It was one night.

One night of pure intimacy, with a guy she knew nothing about, that couldn’t have prepared her for the next chapter in her life.

But will it be for better, or for worse?

Eighteen year old Alexis Harper is a smart, attractive and ambitious young woman with great friends, a doting father and a scholarship at one of Washington State’s most prestigious Performing Arts Colleges.

When the mysterious stranger makes his arrival in her life, she’s captivated by him. She’s intrigued by his past and more so by what the future could possibly hold for them.

Meet Brandon Taylor.

A damaged and confused twenty year old who is grieving for the life he once had.

He didn’t think for one moment that he could ever find happiness, and he didn’t want to. He was happy living within the high walls he’d barricaded around himself. It felt safe.

When Alexis and Brandon’s worlds collide, nobody could have prepared them for the emotional rollercoaster they were about to board together.

With love, loss, deceit and betrayal abound, it’s pretty hard to trust even those closest to you, as both Brandon and Alexis are soon to find out.

***Suitable for 18 years + due to language and sexual content***

4 OPERATION ORGASMIC STARS

Alexis meets a boy at a Masquerade Ball, a mask covers most of his face, but his smile is mesmerizing, she's guessing he's around six feet tall, and he has the most brightest, unique blue eye's she's ever seen.

He did things to me that no other guy has ever done before!!
animated fireworks photo: Fireworks Fireworks.gif
Neither of us knows the others name.

The next day "Operation Orgasm" becomes Alexis's mission to find this guy and learn his name..

A chance meeting at a club "The District Lounge" reunites the two again, meet Brandon!! Yet again she see's a pair of the brightest bluest eyes staring directly into hers without the mask!!

It also transpires that he is close friends with her room mates which she only learns that night..

Now this is where things start to pick up and become interesting..

With an undying attraction between the two, Brandon's reluctance to take things further, his shady past which is unraveled piece by piece with twists and turns along the way get ready for a crazy ride..

And then I reach the end of the book and what do you know!!

This book pretty much had it all, intrigue, mystery, romance, frustration, and that sucky bloody cliff hanger!!

5 - beautiful, emotionally twists & turns - Stars

WOOWW..!!!!
Holy freakin crazy wow..

I Loved this book.

Alexis Harper met Brandon Taylor, a mysterious blue-sparkling eyed, attractive man at the Masquerade Ball.

Both of them never tell their names. Never mention who they are.
But that night they knew that they have a strong feeling at each other.

One night they met again, but Brandon told Alexis that they couldn't have a relationship because of his past.

But their path and their friends keep them meet, again and again.

It was an emotional journey for both of them. I love the characters, their bonds, their friendship..

And I can't wait to read the next one.

Note: Misjudged is part of a series. And it has a pretty serious cliffhanger.

This one started out with a bit of a Cinderella vibe for me. Rather than Cinderella disappearing and only leaving behind a glass slipper, our heroine Alexis has an incredible and highly sexually charged encounter with a mysterious stranger at a masked ball and, after giving her a mind-blowing orgasm, he disappears out of her life leaving her with just a memory of knee-buckling lust and intense, beautiful blue eyes.

I reach up to remove his mask, but he stops me by taking my hand and placing a kiss on the back of it. The silent gesture tells me that he doesn’t want to take it off. I don't question him, and he just holds my hand in his as we walk in silence back through the campus grounds. Before I even know it, we’re standing right outside my building.
He places a soft kiss on my forehead while caressing his fingers up my arms, and I see a slight smile forming over his lips.
“Thanks for the dance,” he whispers, while stepping back a few paces before finally turning himself around. I watch as he walks briskly towards the large iron gates, away from me, and out into the night.

The next day, after confessing her mysterious encounter to her best friend Alyssa, they embark on Operation Orgasm – a quest to find this enigmatic stranger. They don’t have to look far – he’s a new arrival in town and is friends with her college room mates, Ryan and Neil and his name is Brandon.

Brandon is a darkly brooding, mysterious student with an even darker past. He’s got so much pain and sorrow locked away that he just doesn’t consider himself good enough for someone like Alexis and he tries to keep his distance, despite their incendiary attraction and the proprietorial possessiveness he feels towards her. I really did love Brandon and his tragic past is a real shocker. He’s suffered far more than anyone of his age deserves to have suffered.

Alexis is a sweet heroine even if she is really rather naive. She’s had a bad experience with her ex, Matt, and is now slow to trust but she can feel herself falling deeply for Brandon and wants to learn his secrets and to comfort him but he’s always putting up emotional barricades and just will not let her in.

“I’m afraid that if you leave now, then … I’m scared you won’t let me in, and you’ll push me away.” I whisper as I slowly bring my hands up and around his neck. He takes a deep breath, while moving his hands onto my hips and squeezing me gently.
“And I’m scared,” he says in a hoarse whisper, “I’m scared of what and how I’ll feel, if I let you in.”

I did really enjoy this – there’s so many twists and turns and revelations that I truly never did know what was coming next. It’s very sexy and Brandon is definitely a hero to get your heart racing. I will say that there were a huge amount of misunderstandings and jumping to conclusions by the central duo and, sometimes, I really wanted to bang their heads together and to scream at them to listen to each other instead of constantly judging one another. Brandon, when he finally lets down those defences, is sexy and charming and I cared a lot for him and found myself desperate for these two to work through all the difficulties and find that Happy Ever After together they so deserved.

There’s also a mother of a cliffhanger – just when everything finally seems to be coming together and they are finally happy, something strange happens to set the whole story off in yet another direction. We will have to wait for the release of Misplaced Trust to find out what’s next for Brandon and Alexis. There’s a great host of secondary characters to love as well as a few you will hate who all richly deserve their come-uppance.

After reading a total of 183 books in a year's time I must say this book is...
A wonderfully written story of 2 people desperately trying to find love while trying to find themselves... Alexis is a young collage student, ambitious, loving, kind, protecting, and loyal but can be stubborn and she defiantly can stick up for her self. Her past drives her future untill he shows up! Brandon Taylor, a mysterious swoon worthy male that is living in his past so that he can correct his future, is working hard at being a collage student, bartender, with mysterious acts that no one understands. He has no desire in relationships that could capture his guilt filled bleeding heart. One night encounters is all he has time for and struggles to keep life uncomplicated so he can be free from a past he didn't create.

2 people at different ends of the spectrum clash .. Alexis and Brandon 's story, told in Alexis's POV, will captivate and confuse everyone around them. Readers will be relieved to know, there is reason and understanding will be unearthed that will make this roller coaster ride of passion, lies, guilt, love, and redemption worth getting on and never wanting it to end!! I wouldn't call this a cliffhanger!!! It's a wonderful build and exciting rush before the next droop to book 2 misplaced trust!!!!

...it was like someone ignited a firework inside of me, and it was racing through my body at a hundred miles an hour. It was like a deep fire running through my veins, and I didn't think I would ever want the burning to stop."

So Ladies wear your bibs and panty protectors for this book... Brandon just does what he does and Alexis is awesome at detail when it comes to describing this man!!!! Hot!!!!

"....Beautiful,"....You're my light, Alexis. I can't be without you. I want you, only you, forever."

Sarah Elizabeth you had me at Matt Bomer!

Adding Brandon "freaken" Taylor to my list of fantasy book boyfriends!

I guess I'm in the minority here. I don't really know what this book was about - it seemed way too over the top and... yeah.

First, this was another highly emotional girl who saw a guy, talked about how hot he was, and then he gave her an orgasm before disappearing. I guess that is the kick off of their 'relationship' though they don't really discuss it other than his stilted apologies and "I can'ts..". They're on again/off again, both running hot and cold. I got a literary whiplash from the number of times they got angry/distant with each other - and the misunderstandings.

And still never saw a relationship develop. They didn't talk about things, at least what I saw. At the end of the book something major happens and while she's saying I love you, I love you.....she notes that she didn't even know his last name. All that time together and she never learned it. Didn't know if he had parents either.

So...
it's safe to say I won't be reading the sequel. A sneak peak was included at the end of this book and it was all TEARS. I've had enough, thanks.

PS, this book should be titled, 'Misunderstandings' or 'Misinformed'

Holy Hell Batman. What an emotional roller coaster ride and this is just the first book, there will be more of Brandon & ALexis. I am out of breath and speechless. This one will pull you in from the first page (it's a masquerade ball) and hold you there until the end and leave you in tears. Brandon has a past, Alexis is the girl next door type. When the meet at the ball, there are sparks between them. He is tormented by his past and she wants to feel the power between them more. He tries to stay away from her but she makes him think he can have a normal life, but that might not be possible. Please read this one, it is fantastic except you have to wait for book 2 but I feel we all will need the time to be able to breath again. A fantastic first book by Sarah Elizabeth and not her last. Be prepared for the roller coaster ride this story will take you on, it is well work it!!!!!

Mmmmmnnn...liked the concept, after all that's what hooked me, but this story just didn't work out for me.

There was a lot, I mean a lot of drama, which ordinarily isn't unwelcomed but in this case I found the female h, Alexis, a real pain in the ass. So her persistent misunderstanding and overreaction to the situation started to get on my wheel nuts!

I guess the characters appeared too young to me also, and I wouldn't ordinarily opt for a story like that.. and as a consequence, I struggled to gain a connection. Sorry :-(

I promise.

This is Sarah's debut novel and you will not be disappointed!!

Brandon and Alexis will draw you in and you are hooked right from the start. Brandon has a lot of secrets and when he meets Alexis, he has feelings resurface that he didn't know was possible again.

Alexis feels the sparks from her first meeting with the unknown stranger. She knows she must find out who he is. As he tries to keep away from her, they seemed to be pulled even more together.

Once you start this, you won't be able to stop!! Brandon is simply hot and you will want to know his secrets. It's not only a love story, but has some unexpected twists you will not believe!!

OMG! I am pretty sure I have been living under a rock. I am not sure how I missed this book when it came out or the lovely Author Sarah Elizabeth.
So after hearing so much excitement from others about the 2nd book Misplaced Trust (which isn't out yet) I decided I needed to get this book and read it. I started this book and from early on in the book I had a love/hate relationship with the main male character. There were pages where I hated him and thought he wasn't worthy of being friends with Alexis and then the very next page I was in love with him.
I think though one of the things I like best about this story is that it isn't your typical sex and love story. There is depth to this story and what is going on with a group of 4 friends in college, plus Brandon.
The other thing I enjoyed about this book was that Alexis struggled with her emotions and how to handle certain situations. I can totally see an 18 year old girl with those same thoughts and struggles while trying to figure out if the people in her life were being honest with her or not.
All around I really loved this book, and I am actually glad it took me so long to find it because now I only have to wait two weeks to find out what happens next! WOOHOO!

Yawn! Starts out interesting but then it turns into a sleepfest. It was annoying really. It took forever to get going, half way thru I was wishing it would put me out of my misery and just end. The characters don't actually get together till almost the end of the book, so it's frustrating to see them go back and forth.
To be honest I think I am a bit confused... What the hek was the point of this book? I am not sure there is one. It's kinda dumb actually. Alexis was stupid and so was Brandon. I feel like once again I got hosed lol I looked at the reviews and 90% or so rated it very high so I thought I was safe. The book ends (surprise, surprise) with a cliff hanger and it gives you a preview of the next book. I was beyond done with it that I didn't even read the preview and don't care much about the next book. Don't waste your time with this one. There are waaaaay better books out there.

2.5 - 3 stars
This started as a typical romance but it unexpectedly became a mystery story. She really liked him but for much of the book, he pushed her away and didn't seem to want her.
I just didn't enjoy reading about her throwing herself at him and being knocked back - I thought it was humiliating and demeaning for her and that doesn't make for a sexy, comfortable read imho.
Meanwhile he's got lots of secrets that seem to force him to change his mind about her every few days. The first time was a shock but it happened so frequently it lost its shock value and became more of an eye roll moment.
It ends on a cliffhanger but I'm not interested in reading any more about this fickle couple I'm afraid.

Wow! Freaking WOW!!
I feel like a yoyo - emotions have been up and down throughout the whole story... And left hanging at the end - but it's a good - no it's a fanfreakingtastic - ending!!!
I can't wait to see what is in store for Alexis & Brandon and the amazing supporting characters; Alyssa, Ryan & Neil. I have my thoughts, and that's what's great about stories like this, is that I play the guessing game in my head about what will happen next... Yay I can't wait. Congrats on a brilliant debut novel Sarah Elizabeth ;) :D

3.5 Crowns

A college based love story between a sweet, naïve girl and a beautiful boy with a tortured soul. This was a very enjoyable YA read and although a little juvenile in places, I really fell for Brandon. His dark torment, and air of deep mystery kept this story entertaining and slightly unpredictable which is very important in this market-saturated genre.

As far as college romances go, this was definitely well thought out and executed well, albeit the editing could have been better.

*

Alexis is the model student. Her dream of the theatre and pursuing her love of acting is the only connection left to her deceased Mother.

She has a great group of friends, three who are college dorm room mates. Her life may be a little predictable, but Alex has never needed more. Her only relationship to Matt ended disastrously, and it wasn't even that serious...so men have become a distraction she definitely doesn't need. However, a masked ball is about to change everything.

Brandon is trying to put his life back together after one mistake took everything from him. He carries a heavy burden on his shoulders and a need to seek the truth and find closure on an event that destroyed his life.

He never thought for one second he could learn to love another, or even let anyone close until he sets eyes on her. Desperate to feel something, he pursues the beauty, hoping her light can soothe him...just for a little while.

One night together is all it takes to entwine their worlds. A deep intimacy consumes them both but with Alex wanting to push forward and Brandon pulling away, their newfound connection comes with a lot of confusion and ultimately... heartbreak.

They say the truth will set you free... and until Brandon seeks it, Alexia is concerned that whatever it is he is hiding...it may just destroy them both.

*

I am coming to realise that the late teen college NA/YA genre is beginning to run its course with me. As much as I adore this author and believe she has delivered a very good plot with interesting characters, I didn't love the heroine and all the drama that came with her. Maybe I'm just getting old...

Okay, so I appreciate that first love is beautiful as much as it is confusing and painful, and very difficult when with someone who can't seem to let go of the past. But, the to-ing and fro-ing felt like a game of tug and war which nobody seemed destined to win.

The first half of the story was a struggle, but the second certainly made up for it. By the end my heart was in my throat which goes to prove that I did eventually come to care for these characters very much. I had to read that prologue to book two so major kudos to Sarah Elizabeth for keeping me glued to my kindle in the final stages. It will be very interesting to see where the characters go from here on out as the story and the characters did go from strength to strength.

This book will be greatly suited if you enjoy the all-encompassing first love turmoil. Parts are unique and beautiful, whereas others confusing and off-kilter. All in all, it was a good story and I'm not for one second saying it isn't, I just expected a little more...

Book two may just shine a light and prove even better as more of the 'mystery' is unveiled.

I have to admit I was a little nervous when starting this book. I heard about it and have followed Sarah Elizabeth on FB for a while, whatching her updates and sharing her journey to the release of this book. I suddenly became worried that it was going to be a much a do about nothing type of scenario. Well fear not. I loved this book.

There are so many twists and turns and although you could see some of them coming you were still hooked and screaming at the characters. I love Alexis and Brandon. She is naive, innocent, a little damaged after a bad relationship and death of her mother. Brandon, well he has suffered more than a great guy like him should have. They both have great friends in Neil, Ryan and Alyssa. The road they travel shouldn't have been as hard as it was but they both have things to deal with from their past. So many great moments in this original story. Chapter 1 is amazing! Loved it Loved it Loved it. Only thing that I hate right now is that it ended on a cliff hanger. A total WTF? Cliffhanger. I have no idea what happened and book 2 better come out sooner than planned....

Well done Sarah Elizabeth, Great Job, can't wait to read more. Very original story, well written, thoroughly enjoyable.

I REALLY enjoyed this book...I've been reading the authors teasers and chapter releases on her Facebook page as she prepared for her release and had been eagerly anticipating this book. I was not disappointed, BUT I wish I had known Misjudged was part of a series with a pretty serious cliff hanger ending. Ugh! I am one of those people who hate cliff hangers...I usually wait until all the books in the series have been released before reading them. I hope the next book releases soon because there are so many unanswered questions. The suspense is killing me already. I know Neil, one of Alexis' roommates and Brandon's old friend, plays a much bigger role in this than was eluded to in book one. I'm anxious to see where this story is headed.

The beginning was good and that's what drew me in BUT from there on the story just did not work for me.

Too much drama, too much mistrust and way tooooooooo much Alexis. What a pain the ass she was. Habitually overeacting, continuously choosing to make her mind up that Brandon was up to "no good" before she was aware of the full facts/situation.....and Neil hmmmmm will I be right about him?

Forever? its not in this couples vocabulary!

I really liked this book. It would have been 5 stars if it didn't have the dreaded and really all to common cliff hanger at the end.

At this point the way books are going if you really want to be different and outstanding finish the story in one book or at least give us a happy for now ending and continue the story with a book 2.
