Glen and Tyler are young, in love, and the wealthiest human beings on the planet. But when Glen's brother calls from a jail in Paris, they're off to France to tangle with spies, neo-Nazis, evil world-spanning conspiracies and French gangsters. Plus they have a romantic dinner, and find long-lost treasure. Really, it’s a fun-filled non-stop romp.
The author lives with a non-imaginary cat, and works in computer support (you know, the day job), all in Upstate New York. He divides his time between writing humorous suspense novels, reading science fiction and urban fantasy, absorbing too much British TV (or as his roommate would say "those crappy BBC mysteries"), pondering why he didn't write a scifi or fantasy novel, and his various hobbies. No, reading isn't a hobby. It's more like a vocation. The author also wonders how people get away with talking about themselves in the third person this way. It's awkward.

Fun, funny, witty, interesting...I just wish Glen had been more involved and front and center. I like these stories much more when the guys are a team. Tyler was running the show in this installment and, while it didn't lack for excitement, I wanted it to be more about their partnership.
Paris Double-cross also ends with the two about to start another adventure and I can hardly wait to see what shenanigans they get up to next.
These books are inordinately silly, but yet I always find myself enjoying them all the same. This time around Tyler and Glen are off to save Glen's brother whose been set up to take the fall in the theft of a bunch of art. Of course really it's all a ruse to get Tyler to show up and do what some rich old men want him to do. Not that things are ever going to go the way that evil plans, what with Tyler and Glen around to make sure nothing untoward happens.
These books are always such fun because you know that Tyler and Glen are going to fling stupid crazy money around and yet still have essentially a Robin Hood complex. They're always going to be on the side of good, and they're always going to triumph in amusing ways all set to make the bad guys look stupid. This story does not disappoint to those ends.
Glen & Tyler’s Paris Double-Cross By J.B. Sanders KDP Press, 2013 Four stars
This is such an amusing, madcap series. Two college hockey jocks who slipped into roommate status in their post-graduate years, both presumably straight, who, at just the right moment, discover the truth of their deep feelings for each other. The most bald-faced sort of “gay for you” set up that somehow works because of the youth and jock-innocence of both Glen Merriweather and Tyler Conrad. These are the kind of jock boys of whom I would have been leery in college; and yet in these books, I know that I would love them completely.
And then it really gets crazy. Tyler had to marry to claim his inheritance, which both he and Glen assumed might be a few million dollars. Two things happen when they marry: their first kiss at the altar hits Tyler like a thunderbolt. In the most Disney-magical way, that kiss pulls the lid off their passion for each other, carefully buried under a lifetime of social and gender expectations. The second thing is that Tyler’s nice “few million” turns out to be a global corporate empire accumulated by his amoral great-grandfather that exceeds thirty-six billion (with a b) dollars. A nasty corporate Puppet Master inadvertently turns over one of the largest fortunes in the world to his twenty-five-year-old bisexual grandson and his newly-married husband.
Hilarity, of a rather sinister kind, ensues.
This third chapter in the series takes Tyler (shorter, debonair, raised for wealth, but remarkably discreet about it) and Glen (tall, redheaded and athletic, in spite of which he is a serious medievalist who has just earned his PhD in Scotland) and pushes them even deeper into the Byzantine labyrinths of global power and money. But Glen and Tyler are good boys – Batman and Robin in the face of worldwide purveyors of greed and violence. As they begin to understand the depths of weirdness into which Tyler’s fortune has plunged them, they make it into a lark – albeit a life-and-death lark – through which to redefine the world’s perception of gay couples. They hold hands in public, and they get away with it.
The Paris double-cross of the title is the most complicated and messy (and, frankly, hard to follow) of the adventures so far. Just as Glen does, the reader has to simply let go, and trust that Tyler, raised for this, and (as we learn) specially trained as well, will rise to the occasion, bringing with his intelligence and style all of the courage and big-heartedness that his love for Glen inspires in him.
For that is at the core: these boys’ love for each other, which began as bromance and evolved into a passionate physical pairing that acts as a force-field, shielding them from all comers. They are the new millennial Theban Warriors. They are the super heroes that every gay teen needs; that every older gay man (such as myself) relishes. It is all a fantasy, but Sanders gives it the kind of simple, honest power that Lord of the Rings (and Harry Potter) had for two different generations of non-straight young readers.
These books are all about vengeance – but without violence and without cruelty. Even though published in 2013, this volume speaks directly to the global corporate and political selfishness that seems to be rocking our world in 2018. It reminds us of all the bad that wealth and the quest for it can engender; but it also reiterates the great truth that good can prevail, especially when fueled by selfless love for others.
I have read the first two books in this series and really enjoyed them. Everything I liked about them is even better in this third installment.
Glen and Tyler have been together for a few years now. It shows in that they are more confident in their relationship, making the scenes between them, as well as when separated, even stronger this time around.
Their humor also comes through in both subtle and guffaw-worthy ways. Yup, I guffawed more than once. And giggled. And definitely smiled.
The story is hyper-realistic like the ones that came before it, but it works for these characters and this writer's style. It's total escapism yet it feels earthy due to the relationships between all of the characters: friendships, lovers, family, trusted colleagues, all of them. I like that mix. It gives me the chance to escape and yet easily connect to these people and their surroundings, their conversations and difficulties.
The heat level is a bit higher in this one compared to the others, but again it's mostly off-page and isn't the focus of the story. The adventure, danger, humor and heroics are the stars of this show.
Due to some of the aspects of this story, it's a bit heavier in subject matter than Glen and Tyler have encountered before. This is never allowed to go so far as to overshadow the action movie type feel to the story, though. Again, an enjoyable mix.
This is one that definitely lands on my comfort food shelf, right along with the first two books in the series.
I hope Mr. Sanders continues to write more of Glen & Tyler's adventures. I will definitely be there to join in the fun. :D
This was one of the best narrations I've listened to in some time. Truly. Rollins had to do German, French and British accents. He had to speak some lines in French and German. He had a unique voice for each character, all of them different ages and nationalities, some humorous, some stoic, I loved them all.
It's not easy to keep all of those straight, let alone do it as a performance and maintain the tension, allow the humor to come through and vary the tenor, along with matching the tone to the intentions of the characters. I just loved it.
Sanders has wonderful humor in his stories and Rollins translates that audibly to near perfection. It's such a treat to hear Glen and Tyler teasing each other. It's fun to hear them getting cute and passionate and taking care of business when it comes to helping those they love.
I highly recommend Brian Rollins and his narration. I just checked and he's done all three of the books in this series. I may have to pick those up, too! :D
I won this book through the Goodreads Giveaway!Hardcover book signed by the writer. I frankly didn't know what to expect from the Glen & Tyler series for "Super Spy but Gay" novels aren't exactly my cup of tea. I really loved the book. The humor, the plot, the characterization. Detailed review COMING SOON @ http://abibliophilesscroll.blogspot.in/
While I like the idea of "putting on a show" for Glen, being left in the dark about all the behind-the-scenes goodies wasn't as much fun for me. On the other hand, these two are so completely adorable together that I just can't keep myself from oooh-ing and squee-ing and awww-ing my way through the books. Glen & Tyler are in my all-time top ten favorite couples.
Fascinatingly enjoyable as the first two books. Glen & Tyler’s treasure hunt throughout Paris’ major landmarks vaguely reminds me of The Da Vinci Code minus the gruesome murders, with many more bad guys and also a ton more literary and TV/movie quotes. I doubt Glen realized what he was getting himself into when he first proposed to Tyler. I hope Glen has a more active role in book 4 though because in this volume, Tyler pretty much steals the whole show! (Along with Antoine and Rebecca)
My first foray into Glen and Tyler land and probably not my last. It was over the top and completely unbelievable but I liked it. A bit like a Boy's Own adventure except most of the action seemed to happen off page. It was hard not to wonder if Glen felt a bit like a spare tyre at times - kept in the dark and only bought out in emergencies but never left behind. 4 stars
G&T in Paris! Ou la la! There are two things that I absolutely adore about this book: 1. The restaurant scene where some old-school bad guys are just laid out by Tyler. 2. The chocolate! Thank you J.B. for yet another fabulous trip through the world of G&T. I'll be back for more!!
More world saving capers from Glen and Tyler. I enjoy these ott tales as the writing is clean, fast paced and engages. 3.5* Glen and Tyler continue growing their allies whilst on a treasure hunt through Paris. I enjoyed the double twists that Tyler has laid down though Glen was very sanguine about being left in the dark most of the time - definitely Tyler's show, this one. Good clean rollicking fun.
I'm furious! Stupid goodreads bastards ate my perfect review of this book. Now I have to recreate!
Help! I'm going through Glen & Tyler Withdrawal! I need more Glen & Tyler! I wish the next book was written already - I LOVE the cover :D
Glen & Tyler are still in Scotland when they receive a frantic call from Glen's younger brother Lance in Paris. He's been arrested on a trumped up false charge of art theft. Of course Glen & Tyler rush to Paris to help Lance, but they do suspect it's just a ploy to get them there.
While they are trying to to get Lance out of jail, they are also trying to solve a much bigger puzzle. It turns out that the bad grandfather has once again set something in motion that Tyler is going to have to fix. There a lots of bad guys in this one - each group worse than the last. Luckily Tyler's run-ins with the bad guys from the previous books has given him some street cred ;)
As they try to solve they puzzle, they are able to user Glen's knowledge of Medieval history. There are visits to Paris landmarks like the Louvre, the Eiffel Tower, and Notre Dame. There are bored cops, homophobic jerks, a seductive tango (lots of dancing in this one) and a hot French boyfriend for Lance. And there's a Sargent! I love Paris and it's fun too see it through these guys' eyes!
Glen & Tyler and their usual cast of security guys (plus some new ones) race to solve the mystery. Tyler has been working on this for some time and he's been working towards the big reveal for Glen. This is a bit like foreplay for them ;)
It's another entertaining and fast paced romp through one of the world's great cities. These guys are fun and adorable and hilarious. I can't wait to read about their next adventure. We get a peak at the end of the story as to who they will be helping next and it's a doozy.
Get these books! The are funny and sweet without being sappy and have some surprises that will keep you reading to see what happens next. Really a breath of fresh air.
These boys are just too much. There isn't a single sex scene in any of the books but I love their chemistry. They're best friends and lovers.
Glen and Tyler are in my top 5 favorite m/m series couple. The book was crazy and predictable but the point was to enjoy the ride that Tyler cooked up, and like Glen, I did.
J.B. Sanders leads the example that you don't need constant sex in a m/m to make a story interesting.
I love Glen & Tyler. As expected, once I started this book I couldn't stop. The boys are as delightful, clever & charming as ever, and it's a great romp in Paris.
Seriously more people need to be reading these books. Probably the best indie series I've read.
This series is one of is one of those exceptions. Things that would normally drive me nuts in another series, somehow work here. Every book has been incredibly OTT, with little to no realism, but I just don't care. It works. It's a fun read.
I like that Tyler and Glen have been together for a while this book. I would say they are more solid...but really, they were never rocky. They just seem more in tune with each other than ever. Glen was completely chill about being left in the dark about Tyler's plans. I thought it was funny that Glen was able to work out steps in moments, that took Tyler's team months to figure out.
Tyler takes a special glee in riling up peoples tail feathers. It's pretty funny, but without Glen at his side, I could see him taking a walk on the dark side.
They are perfect together. No one is that perfect together. I'd like to see them get into an argument sometime. Even if it's just for leaving a towel on the floor.
This book follows the same formula as the others in the over the top wackiness. I didn't expect anything less. This time the duo find themselves in the middle of a huge conspiracy of ultra-wealthy elite conservatives and some nazi's thrown in for some added fun. Glen in out of the loop so Tyler can show off how great he is but Glen still gets to use his brain to solve the puzzle clues that lead to a nazi treasure. This book outdoes the rest in unbelievably points but still doesn't lose any of its charm and humor. I have a feeling eventually this line of story will get boring but right now it is just a fun ride.
OoooLaLa Coitus interuptus, conspiracies, and cabals...oh my! The guys take Paris by storm to save one of their own. New characters are introduced, old characters are fleshed out, and secret plans are hatched and plots foiled. Depending on whose side you're on a great time is had by all most especially the readers. Mr Sanders continues to be a favorite of mine and his characters are pure gold.
Every book has been incredibly OTT, with little to no realism, but I just don't care. It works. It's a fun, brilliant read.
This one was as exciting as the previous two and I can't get enough of Glen and Tyler. I love how selfless they are with their money, and at the same time, they throw it in people's faces. As expected, once I started this book I couldn't stop. The boys are as delightful, clever & charming as ever, and it's a great romp in Paris.
In this third installment of Glen & Tyler, the boys head to Paris when Glen receive a call from his brother, Lance, that he’s been arrested. Lance being framed for art theft is just the tip of the iceberg when Glen and Tyler are once again thrust into conspiracies and plots of their demise. Fortunately for them, Tyler has just the plan to beat their new enemies. With neo-nazies and French gangsters nipping at their heels, can Glen and Tyler still manage to enjoy a little romance in the City of Love?
This addition to the Glen and Tyler adventures is by far my favorite. Glen is still his amazingly hot self (redheads, how can you NOT love them?!) and Tyler is still out to impress Glen in anyway he can. At this point, they’ve been married for a few years now but still seem to hold their ‘just married’ bliss because at the heart of their relationship is a true friendship. I love that about them and the fact that they can banter at the most inconvenient of times. However, for them, it’s a way to relieve stressful situations. Still, as a couple they fit well because they know just what they should do when the other is reaching their breaking point. I love these boys but I also liked that this book showed more of an attempt at romance. In previous books, I felt the connection between them but didn’t see it as much as I would have liked (beyond their flirting but they flirt with everyone) so it was nice to see Tyler actually making an effort to woo Glen in Paris. They’re so sweet together but also very funny so it was great to see little pockets of them enjoying their time together in Paris.
My biggest problem in previous books was that the stories were always chaotic and all over the place. Thankfully, this book felt more organized and on track of what problem they’re forced into. There were a few parts that still confused me but they weren’t as numerous as in the first two books. Beyond that, my only big issue was that I felt uncomfortable with the ‘seduction’ in this book. I’m well aware that Tyler and Glen are bi-sexual and I’ve accepted that because they’re very much in love… but, in this book, I was uncomfortably aware of the fact that it is very possible for them to cheat because of how close Tyler actually came to doing so. I loved that there was more romance in this one but there also felt like more attention towards identifying gorgeous and attractive men and women. This is just a personal preference but even when characters are so in love, I don’t want to be told whenever a beautiful man or woman walks by and because of Tyler letting himself get dangerously close to being seduced, I now can’t get out of my head that if Tyler can get ‘almost’ seduced now, what’s to stop him from actually being seduced later when Glen isn’t around? After all, if Tyler hadn’t have seen Glen right when he did, he would have gone all for the lovely flesh that was so tempting without any hesitation.
In the end, though, I still love Tyler and Glen. This novel was still the fun, fast-paced story of how the two of them best their enemies and it was much easier to follow along. I’m looking forward to reading more of them in future stories, although I really do hope their attentiveness towards others’ attractiveness lessens because I’d rather not be reminded of that… but as I said, that’s just a personal preference ;)
Ridiculous over the top bonkers action movie shut off your brain and just enjoy the ride book. It's the best! LOL. It's just fun to read this series. Because it doesn't take itself seriously, you don't take it seriously. Glen & Tyler are still richer than rich and more in love than ever. I was a little bored with the mystery but that's part of me needing to just go with the flow and not expect reality.
This series has always been a giant outrageous wish fulfillment fantasy: a marriage of convenience that transforms with one kiss into a deep and abiding romance; the unexpected bequeathal of a preposterously large fortune; the satisfying comeuppance of various and assorted homophobes; the unveiling of an amiable frat boy as a master strategist of beyond Machiavellian proportions. The reader has to simply accept the unbelievability of it all and enjoy the ride. In that respect, the Glen & Tyler series is not unlike Geoffrey Knight's Fathoms Five. One is Nick and Nora writ large (and gay), the other Indiana Jones (fivefold and super gay), and both series owe a significant debt of gratitude to James Bond.
So far, so good, but this outing to Paris has for the first time left me with a bit of a sour aftertaste. Glen has usually taken a secondary role in the proceedings, but Sanders has always made it clear that he is Tyler's moral anchor, the member of the couple who possesses the greater emotional intelligence and insight into human nature. "Scottish Troubles" even gave him a moment to leap into the leadership role when Tyler was abducted. Here, he has been downgraded to a Dr. Watson with benefits, his role sadly reduced to trailing along in his husband's wake and being appropriately awed by Tyler's uncanny abilities. Even his considerable achievement in untangling the treasure hunt set in their way by Tyler's grandfather is undercut by the revelation that someone else managed it first.
And then there is the sudden insistence that the happy couple is not the type to spend their billions needlessly or excessively. Since in the course of three novels we have already seen them spend the GDP of several small nations on everything from clothes to airships to NHL teams to entire islands, that's a bit of a hard pill to swallow.
The persistent spelling errors are also starting to wear thin: the story is peppered with its/it's and led/lead confusion, as well as scrambled homophones like shone/shown and proceed/precede. I am used to allowing a certain amount of lenience to self-published authors, but how hard is it really to find a proofreader?
But enough complaining: Sanders has created a sweet pair of main characters who are head-over-heels in love with one another and determined to put their phenomenal good luck and resources to work toward creating a better world. What's more, they're a hot, talented, intelligent, and best of all, thoroughly decent gay couple. We can always use more of those, in fiction and in life.
This series was so freaking good that I read the first 3 in a day.
This one takes place in Paris where Lance (Glen's wee brother) is arrested for stealing 4 paintings of serious value. This one has the feel of 'The Davinci Code' in all the best ways! And I think this one is my favourite since the plot is more 'complex' and the outrageous-ness of Glen and Tyler is turned up in the best possible way.
Glen and Tyler rushes to Lance's rescue (heh, the discussion about train versus planes (as a European) was FUN), and find out that not everything is as it seems. With their wealth and their cunning they end up in a breathless race to figure out Tyler's grandfather's heritage and to save Lance. There are neo-nazis, evil conservative idiots trying to take over the world and a puzzle worthy of Dan Brown. I LOVED it! This one also had a feel of Indiana Jones, which was just awesome! As the other books in this series, this book also pays homage to James Bond/Batman/Deadpool with a twist of MM!
It is hard to review the books without giving away plot-points and spoilers since everything is linked in one way or another. Also these books are FILLED with plot. There is no 'talking for 20 pages about feelings or will-they-or-won't-they'. These books are all action and fun and LOVE. UGH, I've already complained about the lack of smexy-times in the other reviews, but let me just say this one more time; if there were just 2 great sex-scenes in each book, they would have been DEFINITE 5-star reads for me AND all-time-favourites. The love and TRUST Glen and Tyler have for each other, would have been perfect if we had also seen the PASSION.
I shouldn't enjoy this series. The stories are over the top. Most messes they get themselves into are resolved almost immediately be Tyler's brains and money. There is barely any conflict because Tyler never even bats an eyelash. In this book, the long surprise Tyler had been working on before and during the book happened to fit with what they needed all of a sudden. The GFY is still a bit awkward to me since I keep remembering how completely heterosexual they were and now they're completely in love and lust while recalling on occasion how they were before. And they spend so much while still making no dent in their reserves that I can't suspend my disbelief.
But the worst thing is that for most of the book, Glen wasn't at all useful while Tyler rescued them several times. It's like Glen was Watson or Robin. The one time Glen's intelligence and knowledge was really useful, . Fortunately, Glen still came across as a genius. This thing with Tyler doing everything was even alluded to, although they did at one point refer to one another as Batman. At the end, at least, it was finally talked about as not the norm and not great so hopefully the next book won't be as bad.
So I don't know why I enjoy these so much. Perhaps the campy over-the-top-ness appeals to me. Maybe it's nice to have powerful and wealthy gay men be both nice and ruthless when required, smarter than everyone else, and always coming out on top. It's nice that they are both openly bisexual but monogamous. It was also refreshingly normal to have these guys noticing a hot woman and joking to each other about her. My gay friends do it all the time about other men. They don't get jealous, just turned on.
It's a little confusing why I love this series but I do.
Not quite as fun as #2. I agree with Glen that having Tyler keep everything to himself for the whole book was less fun this time. Still thoroughly entertaining.
Also, given the current US political situation, some of the events and comments were totally eerie. (One of them says, about the insane fascists trying to take over governments, that "despite how bad things have gotten, no one will tolerate this kind of nonsense ever again." If only that were true...)
Some Favorite Quotes: "Tyler, I still get weak-kneed seeing you unexpectedly across a room. No one is hotter than you."
"That's it: I trust you. Full stop. No qualifications, no conditions. I trust you utterly and completely. I have to, you have my heart."
"When a government gives you false passports, they're not really false anymore."
I love reading about Glen and Tyler's adventures. The books literally are extensions of each other and they are adding on to their entourage with each book. I feel like I need to take notes so that I can be all, ok, that's who that guy is or who that girl is. :)
Definitely continuing on! I love when Glen and Tyler explain what had went down. That's the best part, LOL.
Glen & Tyler have turned into a comfort read for me. I really enjoy the romance and the banter. They are just so perfect together. The way that they know each other inside and out makes the romantic moments so sigh worthy.
I commented elsewhere that these books read like James Bond novels. Truly. I have never seen characters get into so much trouble. And the things that Tyler can pull off are great fun.
I look forward to reading more of their adventures.
I loved this one! I wish this series will go on forever:) This one was as exciting as the previous two and I can't get enough of Glen and Tyler. I love how selfless they are with their money, and at the same time, they throw it in people's faces. My favorite parts are when someone tells them they can't do/have something and Tyler says, "Oh yeah? Well you're wrong and I can do whatever I want!", or something along those lines... I love it:)
