Emotional Ride

I wish I had been warned. This was a very hard read for me and I have to admit to a very ugly bout of crying. It was so sad in places and I am unable to spoil it for anyone. Just know that you are going to experience some heartache. The hero is so cruel at one point that I wanted to take a contract out on him. The heroine is amazing. Someone in the book described her as an angel and that is so true. But the real star here is Nick!!! I can't tell you anymore but that character is simply wonderful! I took away one star because of something that happens but normally I would take away at least three. It was so beautiful. This is a safe read and he did have a prior love who had died tragically five years ago and he had never moved on. Of course there is a wannabe OW that causes some angst. I would totally recommend this book though 'For Nick' alone. Heartbreak and all.

BIG SPOILERS

This is for me to remember. He leaves her with check at restaurant and she can't pay it. She calls him 25 times and he never answers. She ends up arrested and in jail and another inmate attacks and gropes her and it was very horrendous all around. He comes after lunch the next day and says oh my phone was off and I didn't listen to my messages, etc., etc. I hated him at this point.

The plot with Nick is simply brilliant and very sad. I can't spoil that for anyone. It must be read.

I'm in the minority on this one for a number of reasons. I agree with a few 2 star reviewers - for a MOC, the romantic relationship was pushed way too quickly; a wealthy man seeking the MOC arrangement would have had MOC participant investigated thoroughly - considering he had a lawyer, a pre-nup, etc.; the h's secret - she tried to tell him over and over - he just didn't want to know; H doesn't want to hear it - let's just keep our lives separate - then makes assumptions on what he sees and treats her like crap. The last 35% is melodramatic contrivance that pissed me off. I wish someone had let me know about this one - this is why I need spoilers.

I wish I had known. This would have been on my "doubtful" shelf. Another issue is I found this one somewhat boring - I skimmed a lot. 2 stars.

Incredibly emotionally manipulative and tear jerking story that predicates that the hero is dumber than dirt leaping to stupid conclusions and a heroine that needs to simply talk. That said, it worked for me and made me tear up. I loved the angst when he pulls away, when she’s shutting down, and the subsequent horror and shame the H feels when he realizes what a schmuck he’s been.

Melody Cox reviews says it better.

One line stood out regarding the big, bad secret, and it’s kind of a spoiler so beware.

This was really more like 2.5 stars, and I was debating whether I should round it up or down, but I ended up feeling so massively disappointed by it that I had to give it 2 stars. Marriages of convenience are one of my favorite tropes!!!!! The book should have gotten an extra half star for that aspect alone!!!!! But unfortunately despite my expectations of what the book would be based on the summary, it spent very little time on the aspects of the marriage of convenience trope that I love, and really rushed into a romantic relationship between the two characters WAY too quickly. And then the remaining 65% of the book was just contrived melodrama. THERE WERE SO MANY MISUNDERSTANDINGS THAT COULD HAVE BEEN SOLVED BY THEM JUST TALKING TO EACH OTHER. Also, the whole mystery of who Nick was was seriously irritating and was dragged out way too long.

So yeah, basically, the book started off really promising, but as I read on, I kept mentally deducting the rating I would give it a half star periodically. Overall I just found this book very disappointing.

I loved this book! This was the first book I have read by Taylor Dean, and I definitely plan to read more! She did a great job of making these characters real! I fell in love with Zach and Andie and I found myself cheering them on in the good times, and wanting to cry with them in the bad times... In fact, it's possible that I did cheer and cry at times during this book!

Andie thinks she is going to a job interview at Drake Enterprises. But really Zach Drake is looking for so much more than a personal assistant, and he feels like he has struck gold when he meets Andie. At first Andie refuses his "proposition," but then realizes that she will do anything for Nick. Zach and Andie have both known heartache, and that just makes what they find with each other that much sweeter!

We hear a lot about Nick the first half of the story; it's obvious that Andie loves Nick a lot and will do anything "for Nick." I don't want to say too much and give away the story (even though I really want to tell it all right now), but I will say that I loved Nick as much as I love Zach & Andie!

Of course there were misunderstandings and stupid decisions that brought misery to everyone, but those just made the ending that much sweeter!

I love Epilogues... I wish every single book had an Epilogue! But I really, really loved this Epilogue!

When I started reading I thought the book seemed a little slow, I was wrong. Once the first couple of chapters were down I couldn't put the book down. An emotional rollercoaster is definitely an understatement, the story made me laugh, get angry and sob like a baby. A completely brilliant story and a thoroughly good read.

Zach's Grandfather's dying wish was to for his Grandson to marry again within a year or lose the company that he had worked so hard to build up. Andrea needs money desperately and finds Zach's proposition to be her only option, assured that there will be no intimacy required she readily agrees. Things seem to be going so well until misunderstandings and wild assumptions threaten to tear them apart. Untold heartache seems to wait around every corner for Andrea but will Zach be there when she needs him?

This is not your normal run of the mill story, it is so much better than that and is definitely worth a read.

DNF. Skimmed part of the end. I agree with many of the other reviews. The angst and slow burn led to the long-awaited reconciliation, but the whole thing was overshadowed by terrible (and gratuitous, imo) tragedy. I know these terrible things befall people irl, but I’m glad I read a few spoilers and didn’t go in blind. It was just too much. The whole book was like a torture sesh. The H was way too oblivious and impulsive. The h was too much of a tortured martyr. The two terrible things that befall the h in the end are so heartbreaking that it didn’t matter to me that the H finally gets his head out of his a$$. No amount of groveling could surmount the bleakness and redeem the story for me.

Wow! Another great book by author Taylor Dean. This is the 4th book I have read of hers and as soon as I finished late last night I downloaded another of her books.
This one was a crazy emotional ride. I loved, I loathed, I laughed and cried. So well done. I highly recommend this one!

Content: Clean (however a marriage in consummated and marital relationships are talked about and occur regularly, it is all closed door, no sex scenes)

Andie Parker needs a job . She’ll take anything. Do anything, for Nick. So upon someone’s urging, she applies at a Fortune 500 company. She’s the last of twenty girls to apply. Figuring she has no chance, she still stays for the interview. She’d do anything for Nick.

Her name is called. She’s greeted by the owner, Zachary Drake. He’s impeccably dressed and very handsome, but there’s a coldness in his eyes. He rocks her back on her heels with his offer and she quickly goes for her Mace.

This was my first laugh out loud moment. Taylor had me giggling when Andy pulled out her pepper spray. She was so ready to use it.

Zachary, a powerful and very rich man, is used to women falling at his feet. He’s in for a shock with Andie. Yet, she’d do anything for Nick.

After some hemming and hawing, Andie accepts the job. She has no other choice.

I don’t know what it is about Taylor Dean’s books. I’m not much into romance, yet her books captivate me. Perhaps it’s her characters.

Andie and Zach are both so genuine. They have flaws, insecurities. And these cause strong heart ache for both of them.

Both are determined, ready to do whatever it takes to obtain their goals. This also causes some turbulent times.

And both are lonely, in need of a shoulder to lean on, someone to trust. But how do you trust someone you hardly know? Trust them with something so personal, so dear?

This is where Taylor truly shines. She gives you living breathing characters. Ones so real, so full of foibles. You become connected to know them. Feel their joys, pains, and fears. Laugh with them. Worry about them. And yes, cry with and for them.

I knew going into For Nick that I’d need some tissues close by. I almost cried several times. Then, I reached a scene that touched me so deeply. As I was reading, my vision blurred, I could hardly read through the tears welling up in my eyes. As they streamed down my face, I paused, reached for a tissue, and got a hold of my emotions. I wondered if Taylor cried for her characters.

Andie and Zach might not have been looking for love, but love had a way of finding them.

A beautiful love story. I ‘felt’ every bit of it.

I was gifted a copy of this book for my honest review.

Taylor Dean can spin a tale that will tug at your heartstrings and For Nick is no exception. I used to think that contemporary and inspirational fiction was not my cup of tea, but authors like Taylor have won me over. The fabulous writing and realistic characters have the ability to touch my heart and leave me wanting more.

I knew right away something was wrong and what would happen but not why. Taylor’s writing grabs my attention and doesn’t let go. She will lure you in, starting out all lovey dovey and sweet, then BAM!

Zachary’s grandfather had given him a choice. He had one year to find someone and marry, or he would lose his inheritance.

He chose Andie, because she said no in a firm and funny way that intrigued him. I couldn’t help but smile at her response to him.

The deal, one year of marriage, one episode of consummation, one million dollars.

The dance of love, when all is bright fun and breathtaking. The banter between him and Andie is fun. They act like kids in love, sometimes goofy and playful.

Why are we so closed that lack of communication can ruin something so good? I get frustrated with no communication. The “funny” thing is, it complicates real life too. Taylor has a way to make her characters come to life, draw you in, and never let you go.

The saying curiosity killed the cat is so appropriate, but I will leave it to you to find out why for yourself.

The restaurant scene not only broke my heart, it pissed me off. Tissues required.

I was already on the verge of tears, but when Andie said “I’m scared,” my tears flowed and my throat tightened. I couldn’t see the words through the tears streaming down my face. I tried to read through them so I could find a happy place to take a breath. Painful and sweet, laughter with the tears, isn’t that life?

The story is predictable, but the journey is an adventure I was delighted to be on.

For Nick smacks of the Pretty Woman movie, with Julia Roberts, fairy tales and miracles.

Taylor has a way with endings. You think you know it, but she puts in a special twist that clutches at your heart, yet fills it with joy. She adds that little twist that will make you smile and crave more. I want to tell you so much more…but I am done.

This is a story you want to learn on your own, no spoilers from me.

I received a copy of For Nick by Taylor Dean in return for an honest and unbiased review.

Andie is told about a job opening and when she goes to interview, she is surprised by what the job offer actually is. She is in desperate need of money so she agrees to marry Zach. Zach doesn't want to know personal details about her life. Then they discover they really like each other and a lack of communications causes drama for them. Will they survive this and be able to trust each other again? Or will Nick come between them?

I love this book!! It seemed like a happy ending early on but since there was a lot of book left, I realized that something big was going to happen. Zach and Andie are adorable together and I loved watching their relationship develop into something real. But Nick was always looming in the background and definitely isn't a relationship Andie is going to let go of. I'm not giving any spoilers with this so you'll have to read this book yourself to find out who Nick is and why Andie won't let that relationship go. I cried a lot towards the end. If you need a good cry, grab some tissues and curl up with this book!

MOC with misunderstandings due to not communicating about Nick.

Started a bit boring and sweet then it was so angsty it hurt my heart and then it was heartbreakingly sad and then a bit boring and sweet again.

A very similar plot to His sugar baby by Sarah Roberts that I just read, except that book was erotic and this is very pure.
These two get into an arranged marriage and fall in love. Heroine Andie has this big secret that she really wants to tell him about but dumb hero Zach does not want to know about heroine’s reasons for marriage. And then hero thinks she was playing him and retreats, starts treating her badly, flaunts OW, hurts her emotionally. She keeps trying to get to him but eventually gives up. And then we find out about Nick.

Man I really wasn't expecting to be so drawn in by For Nick. I wasn't expecting to be so emotional over the story. I was looking for just a light, easy read in between library books, but this was...I finished it yesterday and I still can't get over the story. The synopsis made me think it was just going to be one of those cheesy romances where two people are thrown together and pretend to be a couple for their own reasons, then fall in love. This story was so much more than that though. It was a pleasant surprise, even if it was a real downer in parts.

The story starts off with Zach needing to find a wife or he will lose his grandfathers company. His grandfather wasn't happy that he hadn't moved on from his first wife, who died in a tragic accident, so he made it a condition in his will. In order for Zach to run the company he has to be married for a year.

Andie has to be one of the kindest, nicest, most selfless people ever. She desperately needs money to help Nick, though you do not find out who Nick is until later in the book. She applies for what she thinks is an assistant position at Zach's company and right from the start it is amazing. Zach and Andie obviously are perfect for each other. Their first interactions are so fun! It makes me smile just thinking about them together.

Obviously Andie is not there to be an assistant. Zach proposes they get fake married for a year, just pretending they are married in public. He doesn't want any attachments, and after a year they walk away. The only hitch is they need to consummate the marriage once to make it official. When that happens would be up to Andie. She must initiate it. This almost is a deal breaker for Andie, but she need the money so bad she is able to convince herself it will be worth it.

Right from the start Andie and Zach are so cute. They are adorable. Silly, goofy, just fun to read. They just made me so happy. I know they pretty instantly got together, and Andie even says how she was never a believer in insta-love, but this was believable for me. This story was an example of when insta-love is okay. When I feel like it is real, not just insta-physical attraction called love. They are so goofy and I loved it. I am sitting here typing this review and I have the biggest, stupidest grin on my face just thinking about their alliterations and their silly day to day interactions. I loved them.

I was so caught up in the story I couldn't put the book down. Everything else was not as important as reading this book, but I didn't even realize how sucked into the story I was. About halfway through my husband came home from work and I was just like shoot...I should have dinner ready by now. I didn't realize it was so late. I also was in a funk all through dinner as I was so distraught for Andie. I had to put the book aside right after Zach finds her completely shut down. Right after she decides she cannot try anymore. Zach had mistakenly thought she was actually a horrible person, and he shut her out completely on the day she was her happiest she has been in a long time. She kept trying to get through to him and tell him what is happening, how much she loves him, but he just avoids her and completely shuts her out. After the final straw she just shuts down. It was so sad and I was so upset by all of it. I couldn't shake my melancholy throughout dinner and couldn't wait to get back to the book.

Things to turn around some, but man that moment when she is just completely shut down was the hardest for me. There are some other sad moments, but they couldn't top how lost and devastated I was for Andie at that moment. Of course Zach learns the truth. He learns how horrible he has been to Andie for no reason. He learns everything, and then he is all in once again. He has to try and redeem himself, and for some reason the whole last part of the book was not as good as the first parts. It was still amazing, just not as emotional as the first parts for me. I don't really know why. Maybe the breakdown in the middle just did me in and I wasn't able to deal with any more pain and suffering.

The very end though, the last chapter...Zach trying to find things and use the phone and drive...man that was hilarious. I actually laughed out loud, something I don't normally do. It brought it right back around to the ridiculous, silly, goofy story that it started out as. So even though it was rough through the middle of the book, it ended on a happy high. I can't say enough good things about this book. It really took me on a roller coaster ride of emotions. I can't wait to read another of the authors works. Hopefully it will be just as good.

This book is and will always be on my keeper shelf. I loved this book. Not what happened to Nick, cause I cried like a baby when I read that part. But the development of the two characters shows growth and trust.

Zach was such and ass in the beginning and to use Cami to make Andie jealous was horrible ( but secretly I loved the drama)

I highly recommend this book, I promise you will not be able to put it down. It will make you laugh, cry, gasp and use words that a proper lady should not. Cause Zach is that big of an ass in the beginning and middle of this book. But he does redeem himself in a wonderful way.

This book kept me up reading late into the night. I just didn't want to put it down- I had to know. Yeah, I figured out pretty quick the whole story but that didn't make me any less interested in reading to the end. It pulled at my emotions. I like books that can evoke real emotion in me.

This book contained sexual situations, between a married couple, nothing described in detail beyond kissing, but you definitely know it's happening. A couple instances of mild swearing.

Taylor Dean has a writing style that I love, even though she tugs at my heart strings.

We start off with a bit of a tragedy, then delve right into the mystery and start to heap on the romance. I love how things start going so well (there is so much love and happiness) that you start wondering what's possibly going to happen for the next 2/3's of the book. And then... hold on to your heart!

Though I suspected a few things before they were revealed, I was still curious how it would all play out. Hold out to the end, for our sweet MC finally gets her HEA. This was an engaging and emotional roller coaster of a ride. Great characters, a few plot twists and I confess that I cried.

4 stars!

I love Andie but I fell out of love with Zach in the middle. Their relationship started with marriage then during the honeymoon period they became friends then they fell in love (though they never confessed it).

But Nick was Andie's first and ultimate love. Widow Andie married the widower Zach because of Nick! But we didn't get to know Nick later (though I had a grasp who this person was).

Many times Andie wanted to tell Zach about why she married him for money and there were times that she wanted to tell him about Nick. Our Hero did not want to get to know about the heroine "personally".

Then he thought that Andie betrayed and used him blah blah. His ways were so mean that I pitied Andie. All he had to do was talk to her. Andie fought for their budding relationship but Zach brushed her off many times. And he had the gall to make her jealous with the other woman!

DO NOT CLICK THE SPOILER BUTTON!

Later on we learned about Nick. And how Zach tried to redeem himself in the eyes of Andie.

I wanted to give this 1 star for the Hero because he was such a jerk! Duh. The stars are not for him but for Andie and Nick.

I don't think everyone would like this book ahahaha! I got turned off because of the Hero but the heroine and Nick made this book wonderful.

2.5 stars. The angsty parts were extremely well done but the sappy parts were way to sugar sweet. Also there were bits about the moc that were pretty unrealistic, like the fact a rich man would marry an obviously destitute woman without wanting to know anything about her background. Worth the read though if you enjoy the woman unjustly judged trope and the hero regretting it. He treated her like absolute shit for a bit.

It's been a couple weeks since I finished this book, but I am going to do my best to review this properly. It's going to be hard to do because there is a huge part of the story that is a mystery and to reveal any part of that would ruin the suspense. I won't spoil anything, I promise!

This story starts with a prologue that shows us what happened to Zach's wife. It's a heartbreaking chapter, but it's what ultimately leads us to the present story. Zach's grandfather has passed away leaving him with the family business, which just happens to be a multi-million dollar enterprise. He has one stipulation, Zach must be happily married within the following year in order to remain at the head of the company. It sounds like a horrible situation, but Zach's grandfather only wants him to find happiness again. He knows that it's out there if Zach will just take the chance and find it.

When we meet Andi we know nothing about her except the fact that the love of her life, the one she will do anything for, is Nick. Andi has a job interview, it's a job she desperately needs and it just happens to be with Zach. The ad says he is looking for a personal assistant, but she finds out almost immediately that this isn't the case at all. She is the last of the women he has seen and the moment he sees her he knows that she is the perfect one for what he has in mind and the fact that she passes his little "test" is an even bigger plus. Andi is taken aback by his proposal. Zach needs someone to pose as his wife in the public eye for the span of a year. For this year of her time she will be paid 1 million dollars. She isn't required to have feelings for him, they just need to convince his grandfather's lawyers that the marriage is real for one year. He will even pay her the money up front and she needs that money more than anything. Andi needs time to think about it, but we all know that, given her situation, she is not going to be able to pass this up. Now, I say given her situation, but really we know nothing about her at this point other than it's been made clear that she is living on very little and she has this person in her life that needs the money.

Zach makes it clear from the beginning that he doesn't want to get involved in Andi's personal life even though she has made every effort to tell him her secret. Even when they start to develop feelings for each other and their relationship starts to more closely resemble that of a real marriage he still is hesitant to let her open up to him. That's why when he starts to snoop and follow her around it's kind of unbelievable. Andi has been more than willing to tell him where she is going, but he insists that it's none of his business. What this does is create tension and distance between them that could have been avoided if he had just listened to her. This type of thing happens a couple times and since he is only seeing a small part of what is going on he reads things into the situation that are untrue and this pulls them apart.

So, as far as plot goes, this is about all I can say without spoiling anything. I know, it's so hard, but it's really a good story, I promise! This is a wonderful, clean romance. It had me in tears on more than one occasion. I loved Zach, Andi and most especially Nick. This is one of those books that you can't help but fall in love with the characters because of who they are. I have read all of Taylor's books and this is probably one of my favorites. I can't wait to see what she comes up with next!

I loved For Nick! If you had a chance to read Joshua's Folly, then you know that Taylor had strayed from her signature style, but in For Nick the suspense is back! This book had me hooked from the first page. It was a definite page-turner, and for those who get emotional and cry while reading, this one is likely to be a tear-jerker for you.

The story begins with Andie in Zach's office applying for a job she desperately needs. What is offered to her in that office isn't quite what she was expecting, but I will say no more about it - you have to read it to find out what happens. And then there is the matter of Nick. Who is Nick, you ask? Well, again, I can't say. It would ruin the whole book for you. I actually had my own theory of who Nick was, as you will too when you read it, and I was close, but when Nick is revealed the whole situation still broke my heart.

crying gif photo: Crying leavebritneyalone.gif

This book can be incredibly sad, so don't go into it thinking you are reading a "light and fluffy" book. That's not the case at all with For Nick. But it's not all sadness. There is a silver lining. You just have to get through some pretty heavy emotional stuff to get there. It has an ending that feels exactly right.

Well, as with most of Taylor Dean's books that is really all I can say about it without accidentally writing any spoilers, so go on and read it yourself! You won't regret it! And if you enjoy it (which you will) make sure to check out her other books, especially I Have People and she also has a blog here.

I have always been a sucker for a story about a marriage of convenience. So when this popped up on my Amazon recommendations and I read all the amazing reviews (see how important they are to an author ), I bought this baby, and delved into it.
I can’t really say much about this book without giving away the plot. This book has some great romance. I fell in love along with Andie. Zach is a great hero, who swept Andie off of her feet. Andie has lived through hell, and agrees to this crazy plan to help Nick.
But who is Nick, and what will this secret do to their frail connection?
I loved the intrigue in this book. I kept reading way too late at night trying to figure out what would happen, and how this would end in a happily ever after.
This book took me on a roller-coaster of emotions. I was happy, I was sad, I even cried whilst reading this. And I have gone back and read this one several times again. If anyone ever asks me for a book that gives you that great heart-wrenching emotions and utter romance bliss; this is probably the first one that would come to mind, and then I read Taylor’s other books. Now I just recommend her as an author, so you should pick which ever book description tickles your fancy.

This book hooked me from its small blurb: Andie was so in love that she would do anything for Nick, even marry a total stranger. What? I couldn’t see how this book would turn out, and that made it so fun to read—wondering all the while about Andie’s secret Nick, and how he would play out in this romance. Andie marries Zachary Drake, CEO of Drake Enterprises, for Nick. She would do anything for Nick (Nick is all she thinks about). Anyway, Andie’s and Zach’s relationship turns out to be amazing, much to their surprise.

Hang onto your emotions with this story, because they will be running all over the place. One minute you’ll be sighing with joy, the next your mascara will be running down your face. I adored both Andie and Zach. They are so funny and cute together, and their ongoing Alliteration game was right up my alley (love, love, love alliterations). This is my 5th Taylor Dean book, and it’s hard to pick a favorite...but this has to be in the top 2 for the surprises it held.
