Ugh, I only read this one because it was a sequel to the "Love at First Sight" which started the Blossom Valley series. Clearly, no one had seen a newborn baby in any recent time period for this book to have been written this way -- and Janine, who as a character in the initial book actually was quite mature for her age, seems to have lost about 20 IQ points in this book, maternal sleep deprivation notwithstanding. Craig, initially described as such as sensitive guy in LAFS is now a stereotypical sexist dad who has also clearly lost some level of maturity in his 4 years at UC Berkeley. The concurrent plot of Lisa and Vince Renfro was just annoying and I have to skim it on re-reads, as Lisa deserves a good slap for being that juvenile for a 15-year old. The slang was horrible and even more heavy handed than in other Blossom Valley books -- adding "super" to a word does not make it more colloquial! No careers, futures or plans on how they will actually support this child in the future are even mentioned and the fact that she is now thinking, as a senior at UCB, that "maybe she should teach" is late and ludicrous. Calling the teens "you kids" when she and Craig are just 20 and 21 was laughable. And the allergic rhinitis plot for little Timmy was ridiculous as allergic rhinitis does not manifest at age 1 month, so medically it was completely off. The only redemption was the charm of her Spanish students in Janine's evening class. Worse than average in its genre.
