My introduction to Kay Widow’s writing was Bloody Billionaire’s Baby. After reading it, I was looking for some more vampires and when I saw Blood Inheritance on Book Sirens, I snapped it up.
I think of Blood Inheritance as a vampiric twist of Pretty Woman. Ezra is looking for a human to help him die and in return she will receive his fortune. He is done with ‘living’. He chose Lydia Francesca DeSilva.
Someone good and pure. Young and healthy. Ambitious but not self serving. Intelligent, but not pretentious. It’s a lot to ask of someone, but I have high hopes this time.
The description is spot on. She is a twenty one year old virgin with some fabulous friends. She is everything he is looking for and more.
In this 210 page story, Kay Widow has packed a lot. The romance is slow burning. Her sweetness and openness got me wrapped up in the romance. I had moments of sadness and moments of happiness. Will she be able to give him a reason for living?
I have more I would like to share, but I feel less is more. I think we know where the story will go, but it is the wonderful journey that makes me want to read more of Kay Widow’s work.
I voluntarily reviewed a free copy of Blood Inheritance by Kay Widow.
According Ezra Nocturn, being immortal is overrated. After 500 plus years of walking the earth, he is ready for a permanent change. He has a plan, he just needs to find the perfect human to inherit his fortune and use the Bloodline Dagger on him. Lydia DeSilva is a college student who was raised as a devout Catholic. She has been through a lot in her life so far, and is drawn to Ezra. When Ezra asks her to help him, she really struggles with the idea of what he is asking her to do - this goes against everything she believes in. He agrees to give her one month to change his mind.
I had no expectations when I picked this book up but I really loved the story and the ending was..chef's kiss. I really didn't know how it was going to end - I enjoy suspense in books and this one did not disappoint. I only wish there was more to the ending, maybe an epilogue something else? I really liked the character growth and how they evolve throughout the story. If you like vampires and are looking for a story that is a little different, pick this one up!

First off let me say this book was well written and kept me on my toes. The story is told from a dual pov from both MCs Ezra and Lydia perspective, which gives you a glimpse into how they both feel about the arrangement that Ezra created between them. This is a slow burn romance with some angst.
Ezra is a vampire who has lived through a lot and is wanting to find an heir to inherit his fortune. Lydia is a college student who was raised in the Catholic Church and has faced many tragedies throughout her life. When they meet each other Ezra has a major ask from her that goes completely against the Catholic beliefs and teachings she was raised on. Through the story you see her struggling with what is asked of her and her faith. Ezra has been alive a long time and has been on a mission to find the perfect heir for his fortune, which turns out to be Lydia. The ending of the story is so sweet and even up until the last chapter was still a little unexpected to me.
This is the first book I’ve read by Kay Widow and I will definitely be reading more. I loved the author’s storytelling and the way the book was written. I also liked her take on vampires and that there are two different types. The author meticulously created characters that compliment each other and they have different but similar backgrounds. I highly recommend this book for anyone who likes a good vampire romance.

Tropes: Age gap Virgin heroine Marriage of convenience Opposites attract
Told in dual POV, the books starts off with Ezra Nocturn following a girl whom we learn is Lydia, into a church. As I started reading I first thought he was following her because she was his mate, however that is not the case. We learn Ezra has been on this earth for 513 years and is tired of losing people he loves so he is searching for a human to marry him, and then….end his life!? Yicks! After awhile Lydia agrees to his terms, with the condition that he give her a month to try to convince him not to end his life.
Twenty one year old Lydia Francesca DeSilva was born into the Catholic religion. She is deeply religious as she feels closest with her deceased parents and sister. Lydia feels drawn to Ezra from the start.
Kay Widow is a brand new author to me so I am unsure of her normal writing style. I normally read much spicier books but I did enjoy Blood Inheritance. This is a very slow burn book with a semi opposites attract vibe. I enjoyed all the characters and their backstories. I am giving it four stars because of the ending. Every author has their style of course, I just wish there was an epilogue a few years into their future or maybe just a few more chapters at the end. The way it ended WAS beautiful and tastefully done though.
Quotes:
I want to know a love that ruins me, too.
“Until death do us part,” I whisper. Ezra smiles at me, taking my face in his hands. It’s not an almost-smile. It’s a genuine smile, full of joy and light. The sun washes over both of us as we embrace on the floor, as if the warmth of Heaven itself has let loose a few droplets from above. “Until death do us part,” Ezra echoes. And he seals the promise with a kiss.

There’s so much that speaks directly to my inner longing for a love that belongs in a romance novel - I mean with these lines who doesn’t swoon?
“I want to know a love that ruins me, too.”
Ezra is a sympathetic character who brings form to darkness and loss but he’s not broken beyond repair! Lydia is a great foil to tease out his passion and story.
She’s young and naive enough to believe she can ‘save’ Ezra but old enough to understand the gravity of his decision.
Such a fab read!

Ezra Nocturn. Handsome, "Venture Capitalist", and bloodline vampire - and he needs a favor from a human.. and not a small one. Good thing he's had his eye on one for a while who seems to be the perfect victim.
Lydia DeSilva. College student, philanthropist, and a strong Catholic. She sees the best in everyone, even though she has experienced more grief in her lifetime than most. Maybe that's why she feels drawn to this shadow-cloaked stranger who asks her to do something very strange and against everything that she's ever believed in.
Initially, the talk/pushback against religion was something that I thought was going to turn me off of the book, but the way that her faith and belief was made into something that made her better despite the evils that often come with organized religion was a redeeming factor for me.
I absolutely loved the development of both characters, although I felt like there just could've been more. The last 20 minutes of the book (I read on my kindle) just felt rushed to me. Not to mention it felt like there was going to be some sort of wrench thrown into the plan based on how the plot was building and little things that the characters would say, and that just never happened. So it felt like I was missing something but I had no idea what it was. I think that is what stopped me from giving it 5 stars.
Overall, I enjoyed this book and would recommend it just for the fact that I love how different the characters start out and how they change as the book progresses - but not in the way that you would expect.
This is the story about Ezra and Lydia - in blood inheritance. 🧛

So much to this story is great, I loves it and hated it at the same time, she tryed so hard to get him to see good in life again, to turn the darkness in his world to light. She just wanted it so bad and everytime he basically shut it down maybe not in words to her but in his thoughts, but I did understand being alive for hundred off years and on your own is a lonely and dark world, he just needed someone (Lydia) to bring love and light to his dark and lonely world.
I can't tell you how happy I was with the way it ended. I actually cried happy tears. I highly recommend this book 📚. Don't walk run and get this book.
I've read a couple of this authors books and everytime it's been great. 10/10 for me.
WOW!!! This is a must read story about Lydia and Erza in the Blood Inheritance and it a page turner and the suspense was worth the wait. I enjoyed reading this book so much. I was at the edge of my seat and I could not stop reading it or put it down not even for a moment. Erza was in love with Lydia but she was a human and he was a sexy hot vampire. Erza wanted a heir before died and Lydia was a young college student who was working toward getting a degree. His vampire clan wanted him to decide to make a decision to who will inheritance his money and others stuff as well. Was this love for Erza and Lydia but it was complicated . It was dark bloody and a war over property and money. Should Lydia killed Erza or have a heir for him and married him until the end of his death if he still wanted to died. I highly recommend this book and you will not be disappointed at all. I can't wait until the next book come out!!!! i try not to post spoilers but I’d say read with caution anyways because I do talk about things in the book. Idk how much you wanna know before you read it.
I honestly loved this story. I’m not a huge fan of how religious Lydia is because of my own past but I can definitely look past it for the sake of the story and because she’s not a fundamentalist type. I want more of them. I need to know where life takes them. Like how is this man a vicious predator and the worlds sweetest man at the same time!? Lol I do plan on reading more of the series but I’m the type to have trouble moving on from characters until at least 1/4 of the way in the next book 😂😂 you will cry happy and sad tears, you will be excited and happy, you’ll probably be completely over at least one of them, some second hand embarrassment happens, and you may be aroused or completely disgusted… or both at the same time. I’m not one to judge. Definitely recommend. Also the ending was perfect.
I received a copy of this book for free and I am leaving this review voluntarily. First off, the characters in this book are lovable and the chemistry and tension between them is great. I was surprised by how much Lydia's religion comes into this book, it didn't ruin the book for me but it did catch me off guard. This book had a good story but felt like it was leading up to something and it never got there. It felt like the author was setting the stage of the story for 3/4 of the book and then at the end when it seemed something exciting was about to happen it didn't come of anything. The ending was so abrupt that it really surprised me, it was however a HEA so I appreciated that. Maybe I was just expecting something more and it didn't meet my own personal expectations. It was written in a light hearted and appealing way and I would read more from this author. I don't regret reading this book but it won't be on my re-read list either.
'Blood Inheritance' is an interesting story about a very religious young Catholic woman, Lydia and a vampire who desires to die, Ezra. He needs a human to kill him, and he finds Lydia, the perfect human to him to end his unhappy life. She agrees to kill him with a special vampire knife, and she will inherit all that he owns. She does this because she believes that she can change his mind and that life is good.
Lydia is a pure soul whose focus in life it to help others, quite contrary to Ezra, who has been a vampire for centuries and has quite a complex history. As Lydia's family has all died, she has suffered grief just as Ezra because he has also experienced loss. They discover that they have a deep connection with one another. It has a sweet ending that I won't spoil.

I loved this story, a page turner with wonderful characters.
Ezra is a 513 year old bloodline vampire who’s the last of his family and has had enough of ‘living’. He’s been searching for years and has chosen Lydia to inherit his families wealth as she’s good and kind.
He approaches her with the offer to marry him so he can put her in his will and then she is to kill him with one of 7 bloodline daggers (the only thing that can kill him). Lydia however likes to help everyone. She accepts as long as he gives her time to try to convince him that he doesn’t want to die.
A beautifully told story and it was lovely to watch them grow closer in the time they had together. I loved learning their back stories and can’t wait for the next in this series to find out about the other bloodline daggers.

This was a really different sort of vampire story for me. The whole premise for Ezera and Lydia to be together felt like a journey of inner reflection from two POV. I really enjoyed the calm/matter of fact exploration of each other’s expectations, experiences and reactions to shared experiences. While there seemed to be a strong religious/God undertone to much of the story, I think it helped to just highlight the different contexts of both Ezera and Lydia’s lives . While I was pleased with the ending, I really really wanted to get a glimpse of this pair several years in the future. Still, I have a good feeling about them.

Ok, where do I start? This book is written so beautifully that you won’t be able to put it down. When it starts out, I was confused at where it was headed. I had to know so I kept reading. Then, I was snagged by the characters. Ezra asks the impossible if Lydia, and in her way of trying to grant his wish, they naturally fall in love. It wasn’t instant, but it didn’t take long as they spent every moment they could together. It was sweet and pure, reminding you of all the reasons love is grand. It spoke to my hopeful romantic heart. I loved it. I just wish I knew how the next 70 years plays out….I guess I’ll need to read the next few books in order to get some glimpses. 😁
Engaging story about Ezra a vampire who is tired of his eternal life and wants to die and Lydia an optimistic kind woman in college who he asks to kill him with a special knife only a human can kill him with. Ezra plans to leave his fortune to Lydia for the deed but Lydia bargains back. Can she change his mind? The characters were likable for both experienced grief and loss that bound them along with the chemistry and attraction which bloomed in this story that was enjoyable to read. It's a touchy romance as Ezra is drawn to Lydia and learns the joy of being alive in this copy I've received and volunteer to review.
When you think about vampires, most won't think wholesome. But that's what this was. It was an adorable and wholesome read. After 5 centuries, Ezra is tired of living, and looking for the perfect person to not only leave his inheritance to, but to end his life. Lydia seemed to be the perfect one. But lydia being the sweet person she is, made a deal, for Ezra to give her a month to change his mind. To help him find reason to live. But with such a short time, will she? Or will she just give in, and give him what she wants, to end his suffering.
Ezra was an immortal vampire ready to die! He’d lived more than 500 years and had been looking for the perfect human to end his existence. He thought he’d found her in Lydia.
Although Lydia had been through a lot of sadness, she still loved to see the best in people and help. Agreeing to help Ezra, hoping she could change his mind was why she agreed to his plan.
Beautifully written story with wonderful characters and some heartfelt moments with a wonderful HEA which will touch anyone with a romantic heart!

Ezra, a vampire fed up with life, stalks Lydia, a sweet young woman who is good and kind. He asks her to kill him and she will inherit all his wealth. Bargaining with him, she asks for three months to change his mind. He agrees to one month and thus begins their story. Once again Kay Widow has written a delightful vampire/human tale with a twist.

I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily. I enjoyed the premise of this book. Unfortunately, I don't feel like the characters are fully fleshed out. I would have like to see more on how Lydia spends her time convincing Ezra. I think this story really has potential.
What can I say, Kay Widow has done it again! This is such a pleasurable read. I couldn't put it down.
The characters are fairly well developed, likable and interact very well within the story. The storyline is unique and interesting which kept me enthralled. It flows well and leaves you wanting more.
This is one click worthy as are all Kay Widow books. Go, grab them all!
This isn’t you usual vampire read. The relationship between Ezra and Lydia is quite interesting. Ezra has been on earth for 400 years and he wants to end it. Lydia is a student and Ezra wants her to use the blood knife on him. When the time comes will she be able to do it or will love win out. I voluntarily review a copy of this book via Booksirens.
I was right back in this world and cannot wait to see if there will be more set there. It would be interesting to see if some of the side characters will get their own stories and if these characters will show up. Love always wins in the end and it would be interesting to see if in the future the dagger really does get used. Ezra and Lydia are interesting characters because I can see myself in Lydia and Ezra is different than most vampires out there. I really loved this book. It was well written and captured my attention right from the start and held it through out. I cant wait till more from this series is out.
