Quite a lot of action, and some surorise bits at each separate books ending. But I barely could give these 4 stars, though.
This former FBI agent do not give a very good impression, so either she was not a top agent, or she lost some skills after resignation from the bureau. The sparking incident that led to her resignation do not give a good impression about her.
But in the end, things get solved, the killer of her brother arrested.
Sadly, Sofia is no match to Margot Harris from those series with her name on them.

Fantastic

I loved every page in this series. It is actually a continuing story with a brief stop as she solves another case. I couldn’t put it down when started it and highly recommend this series to anyone who enjoys crime stories.

A good read

Ex FBI agent, Sophia, returned to her hometown, working as a PI. Her brother, Cameron, had disappeared twenty years previously. The five books follow her search for answers, as well as the other cases she undertakes. There are a range of characters, well crafted and authentic. I cared about the characters and shared their emotions.

Sofia Sims, former FBI agent and current PI, returns to her hometown after several years away. It's a sad reunion as she is still grieving that her 18 year-old brother disappeared 20 years ago. While solving cases of murder, insurance fraud, and spousal abuse, her brother's body is uncovered, and her high school sweetheart is charged with his murder. Sofia will stop at nothing to discover the identity of the real killer, including almost getting herself killed. All the stories are intertwined with some characters playing major parts. So many twists and turns and false leads. I couldn't stop until I had read the entire book as I needed to know who the bad guy was and how Sofia was going to find him. Jean ARC Team

Sophia a former FBI agent who made a big mistake in her job led her back to her hometown and opening a PI business. Still trying to find the truth of her missing brother who has been missing for 20 years throughout the books, while she finds many mysteries she solves along the way, while digging up the mystery of her missing brother whose body has turned up. Now she is set to find out who murdered him, why and what did it all mean before she becomes a casualty as well. This is a fantastic page turning series that keeps you reading. I really like this series and Sophia is a great character well written and likeable. I received and ARC of these book but the opinions expressed here are strictly my own.

Sofia Simms is a former FBI agent that comes home to work at a PI firm. The local police department, where her ex-boyfriend, Wesley, works, asks her to look into a murder of a beauty pageant contestant. The next cold case is of a 30-year-old kidnapping. The next case is of a controlling husband and two people missing. Another case is of a man dying on his wedding night. Sofia's brother's body is found, and evidence points to Wesley. In trying to prove Wesley's innocence, Sofia gets kidnapped. This novel with the series of cases was hard to put down. I did not want to stop reading.

The books started out slow until the character had some depth. Sophie is a good investigator, that has secrets. Going home after a failed mission with the FBI in which she resigned.
She is a very bulldog like when it comes to investigation. She will keep digging until she gets to the truth.
Highly recomend this book. If you have not descovered Nora Kane. She is a great writer who tells a good story who keeps you involved and interested through all the twist and turns.
Thank you for another great story.

Powerful, gripping mystery series.

Nora Kane has nailed it again with another powerful, gripping mystery series. This one is a cleverly intertwined series of five independent mysteries that powerfully build into a single overarching mystery. I loved the characters, the plot and the relationships that developed in this phenomenal series. One of the best series I've ever read.

I read this series as part of an advance reader team and am providing my honest opinion.

Although each book has a mystery to solve, the overall theme is Who killed Sofia’s brother. The characters are described well and the intensity grows as the stories progress. The last book was a super page turner. A well written story I enjoyed.
My favorite part was a simple but meaningful sentence; “He chose family, he chose life, and to have hope for the future against all odds.”
I received a free copy and am writing this honest review voluntarily.

Gripping , thriller reads. Sofia goes back to her hometown and sets up as a PI , she’s called in to investigate dead and cold cases ( excuse the puns) as well as kidnapping . Action packed suspense angst . Nora has surpassed herself with these gems . Very well written with great characters and plots

Nothing like binge reading a good set of mysteries. Lies buried under lies and coverups. This was a twisted path to the truth, and it was a struggle to get people to tell the truth to help save Wes, which I found frustrating. Loads of drama and suspense.

This is another great new crime mystery thriller series from Nora Kane, and you’re going to love the Sofia Simms character, who is a no doubt about it super star. This is a terrifically compelling series. I can’t wait to finish the next three books in the box set, but I had to tell you how excellent it is so far. It was entertaining, and at times full of tension and/or intrigue. The great thing about a boxed set like this in that you don’t need to wait to start the next book in the series. So get your copy now and get set for a thrilling ride and excellent mystery.

An enjoyable series that I feel should be read together as the story continues seamlessly from one book to the next. It’s more like going on to the next chapter and otherwise would be more like a cliff hanger. I thought Gunner’s character could have been developed more to add even more interest to the story.
