There has been a flurry of robberies in the Town of Cresentville in the last few weeks. Jack and Fiona are investigating the murder of Manuel Sanchez, the manager of a local car wash. Is his murder just another in a string of drug crimes that has hit their area? Or is the manager's wife planning to leave with the bag of insurance monies? Or has the alleged mistress lashed out after finding out her lover has been lying to her for two years? Or is one of the cash-strapped employees guilty of murdering their boss for the bag of cash that's found in the victim's car trunk?
The case is complicated enough when Jack receives some shocking personal news that turns his life upside down and turns the tables on him and Fiona. And this is before the DEA makes an appearance and pressures them to solve the case by Friday -- which gives them only three days to solve it!
Who murdered Manuel Sanchez? And which bag of cash was the murderer after?
ABOUT THE
Each book is a separate crime and/or mystery (police procedural) that is resolved by the end of the book. There is a character arc and continuing story regarding Jack and Fiona's lives. This continues from book to book. The books can be read alone as there is enough background information for things to make sense. However, the series is best enjoyed by reading them in order.

This was an exciting and thrilling read as a murder is discovered at the car wash and we find ourselves down in the deep dark world of drugs and robberies. Jack and Fiona Must solve the mystery and murder within three days all the while dealing with personal issues that turn their world on its head. It’s gripping, it’s suspenseful and I found myself enthralled from start to finish.
I enjoyed this murder mystery. Jack and Fiona have a lot to deal with on this case, murder, drug lords, organised crime and their own personal issues. I found it dragged a little at some points, but then the story picked up to a satisfying ending. I would recommend it. I received an advance copy of this book and this is my honest review.
A body discovered stuffed beneath a car at a local car wash sparks a murder investigation which brings Jack and his partner into the world of under cover drugs agents.
Balancing the investigation with the complexities of their own personal lives our cop duo seek to discover the evidence that links the car wash to organised crime.
An interesting plot balanced with relationship problems for Jack and Fiona made for a great read.
I've not read books 1 & 2 in this series but that didn't stop me from enjoying book 3
I thought that this was overall an okay read. The story starts well but seemed to me to be a simple tale padded out by more romance and religion that I was looking for in a murder mystery. The book would also benefit from more editing.
Surprise ending to this ho-hum series. I'll admit, even though I find Fiona very annoying, and I usually don't like love stories interrupting my mysteries, this one is so complicated that I've read the whole series to see how it turns out. That's a first for me!
