Before everyone shouts “Don’t give up your day job!” Ahem... I already did.

I left my job as an insurance clerk in June last year with all the regret of a woman wiping dog dirt from her shoe, and I have branched out into writing fiction.

Miranda is not my real name. I thought some of the more strait-laced mums at he school gate might look askance at the antics of Kara and Jana. And one or two of the dads might want to discuss my work in greater detail… Err, no thanks.

I am a depressingly ordinary English mum, but I’m lucky enough to have a great bunch of girlfriends who are always there for me and who are prepared to read my first drafts and laugh uproariously/roll their eyes/tgive me their handy hints when I’m going wrong. You could say it’s a joint effort in some ways. In terms of moral support that’s certainly true.

But since I am the one who parks her ample ass in the chair and puts in the hours at the keyboard, I am the one who gets to put her name on the covers.

I am lucky with my friends but even luckier with my readers. I am profoundly grateful to any and all who read my work, because that, in the end, is why writers write. Without readers, there would be no point.

Uhhh....The author needs a better editor. There were a lot of errors, which caused a lot of distractions. What's with the OOOOOO...That was annoying. I couldn't related to the characters. I found myself becoming annoyed and couldn't wait for the story to end. Jana is annoying... Sorry. I hope book 2 is better, especially since I paid for it.

I chose to read this novel because of two very convincing reasons:
1. it was a freebie on amazon
2. not one single review on amazon.de or here on goodreads

Reading a book without any expectations can be very exciting...
If it turns out to be great, you feel like you discovered something precious no one else knows about.
If it turns out to be a complete waste of time, there is no one else to blame but yourself.

When I first read the title Never Understand (Johnthen Trent #1) I was wondering if these evil misspellings already conquered the first pages of a novel. Johnthen? Really? What illiterate person wrote this?
I was burning with curiosity ...
OK, Johnthen is not a misspelling, it´s the real name of the guy and male protagonist of this book.
The real misspellings/missing words/missing punctuation were to be found in the book and there were more than a few !!!

But lets start with Jana Kidd first...
Jana, a 23 old aspiring actress, lives in NY, shares an apartment with her "best" friend Phoebe and works in a high class Italian restaurant, waiting for something to make her breakthrough in the film industry happen.
The whole novel is written from Jana´s point of view. She explicit addresses the reader and this makes one feel like she is telling us her story.
Writing a novel in this narrative style can often be very tricky. Not every reader is inclined to set up his camp for several hours in another persons brain. And not every head is worth setting up camp, believe me!
So I must confess that at 20% into the story I was ready to throw in the towel, because Jana is quite the chatterbox!
She prattles on and on and on...
About her former boyfriend Josh, who changed over to Phoebes camp!!! About her work in this "oh so exquisite" restaurant. And Jana has some kind of textile fetish too: Lengthy descriptions of clothes, of what they are made of, how they look like on one´s body, which brand, how sparkly the heels of shoes, how luxurious the feel of expensive underwear...you get my drift!
Why I did not give up?
I wanted to meet Johnthen, plain and simple!
Jana meets him at the place she is working and both are impressed of each other...and that is the point where this story takes off and therefore it´s worth to continue the reading!
Again our little magpie here does not pass up on any opportunity to describe how Johnthen looks, the colour of his skin, his chiseled body, what kind of suits he wears, how they hug his body and she also informs us that his condoms are size XL!!!
The experienced romance novel reader immediately understands what this size means....
Cosmic, gigantic, otherworldly carnal experiences are bound to happen!
And they do, and they do quite often!
You lucky girl, Jana!!!
But they don´t just have sex all the time. A lot of other exciting things happen too, because Johnthen affects Jana´s life in a career boosting way the moment he steps into her life. And it was really entertaining to read about it!
The more I read about both characters, the more they grew on me...
I found out, that this girl is not so shallow as it seems. She has a low self-esteem and integrity problems. She has suffered from a severe disease in her teenage years and can be very caring when it comes to her friends...
Johnthen has quite the emotional baggage himself and not everything is revealed in this part of the story.

I will definitely read the second installment!
Although Jana could cut down on the lengthy descriptions of how Johnthen makes her female anatomy squirm and writhe every time he looks at her or touches her...
This would be my special wish/pious hope for the next book...

Who edited this? They need to be fired--immediately! Jena got on my nerves. What's with the integrity thing? Either find a new career where you don't have "to play the game" or do what needs to be done, good grief. And maybe I'm mistaken, but does a man have to be embarrassed about an erection when he is about to have sex? I swear she was always saying how Johnathen didn't look embarrassed by his hard on...ummm, no duh, that's what it's made for! I could also tell the author was British, and seeing as how the characters are American in America, that's a problem. Lord, I don't know how I finished this one, much skim-reading involved--even the damn sex scenes were confusing. Don't recommend, and I won't re-read. I might even have to let this one go from my Kindle.

I Vaguely remember this story.
What I do remember is being disappointed.
The author really makes Johnthen so mysterious that you can't really connect to him at all.
Very little about this book is memorable or interesting.
Even though I remember some steamy moments, I don't remember them being 'All That'.
Just kind of there.
Anyway, this one ended up on my Book Rejected shelf and with good reason.
The thing that stood out the most is the enormous amount of typos & editing errors. Those are in abundance and constantly throw you out of the story.

Mr Dark and Mysterious offers his hand to help me up. He’s quite gallant in fact. His wrist is olive and strong and his fingers long and masculine. His watch is of an obscurely expensive Swiss make I’ve never heard, worn elegantly relaxed, low on his wrist. The wrist has the dark suit – the white cuff – then the deep-tanned skin of a long-fingered, sinuous, male hand. I feel his power as he pulls me up. I can feel somehow that this hand is strong, yet it’s sensitive enough to hold mine with just the right pressure. It was a kind thing he did there, yet there’s a scintilla of danger in his wealth and self-confidence…"

When waitress and would-be actress, Jana Kidd, bumps into the sexiest man she’s ever laid eyes on, she’s tries to put the vision from her mind. The stranger in the dark suit is rich, powerful and just about the hottest guy in New York to boot. He’s out of her league.

Follow Jana’s steamy, rollercoaster relationship with Johnthen Trent, as she struggles to understand the real man beneath the ultra-cool, attractive exterior, while fighting to get her first break as a TV actress.

“...He coolly places his drink on the bar, and leans over to me. Am I dazzled by his looks? Before I can think, his lips are on mine and his fingers are in my hair, on the back of my head. His mouth is cool, tasting exquisitely of the gin and lime and his lips are sweet and sensual. Tension and emotion are popping and conflicting all over my body, but his cool tongue is making me melt..."

My review: Johnthen Trent is a sexy, sexy musician/wealthy businessman. If you had to envision a dreamy tall, dark and handsome man; Trent would be the man. Everytime Miranda described him in various scenes, my hands would start sweating and I would get all warm an tingling inside. I could not put the book down. I literally read each book back to back which was awesome because each book picked up where the others left off. The flow was very good. Johnthen and Jana's relationship was so real. I absolutely recommend this series to everyone, as long as they are over 18+.

If you have not read this three part series you have missed a seriously great read. Having this book in my library for a while and skipped by it over and ovr again. What was I thinking? This is a great book to follow up if you like the 50 Shades of Grey series.

Happy reading!

This is the story of two passionate lovers who are totally opposite to each other but still seems to be made for each other. Johnthen Trent and Jana Kidd are poles apart and are meant to be attracted to each other.
Jana is a waitress in a posh restaurant, but she dreams of becoming a famous actress some day. She is an outgoing, self assured, beautiful young lady. John is a musician, director, a very rich and respected man in the society. He is a very handsome man and everyone wants a piece of him, media wants to cover his personal life and women wants to have sex with him. But he is a very private person and has never brought a woman to his home.

The love scenes are written beautifully. The author knows exactly how to write those scenes, the absolute passion that was flowing through in this book, is steamy and hot! This book is not one to be missed by the romance lovers! But one piece of advice, this book is meant for adults.

Johnthen Trent was a good male lead to fall for, but the story was hard to work through, it has good parts and slow parts. The couple has good chemistry but by the end I had kind of lost interest. There is A LOT of detail and layers to work through and I think 3/4 of the way through I was not in the mood to work through such detailed angst when it was clear it wasn't all going to be worked out book 1. The end does give you a cliff hanger, which made me put the next book on my wishlist, but not to read just quite yet.

Free from amazon and it was pretty darn good. A good editor could clean it up some grammatically. There were some scenes that made me gasp at how hot they were and that gave it five stars. it seemed that it took three quarters of book to understand Jana and yet, I don't feel like I understand some of J.T's motivations toward the end, which I realize that we may in subsequent books in the series. J.T. seems too hooked too soon so I'm thinking more is revealed and angst ensues. Can't wait!

This is a story about a woman who wants to become an actress. Of course she ends up sleeping with a millionaire to get the roll she wants. The book is filled with erotica, however most of it is off the wall descriptive terms such is soft juices. (ever seen hard juices????) The book does need editing because the author flips between past, present and future tenses without warning and it doesn't makes sense. Overall good story line that needs polishing.

Can't stand how often their full names are mentioned in the book. Every time Johnthen (what kind of name is that anyway?) said something that was supposed to be seductive, he ended it with "Jana Kidd", the main character's name. Speaking of Jana, it was just hard to relate to her. I got this book for free on Amazon, there's a second part to it, but I do not have any interest in it.

An ok series. Read it all although admit to skimming some the hot scenes *gasp* just to get to the actual story. Progress was very slow.
Not sorry I read it but wouldn't reread.
Needs a really good edit.

Great start

The writing style of this book took a little bit of getting use to however the storyline had my interest nice the beginning. This is the first part of a three book trilogy and I felt it ended at a good place. Will be continuing on to the next book.
