Claire suffers a coma after being attacked by a deranged serial killer at the end of book 4 and she struggles to remember what happened to her and who the people in her life are. Lots of twists and turns in this one Claire and Bud have to outwit and out think the killer in order to catch him.
This book starts a little slower with Claire's recovery and Nick's despair at almost losing her and then Claire not recognizing who he is to her is so disheartening until he wins her heart all over again. Joe and Lizzie play their part in Claire's recovery as well.
Ladd's characters become part of an extended family and we have a fondness for all of them as the series continues. Thomas Landers is truly an evil man obsessed with Annie/Claire and the insights into his mind and his obsession are frightening. Great story with a great ending.

An easy 5 stars!~~~ What an awesome read! This was a more complete book for me due to the amount of Claire/Black interaction. There is absolutely no shortage of angst, either. I thought it couldn't get any more nail-biting/ heart-wrenching than the beginning...but, of course, I was wrong. The ending was absolutely excellent...from the dramatic conclusion to the epilogue. Looking forward to the next(:

Canton County Detective Claire Morgan has just woken up from a 3 week coma to find herself in luxurious surroundings, tended to by a hunky guy named Nicholas black. Or so he says. She has retrograde amnesia from a car crash. She was being abducted by Thomas Landers (a psycho serial killer who's been after her since she was a little girl) when the car went off a bridge. Now her memory is gone & so is Landers. But we know better.
In alternating chapters we meet "Jesse", Landers in his latest disguise & follow his plans to get Claire back. He's a truly creepy, twisted individual with a long psych history & multiple murders to his resume.
Meanwhile, Nick is happy to have Claire among the living even if she has no idea who he is. All she needs is a little time to remember. A few days later, she's back at work with Bud, her partner & they're faced with a fresh murder. But it's just the first as they come to realize Landers is still around & leaving bodies in his wake as he gets closer to his target.
I guess it'a a matter of taste but this was not a favourite for me. There are huge holes in the plot, improbable situations & many leaps of faith to be taken.
It's hard to believe a sheriff would allow a detective to return to work several days after waking from a coma when she can't remember anything about herself or anyone else. I'm thinking OH&S would have something to say about that. We know Claire is tough & brave because the author & every character repeatedly tells us so. But there is a fine line between brave choices & stupid ones. Also, toward the end when they know who Landers is & where's he's living, for some reason the hunt is put on hold for a day. With his track record & body count, it's hard to believe they would wait several days before putting his picture out there to law enforcement & investigating his hideout when they know what he's capable of. It makes no sense but is a convenient plot device.
Several of the characters come off as two dimensional & there's little chemistry between Nick & Claire. Maybe it's the after effects of the coma. But he must be a chiseled hunk because we are repeatedly told how every woman swoons in his wake. Maybe a little more show & a little less tell.
The book does have two things going for it: a bad guy who will give you nightmares & a gorgeous setting. But I'm afraid I need a smart, well thought out & believable plot to keep me interested & ultimately, I ended up skimming to the finish just to see who was left standing. If you're already a fan of the series, go for it. You know what to expect & obviously like the characters so you should enjoy this one as well.

This is a continuation of Enter Evil.

I found this book a bit hard to stay focus until after 100 pages. I guess I was in a hurry to get past Detective Claire Morgan's trauma.

The book is good and once the actual investigation gets going, it is fast paced. The draw back is that we know who the murderer is from the get go - I'd rather not know until the last few chapters. But I guess this is a story the author had in her head and she just had to put it on paper.

It's not a bad book, but I can't give full stars for it. It does wrap up nicely with some adrenal pumping action. The murderer (serial killer) is such a sick and twisted psychopath - enough to make one shudder.

I do recommend this book because it does continue on from Enter Evil and it does wrap up the 2 books.

Very intense thriller. It was the kind of book that makes me squirm and you are almost afraid to see what happens next. Really disliked the bad, psycho killer, he was definitely creepy.
Claire Morgan is in a coma after being in a car that went off a bridge. When she comes to she has no memory of recent events and it is taking her awhile to remember. Her lover is also a doctor and has been taking care of her but she doesn't remember him and doesn't quite trust him. She eventually starts working again as a homicide detective and the murders she is investigating is directly related to her. Those around her are trying to help her and they are also in danger because of the deranged killer who is after her. He is obsessed with her and will do anything and kill anyone to get her. She finally remembers everything and it freaks her out. It also makes her more determined to get the guy.

Excellent story

Once again, Linda Ladd has come up with a story too good to put down. Claire Morgan detective, was again stalked by a deranged and evil psychopath who had her in his car, tied up and going over a bridge when there was an accident sending Claire into the water. She was rescued but lay in a coma for weeks. Many twists and turns and a great read over all. Read it!

This was a huge difference from the last 2..... Claire was at her most annoying and the only interesting character was the killer. What a let down.

E cosi succederà a Claire.

This.Book.Is.AWESOME!!! It feels more complete than the previous ones in the Claire Morgan series. The interaction between Black and Claire is intense, personal, and deeply caring. If you've read any of the previous books, you know their relationship is intense and rock solid, but in Remember Murder, it is taken to the next level. Maybe a couple more levels. In this book, you get snippets of all the previous books through Claire's recollections.

Claire has suffered a horrific accident while in the clutches of Thomas Landers, the psychopath who has been tracking her since she was a little girl. Claire thought he was safely behind bars in a mental institution for the criminally insane. He was. Until he escaped. And turned up at her door. As Remember Murder opens, Claire has been in a coma for several weeks and is being cared for in Black's private penthouse. He has never left her side and is apprehensive about her mental state once she awakens. When Claire does wake up she remembers nothing of her past. She has no idea who Nick Black is or what their relationship is and she isn't about to take his word for it. As the story unfolds, Claire regains her memory bit by bit, just in time to become a victim once again.

I know that when I pick up a Linda Ladd/Claire Morgan book I'm going to be totally engrossed in the story from the first page until the last page. Remember Murder proved that once again. I've been hooked on this series from the very first book, Head to Head. I have never been disappointed. Ms Ladd has created intense and interesting characters and storylines that keep the reader on the edge of their seat. As much as I'd like to dive right into the next book in the series, I need to take a mental break and read some brain candy for awhile. That is how involved you become in these characters.

This is one of my very favorite series, and I loved this installment. I was very impatient to read it after the way things were left in Enter Evil. Remember Murder finds Claire Morgan waking after being in a coma for a few weeks. She was abducted by a serial killer, who then drove off of a bridge. He is presumed dead. Claire has some memory loss, and doesn't even remember the good looking man claiming to be her lover. As Claire struggles to remember and recover, it becomes apparent that her abductor is still alive and still obsessed with her.

Claire Morgan and Nicholas Black were wonderful in this one, as usual. I thoroughly enjoy both of their characters. There was the requisite amount of suspense, and the captivating story kept me from being able to put the book down. I was very satisfied with the way events played out.

This is copied from my review of "Head to Head," the first book of this series.
--------------------------
This book scored on many counts, but was annoying in other ways. It was compelling enough to addict me to the series of which I have three read, and two to go. One interesting technique is to interweave the plot through the eyes of the "homicide investigator" (Clair Morgan) and the always insane serial killers. By moving the lunatics' stories around in time, earlier portions of the story are added as needed.

The things that are less appealing to me are the unending smarmy references to her (Clair's) sexual exploits. I'm no prude, but enough already. Very High School-ish. Also, the plots are not for the squeamish. There are no punches pulled in this department. So this series is not a flawless experience, yet I a compelled to read them all. Go figure!

Different Claire, and not in a good way

I love Claire, but she's an amnesiac. She doesn't act like herself, but that is kind of expected. Black and the other characters were completely out of character here. I couldn't believe they would do the things they did.

Then there was the pov issues in this book. This is the first time we get Black.s pov, but also the first time Claire isn't first person. The author struggled with this at times.

Another switch is we know the bad guy from the beginning. All of the plot twists were telegraphed. The ending was rushed as well.

Grammar is usually an issue in this series, but it was better this time around (still a bunch of significant issues). Hire an editor!

Anyway, I like the bad guy and his evil ways. I just wish something had been done to hide his identity.

I have read other books in this series and was not disappointed with this re-introduction to Claire Morgan's endeavors.

Claire has just awakened from a month-long coma to learn she doesn't remember anything about herself, least of all this man who watches over her and claims to love her, Nick Black. Slowly, however, her memory returns, and she finds herself on the trail of another murderer. Her life, and the lives of those close to her, are in danger, again.

It helps to have read some of the other books in this series to understand the implications of the case Claire is involved in, but it isn't completely necessary. This series is intense, detailed, and riveting. Hold onto your seat and prepare yourself for a suspense-filled adventure.

This is the fifth book of the Claire Morgan series by Linda Ladd and I have to say I hope its not the last. I originally picked up the series because it was suggested as romantic suspense, and while there is a steady relationship between Claire and Black throughout the series, I'd have to classify these books as plain ole suspense. I've read a lot of books and this series has some of the most unique, creepy, realistic cases I've read about. Linda also.writes from both the killers perspective and the main character which gives you the opportunity to try and figure it out as you go. I've really enjoyed reading these books and would definitely recommend them if you like suspense.

What seems to be the last in the original series starring Claire Morgan and Nick Black.

Again a creepy serial killer is on the loose and targeting Claire. The twists and turns and the insights into his mind are very compelling reading.

I liked the fact that the good guys won in the end. The story does open a possibility of more Claire Morgan stories which would be good.

I'm anxiously awaiting the next book which will be out in Dec. I have to admit it will be difficult since I just read the first 5 in a week and a half, lol. This one definitely left me stressed and anxious but when you read all 5 in a short period of time you tend to get a bit attached to the characters ;)

Perfect story

Linda Ladd....perfect book. This has got to be my favorite. I absolutely love the flow of this story . As with all of your stories my favorite is how you weave the seriousness, romance and humor. Please keep it up. All of the characters are a family they may suffer through the story but please keep them all and maybe add some new ones down the road.

I didn't care for this book as much as the others in the series. It felt slower paced and a bit disjointed to me. The characters were familiar, and that was nice, but I was glad to finish it. I am hoping the next in the series will captivate me more like the previous books I have read in the series.

Good mystery filled with very likable characters. My only real complaint is that this book was number five in a series and there was no indication of this being part of a series on the book description through Nook.

Hard to Get Into

It was hard to get into this book, but as a fan of Linda Ladd's previous works I stuck with. And sure enough, it ended up having an okay story. I'm definitely looking forward to the next book in this series.

Not my favorite. Might have read it too soon after book 4. Didn't like reading the parts by Thomas "Jesse". He was creepy, but the licking and chopping off heads was done over and over.
I'm hoping the next book will get back to the first 4, which were quite good.
