Leliel is one of the tainted; some call her unclean. But in this realm, she is just trying to fit in and get on with her life. It's just hard being of vampire and angel descent. Two sides fighting over one soul. Things are getting progressively worse as her Dark seems to be growing stronger along with her lack of control. Scared for her own safety and more so for those around her, she will do anything to have that part of her ripped out.
Gens, a species of old magic that specializes in genetic manipulation, may hold the key to the removal of her vampire side. But they are tricky and are never to be trusted.
Can the Angel who was sent to watch over Leliel manage to convince her to accept herself? Both the Light and the Dark are part of who she is. Can he prove to Leliel that she is not a monster and is worthy of being loved before it's too late?

I never know what to say when people ask about me, so here’s a few snippets of myself…

I never got to finish high school. And even though I value knowledge and would always encourage others to do so, I don’t think it’s necessary to write a book. After all, an imagination isn’t something that can be taught. Ask any artist.

I live quietly in Birmingham with my three cats and I wouldn’t have it any other way. Coffee and hot, candle lit baths are a must in my life as are the wonderful friends who always encourage me to keep writing, and whom I trust implicitly.

My main series of books are The Lake Dweller series and are ongoing. But I usually seem to have more than one project on the go at all times. I have a few stand-alone books that I’m working on as well as a short story series, so watch this space…

On a side note, I am a long time sufferer of Myalgic encephalomyelitis and sometimes I have trouble focusing. That being said, if I can still write stories, so can you. So what are you waiting for? Go write a book! Brighten someone’s life with your tales… If you only touch one person’s life with your story, your writing is worthwhile. Never forget that.

Thank you to everyone who has ever asked me about my books, took time to read any of them or have just wondered onto this page and are thinking about it. Thank you!

A Soul Crushing Read!

Leliel is YA book by Lessa Birch. Her other books include the Lake Dweller series. Be sure to check them out! WARNING. Leliel is a roller coaster ride. So buckle up! Stay seated and enjoy the ride!

Leliel is the first book of Lessa Birch's book I have read. Like all other books, it started slow. The author took her time explaining Leliel struggles with what she is. Half Vampire, half Angel. Which is what I loved about it. Sure I have to admit it was a bit boring, yet interesting at the same time. It helped me come closer to the character. To feel what she was feeling, battling the Dark side through her own eyes. My heart wrenched for her as her struggle was tormenting her soul. Then it happened. Her Dark side getting stronger. People are out to get her. Lies and danger suddenly erupt around Leliel. An an unexpected love blooms. I became enthralled with the book. It was very hard to put down after I read the first couple of chapters. The relationship between the Angel and Leliel is sweet, heartwarming and romantic. For those who love 'love stories' this is defiantly for you.

The only part of it I didn't like is why did the book have to end?? ***LOL*** I wanted to read more about Leliel and see what would happen in the next chapter of her life. I guess I would have to wait till the next book comes out.

Overall, I would highly recommend this book to all. But do not be discourage if you find yourself lost in the beginning like I almost had. Continuing reading because this is one soul crushing read!

I thought the beginning was a little slow and some of the sentence structure needs work but the book picked up toward the middle and had a good ending. Also, the author managed to add humor to the story which is a difficult thing to do. It takes a lot for me to giggle at something funny I read in a novel and I found myself doing that more than once here. Overall, not a bad read.
