Elemental Covenant #4

Bishop's Flight

Rate this book
The sins of the past will burn you.

Four nights. Three days. The human son of two powerful vampires has been taken from his home, and if Carwyn and Brigid can’t find him, the delicate balance of power in an immortal haven might just go up in flames.

Las Vegas holds a special appeal in the immortal world. It’s a city of darkness, debauchery, and vice; a city where inhibitions are low and blood runs hot.
Rose Di Marco and Agnes Wong have been running Sin City as immortal bosses for nearly a century, but when their son is kidnapped, they turn to their neighbors for help.

Carwyn and Brigid know how to find the lost, but what they don’t know is why Zasha Sokholov, a Siberian fire vampire and offshoot of an old crime family, became fixated on them. Carwyn has his suspicions, but all Brigid can think about is a fifteen-year-old boy who’s been taken as bait. She’ll need a clear head and the help of some unexpected allies to find him.

Bishop’s Flight is the fourth book in the Elemental Covenant series by Elizabeth Hunter, ten-time USA Today Bestselling author of the Irin Chronicles and the Elemental Mysteries.

“We may try to run from our past, but it finds us. We can put continents—even millennia—between us, but in the end, the sins of the fathers will come back to visit.”

Bishop’s Flight by Elizabeth Hunter
Elemental Covenant series #4. A spin off from the Elemental Legacy series. Paranormal mystery. Can be read as a stand-alone but better as part of the series as there is an overall ARC. This book isn’t necessarily a cliffhanger, but there are unfinished issues at the end that will be part of the next book.
Carwyn Bryn and Brigid Connor are elemental and altruistic vampires. In this story, they travel to Las Vegas to search for a kidnapped son of the vampire leaders of the city. Proof of life is received but there is a deadline that must be met or the boy’s life will be forfeited.
Carwyn and Brigid use both their detective skills and their vampire abilities to search for clues knowing the kidnapping may have been directed at them as an underlying goal.

Intense. The game of chess has been around for a long time and the use in this storyline is impressive with descriptions of pieces in history and their importance by Lucas. His analysis and ability to express his thoughts make him brave and able to quasi remove himself, at least mentally, from his perilous situation. I hope we eventually get to see more of Lucas.

From the author notes, the next book will merge with the Legacy series so now is the best time to catch up!

“Jesus, Mary, Joseph and the wee donkey.” Brigid laughed as she turned to him. “You’re filthy.”

“I am.” Carwyn stood before her stark naked, massive and grubby, his red hair sticking out in unholy directions. “Still devilishly handsome though.”

Brigid blinked away her tears. “Do you know how I adore you?”

His blue eyes softened. “Do ya?” His smile was soft and uncertain. “Get in the shower, Brigid Connor. I need to wash up so I can do sinful things to you and I don’t want to get my chest hair singed.”

I received this book for free in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.

Bishop's Flight, book four in the Elemental Covenant series, took me on a journey filled with suspense, vampire politics and a little sexy time on the side. I came into the world of Elemental Vampires rather late and in quite a haphazard manner. Book 2, Martyr's Promise, was my first read of the series, followed by book 4. Fortunately, the books can stand on their own, however, after spending time in this world. I am eager to learn how it all started.

In this instalment, Brigid and Carwyn face finding the location of a kidnapped human teenage boy. The setting is Las Vegas, and the vampire leaders of the city are the boy’s adoptive parents. The leaders received proof of life with a deadline to hand over their city or the boy will die. Now, Carwyn and Brigid find themselves in a race against time to locate the boy before it’s too late.

While searching for clues, to aid in their investigation, Carwyn and Brigid discovered that the kidnapping was a ploy to capture Brigid’s attention. The situation grew more intense, which pushed Brigid into taking calculated risks.

The game of chess played a pivotal role in the story. The game is all about strategy, and we see how well the rules were applied. It helped the kidnapped victim to maintain his mental composure in the face of danger.

Brigid and Carwyn’s love for each other shined throughout the story. I loved how well they worked together and how in tuned they were to each other. It’s interesting to know that Carwyn was a former priest, while Brigid was a former heroin addict.

Bishop’s Flight ended with the main plot wrapping up, however the danger to Brigid and Carwyn remains. It left readers wondering what will happen next, and will this dynamic couple but an end to the reign of terror in the next instalment. This review was originally posted on Totally Addicted to Reading

I am intensely satisfied with how this story developed - in fact I actually think this was my favourite of all the Elemental Covenant series. It kept me hooked from the first chapter right up to the last sentence. These two make such a sweet couple and happily we do still get to see their ongoing romance sprinkled into the mysteries they’re trying to solve. As always, Elizabeth Hunter’s writing style truly plunges us directly into the story and I found myself searching for hidden clues and pondering the authenticity of the delicate and devious social relationships between various characters right along with our main characters. I don’t play chess personally but the symbolism and analogies about the game were so artfully dropped into the story that I found myself making those same references internally as I pieced this plot line together. I might need to learn chess now. This story references quite a few characters we’ve met in other Elemental World books (some minor, some major) and when I finished I found myself going back into other books to read more about certain characters and remind myself about some details I had forgotten. You don’t need to do that to enjoy the book, but knowing all the rich backstories does give even more depth to this story. While this book doesn’t end on a cliff hanger (thankfully), we do clearly see the set up for the final book in Carwyn and Brigid’s series and I for one am so excited to see where this all goes! Zasha is giving me Tenzin-before-she-befriended-Gio vibes and I am absolutely here for that and very curious to know where their character development arc is going to lead them. While some of the earlier books for Carwyn and Brigid felt more like offshoots in the Elemental World to me, this book has pulled everything full circle and truly replenished my excitement to read more about all my favourite characters. I received an advance copy of this book and I’m delighted to report that it exceeded my expectations!

4.5ish

"Bishop's Flight" was smart and twisty. I docked half of a star because this books ties directly into another story, which I didn't read! Apparently, the main antagonist of this Elemental Covenant books crossed paths with Brigid and Carwyn. (I'm thinking it was in Paladin's Kiss, since that is the only book I've missed.)

This mystery kept me on the edge of my seat. The reveals were delicious crumbs for this reader. Brigid continues to be engaging. She's still a bit unsettled. Watching her evolve into champion of the vulnerable is cathartic. It's such a smart way for the author to make thrive. It's like Brigid is on the cusp of become a Power in this urban fantasy universe.

There's only one more book planned for Brigid and Carwyn. I look forward to seeing Brigid's final metamorphosis as an unique immortal. Bring it on, Ms. Hunter!

As always I love to see a new vampiric power structure introduced and see how that works in the area of the world it’s in. Vegas was a very fun setting for such a serious storyline, I appreciated the light once again shown to illuminate the darkness often overlooked in such environments. Brigid and Carwyn’s ever evolving relationship is a treasure. I will never tire of Carwyn’s pure spirit and Brigid never ending pursuit to protect the innocent. They are a powerhouse playing in the shadows of the elemental universe. It was also fun to see the enigmatic Oleg on the page again, even for a short time. Any Oleg fans out there like me? No? Ok, then he’s mine 😏 😂

On to more of the review!

It takes an author of such adept skill in nuance to be able to play a game as long as Elizabeth has in her Elemental Covenant series. Now, I can’t say for sure, but I’m a big fan of guessing and basically trying to find breadcrumbs wether they are there or not! 😆 BUT I feel like the bigger picture in this series, the underlying ‘Why?’, is going to blow my mind in Tin God next summer. She has been laying the groundwork on this storyline for a while, and honestly I am so flipping impressed at how she’s written yet ANOTHER Elemental series that I’m THIS I’m invested in. This storyline is wonderfully wrapped up and at the same time has me on the edge of my seat dying for the next book to see what happens! Cliffhanger? No, but certainly in a spot where you are salivating for more. See? She’s a maddening, brilliant author. I’ll be preordering the paperback of the next book as soon as it’s available!

4.5 Checkmate ☆

Book 4 in the Elemental Covenant and there is just nothing better than this series I know I sound like a broken record, but I adore Brigid and Carwyn. Always have and always will.

As a favour these two head off to Las Vegas for a new adventure. Brigid and Carwyn need to help those who cannnot help themselves. Be it vampire or just the ole humans but vampires are always involved and here it is no different. They are tasked to find a missing person. An important person. But as with everything in the world of vampires it is not easy. Only four nights. Four nights to get answers. In the end it was intentionally that they landed in Vegas.

Zasha Sokholov is fascinated by Brigid, the fire vampire. He would like to spend more time with her, they just have a funny way of going about it. But the plot is deeper than any of them think. The series is expanding in the most fantastic ways be it Oleg Sokolov or Mika Arakas.

This series has everything to make it a perfect read. It has humour, fantastic characters and an amazing world. The plot is as always action packed and delightful to read. Quite nail biting as you never know what is going to happen. I know I am biased, but this really is a must read!

My apologies for the delay in my review Ms. Hunter.

A 4.5 stars read.

“We may try to run from our past, but it finds us. We can put continents—even millennia—between us, but in the end, the sins of the fathers will come back to visit.”

I'm a big fan of this series, vampires with elemental power, yup loveeee it.

What I like:
- vampires with elemental power, those power upped the action.
- the politics and power play of vampire in this world where human and vampire coexist.
- the kidnapping, we know who, but the why is a big mystery and are there more people involved, yup I love it when I keep suspecting a lot of characters.
- the chess. I love that part, a boy who loves chess so much and use it in everyday life.
- the characters. Love all the characters, loveeee Brigid and Carwyn they're just perfect mate, love the banter. Even Zasha is intriguing, I really want to know what's behind her action.
- the steaminess. It's vampire story, I expect nothing less.

What I don't like: none, I just enjoy it through and through.

Recommended: absolutely. If you're looking for a fast-paced full of action vampire paranormal romance mystery, you have to try this series.

Vegas. It's Vegas. What could possibly happen when Brigid and Carwyn are asked to come to Vegas?

The backdrop is Sin City, and the Vampire VICs are in need of Brigid and Carwyn's special skills. I won't delve into the situation much in order to avoid spoilers, but you will be hooked into this book from the opening pages.

Brigid never really wants to get involved in these "capers," but once she meets the VICs and gets the scent of the case, she's sunk. Her heart for the lost is too big, having been a lost soul once.

Carwyn is the life of every party, but when his mate becomes involved, he knows to allow her the space to do what she's best at, helping others. His strength as a mate is amazing. Gives me a bit of jealousy!

This continuation of the Elemental Covenant series is not to be missed. While you can read it as a stand-alone, the context, background, and world that Elizabeth Hunter has created will enhance the story much more if you start at the beginning. You'll thank me when you do!

Elizabeth Hunter is such an amazing author!!
This series puts a new spin on vampires, merging the blood sucking with elemental abilities to give you some fangtastic characters to ride or die with! Carwyn and Brigid are the types of vampires you learn to love and cheer for, the fact they help others, no matter how big or small, is just an added bonus. They spend their time searching for lost people, have a knack for it that most people would die for, until someone returns the favor and sets their sites on them. Can they find the missing boy before all he’ll breaks loose? A must read!

Brigid and Carwyn know the identity of the kidnapper of 15 year-old Lucas O'Hara, but Zasha Sokholov's motivation for abducting Lucas is a mystery they are racing to unravel. As the clock ticks toward the deadline, with the innocent boy's life in the balance, Brigid and Carwyn must find his location before time is up.

Carwyn's soul deep honor paired with Brigid's innate drive to protect the innocent make them the best at what they do. Carwyn has been a favorite of mine from the first book in the Elemental Mysteries series, and I just love him more in each book. Brigid tore my heart out in this series as she has come to terms with her immortality, addiction, and purpose. I loved seeing her confidence in this book! I've been curious about Zasha Sokholov's interest in Brigid since their first interaction, but will admit that I was wrong in my supposition. No spoilers, so that's all I will share about that.

Lucas, the human son of the vampire masters of Las Vegas, stole the show for me; genius intellect, impressive strategist, and obsessed with chess, yet with the typical weaknesses of a teen boy. He is observant, clever, and although he has been raised by vampires, is a bit too trusting. I enjoyed Lucas' observations about Brigid and Carwyn and their roles in the conflict with Zasha. I hope to see more of him!

Elizabeth Hunter's ability to weave together threads from past books, new mysteries to be solved, and intricate world building, while still creating a story that is accessible to a new reader is extraordinary. Bishop's Flight is no exception. So if you haven't read any of the previous books, just jump in! You won't regret it, but will likely binge more books in the Elemental Universe...fair warning!

I received an advance copy from the author. I am leaving my honest review voluntarily.

Another adventure Ms. Hunter takes her readers on with Carwyn and Brigid.
They need to save an innocent, a fifteen year old boy, caught in the middle of an intricate and elaborate scheme.
I adorn Brigid and Carwyn. They are a powerhouse couple. But kind and caring.
Their banter is sexy and witty. I love their bond and their love.
They are racing against the clock to find Lucas. Trying to find clues and the missing pieces and links to figure out who took him and why. Slowly the puzzles pieces start fitting together and the picture becomes clearer. But it’s still a long way to the finish line.
I was gripped with the plot. It was exciting and filled with adventure.
I couldn’t read fast enough to get to the next page.
I was intrigued by Zasha. But also scared. Because the mystery and danger surrounding Zasha feels like evil. Zasha gives off a sinister vibe and energy.
The only thing I’d say distracted my reading was the non-binary verbiage.
I’d read they and have to go back a check a sentence or two to make sure I didn’t miss another character. Then I remember it’s relating to one character. Took a while to get used to that.
I can’t wait for the final book, Tin God, I think that book is going to be epic!

I’ve loved following the development of the Elemental Covenant series. The mystery behind this series’ villain and what they want has been a slowly evolving question and the most delightfully irritating plot hook for four excellent books now. (And I do love me a delightfully irritating plot hook. Bring on the obsessive theorizing!!) Are Brigid and Carwyn even truly meant to be involved, or are they just collateral in a multi-millennia-old game? But if Brigid isn’t at the center of whatever convoluted plot Zasha is busy hatching, why does it seem like our favorite sociopathic fire vampire is continuing to fixate on her?

Bishop’s Flight finds Brigid and Carwyn in Las Vegas, racing against the clock to find the human son of the cities’ ruling vampires (a fabulous example of “ruthless opposites attract,” 10/10, I would love more Agnes and Rose in future stories). It was fun seeing another corner of the Elemental universe, (especially when it involved Carwyn-the-married-ex-priest having to navigate Sin City), and the ending has me desperately counting the months to the final installment.

I've written a million times at this point, but I do love getting lost in this element world. That being said, these characters are still great, but this series still feels disconnected from the other, and it feels more like a detective novel with vampire elements than the other way around. The light-hearted joyful Carwyn has turned more serious as these books continue, and I miss the jovial character that made me laugh. If you're looking for a detective book with amazing creative features, this is one you should read. While this is still a great book. I'm giving it a 3 due to that disconnect. It's still a great read, and I'm so excited for the next and final part of this story. WISH I DIDN'T HAVE TO WAIT A YEAR THOUGH! I have pre-order Tin God, and I'll wait with eager anticipation to read it!

Review copy was received from Author. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.

The main characters of this new Elemental Covenant series, Carwyn and Brigid, were the romance in the first book of the Elemental World series, Building from Ashes Elemental World series is a spinoff from Elemental Mysteries series.  So this new series is a spinoff of the spinoff.

I'm always happy to have a new read from Elizabeth Hunter but especially these mystery books with Carwyn and Brigid.   Bishop's Flight continues with the problems with Zasha Sokolov.  Zasha is playing their games with people's lives for amusement and to get to Brigid.

The setting is Las Vegas where the two vampire rulers, Rose and Agnes, have two adopted human children.  The teen boy is kidnapped by Zasha with a deadline if the city is not turned over to them.

Brigid is frantic to find the boy and feels guilty for somehow capturing Zasha's attention. She doesn't know why they are fixated on her.  She makes smart guesses and moves to find the boy before the deadline.  But Zasha isn't stupid.   And doesn't leave many witnesses to anything alive.

I really enjoyed this suspenseful story with mother-child bonds, vampire politics,  a good investigation, and the lead in for the next book which will be a crossover with Elemental Legacy series with Ben and Tenzin combining with Brigid and Carwyn.

4 stars!

The latest book in the Elemental Covenant series, this is an exciting and dramatic read with the humour, romance, and fabulous characters that I love so much about the Elemental world. This time, Carwin and Brigid are in Las Vegas and investigating the kidnapping of the 15 year old son of the city’s ruling vampires.

This is a really great read. I loved being back with these two fabulous characters, and I was fully invested in the kidnapping storyline, the dynamics of the family they were working with, and the politics in play within the city. They all blend together to create a captivating mystery, and with only four nights to solve the case before the boy is killed, it’s suspenseful as well.

Carwin and Brigid are a wonderful couple, and I loved seeing them still so loved up and passionate for each other. They have a great relationship which is fun, heartfelt and protective, and they support each other unquestionably. They’re both powerful vampires, and I loved getting to see them flex their supernatural badassery.

The storyline with the bad guy is a carry-over from a previous book in the series, and I enjoyed the twisty dynamics there, where the “sins of the past” theme brings some added drama.

All of the elements come together for an exciting, satisfying read. There’s one more book coming for Carwin and Brigid, and I’m excited to see how their story arc finishes up.

Loved this one – 4 stars.

Elizabeth Hunter's latest entry into the Elemental Covenant world, Bishop's Flight, has once again left me reeling.
This is the 4th book in the Elemental Covenant series, but can be read as a stand alone. If this is your first experience with this world, get ready to binge read, because you WILL be sucked in!

Bishop's Flight follows our former priest and lovable Earth vampire Carwyn, and his fire vampire mate and wife, Brigid. This mystery they are working on solving is turning personal, really quickly. There's always so much more than meets the eye with Ms. Hunter's intricate world building, and this book is no exception. The relationship between Carwyn and Brigid is so intense that I literally feel like I know them. I ache when they ache, I soar when they soar. It's such an emotional ride with these two, and I'm in a serious book hangover after reading this.

The ending is a huge hook. I wouldn't call it a cliffhanger, but it definitely is drawing readers to the next book, Tin God. I have no idea how I'll wait a whole year to see what happens next!

If you like vampires, elemental superpowers, mystery, or romance, this book is for you. If you like reading books and finding all the little breadcrumbs, this series is for you. If you want to experience a book that makes you feel like you're part of the family, Ms. Hunter's Elemental Covenant series should be at the top of your list!

ARC REVIEW

“Checkmate.”…”I mean, the game is still going, but you’ve already lost.”

Thank you Valentine PR and Elizabeth Hunter for the eARC of Bishop's Flight!
I loved this book, and what’s not to love? A vampire book, and they’re searching for a missing person, and they’re snarky and also lovely? What more could you want!
It was full of suspense, family and relationships, and mystery. I enjoyed the continuity of the Zasha storyline from Elizabeth's previous books, and the character development from Carwyn and Brigid. The book leaves off on a slight cliffhanger so I am excited to read the continued Elemental storyline, and really hope to see more of Lucas since I absolutely loved his character. He seemed mature beyond his years which I’m sure stemmed from growing up around his aunts/mothers and the training he must have received. Highly recommend this series!

I was so excited to get the chance to read this book!! I absolutely love Brigid and Carwyn and am always so tickled to get to read one of their stories! The love they have for each other and the fierceness of their relationship makes my heart so happy! I catch myself smiling at their antics with each other. That being said, they need that closeness and silliness to be able to do the investigations that they do. And they are so good at them! This was a really intense and harrowing case that kept me on the edge of my seat until the very last moment. I highly recommend this and every other Elizabeth Hunter book. She has the ability and talent to create characters and stories that you will love forever and never forget!

Elizabeth Hunter is a fascinating writer. The way she humanizes vampires from cold bloodsucking creatures to caring protectors of the innocent was a new spin for me. This book was part of a series that I hadn’t read but was easily able to understand the world she created. I don’t play chess but loved the references throughout the story. If the rest of the series is like this one, it’s on my list of want to read!

I love this series so much. Whenever I read any of the Elemental books it’s like revisiting old friends. I can’t think of any of the 28 books in this world that I didn’t enjoy. Some are better than others but all are enjoyable in their own way.

The Elemental Covenant series follows Brigid and Carwyn who are probably my favorite pairing on the Elemental world. They travel around the US and solve mysteries. I love their fun relationship and as individuals they’re awesome. Carwyn, the 1000 year old Hawaiian shirt wearing ex-priest and his mate, Brigid, who struggled through a very difficult childhood and early adulthood and who reluctantly became a vampire. She’s tough as nails and they seem like opposites but are so perfect for each other.

This story involves them searching for a missing teen boy in Las Vegas who they have 5 days to find before the sociopathic vampire that kidnapped him (to get to Brigid) kills him.

All of these books can technically be read as a standalone but honestly they lose so much if you haven’t read all the world building from at least the first few Elemental Mysteries series. But many of them I’ve read multiple times because they’re so enjoyable.

I’m sorry to read that there will only be one more book in this particular series. I hope that doesn’t mean the end of the Elemental world, however.

Elemental Covenant #4
This edition of the Brigid & Carwyn saga, Bishop's Flight (Elemental Covenant, #4) by Elizabeth Hunter Bishop's Flight, book 4 in the Elemental Covenant series by Elizabeth Hunter starts with a tragedy and ends in a type of cliffhanger. Which is interesting because I thought this was going to be the last book of the series. Apparently not… Though what ever is about to happen I believe will be a little bit Elemental Covenant and a little bit Elemental Legacy. Long live Elizabeth Hunter… Storyteller extraordinaire!

Excellent!

Love me some Brigid and Carwyn!!

When Brigid, Carwyn, and their computer genius, Lee, get hired to find a kidnapped 15 year old boy in Las Vegas, they run. Rose and Agnes are mates and the Vampires in Charge of Vegas. In exchange for their son, the kidnappers want to control Vegas.

When Brigid finds out that Zasha is behind all of this, she feels tremendous guilt that a boy is suffering because of Zasha's sick fascination with her. But it turns out to go much deeper than Brigid ever even thought of, involving the past and her close friends.

A must read!!

another great book from Elizabeth Hunter

Elizabeth Hunter did it again. Another book full of characters we know and love along with new and fascinating characters. My only criticism of the book is it wasn’t long enough. I wanted more of Brigid and Carwin. Once again the couple is off solving a mystery and saving the day. And we just keep running into our Russian fire vampire foes. While this is a great book on its own, it’s also a great setup for the final book, Tin God, coming next year. A full series re-read will be in order before that happens.

I enjoy these Carwyn and Bridgett mysteries. There is one ongoing mystery within the series but each book has another mystery within it that concludes in each book. This story deals with the kidnapping of a child and the stakes are high and time is short. I would give this five stars but in this series I prefer the story/mystery over the romance and sometimes the sex scenes felt unnecessary (shocker…I know). Highly recommended.

Thrilling, exciting mystery with Brigid and Carwyn on the hunt. This is an excellent third instalment in the Elemental Covenant series and I can’t wait to read ‘Tin God’ when it is available.
Elizabeth Hunter’s books are always a special treat and her series are varied and imaginative. She is top of my favourite authors list for a reason, so do yourself a favour and check out her books!

The fourth book in the Elemental Covenant series and Bishop’s Flight found the intrepid Celtic vampire detective duo that is Carwyn and Brigid in Sin City itself where they were up against a tight deadline of only four nights and three days to locate and rescue a missing teenage boy before he’s executed by the vampire holding him. In a fantastic blend of mystery and the supernatural and a suitably evil villain in the form of Zasha Sokholov this fast paced story filled with intrigue, drama, action and hidden agendas grabbed me from the first page and held me enthralled throughout as it wove together more pieces of the underlying plot line that had been lurking in the background throughout this series and that will culminate when Tin God, the final book releases next summer.

I love the relationship between earth vampire Carwyn and and fire vampire Brigid. Carwyn, a millennia old, former priest with a penchant for lurid Hawaiian shirts and Brigid, an Irish heroin addict and baby at the tender age of ten in vampire years – now that’s what I call an age gap! Together they complete the other and have great rapport with some fantastic dialogue between them that had me chuckling in parts, I mean who wouldn’t laugh with lines like Jesus, Mary, Joseph and the wee donkey! I so hope that even when this series concludes it won’t mean that we’ve heard the last of this phenomenal pairing who stand as protectors of humans against vampires.

I am so thankful the Elemental Universe is continuing. Once again, Elizabeth Hunter has crafted a delicious story of mystery and suspense. Carwyn and Brigid have been sent to Las Vegas to help the heads of the Las Vegas vampire society. So many questions culminating with a missing teen and a time limit set by Brigid's growing nemesis, Zasha, the Russian fire vampire who has been taunting and testing Brigid for a while now. The book's pace is quick and engrossing with Elizabeth's usual grace of having you fall into the world quickly and immerse yourself in the elemental universe. Carwyn is still the big beautiful mountain of a man who is charming and scary if you cross him. Brigid is still coming to terms with her element and vampire nature (we sometimes forget how new a vampire she is). The tension is building between Zasha and Brigid, and only one will prevail. Zasha is coming to realize that Brigid is more powerful than they thought, but their focus is still on vengeance. For who or what, we don't know but another of our favorite characters has been brought in. The culmination of this series is going to be epic!!! I cannot wait. You have time now to read this series and be ready for a major showdown next summer!

Bishop's Flight brings back Brigid and Carwyn, our favorite people finding vampires. This time they're searching for a teenage boy and they already know who took him... but there is a time limit in which they have to find him alive.

Carwyn feels like my long lost uncle. Someone you love and can play around with, but will put you in your place like a parent. (Mostly I just want to hug him all the time and have him call me "Darling Girl".) Brigid, while I love her arc, I can't put my finger on exactly who she is... and that intrigues me. I think she is still trying to find out exactly who she is too, while following what her heart and gut tell her. Now Zasha is a true enigma and I was beyond thrilled that we got more of them in this story.

While this is book 4 of 5, the reader can start wherever in this series and know exactly what's going on, and not feel they are missing anything. However, I say start from the beginning so you can luxuriate in the amazingness that is in every word.

I will forever and always read everything Elizabeth Hunter writes, it's a given for me. Now, it needs to be a given for everyone else!!!
