Another body is found. Another one of Maurice’s victims. But as the law draws near, everything starts to change…
Kenneth thinks things are finally looking up in his life. He has a wonderful partner in Maurice, and a future that looks bright… or so it seems. As more murders occur, and the police learn more about the Western Michigan Serial Killer, Kenneth’s world begins to crack. Maybe his perfect lover isn’t as perfect as he thought.
Maurice spirals further and further out of control, losing sight of who he is—is he an immoral, murderous artist, or a sweet, caring boyfriend? How long can he hide the truth from Kenneth before it all comes crashing down, ending his life as he knows it?
Would Kenneth still love him if he knew?

The anticipation of... How will Kenneth find out his man is a killer? Was killin' me! I went through a rollercoaster of emotions. Felt all the feelings. I loved every minute of it! I'm really happy how everything wrapped up for them.
I had to take a few days break after reading their camping/acid trip. That part stressed me out. Maurice's inner turmoil was rough. What happened was horrible. He was so close to getting caught! I could feel his remorse and regret, even as he was doing it... He changed since meeting Kenneth.
"His love found its way to the murderer’s heart and irrevocably changed his life forever."
I cried when Kenny finally found out.. I had a feeling he would find out THAT way. OMG, and when he confronted Maurice 😭 I'm glad no one was around when I was reading that part.
"We’re soulmates, Kenneth. I’ll meet you again. I promise I’ll do better in the next life."
Snot bubbles.💔 The nightmare he had with his victims was actually so scary.. I think he needed that.
I don't know if I should laugh, cheer, or feel a tiny bit bad for Detective Norman... Don't mess with Kenny's man. 🤭
"And there still is that lingering thought that, if he ever wished to, he could’ve killed Kenneth as well. It’s terrifying, haunting, but at the same time—strangely exciting."
I see more blood play in their future. (CHAPTER 6/7🥵)
All Yesterday’s Papers is the curtain closing book of an insanely unique duology, if you thought book one was enough of a twist of emotions already, then buckle up, because you’re in for a whirlpool of shock, surprises and perhaps tears! This is where the story gets complex, now unfolding from Kenneth’s point of view as well; Maurice’s path takes a turn he may not be able to revert. Tension arising, suspicions creeping; the fates of our beloved characters as we know them all hang on the pendulum of uncertainty: where on one side lies Kenneth’s happiness, on the other slithers Maurice’s thirst for blood. Despite the nerve wrecking complications rapidly closing in, the couple still manages to meet their balance through much needed moments of softness and steam. Wether they’ll be able to overcome the odds and live their happily ever after is for you to find out though, enjoy! And good luck…
All Yesterday’s Papers follows Kenneth and Maurice as they navigate their relationship as an established couple.
With plans of moving together, one camping trip can change everything. Maurices urges to kill grow stronger and stronger, and with a detective, who suspects him, he must decide what’s more important for him - Kenneth or his bloodlust.
After being interviewed by police, Kenneth starts to doubt everything he knows about Maurice. Can they love survive this?
All Yesterday’s Papers is a sequel to All Tomorrow’s Photos, and it’s necessary to read it first to grasp what’s going on.
I enjoyed both the story and the writing. The ending suprised me, as I expected a much more different ending.
Without spoiling anything, Kenneth is the purest person on this planet, and must be protected at all cost.

After finishing All Tomorrow's Photos, I knew I had to get my hands on the second book as soon as possible because I was so fully invested in Maurice and Kenneth! Not very often does a second book hit as deeply as the first does, but this was an example of one that absolutely destroyed me. Angsty and twisty, I was constantly wondering what could come next, how would it end because what a situation to be in! The author has a very unique poetic style of writing that I am crazy for and characters that are so full of depth you want to know them in real life. A perfect balance of characters and plot, I loved how the romance was a big part of the story but not overwhelming the plot, which I felt added so much depth to the duology and whilst their story has been wrapped up, I would love to see more glimpses of Maurice and Kenneth in the authors future! Overall this was a beautiful story and definitely a favourite of mine!
Wow, bloody wow! Genesee my sincere congratulations for this incredible finale and for making our babies so happy in the end!
This book starts right after the end of All Tomorrow’s Photos, and we now have our lovebirds happy and more committed to each other than ever before. But some details are sneaking in and making our angel Kenneth suspect that Maurice is more than the sexy, weird man that he loves!
We watch Maurice struggle with the consciousness of what he’s done and what he thinks he still needs to do… But he has some true reality checks and, in some incredible chapters, comes to terms with what he wants, and, most importantly, what he needs to let go to be happy. The chapters at the camping site and when he is in some strange place ( so I don’t spoil much) are incredibly well written, and you feel his pain, I loved those so much.
At the same time, baby Kenner struggles to justify all his doubts about Maurice, but there is no escape, and the truth hits hard… painful to read… Poor Kenny 🥹 but he chooses love in the end!
Beware of some gory stuff because blood…. Has an important part in this book, in sex and murder 😅
Also, be prepared for naughty nurse role play 🔥🔥🔥 but also for some super sweet moments of pure love and adoration.
What I loved more was the way the story developed and how everything fit together perfectly in a very selfish way. The way they grow and change to become the best versions of themselves. It was a long, bloody journey but totally deserved ( you can judge me after reading the book, but I love this HEA)
I received an ARC from Genesee, and this is my honest opinion, for sure ❤️
All Yesterday's Papers is a continuation of All Tomorrow's Photos, and picks up where the first book left off, which was WITH A LOT OF CRAZY STUFF GOING ON. I won't spoil anything because I was on the edge of my seat with this whole story trying to figure out what was going on and not having a clue what would happen next, but it's a wild ride!
As always, Genesee's third person present tense writing style is super unique and immersive, as well as the incredibly detailed setting in terms of the time period. It sucks you in and makes it so easy to visualize every scene.
One thing the story does incredibly well is juxtapose the darker scenes (and some of them get DARK) with really beautiful and touching love scenes with Maurice and Kenneth, and great spicy scenes too. It really makes you root for them to end up together, even with everything Maurice has done! It's got to be tough to make your readers root for a literal murderer!
There's a bit of a cat and mouse thing going on with Detective Norman, but to me the real thing I was stressing and sweating over the whole time was if Kenneth was going to figure everything out. Like I said, no spoilers, but you will be surprised!! And the way everything wrapped up, the ending was very satisfying.
Overall, this was a great read and a wonderful conclusion to a really fantastic duology! If you're on the fence, definitely give it a try! The story that spans across both books is so cool and like nothing else I've read.
When S.S. Genesee asked me if I wanted to betaread the second part of their duology, how could I say no? And let me tell you, they have done it again. "All Yesterday's Papers" has all the tension and romance of its predecessor with new, heightened stakes, and I found myself unable to put it down. As the blurb states, this novel portrays Maurice in a Catch-22 situation: as he begins to change his mind on his crimes, he has to pick between one of his two sides. We also see the pressure this weighs on his boyfriend, Kenneth, and all around them as Maurice tries to keep his secret under wraps... Genesee has done an fantastic job with their novel. If you like thrills, romance and a large slice of 70s culture, then this is the novel for you!
[I received a digital arc for an honest review] All Yesterday's Papers is the second half of the All Tomorrow's Photos duology. As the police continue to be suspicious of Maurice, he fears for the time when he's discovered. What will Kenneth do when he finds out Maurice's disturbing secrets.
Just as with the first half of the duology, All Yesterday's Papers brings us a steamy love story all wrapped up in secrets and murder. Maurice tries to fight his darker instincts for fear of losing Kenneth. Kenneth starts to question Maurice's erratic behavior and eventually it all comes to a conclusion. This book is steamier and much darker than the first, but it had me invested from the moment I started.
A great conclusion that gives even more insight into Maurice's inner turmoil - and how Kenneth is totally head over heels in love with a walking red flag
I only finished a few minutes ago and I’m still emotionally reeling. You know how I know the book was good? I made the mistake of reading in front of someone and they had to ask if I was okay, because when I wasn’t gasping or cursing, I was close to crying. Phew. Onto the good stuff.
-If you ever rooted for the villain or had an “I can fix them” approach to fiction, you will love this story and Maurice in particular. His ARC is phenomenal and seeing him develop in this half of the story is so rewarding, which brings me to my next point.
-Maurice is a killer. We shouldn’t like him. And yet, even while reading him, there is that same dissonance that’s mentioned in the story. As a reader, we shouldn’t like him and yet, I rooted for this guy. Not so much out of condoning, but wanting and waiting for everything to come to a head and hoping this man would turn his life around.
-Norman. Ugh. I hate how I know I should like Norman, and on some level I did. Closer to the end of the story, his character took a huge nosedive for me, one that made me lose any sympathy I had for him before and his job (and his sense of justice). I feel like Norman is a perfect polar opposite of Maurice, in the sense Maurice thinks of himself as bad, and even does bad things, but he acknowledges those flaws and so desperately wants to be good. Whereas Norman thinks of himself as good, but he’s not above doing bad things (or having horrible opinions) because to him this in the name of justice and righteousness.
-The climax. I want to gush so much more but all I can say is I felt physically unwell from sheer dread. I was so invested, so attached to these guys, it hurt me. Much in the same ways, the high points of the story gave me all the warm fuzzies.
-I went in wanting a HEA for these two, but told myself *realistically* that couldn’t happen. I prepared myself for the worst despite desperately hoping to be proven wrong. Without getting spoiler-y I loved how the ending was handled. To me, the ending was believable for the characters. We should get to enjoy our fiction, which is what the ending gave me—a realistic outcome without all of the realism of life encroaching on the essence of the story.
-Overall, I am extremely satisfied with not only the story but the storytelling. Devouring this book was as easy as reading the first. I cannot wait to read more when that time comes.
*I received an ARC of this story which has not influenced my personal opinions in any way.*
This review is brought to you by a certified Maurice Rogers apologist.
Yes, he's a murderer, but that's my emotional support serial killer and I will defend him with my last breath. Genesee crafted such a complex, heart-wrenching character in Maurice, and his development was executed beautifully over the course of the duology. All Yesterday's Papers is a shade darker than the first book in the series and stands in sharp contrast to the deepening relationship between Maurice and Kenneth. I had anxiety pretty much the entire time I was reading it and I would gladly start the series over and go through it all over again.
The spice is insanely good. Usually my favorite sex scenes are the ones with a lot of graphic detail and dirty talk, but the ones in this book are definitely in my Smut Hall of Fame. I mean, HELLO CHAPTER 10? You can't tell me that wasn't a work of art. A very hot work of art.
As with the first installment, the use of detail in this book is excellent. Every scene feels like you're there yourself, watching it unfold. The continued use of music as both a sensory detail and a storytelling device is perfect. We're shown both the fun, "groovy" side of the 70s as well as the darker aspects, since this is a time when homophobia is still running rampant. The obstacles for Maurice and Kenneth's relationship come from within and without but there wasn't a single page when I wasn't rooting for them.
When a conclusion has been built up to as much as the one in this book, it could have easily been anticlimactic or disappointing, but Genesee delivered on everything these two books made me hope for in an ending. I won't spoil what happens, but trust me - it's the perfect ending to an amazing duology. I can't recommend these books enough!
I couldn't pass up reading the sequel after reading All Tomorrow's Photos. I just had to know what was going to happen to Maurice and Kenneth! In my review of All Tomorrow's Photos, I touched on that I liked the juxtaposition of Maurice's serial killer-ness to the softness and coziness he displays with Kenneth. What made All Yesterday's Papers a really good sequel was it dug deeper into that juxtaposition. Can Maurice -really- be this brutal serial killer and be the soft boyfriend for Kenneth? The exploration of that was lovely!
The narrative as a whole as a quick read and I appreciated seeing more Kenneth chapters this time around to see how he was dealing with all the events that happened. Kenneth still my favorite character! He deserves nice things.
Thoughts on the ending: ever since I began reading this duology and grew attached to Maurice and Kenneth, I was worried about if this was going to end happy or at least satisfactory. For everything that happened and was revealed, I liked the ending it has. It felt earned and deserved and definitely was satisfactory!
Also, when I got to about 70% at like 1am, I just had to keep reading until I was done. Definitely worth staying up for! The tension was great, the story wrapped up very well, and I'm glad I gave this a shot!
4.25 rounded up to 5. A great end to the duology! I loved getting more of these sweet 70s boys and seeing how Maurice and Kenneth’s relationship continued to grow. I feel like I can’t actually discuss this book much without giving things away and I definitely don’t want to do that because people need to find out for themselves! I’ll just say that things spiral for a bit in regards to Maurice’s little side hobby and how it affects Kenneth and their relationship but things end up resolved and happy in the end (which I’m very happy about, I was worried things were going to end badly for the boys and they wouldn’t get their happy ending but they definitely do and it was very sweet). It’s a bit odd to have been rooting so hard for a serial killer to get a happy ending but Maurice is a very sympathetic/empathetic character and it was easy to just want everything to work out for him and Kenneth after having difficulties in childhood. The story was a bit long again and had the same issues as the first book (too much showing instead of telling, unnecessary convos with every line of dialogue written out, etc) but again, still a very worthwhile read and I loved it enough to not let those minor annoyances ruin the experience. Highly recommend this series!
ARC provided by author in exchange for honest review.
What a conclusion!! I need to keep this review vague because any spoilers will take away from the story, but wow! I loved this duology! This picks up after ATP, and we see Kenneth and Maurice’s relationship further develop. Together they are sweet and steamy, and so in love. We see Kenneth’s parents trying to be better towards Kenneth, and accept that he’s queer. The scenes with his parents are really heartwarming! Maurice, although he is well aware that he’s not a good person, tried to compartmentalize the monster from the man; especially from the man Kenneth loves. He knows that Kenneth is incredibly caring and kind, and could never accept Maurice’s crimes. This book looks a lot of the psychology of killers, and how hard it can be for those around them to pick up on any clues. Maurice’s two sides are so different that those who know him would never suspect him. There were so many points when I was scared for the characters because I didn’t know where the story was going! Genesee definitely makes you love the villain in this story! Thank you so so much to Genesee for allowing me to arc read both of these books, it’s been such a pleasure!
I was so excited to read this because I loved the first half of this duology All Tomorrow’s Photos so much and this conclusion to Maurice and Kenneth’s story definitely did not disappoint! I could not put this book down wanting to know how all of the secrets surrounding Maurice would come to light and how Kenneth would react to them. This book was emotional, suspenseful, sexy, and dark but also so sweet and tender. You can feel how much these characters love each other 💜
Thank you so much S.S. Genesee for sending me an e-ARC to read! You are so lovely! ☺️🫶 . I don’t want to spoil too much as this is book two in the ‘All Tomorrow's Photos’ duology, but I do want to say I loved this one just as much as the first book! In my opinion, this one has a bit less action than the first and instead has the consequences of the action from the first book. But in that sense, there is more tension in the story as we are just waiting to see the results of Maurice’s killings. I also loved how the reveal was played out and the ending so much! I had my predictions for how this story was going to wrap up and it ended better than I thought it would and I’m so happy with how the author did this! There were so many genuine and loving moments between Maurice and Kenneth! 💕 . I know Maurice and Kenneth will stay with me forever. They are such impactful characters and I know I will see pieces of them in every new character I read. I can’t wait to see more of them in the form of short stories and artwork. I am very blessed that the author is a fabulous artist! ☺️🫶 Speaking of, can we talk about the covers!!! Book one had Maurice on it and Book two has Kenneth! I absolutely love them! I can’t wait to get this one in paperback so my boys can be together on my shelf! . ⚠️This book is an adult dark romance so please proceed with caution! The main character, Maurice, is a serial killer and kills during the story! All content warnings can be found on the author's website. . 🩸Book One, All Tomorrow’s Photos is out right now! Book Two, All Yesterday’s Papers comes out August 3rd!🩸
SUCH a good ending to the duology. My heart absolutely tore out of my chest during the one third-act conflict but I am SO happy that they resolved the issue and got their HEA in the end. I'm also so so happy that Maurice is finally addressing his demons and taking steps forward.
I really enjoyed this duology in general! Maurice and Kenneth are soulmates. I didn't even care that Maurice was a killer; I was rooting for him the entire time and waiting for Norman's downfall. Can't wait to see them in other AUs as per the author's note at the end. <3
The second part of this duology is still a mixed bag and has similar problems to the prequel, although I must admit that it got a little better. There still are lots of repetitive actions, like covering one's own mouth, bringing hands to mouths, calling each other's names and so on, but I won't dwell too long on this since I already described the problems with the style in my review for the first book.
To the Story (Spoiler alert for the first book):
Kenneth is out to his homophobic parents, Norman is on to something, Maurice has to deal with yet unknown feelings and the stakes are rising.
The story starts off with Maurice using alcohol to numb his feelings of guilt and regret. He's stuck in a mental downward spiral while trying to navigate his relationship to Kenneth. Said relationship is still cute and fluffy and we get to see a good amount of spice and even a little exploration of blood kink, which I really appreciate.
The story stays pretty straightforward and progresses in expected ways, so it's pretty much like the first book in this regard. A new character is introduced as suspect and he's a real douchebag, but at least he's not a homophobic prick like Norman.
Randy and Kathy are still cool, I still want to be their friend, although Randy is a terrible tripsitter.
I don't have that much to say about book two, except that I found the whole camping trip arc really well written. It is by far my favorite part of the two books and it really puts you in Maurice's head. I really wish the whole story had been so intruguing. It was beautiful.
As were a few scenes near the end of the book, but sadly the quality didn't keep this level and fell back into the same problems I already talked about with the first book. Too distanced, structured like a script where every dramatic flash of light is described and the dialogue, too, really worsened in a scene that should have been way more emotional, taking on the quality of a criminal psychologist on TV explaining what lead to all these things. It was disappointing.
But overall, it was okay again and if you liked the first book, you'll definitely like the second.
3/5 Stars
To whom I would recommend: people who like serial killers, gay romance, blood kink exploration and the 70s as well as anything that comes with it.
I have been waiting for the conclusion of Maurice and Kenneth’s story and on the edge to find out how things would wrap up for them. I had so many questions after reading the first book and wondered how the author would handle everything with a bunch of different theories in my head. The whole book felt like I was waiting for the other shoe to drop. Similar to the first book, this has some dark themes to it and there is some on page violence and drug use so check the content warnings before reading.
My sweet, sweet Kenneth-he’s still such a wonderful character throughout the book. I enjoyed seeing some different sides to his character though and his development throughout the story and over the course of both books. Standing up to his parents regarding his relationship with Maurice and dealing with some curve balls that have come his way during the book. He’s got a lot to process with certain realizations and questioning that happens when people from the past return. And also dealing with Maurice who seems to be spiraling a little - needing more and more assurances from Kenneth as things seem to become slightly more out of control for him.
I still have a mixed bag of emotions when it comes to Maurice-there’s the “who done it” part of me who thinks it should end one way and the romance buff who thinks it should end in another. I won’t say which part won out cause I don’t do spoilers. Maurice’s character goes through some things in this book. At time it feels like the walls are closing in on Maurice and you feel the anxiety he’s facing. Will Kenneth find out about his activities, will Detective Norman get his answers, is there really someone else out there who is acting as a copycat?
I also really enjoyed the chapters with Detective Norman as they added so much the underlying crime storyline and added to that pressure of what’s going to happen to this pair. I absolutely enjoyed this duet and I look forward to reading more from this author! I read a complimentary copy of this book and this is my honest and fair review.
I absolutely adored the conclusion to this duology! The originality of the premise, the colourful characters and the author's writing style made these two books one of my favourite reads this year!
In All Yesterday's Papers, we're dropped straight back into the action. Kenny is still dealing with his family's homophobia and reservations about his relationship with Maurice. Meanwhile, Maurice is dealing with his ever-growing pile of bodies and the suspicions of Norman, the lead detective who's hot on his heels.
Similar to book one, Kenny and Maurice's interactions were, again, sickly-sweet in the best way. ❤️ Maurice is so sweet and caring and I just wanted to grab him and shout STOP YOUR DEVIANT MURDEROUS THOUGHTS MAURICE.
Watching Kenny falling ever-deeper into Maurice's orbit was both wonderful and terrifying because, of course, the dream wasn't going to last forever. Kenny knows Maurice well. Too well. Because he becomes increasingly more determined to find out what Maurice has been keeping from him...
I was genuinely fairly traumatised (in the best way) reading the last 30% of this book - I don't think I've been this invested in a novel for a long time.
So how on earth does a morally-black serial killer get his HEA? You'll have to read it to find out...
Read for....
🩸 Blood play as a love language 🩸 Super spicy - and emotionally charged - scenes (also see Genesee's Twitter account - thank me later 😂) 🩸 High stakes dramaaaaa 🩸 Musical references 🩸 Trauma healing 🩸 We're-soulmates-and-it's-everything vibes
Read trigger warnings.
Thank you to the author for providing me with a copy of the book to review.
You guys I love this book!! And the MCs All yesterday's papers is book 2 part of a duology (All tomorrow's photos book 1) must be read first! Maurice studies photography and is serial k*ller with a thing for music. Kenneth is a sunshine adorable nurse. Again must read book 1 to follow up on book 2 because holy h*ll what a turn of events! This book just got turn up a notch after the first book. While both are figuring their relationship and balance, someone is on Maurice's tail and tension sets in leaving suspicion and doubt from Kenneth. Maurice even being the sweetest boyfriend to Kenneth, he still has a strong bloodlust and has to choose between his relationship with the man he loves or his thirst for blood. This book has romance, mystery, gore, spice, some angst and a lot of love. It's twisted and adorable at the same time! If you like serial k*llers back in the 70s with a lot of mushy moments with their person than this duology is for you! Beware for triggers! -MM romance -serial k*ller MC -Sunshine nurse MC -Based on the 70s -adorable and Dark Quote: "Some deranged thing inside you pushes you to want to kill. To see their blood. Because you think it’s beautiful, don’t you?”
So, I was allowed to beta read this book and it was an honour to do this. I already really enjoyed the first part of this series but the second one even was SO much better! I was on edge the entire time because it was so gripping and enthralling and I basically couldn't put it down. It was absolutely nerve-wrecking to witness whether or when Kenneth might find out about Maurice's dark secret and I loved the way the plot was unfolding. There was one chapter in the middle of the book that featured them on a camping trip at a lake and it was one of the best things I've read all year...this chapter basically made this entire book so special and thrilling to me. It also was a pleasure to notice (in comparison to the first book) how Genesee's writing style had improved and made it an even greater joy to read. I really love Kenneth and Maurice's story so much and am glad I was among the first ones who could find out how it would all end...
This was such a cool and unique set-up story wise! Maurice and Kenny were already well introduced in book one and I loved to see how lovey-dovey they were. The 1970ties setting felt well researched and I could kind of "see" the whole scenarios (like in one of the 70ties movies). The conclusion was interesting and I think the most satisfying was to see that the MCs got their HEA in the end.
Absolutely adored the second book in this series, somehow even more than the first. The tension was amazing and I felt like all my questions were answered in the end. I wish it was longer, I can't get enough of Maurice and Kenny 🥺
This was a wonderful read and I loved every bit of it!
