Gideon is the lead commander over the Lord's army of heavenly warriors. His skills and kills are legendary across the heavens. However his heart is starting to grow cold toward the Lord and everyone else, so the Lord reassigns Gideon to a guardianship over a little girl named Charlotte. (Much to Gideon's dismay!) Gideon immediately nicknames Charlotte, Charlie and proceeds with being her "Official" guardian. Gideon breaks every guardian rule there is and does things his own way for sure. But as he watches Charlie grow will the heart of the battle worn warrior learn how to love again??
I thoroughly loved this book. If you are reading this expecting another angel fallen from grace or in some continual fighting like "This Present Darkness" then you are looking at the wrong book. This is the story of a strong warrior angel assigned to be the guardian angel for a little baby. This shakes up his whole "life" but he does as directed and becomes part of the family with Sabrina and Charlie.
It's a story about having faith and trusting God through all of life's problems. It's about depending on God's strength to get you through the bad times as well as the good. It teaches you to talk to God as if he was your friend and you could sit next to Him and tell Him everything that worries you.
The only part I didn't like was coming to the end and wanting to read the rest of the series tonight even if it meant I would get no sleep at all.
Gideon is my kind of guardian. I loved this book. Gideon is a warrior angel that God has reassigned to be a guardian to little Charlie. When asked why, Gideon is told because Charlie grows up to save someone God is very fond of. This doesn't answer Gideon's question because he believes God is fond of everyone. I believe I know the answer although the author doesn't reveal it in this book. I'm hoping the next one will but if not it's ok because I've gotten rather attached to Gideon.
This book stretches the limits of imagination. I mean that in a good way. Mary May takes us on a ride into the supernatural realms that creates in you a sense of wonder and awe. I loved the characters and the relationships that were molded as the story went on. The peeks of what was going on in the spiritual world were exciting and made me wonder if somehow Mary May had gotten a look at a place we all wonder about.
The only thing I think the story lacked was the returning presence of an antagonist. I kept waiting for one of the characters to turn up as a nasty villain. This can be forgiven however, as the main themes of the book seem to be redemption and relationships, and that is where the story excels.
All in all this is a great story featuring a varied cast of characters that speak to the heart. I would recommend this book to anyone who wonders about spiritual realms.
I absolutely loved this wonderful story! At the 90 page Mark, true, I was afraid to read on, afraid of what was going to happen, but all was okay. And even though I absolutely despise having to purchase another book to find out what happens next in the story, I enjoyed Saving Gideon enough that it was okay this time. And to give credit to the author, this story could not be told well by rushing it.
I had gotten this book a while back I have no idea why I didn't read it then. Totally kicking myself for that tho. I truly loved this story it's almost how I always reasoned things in my head to be Some have normal Guardian Angels. But others of us has Warrior Angels. I feel for Gideon, at the ending. Can't wait to see what happens with legion highly recommend
I liked this book up until the end. I felt that the author could have carried the story farther. Gideon was a warrior Angel given the assignment of guardian angel by God. He could not understand why but accepted his assignment. The book had humor and serious Christian education.
This book is filled with touching moments to tug at your heart strings along with laugh out loud moments to tickle your funny bone. Interwoven throughout the book is the unmistakable message of Gods love....
I am not a fiction reader, This one caught my attention because of the cover. I was surprised to find so much truth of the Gospel in fiction form. I believe it portrays the life of a believer in a naturally supernatural way. Where heaven and earth collide in the the life of all people.
While this book isn't action packed, it isnt meant to be. It does offer spiritual guidance in dealing with life's adversity while still entertaining the reader. Now for book number 2...!
