When ex-cop, Lewis Kagen, learns his childhood friend has been viciously murdered, his sheer determination to hunt down the killer has him breaking all the rules. But the FBI is more interested in confiscating what Lewis finds, rather than searching for the murderer. The only real piece of evidence doesn't lead Lewis where he thinks it will. Instead he finds himself in the depths of the earth, where he discovers that mankind is not alone and haven't been for centuries.
Started out as murder mystery. The main character was the usual tortured / injured former cop who is now a down and out private detective. The book goes in a unusual and interesting direction. I have already purchased book 2 for my kindle. The writing is excellent. I do not want to give anything away, but have to say the descriptions of the characters and the location are awesome. Give this book a chance. It was a great .99 cent purchase on Kindle.
I started reading this book expecting a mystery. I got more than I bargained for. It indeed was a mystery within a mystery. Many twists and turns will keep you reading to find out what could possibly happen next.
