H Is for Hockey: A NHL Alumni Alphabet

Formed in 1999, the National Hockey League Alumni Association is affectionately known as "Hockey's Greatest Family" for good reason. Members of the NHL Alumni are considered hockey ambassadors, supporting the game and its history through many charitable causes and programs. Written by one of the game's foremost historians, this book pays tribute to them and the sport they love. Adding a personal touch are the memorable quotes sprinkled throughout the text. When 17-year-old Sidney Crosby was drafted by the Pittsburgh Penguins in 2005, he said, "This is amazing. It's been a lot of hard work and a lot of sacrifices. It's unbelievable!"

About the author

Windsor-born, music-industry man turned hockey historian, Kevin Shea is the real deal. He has the heart of the game, mind of a librarian and the memory of a goal judge.

From his experience working at the Hockey Hall of Fame to his 100 Grades of Shea series on Substack, he chronicles the sport like a man documenting a living myth.

Kevin's 22nd book, out in time for Christmas 2025, Barclay Bear and the Forest Rangers Hockey Club, is his second foray into hockey books targeted, but not limited, to children.

3.25 stars I like this alphabet series ..some of the letters are a stretch but I get it it! You can just read the story part or you have the margins that are almost a book in themselves!

I would say a good hockey book for younglings complete with short bits of info on the history and culture of the NHL.

i thought this is a good book if you're wanting to kill some time it is a good picture book it only took me 30 minutes to read. it is a good learning book for all the abc and it mactches it with something so it gives lots of detail

I'm a big hockey fan. This book was filled with facts I knew( and gloated about) and lots I didn't know.
