Taking a deep breath, he plasters a smile on his face, and began to reinvent himself. He began to tell his lie. Sixteen-year-old Ben Walker wants nothing more than to live a different life. A life filled with normal, a mom and a dad; a group of popular friends; and a starting spot on a winning basketball team. What he doesn’t want is the life he’s currently living. The life that contains a cripple mother and a father he’s never met. He’s tired of being different, so when he’s assigned to work in the Special Ed class at his school, he lashes out in the most unforgivable way possible, sending his life and the life of those around him into a tail spin. It’s only when he moves in with his long absent father and starts serving community at an assistant living home that he finally starts to see that no one has a perfect life and that what he had with his mother was closer to perfect than anyone usually gets.

Her entire life Grace has had to fight against societies ideas of what she can and can’t do, and for the most part she’s succeeded. She’s built a thriving business and raised a headstrong, talent young man. But even the most successful lives can’t block out the reality of the world outside and when her son gets in trouble at school she starts to question if she even had a right to try. Now Grace has to rebuild her shattered life; she needs to heal and move on. So when Grace finds out in an all too familiar situation, she has to decide if this time she can make it different, if this time she can make a life for herself that doesn’t end up in heartbreak.
