cover though now that would get my 5 star hotness of approval..
4.5 stars! Teach Me was a short, enjoyable read! I thought the relationship between Liam & Sarah moved extremely fast and they could have been more discreet. But he was hot and had me at "Hi puppy." as well! ; ) I would like more of them and would love a second book!
This had the potential. Liam was yummy. Yes it was predictable, and that wasn't my issue. It didn't flow very well, it sounded cheesy. It just didnt do it for me :(
This was an amazing read. First, I got to say that the cover is amazing because it is a cover of sexy hero. This is a student-teacher relationship story about Liam Downs and Sarah Thomas. The story flowed perfectly and contained some steamy scenes.
Sarah Thomas is a girl who is about to graduate with a creative writing major. In the beginning of the book, I found her character to be quite annoying as she was not able to make up her mind whenever she was around Liam. However, as the book progressed, I saw less of that, and it was nice to see her character developed more.
Liam Downs is a teacher who teaches Sarah's Survey to Civ class. He is smart, sexy, and a bad boy. However, he is the type of bad boy who has a heart of gold. He is the perfect gentleman when he wants to be, and a great person all-around. The chemistry between the two of them is undeniable and started right at the beginning of the book.
The ending was cute. . I was shocked when I found out that when . . Overall, a fantastic read.
Not even sure how I came to have this book to read but picked it up for a quick read over the weekend (waiting for a table in a restaurant, in fact). Boy, did it need an editor...typos all over the place, grammar issues my 5th grader could edit, words misused and while the story between Liam and Sarah was sweet enough (except jobs seem to grow on trees for Liam which was weird)....the story line with Matt was all over the place...he was jealous, controlling, apparently a sex machine who needed no sleep but not in the fun hot way just the annoying make you tired cause you can't sleep at night way, sleeping with her BF who had always hated him previously, a potentially abusive rapist...oh, and manic depressive to boot. Was all that really necessary in the story just to give her an out from her 'eh boyfriend so she could date the hottie next door. This one was short and really, even for a goofy short sexy romance, really should be a little more carefully done.
This has so, so much potential. It would've been better if it wasn't so rushed and if so much drama wasn't packed into such a short space; it felt like I was jumping from one dramatic event to the next one in a matter of two lines and I just couldn't get the suspensfulness that I wanted from it - I didn't really feel scared at all for the couple (they have so much potential, too!). I'm overall disappointed in this book because there really is so, so much potential and it just wasn't executed well enough to do it justice.
I did like the characters, though, hence the two stars - the characters were the winning point for me (and I would've liked to have been able to get to know them a little better...) and as I've said, the premise holds so much potential - I just wish it had been written differently.
This book had a great story an the characters were great so such happened it an it had me on the edge in some bits but Liam made it al better he is the sexy tattooed bad boy an my god he's gorgeous xxx
Another short and hot read!I do love this sexy posessive alpha males, and Alla Kar sure knows how to put them in life! Solid read, big 5*! Looking forvard to another awesome read from this autor!
Perfect ending I loved this fast paced, steamy, college hockey novella. It’s full of sassy banter, fun, forbidden chemistry and perfect connection. Hannah and Nolan had me cheering for them from their very first meeting. I loved watching their feelings grow and I swooned when he asked Hayes (Hannah’s brother) for forgiveness instead of permission.
Let's just say when I found out Liam had a tattoo I was a goner, "his outstretched arm acquired long, lean muscles, and tattoos covering from his wrist to the top of his shoulder." Also he's just so damn polite you can't help but love him right off, "looks like ya got yourself a little scratch, darling. I'm sorry. We didn't see ya coming. Let me take care of that." Ugh Matt I didn't really like him can't he see that Liam and Sarah have something going on and need to go do something elsewhere, "you mean the guy that was checking out your a** last night is your new teacher?" Liam's mom cracks me up, "I told you to call me, Liam. Why haven't you? Are you okay? Are your classes alright? Are the kids nice?" Over-protective much? Oh lord Liam you are something else entirely, "I don't want anyone else kissing your neck, do you hear me?" Good lord, Sarah is one feisty woman, "how dare you take me into the bathroom and then have Shay on your arm. I'm not even supposed to be here. I'm supposed to be in my apartment with Matt. Not here, wanting you to take me. You're not who I need in my life. You're confusing me. I just effing met you and now I want all of you. I've never had a desire to cheat, until now. I've never wanted my...teacher. What the hell is wrong with you?"
Overall, I enjoyed this book as a cute, fast, read while procrastinating. Read it if you wanna fill up a little bit of time. I fell in love with Liam, but I wasn't so happy with Sarah. I didn't agree with a lot of the stuff she did...why didn't she just break up with Matt as soon as she met Liam?? It just made the love story seem dirty if you know what I mean. Also, she got mad at Matt for cheating on her but she did the same thing...pot calling the kettle black, much? And she kept calling Jamie her best friend... didn't seem like her best friend to me! Cody was a much better friend to her even before Jamie hooked up with Matt. It was a pretty sexy read, even though there was too much talking during those scenes. The chemistry was intense.
A classic meet-cute scenario with a twist. Girl stumbles over dog, finds guy attractive, guy finds girl attractive, and she turns out to be his student. CLASSIC!
Sarah always thought life was simple until she meets her neighbor Liam.
Liam is smoking hot and tattooed. Need I explain more!
I know most people can relate to having a crush on at least one of their teachers growing up. It never fails, but man I wish I could of had one that was Liam hot.
Great story but impatiently waiting for the next story.
I paid 77p for his on amazon and didn't expect much...... But, I really enjoyed it! A lively story with fantastic characters. One sinister bad boyfriend, a funny gay housemate and a best friend who is a real skank, add the hottie teacher who's moved in next door and you'll enjoy the book. It's a sweet east storyline, easy to follow, only downfall for me was the ending, There is no indication as to where this story line is heading, or how it will end, but it would help if the write would indicate how many books/volumes they plan to release on this story.
Four-star for the story itself, not for the need for editing, which should bring the rating down at least one star if not more. Fun novella with yummy, young professor next door. Love the gay roommate, the dogs, the sensible collegiate trying to balance a conscience and lust-drive and loved to hate the bone-head jock and the ditsy once-best-friend. Read in a few hours with many interruptions 'cuz the story was direct enough to withstand frequent interruptions.
This was a cute little story. It's written in interchanging POV's of Sarah & Liam.
The real issue here is the editing. It's nonexistent. I don't care about misplaced commas, or lack there of, but there were spelling and verb tense errors. Example: "that was impressed" instead of "impressive."
While the editing errors were torturous to read, I still liked the story and would read others by this author. Hey, I'll even volunteer to edit her other books! Seriously!!
I began reading the sample on Amazon.com. On the very first page there were grammatical mistakes and they did not stop there. I couldn't handle reading past the first three pages. The writing style is just not for me. It's very play-by-play, and just doesn't have that realistic 'flow' of words that I like. I really do like the synopsis, though.
For a New Adult book this was a sweet story. Two people who are close in age find love. Their attraction to each other have them going against the rules to be together. A little, angst, a little drama, a some sexy times keeps the reader interested even though the book needs to be edited for errors.
Full of spelling mistakes (what the hell are shaky shoulders when you are denying something??), predictable plot lines, and a really unlikable heroine. She cheats on her boyfriend multiple times and is shocked when he does it to her.
And the gay best friend was so stereotype. It annoyed the hell out of me.
Good book, good story. Again, this author needs to get a better copy editor to check the grammar/spelling. The cover lured me in - story kept me reading, but I almost gave up reading due to the errors.
This author has GREAT potential and I wish them luck!
For some reason I didn't enjoy this as much as Alla Kar's other novel, "Make Me Yours". It was an okay novel, but there were things that made me dislike the novel overall. I am still a huge fan of Kar, though, so I will be looking out for more of her novels in the future!
5* loved it. HEA and drama but a great story and Sarah and Liam are fabulous characters. I hated Matt and loved Cody. Brilliantly written a and hot sex. I read it in one night and couldn't put if down.
I loved the book. I wish it would have been longer though. it surprised me when I found out it was based in Monticello though. I am actually from Crossett so I am familiar with all the town's listed in the book.
LOVED IT..... LIAM IS ALL KINDS OF SEXY! I HOPE THERE IS A CONTINUATION TO THIS STORY FOR LIAM AND SARAH....JAMIE WAS A SLUT AND THE WORST BEST FRIEND EVER AND MATT HE WAS THE EPITOME OF A DOUCHE BAG!!!
