Since childhood, you've sung the words, "Jesus loves me, this I know." The tune is as familiar as your own mirrored reflection. But sometimes we have difficulty believe that the creator and sustainer of the universe could be bothered with people like you and me -- much less really love us. But when God put on flesh and entered our world, he washed dirty feet, he soothed suffering souls, and he forgave fallen sinners. His message is loud and clear -- he loves us! Jim McGuiggan's passionate, devotional readings draws you beyond the commands, the laws, and the history and paint and insightful portraits of God that reveal his tender heart of love.
I found this to be an encouraging and challenging read. I was encouraged as I saw the characteristics of God in a new light, and I was challenged to do better as a follower.
This book isn't about being a high and mighty, holier-than-thou Christian. This book is about embracing the call to be like Christ in forgiveness, love, service, actions, relationships, humility, self-denial, and more.
When you're done with this book, you'll be ready to dive deeper into the Word and strive even more to be like Christ.
One of the of the most spiritually uplifting books I've read in a long time. McGuiggan pulls no punches, but lovingly describes exactly what it takes to be a Christ-like servant or servant-leader in today's ultra-secular world.
I love this book, and have returned to it many times over the years. One of my favorite quotes from the book: "It's got to be a mistake to wait until we can do something grand before we act in service."
This was a good book by [for me] an unknown author. Enjoyed it more than I expected. Several people I mentioned it to also seemed to get a lot from it.
