This is the cutest book EVER! Even though it's on the longer side, I finished it in less than a day because I could not stop reading it. This is not my typical read: The language is pretty much PG(I only occurrence of the one F word off hand) and not only is there no sex, there is barely any kissing. Totally not like most of the books on my shelves... But I LOVED IT!!

In a nutshell, this is what it's about...

Trent Lancaster is a rich CEO who is out of touch with reality. He is constantly threatening to fire his employees and pretty much everyone thinks he's a jerk. His Executive Assistant, Carrie has been working out of the country for the past month but is about to come home. During her absence, he realizes how valuable and how special she is to him. He can't wait to see her, so he's there to pick her up at the airport when she arrives. She's surprised he's actually at her GATE since security doesn't allow that... He explains he bought a one way ticket (that he won't use)just so he could have access to the boarding/departing area. When she mentions the price of a coach ticket, he explains that no, he paid $5K+ for a first class ticket, because he would never fly coach! LOL This decision leads to their first calamity.... And this theme continues throughout the book: One seemingly simple decision leads to unforeseen consequences or circumstances. What a ride they go on over the next seven days! (The incident with the chocolate is probably my favorite!)

I LOVE how the author weaved so many details together to come up with the big picture. It seems NOTHING that happens is random.

There are plenty of books where the CEO does the fake marriage with his assistant or actually falls in love with his assistant - but I promise, there are none like this! This one is funny, sweet and refreshing - yet still romantic. I can't wait for more of Trent and Carrie in book 2!!

God, I loved this story! It was a dream...well more like a hilarious nightmare. The main characters have strong characteristics that the author sticks with consistently through the story. The secondary characters play over the top but in such a paradoxically realistic way you can't help but be drawn in.

The humor is everything from dry sarcasm to slapstick but there are laughs from every direction. I guarantee everyone could find something to laugh about. The hero/heroine chemistry is subtle but real which makes it stand out in the midst of all the chaos.

And eventhough it doesn't seem like it will, the week finally comes to an end. Your hair is windblown, you're pretty sure you lost your sunglasses, your stomach's queasy and your knees are still weak from the steep drops but you're ready to go again -- pretty much how you feel after riding the world's tallest rollercoaster or reading Worst Week Ever.

The first hill's a doosy but boy, what a ride!

OMG!!! This book had me crying I was laugh so much. I am not sure if it was suppose to be funny or not but it was!! I loved every minute of it.

This truly could be called the Worst Week Ever!!! If everything bad that could happen to anyone happen to Carrie and Trent, sometime twice a day lol. Carrie and Trent are total opposites of each other which makes them prefect together if they stop dancing around it. Trent is the boss from hell who thinks yelling is the way to get people to do things. Carrie is mild tempered EA who see the man her boss could be had he been taught too. The supporting characters are great! I could go on and on about this book but I don’t want to spoil it for anyone. If you want a light read that will make you laugh this is the book for you!

Liza don’t change a thing about the writing style or the characters that I have come to really enjoy. I can’t wait for more of Trent and Carrie.

Ugh, the douchebaggery is strong with this one. I'm amazed this book has such high ratings and glowing reviews. I just can't see it. This book was so hard to finish, but I did, amazingly enough. I felt like the idea was sort of cute and I really wanted to see how it played out. Although, I had to completely ignore the cover as the young lady on the cover looked to be about 12.

Anyway, Carrie Hanson is the young and very small (a detail the author assures you'll never forget as she repeats it eleventy-thousand times) executive assistant to the great (in his mind) Trent Lancaster who is such a pompous, vain, elitist douchy douche that he can't even be bothered to learn the names of the majority of his servants and employees. And the kicker, he makes his servants call him Master Trent. Like, seriously?!?!?!? It's no wonder everybody hates this guy. Anyway, through a series of unfortunate and amazingly unbelievable events, Trent begins to realize that he loves Carrie and needs her, however he does almost nothing about it, just goes about his merry way and talks about his future plans to woo her when everything lines up perfectly with his other employees who are absolutely terrible. I think Carrie is supposed to be in love with Trent, but I really couldn't tell. Maybe she had a crush, or she really liked him, idk. Arrests, theft, bomb threats, flying file cabinets, destruction of property, absurd assumptions, bodily injuries, custom drugs, and much more ensue as the story progresses, albeit at an excruciatingly slow pace. I was unprepared for the amount of repetitiveness and the of unnecessary explanation of every single situation in this story. This book probably could have been cut almost in half it it weren't for those explanations and the repetitiveness.

Aside from all of that, it really annoyed me to no end that the author seemed to be going for a sophisticated, highbrow read but repeatedly made the your/you're mistakes along with many other spelling and grammatical errors. Which, granted, should/would have been caught by an at least halfway decent editor.

Last, I'm sorry, did no one else figure out in like chapter 2 that Sam is Trent's half brother? Like seriously, it was so blatantly obvious that that was the reason for his father's deathbed request and Sam's resentment toward Trent. And I couldn't believe that by the end, no one addressed the issue. I suppose that's a subject for the next book in the series, which, honestly, I probably won't be reading.

I think the effort was good, but maybe tone it down a notch. It seemed like she was trying to make it this fabulous, comedic romance and over did it a tad.

I'm going to admit I' really had no idea what to expect when I started this book. It certainly wasn't the laugh riot i got. I don't remember any book I have read in recent times that has made me laugh so hard.

Trent is your typical out of touch spoiled company boss who has no idea how the real world works. Carrie his long suffering assistant. The interactions between them are a joy to read though like Carrie i quite often wanted to slap Trent upside the head for being such a dick.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book though i must admit a couple of times i was like stop torturing poor Carrie already she's been through enough.

Overall i give this book a 4 out of 5 Thoroughly enjoyable and i'm looking forward to the next in the series.

I have read many books that were suspenseful, exciting, romantic, touching... place suitable adjective here. Most books do not make me laugh. I can count the ones that even make me chuckle on the fingers of one hand.

Liza O'Connor nails it. If you need a book to lift your spirits and put a well-needed smile on your face, this is it!

A very engaging read. I shifted between wanting Carrie to dump her rich love interest to understanding why she was persevering, when glimpses of his good nature shone through.
There are some very emotional moments as well as some frustrating moments. Just like in real life.
A fun story and I would recommend it highly.

I spend 6 months as an EA at the end of last year and I was shocked how much I could relate to the antics of the boss in this book! Kept me up till 2am to finish and see how it ends. Thanks to CD Brennan as without her recommendation I would never have found this lovely author and great story!

Blurb:

Review:

Carrie is a likeable character who puts up with a lot because she sees the best in everyone. She’s kind, caring and unpretentious. Her sweet nature draws others to want to help her or fall for her.

Trent is pretentious and full of himself. He’s an uncaring playboy who finds out that he can’t run his company without Carrie. But when he begins to finally see her as who she is, he falls for her. Can he become the man for her?

The secondary characters steal the show! I love Joey, Mars and Sam. They all deserve their own stories! Each of them have a soft spot for Carrie (after all she’s hard not to love) and want to help her. Yet, they all get caught up in her Worst Week!

Ms. O’Connor writes a hilarious tale of misadventures that seem outrageous yet are real-life. She pulls readers into Carrie’s life and has them cheering for Trent to change. As the first book in the series, A Long Road to Love, I’m dying to see what happens next!

I recommend this read to anyone who loves a story filled with misadventures and comedic relief. A disaster story that features memorable characters that will have you cheering for them to succeed!

"Worst Week Ever" has to be one of the best books I’ve read in 2014. I had no idea I’d love the novel so much. What I had thought might be a quick read with about a chapter per day of the week, something to laugh at and a bit of romance – turned out to be full of wit, an emotional rollercoaster ride and lessons for life.
I’m not going to try and summarize the plot because I’ll just get my synopses tied into unmanageable knots. Let me hop on to the characters. I think I have a love-hate relationship with Trent. He makes for a fascinating, unusual hero, and I can see why Carrie has fallen for him. There are a lot of reasons why I want to bash his head against something hard, but I can see the core of good buried deep down inside him, so I’m pleased that he gets his chance in book 4 of the series, “Climbing out of Hell”. As for Carrie, she’s simply awesome. No other woman would put up with what she goes through (willingly and unwillingly). She’s a gem that no man deserves, and I really need to read “Coming to Reason” to find out if and how she finds true love.
This is not just a downright funny and entertaining and well-written story about everything possible going wrong in one week, but also an insightful study on how life works. You’ll find lots of criticism between the lines, about the rich and powerful, about the law, about the job world, about love and about society. And all that in a way that alternately makes you laugh and want to cry, that stirs up your anger and leaves you glowing with satisfaction and smithereens of hope. Carrie is full of hidden strength and kindness and intelligence, something I miss dearly in some heroines of (romance) novels.
This book by Liza O’Connor has my mind whirring. I want more – and I’m afraid my husband thinks I’ve gone bonkers because I kept bursting into giggles one minute only to shout NO the next minute while reading…

For all the pathos of Carrie and Trent’s problematic relationship, the humor carried this story. I’m not usually into romance, but I’ve been one of Ms O’Connor’s fans for a long time; the mixture of real life and humorous predictable events did not disappoint.
As it is the beginning of a series, not all threads are tied off and clipped short at the end. I dare say, none of them really are; Carrie and Trent make it to the end of the week, and we’re ready for the next story to start after breathing a sigh of relief that they haven't killed each other, and no one else has killed them either.
There are welcome touches of mystery and thriller, some of which remain for later volumes (Sam) and some of which fade into a chuckle - or belly laugh, depending on your background (the immigrant gardeners/housekeepers).
I found the characters were drawn to achieve the effects Ms O’Connor wanted; for me, they all worked, though I would have been happier if Miss Coco hadn’t been quite so much of a… However, I expect to have to deal with her through the remainder of the series, so she’s doing what is necessary, too.
I read Worst Week Ever on my Kindle; there were no formatting problems, although the cover looks better on the app on my MacBook Pro. I noticed very few typos, and none the first time through.
I heartily recommend this to readers who enjoy romance, adventure and humor. Enjoy laughing and then crying and laughing again. Me, I’m off to purchase Oh Stupid Heart.

Just how many things can go horribly, comically wrong in one short week? Plenty!
Trent is a horribly spoiled, overbearing and egotistical CEO. All of his employees hate him; that is, all except for his Executive Assistant.
Carrie is a bundle of happy, ‘get-it-done’ energy. She’s hard-working, competent and even gets along with her boss – most of the time.
Ms. O’Connor has created these and other characters who I’m certain will make you gasp with laughter just as hard as they did me. And her storyline is so convoluted (in such an innocent way) that you just can’t anticipate what is going to happen next.
With all the insane incidents and humorous dialog, I absolutely loved this book. I highly recommend it to everyone who likes a good laugh along with their romance!
And just to tease you a tiny bit without giving anything away, here’s a snippet of humor from the book:

“You can’t trip while we’re with the customer,” he warned.
“Tell them!” she snapped and gestured to her lovely shoes.
Hoping to put her in a better mood, he reached down and pulled her left foot onto his lap. “Lovely shoe, if you trip my dear EA while she dazzles the client, I will drown you in the Hudson River, and no one will ever see your spiky heel again.”
Her foot began to spasm. She laughed and extracted it from his lap. “You’ve terrified it into submission. Leave it alone now.”

I received a copy of this book as a prize from one of Ms. O’Connor’s contests. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did!

***** I was gifted a copy of this book for an honest review*****

This book was nothing like I expected. I laughed the whole way through this book. Liza O'Connor has written an amazing book with this one. This is not your typical rich boss falls in love with his employee. There is a little bit of everything in this book, but instead of the intense drama you get a muted version filled with humor. Once I started reading this book I could not put it down and I am sure everyone around me thought I was crazy since I couldn't stop laughing.

Trent and Carrie are amazing together. Trent thinks that he is above everyone because he is rich and dresses well. He constantly criticizes everyone around him. He thinks he should always get what he wants when he wants. He achieves this by yelling and threatening to fire everyone.

Carrie knows that deep underneath Trent's "better than you attitude" that he is a nice guy. She wants to help him get his business going in the right direction despite the fact he acts like a jerk

You put these two together for worst week ever for both of them and hilarity is bound to happen. Add in bomb threats, cops, crazy employees, weird servants, and an attraction. You never know what is going to happen.

This book gets a 5 star rating and a high recommendation. If you have not read it you should!

Ha, this book actually tickled me. I really liked Carrie, but it was Trent who totally sold this whole story for me.

The man is so completely clueless it's incredible. I suppose clueless isn't quite the right word. Maybe, living in his own world is a better description. His thoughts and perception are extremely distorted, and he seems to see everyone as an enemy out to get him. Of course, he doesn't realize he's such a gruff ass to most of them. Carrie happened to see passed that and actually took a chance and got to know him. Still doesn't make him less of an ass, but he's an endearing ass where Carrie is concerned. :)

The writing was clear and concise, and the story developed. There's a bit of what I would call slapstick humor throughout the book, which I happen to love.

All in all, I thought it was thoroughly engaging read. Now, I'm waiting to read the next in this series because I just have to know how these two will actually overcome the obstacles stacked against them to find their own happily ever after.

Humorous disaster romance that keeps you turning those pages.

Carrie is a cute-as-a-pie heroine with a ton of sassy dialogue. She might be tiny is size, but she can stand as tall as the rest of them. Trent is her uber-rich high-society boss, but theirs is not your normal employer/employee relationship. It's challenging, all-consuming, and completely off the charts. As they battle their worst week ever on the job, anything that can go wrong, does, and on a scale which draws the reader in. All the characters are so well developed with personalities that jump off the page, and I loved that most about this book. This is a romance with a twist, so expect a few chuckles as each disaster unfolds. Carrie and Trent certainly have a minefield to navigate on their way to reaching their HEA.

And you thought your week was bad

Something has happened to Cassey's nice in control life. Everything is going wrong. First she gets arrested at the airport after along flight from Taiwan... and things go downhill from there.
'Worst Week Ever' is a fascinating look at the ups and sometimes hilarious downs on the road to love.
Ms O'Connor has created a funny, fast paced story that will have you laughing out loud. You will want to keep reading to see what could possibly go wrong next.

This book is whacky. And I mean that in a good way. Not sure Trent is worthy of Carrie’s love and devotion, but I do love the way his mind works (or doesn’t work, as the case may be). If you like crazy humor, you’ll like this book. And I’d read the next in the series, but that most likely won’t happen. I won this copy as a pdf (which did not exactly make for optimal--or fun--reading) and the series is only available for a Kindle. I own a Nook. If the series ever shows up on B&N (or print), I’ll certainly buy them.

Overall the story was a good one and I would recommend it overall. The only reason I did not give this story a 5 star is that it seemed after awhile to be over the top. We all have those times when everything goes bad and even the weird is ordinary. I can understand most anything but some of this was just too much for me.

Sweetest Story.

Rarely have I laughed so much. Our heroine and hero are two different types. She is stable, wise, caring and able to make you feel like you're the most important person. Our hero is rich, arrogant, self serving and incredibly out of touch with r regular people. The comedy of misunderstanding are hilarious. You will love this sweet story.

There were a lot of things wrong here that I think a good beta read could have helped. The book overall needed a lot of tightening up, it was like a sweater unraveling in places.

The bad: The Tall and Tiny thing went on too long. It was just a weird chapter for me.

We were told too often about how everyone fell in love with Carrie - this woman had been working for Trent for 2 yrs, and suddenly she's the woman of everyone's dream? I also didn't need to be told three different times what her height and weight were.

My biggest complaint, though, was the "Master Trent" thing. The entire time I felt like I was reading about somebody's inside joke, but never got let in on the details. Why did Sam dislike him? Mars was a captain in the military? How does a military captain become a butler? And Trent, the lead character, he felt like a caricature of a rich derp - like a bad Hugh Grant movie. Oh, and the Russian mafia thing was just dumb, and the subplot of drugged turtles felt like failed comedy.

The good: I liked most of the characters individually. I didn't mind Carrie, except when we were being told how small she was, because I just stopped caring. I liked Sam, except that he did go from interesting to manwhore out of nowhere, and his girlfriend was odd, especially her jealousy over Carrie that was unfounded. Mars was alright, except we didn't really get his story, and then suddenly he's out of the picture because of the awkward Russian mafia plot, and "Mars - the other one" got old after the first time the second butler was described that way.

Sadly, the bad outweighed the good on this one, though it had promise, it just didn't follow through.

This has to be one of the zaniest, most charmingly funny and entertaining romance novels I've read in a long time. I think we romance readers have come to take romance a little too seriously - the angsty plot, the broken characters, turmoil and raging hormones.

Worst Week Ever has none of that. Instead, it offers characters that are a bit over the top going through situations that are a bit unbelievable at times but never dull. This book goes from one bizarre moment to the next, carrying the reader on a great adventure that is full of laughs. It was extremely entertaining and I had a hard time putting the book down.

The male protag is the quintessential 'billionaire' from family money, complete with servants, a penthouse and a Long Island Estate. He has some anger issues, but he's written in a way that makes his outlandish toddler-resembling behaviour endearing. He also has a big heart underneath all the rough edges.

The female protag is about the only one who can see that heart. She just has to get through the worst and craziest week of her life to get to it.

The book offers a HFN ending and I am looking forward to continuing the stories of all the characters that Liza has brought to life for this series.

While I loved the entertainment and laughs, I felt like there weren't any moments of pause to let the reader catch their breath and get a deeper look at the characters. Sometimes it felt like I was stuck on a rocket-powered merry-go-round.

Oh, and I have to say that Tiny and Tall are AWESOME!
