Sterek
“Three weeks,” Derek says.

“Still don’t want to,” Stiles says.

“I’ll pay you,” Derek says, and that… that has Stiles interested. Alf’s Antique’s may be a great job, but it’s not a high-paying job, and half of Stiles’s tuition is coming from financial aid, so…

“How much,” Stiles asks, “are we talking here? Because I know your family, dude. And it’ll be kind of awkward after.“

“My family thinks you’re some sort of fucking gift to the world,” Derek seethes, like he’s jealous, “they’ll probably be pissed at me when we break it off, so don’t worry about that. Five hundred bucks.”

“A thousand,” Stiles says, because screw ethics. Also, the Hale family is loaded. Derek can deal.

I love the fake boyfriend trope. Add some magic and lots of snarky banter and you get a great read.

Derek only wants Laura off his back, and he thinks the best way to do that is to lie about having someone special. Silly Derek. Of course this backfires. Laura plans to visit and he has no other recourse than to ask Stiles to be his fake boyfriend because who else is a possible candidate that knows about werewolves? No one.

These two don’t exactly hate each other. They’re more than just acquaintances, but they are going to really have to work at being convincing. Ensue touching, scenting, learning all the facts, and fake dates to get picture proof - in and amongst a lot of snark and pushing each other’s buttons.

The premise is ridiculous and this was quite verbose, but this is still Sterek and for some reason they can make any trope and situation work. Throw in some requisite awkwardness, embarrassment, guilt, and obliviousness - all with resulting feels and revelations, wrapped up in magic and a good amount of smexy!

Simply an enjoyable addition to one’s Sterek library!

I loved this fic so much.
And I didn't even really like Laura.

Here's why: because Laura feels like the kind of person that I wouldn't be able to stand irl, and she gets to me because she's realistic and a fantastically well drawn character.
Just like every other character in this fic, starting with Stiles and Derek and including Scott.
(Derek feels just like a version of the TW sourwolf that actually talks. It's brilliant. And there are lines about Stiles taken straight from Derek's brain like For the past seven years, he's just been this constant buzzing in the periphery. Always there with a sarcastic comment or a fucking joke made at Derek's expense, treating Derek like he's younger one that kinda blow my mind with how accurate they are, and you'll notice that if you've watched the show.)

Both the writing and the relationship development are smooth and sexy, and there is zero unnecessary drama and a lot of insightful observations, Stiles-typical humor, and touching and sniffing.

It's like a vaguely delirious rom-com with werewolves and Wiccan magic and theses and soundproof rooms. And I don't even like rom-coms, but this is the bomb.

ANOTHER NICE STEREK FANFIC.

The first 70% of the book for me were funny, hilarious, entertaining and very engaging. Stiles and Derek trying to do the fake boyfriend thing was just so hilarious. Normally when I stumble upon this kind of theme, the fake boyfriend thing, I find it cheesy and ridiculous. I mean, does someone do that in real life? But zosofi's take on it was a little refreshing. And I totally enjoyed it.

Until the last 30% came. It's not bad actually, but it's kinda dull. Their revelation, the climax, the final love scenes weren't as romantic, spectacular, or gratifying as I hope it would be. I needed more from what I got. It's still quite entertaining though. But I struggled a little to finish it. I was falling asleep on some parts.

Overall, this is another entertaining and adorable Sterek fanfic.
A healthy dose for all Sterek addicts like me out there. We don't have a rehab, so...let's just indulge ourselves with them. XD

ENJOY!

It's time to read about teenage boys getting it on again and kind of getting off on it, possibly. Wack. Whatever, I'm comfortable in my creepiness.

2.5 With a trope like this, you can't go wrong. And yet I didn't enjoy this fic as much as I'd hoped I would. It's true that Zosofi is not a bad writer at all, but the problems I encountered in this fic were piling up. One of them mostly the common beginner mistake of a starting writer, but one that she makes with so much enthusiasm, that overlooking it was not really an option.

Of course I'm talking about the characters being unable to simply say or state something. Instead, they snarl out every bloody sentence. They glare, wince, snarl some more..and then just..more. Every teasing comment, or just any comment really, unleashes their fury. There are mentions of Derek's face cringing up so bad that it almost collapses into itself. It's all so completely over the top that it feels like watching a mime play unfold rather than reading a story. It makes for tedious reading. Though It gets slightly better along the way, when they're warming up to each other.

The supposed ages of Derek (27) and Stiles (23) didn't ring true either. Their personalities and behavior screamed young teenagers. I suspect the writer herself is young still, which is okay, but it would've been a better idea to knock a few years off the age of her MCs accordingly. It would've made the plot of Derek going through all that trouble to fake a relationship for his sister perhaps somewhat more plausible too. Which 27 year old guy would give so many fucks about what his sister thinks of his one-night stands?

Add to that the fact that the story dragged, the same jokes were repeatedly played out, and elements that IMHO absolutely didn't belong in the story in the first place, were added, and this one was a miss for me. That's okay. I think this writer has it in her to become much better in time and with constructive feedback.

Ridiculously well-written, with a seriously chill pacing that you really only find in fanfiction. Considering that this is AU, the entire premise is as perfect a set-up as you could find for evoking the Platonic ideal of "Sterek"--in other words, it's funny, sexy, and gets at the heart of the chemistry behind that delicious antagonism of theirs.

Bottom line: Must Read for Sterek lovers.

Reread Feb 20 2018--rating and sentiment unchanged. The magic was pretty cool.

<<>>--<<>>--<<>>--<<>>--<<>>--<<>>

Post-graduate Sterek offering where an item Stiles runs across cause all kinds of changes in his life. Sweet and adorable, where Derek is all bark and no bite--okay, maybe a little biting.

3.5 Stars

God, that had been the most idiotic of all idiotic plans.

So really, all of this is Derek's fault, and he should make it up to Stiles in a multitude of creative ways.

I liked the story and all that but I needed just a bit less snark and a little more sweet, especially, you know, when they should have been sweet :) I just didn't feel their voices in this one.

This started off so great and carried well for about a little more than halfway and I so wanted it to work, but then I am not really sure what happened - it just became well, weird. Despite always hating the Laura character in these stories, this one had potential. For the first half of the story the dynamic between Stiles and Derek was pretty spot on in their "reluctant allies" banter. Then all of a sudden there was this weird Wiccan twist to the story that popped up as soon as the two finally got together (and honestly that's where the story should have stopped), but it kept going and going and became silly. I think it was supposed to be comical, but after this great tension build up and amusing first half, the new twist really didn't fit.

One of the better sterek fanfics I've read in a long time though a bit long for my tastes.

Having had a good rich run of Sterek this was my first disappointment.
The fake boyfriend premise, has been done to death, but I was hoping for some sarky, witty banter as well. I got some, but it felt a little off, like trying too hard.

The characters felt slightly 'off' and adolescent, which bearing in mind Derek was 27 made it a little weird, plus there was no real reason for the fakery.

However, the build up was good, and Laura was terrific.

I may, one day, watch an episode of this !

Another solid Sterek read. Well written, snarky to the max, well crafted AU and plot. And really hot Sterek action. I have been watching Teen Wolf, but I have to say that I think the fanfic, particularly the Sterek fanfic, is far more awesome than the actual show. Who cares about Scott and his problems? He's kind of annoying. But Derek (yum). And Stiles, oh Stiles! *Sigh*

Enough said?

I feared, at first, this might get at best 3 stars from me. But it got better along the way and moved to 4 stars by the end of it.

The animosity and tension and name calling and bickering got irritating after the first few dozen pages in the book. It was hard to picture Stiles and Derek having any feelings for each other when these feelings were barely hinted at, and even then, they were lost in the maelstrom of insults thrown between the two. It felt like I needed a faniction for this fanfiction, just to get their real feelings on the surface.

Nice!

This had endless potential but it just didn't blow me away.

It was tedious... I skimmed, I huffed, I practically fell asleep towards the end.

Too much thrown into the mix but then all Sterek fics have to live up to my reigning Queen: RemainNameless...

A 'fake boyfriends' trope story with Stiles and Derek from teen wolf. It's well done and sexy. I particularly like the 'magic wolves' and levitation sub-plot. A fun read and it's free fiction. Thanks to the author.

I like the whole magical object part but never really got into the fake boyfriend thing. It just rarely works for me. I thought they were adorable together but could have used a bit less of the obnoxious, snarky, shit-talking between them.

A Teen Wolf, Stiles & Derek fanfic.

How the hell didn’t I know about this fic until now?!

It has all the things I love and it’s basically an 84k fic about Stiles and Derek pretending to be in a relationship, which just happens to be one of my favorite Sterek fetishes. Yes people, we’re talking ‘fetish-level’ love here.

So what I’m saying here is that it just pretty much rocked my world, ok?

It was funny, sweet, Stiles being his sarcastic self, Derek trying to be his sarcastic self (which is just the best ever!). We have the two idiots pretending, and then realizing it might not be so much pretending anymore, but instead of talking it out, like normal people do, they wait till they get ‘shipped’ together by the Sterek fandom some magic wolves.

Oh, you’re intrigued now, aren’t you? I would be too if I were you…

Re-read of first 50%: bullying your traumatized brother with supposedly good intentions is still bullying. And kind of horrific. Also, Stiles and Derek have way too much animosity between them to make the first half enjoyable.

Sterek. Wow. I've read a lot of good ones but this one is way up near the top for me.

Really well done on showing how two kind-of friends became lovers. For me this was a HEA.

This was a good story. This is a Sterek fanfiction story. For those of you that don't know...Sterek fanfic is based off 2 male characters, Stiles and Derek, from the TV show Teen Wolf. In the show they're both heterosexual but some viewers have fantasized about them together in a m/m relationship and thus Sterek was born. This story doesn't take place in the TV show world but there is paranormal in the story. Derek and his family are still werewolves and Kate attempted to kill Derek's family but didn't succeed (although Derek is still rather untrusting of new love interests because of her actions). Scott got turned into a werewolf (but not by Peter) and pretty much all the TV show adventures didn't happen. Outside of the werewolf thing, Scott and Stiles had a pretty normal high school life and are both 23 years old in college now (Scott's in vet school and Stiles is getting his masters). Derek is getting his doctorate and lives an apartment downstairs from Scott and Stiles. Scott and Stiles and kind of frenemies with Derek...they deal with him because he's another werewolf but they never bonded with him like in the TV shows and find him annoying overall.

When the story begins, Stiles is at his part time job in an antique store. Derek walks in and is in desperate need of help because Laura is coming to town. Because of the whole Kate situation, Derek doubts himself and basically just does one night stands because he doesn't trust any new love interest. Laura has been on his case and wants him to date so a couple months ago he told Laura he was dating someone and now she's making a surprise visit to town and expects to meet Derek's new love interest. The thing about this story is that both Stiles and Derek are portrayed as typical douchebag guys that take more pride out of causing trouble for each other than being willing to help. Stiles pretty much laughs over Derek's issues and has fun over Derek's misery, finally only agreeing to help him for a lot of money (and even then still planning to make Derek's life miserable). The resulting story line isn't exactly what I expected (in a good way) and there are some additional plot twists in the story that add to situation and make things more complex. The budding relationship between Derek and Stiles was interesting but they were both very immature in the story and couldn't seem to deal with their feelings for each other without adding in some insults to balance things out. Things did turn out well though and Derek and Stiles end the story pretty solidly together.

This was an enjoyable story. I liked the story and the additions that made it more than just a "fake boyfriend" story. I had a lot of trouble rating this (it almost got 4 stars) and I think a good portion of that was due to my mixed feelings about the portrayal of Derek and Stiles...it was an interesting concept and brought about some humorous parts in the story, but overall I just didn't like seeing them act like douchebags (especially towards each other). It wasn't overbearing (they seemed to vacillate between being funny and being douches) but it was a bit of a detraction for me. Also, there wasn't much indicating when there was a change in PoV (which caused a bit of confusion) so if you decide to try this you'll want to watch for that. Although I did have some complaints, I still did like the story overall. :)

This had a few problems. The MCs were supposedly around 27 years old but their personalities and the dialog made them sound and feel like they were teenagers. There is also a lot of heavy backstory, I'm guessing from another book somewhere, that does nothing to make a normal reader understand what the hell it meant. I tended to skim over all of that.
