Simply Effortless Style

Rate this book
Style expert Lee Heyward believes that style is simply "the outer expression of the inner you." And her this book demonstrates that style is not about being egotistical or becoming a fashionista, but about easy steps that help women not only discover their own, personal style, but also show them how to dress authentically and maintain their style in order to make their own lives easier.

Simpler. Even effortless. Lee Heyward wanted to forego the glossy façade format of many style materials and give women a handy tool that walks them through simple activities to help even the busiest or least "fashiony" person dress easily and purposefully.

From redefining style in general, adjusting attitudes about the importance of style, and defining personal style through special exercises, to closet "edits" and inventories, tips for shopping like a pro and learning the art of dressing from the inside out through step by step instructions, Ms Heyward goes far beyond just styling the reader. She teaches the reader how to be stylish, from a mental attitude to the outer use of clothing as expression.

Although it took me a while to finish this book, I thought it had some good ideas for me. I'd probably reread if if my TBR pile weren't so big!

This extremely practical and contemporary book addresses most of the clothing problems women have in life, from adapting to pregnancy and a more informal workplace environment to taking on a professional role later in life. It provides useful lists of wardrobe staples, including what to include for summer and winter wear. It doesn’t only cater for the career woman but also for the tourist, the homemaker, the hobbyist and the partygoer, which I appreciated. The author includes interesting anecdotes from her consulting business as a stylist, making it an interesting and entertaining read.
