Everybody battles stress. That’s not even an overgeneralization, at some point, everybody will encounter stress. Some stress will be decidedly more profound than others, some stress will be more prolonged. The reality is, everybody needs comping mechanisms, preferably non-pharmaceutical ones (though, for many, medications are a life-saver).
This book includes some incredibly simple strategies to handle stress, both situational and prolonged. These are strategies that could genuinely benefit every person on the planet. Many I have tried, some I have not (I’d say I’m not an exercise person, but I do make an effort to walk every day, and I suppose that counts.). While I, personally, also battle with an anxiety disorder, most stress isn’t married to another mental illness, which can make it easier to manage. I have used journaling to manage my stress and anxiety for decades, so it was validating to see it included as a stress-management tip in this book. I started because it simply made me feel calm and I enjoy writing, but knowing there is science-backed proof of its efficacy was redeeming for me. Other strategies include breathing and exercising, both of which also come with their own evidence-based proof. There are some useful tips in this book, and it’s also compact and organized so that it’s not overwhelming (which is stress-inducing). I highly recommend giving this book a read.

Mindfulness!

This book really does help with its 7 steps to reduce stress. But what I really took from it was how to be mindful. It's way of interpreting mindfulness was mindblowing and helpful.
