Barkview Mysteries #6

Aussied to Death

A REMOTE ISLAND, A MURDER,
AND A HUSBAND IN CUFFS…

In author Wilson’s delectable new cozy, newly married Cat Wright finds herself honeymooning alone on a remote island while Russ, her shiny new husband, cools his heels in an Australian jail. Not the stuff dreams are made of. No sooner has the happy couple arrived on Canine Cay, by all reports the perfect honeymoon hideaway, than their pilot, an old buddy of Russ’s, is summarily whacked. Then Russ is arrested and whisked off to lockup on the mainland while Cat’s left to find the real killer herself.

A former reporter, she detects with her usual dogged determination, adorably assisted by Lizzie, the victim’s Australian shepherd and the most vivid of the series pooches so far. Cat has the eerie feeling Lizzie’s smarter than she is, but then lots of people think that about Aussies. The thing is, Lizzie perfectly understands English; and can also read Cat’s mind.
It’s not a Barkview mystery if the pup-du-jour doesn’t upstage the humans, and also if said humans aren’t busily engaged in chicanery—and often treasure hunts—involving priceless jewels. In this one, we get diamonds and pearls, the pearls being many, varied, and eminently desirable. (You may get a case of the covets.)

Of course Cat could solve this one by herself, but she feels down under in more ways than one each time a plane lands that isn’t carrying a newly-freed Russ. That is, until t he Barkview cavalry arrive s—meaning her quasi-uncle the police chief, her aunt the mayor, and Sandy, her own brilliant assistant. Now it’s a party!

Barkview fans will eat this one up like Australians eat vegemite, as will fans of Amy Vansant’s Pineapple Port series, Neil Plakcy’s Golden Retriever Mysteries, every breed of dog person, and cozy readers in search of a treat to go with their tea.

The award-winning author of the critically acclaimed Barkview Mysteries series, C.B. Wilson’s love of writing was spurred by an early childhood encounter with a Nancy Drew book where she precociously wrote what she felt was a better ending. After studying at the Gemology Institute of America, she developed a passion for researching lost, stolen and missing diamonds–the big kind. Her fascination with dogs and their passionate owners inspired Barkview, California, the dog friendliest city in America.

C.B. lives in Peoria, AZ with her husband. She is an avid pickleball player who enjoys traveling to play tournaments. She admits to chocoholic tendencies and laughing out loud at dog comics.

I received an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review . Newly married Cat and her husband Russ go vacationing on a remote island and just like always shenanigans abound . Russ is sent to jail due to being suspect in a murder. She gains a doggy companion this time an Australian Shepard to help her solve the case. Such a fun read, will she solve the case and get Russ out on jail you will have to read it to find out.

Following their whirlwind wedding, Cat and Russ are off for a magical honeymoon trip to Canine Cay, an island off the coast of Australia. Cat just can’t get away from dogs or trouble, and she encounters both in her latest adventure. On the final leg of their flight, the newlyweds meet Lugger T, a bush pilot, and Lizzie, an Australian shepherd; and both will play a prominent role in the story. When Russ is arrested for murder, Cat will need all her skills, her friends, both old and new, human and canine, and possibly the bark of the great dingo spirit to find the truth and free her man. The author incorporates a fascinating bit of history in the mystery, fact and fiction, and this element enhanced my enjoyment of a series I have come to love. The characters are well drawn and there are plenty of humorous moments as well as breathtaking danger for headstrong, determined Cat. Head down to Canine Cay with the honeymooners and enjoy the newest book in one of my very favorite animal cozy series, a perfect vacation read. This is my honest opinion of an ARC I received from the author.

AUSSIED TO DEATH, the sixth installment in the Barkview Mysteries series, takes readers outside the confines of the Barkview locale for an Australian honeymoon adventure, and it couldn’t be more enjoyable.

It’s a dream honeymoon—until it isn’t. When Cat Wright’s new husband is arrested for killing a friend and hauled off to jail on a different island, Cat is left behind to solve the murder and clear his name, all with the help of an amazingly intelligent and lovable Aussie with a huge dose of personality.

It is often difficult when a cozy series leaves the familiar setting and cast of characters behind, but this book manages the change with great success. The vivid descriptions made me feel as if I was actually there. The fast-paced plot kept me turning pages, anxious to see how the mystery unraveled. And it didn’t hurt at all that some of the Barkview cast showed up to help Cat with her search for a killer.

This cozy mystery has it all—a great mystery, tremendous characters, interesting subplots, and of course the best part of all, a dog we would all love to have as our own. I found it engrossing and highly entertaining. Can’t wait for book 7!

OMG, everywhere Cat goes bad things follow. Her and Russ's honeymoon in Canine Cay is no different. Who would have thought that there would be a mystery death to solve which would implicate Russ on their honeymoon... As Cat tries to solve the mystery with Lizzie the Australian Shepard, whose owner, Lugger was murdered, things do not turn out as she plans. Having to figure out a way to prove that Russ is innocent will require the support of Cat's family and some canine family members. As usual, C.B. Wilson has written a book that kept me glued to my kindle until I finished the whole story. Her books are full of adventure, wonderful canine characters, and a whole lot of laughter and love. I enjoy her writing, her stories, and her love of pets. I cannot wait to read her next book Dachshund to Death because I am positive it is going to be special!!
If you have never read one of C.B. Wilson's books, I truly believe you are missing out!

I received this book for free as an ARC and my review is my own!

Poor Cat. She can't even have a honeymoon (of course at Canine Cay, Australia's version of Barkview) without a murder getting in the way. This time it is a friend of new hubby Russ' named Lugger who meets his untimely demise and Russ is the prime suspect. Cat, with the help of Australian Shepherd Lizzie, starts the investigation to clear Russ. The gang from Barkview show up to help also. Cat desperately needs help with this tricky murder. Even her Mom and step-Dad pitch in to help. I received an ARC and I am voluntarily reviewing this funny cozy mystery. Looking forward to Cat's next adventure

I received this book free but this review is my own, honest opinion.
Aussied to Death is the second book that I've read in this series and it's becoming one of my favorite series.
Cat and Russ are off on their honeymoon to Canine Island. Their trip is interrupted when Russ is arrested for murder.
I love the characters in these books. They are wonderfully developed. The history and descriptions only and to the depth of the story without taking over. The mystery always keeps me guessing as the humor keeps me turning the pages.
I highly recommend Aussied to Death as well as this whole series to all cozy mystery readers.

What a honeymoon!

Russ provides Cat with a surprise honeymoon on a remote island off the coast of Australia. By all accounts the island is gorgeous until their pilot Russ' old friend is murdered. When Russ is found leaning over the body, what else could the police do but arrest him? Pearls and diamonds and an Australian Shepard that's smarter than she ought to be, and the cavalry in the form of her aunt, puedo uncle and Sandy. Can Cat and the gang find the guilty party before Cat becomes the next victim and get Russ out of jail? Such o good book!

I received an ARC. This is my honest review.

Cat and Russ Wright are young newlyweds honeymooning on a remote island of Canine Cay in Australia. Their bush pilot Lugger T is found dead and Russ is a suspect and is arrested. Cat is a former reporter at Barkview television station and with the help of Lugger T’s Australian shepherd Lizzie to help find Lugger T’s killer and clear Russ of the murder. Cat also enlisted the help of her Uncle G and her Aunt and Sandy Wynn, Cat’s computer savvy assistant and some canine friends from Barkview to help track down the killer. I really enjoyed this delightfully hilarious cozy mystery novel. I received this free e-book and am voluntarily leaving an honest review.

Wilson does it again! Another fun mystery in the barks! Errrr... I mean books.

Trouble finds Cat while on her honeymoon in the fictional Canine Cay in Australia. With her new husband framed for murder, Cat finds an investigation partner in the smart (and shedding) Australian Shepherd, Lizzie.

With missing diamond and pearls, oh my! Cat and Lizzie race around the island in search of the murderer, so she can get back to spending time with her husband, and before she becomes the next victim.
Clues are spread throughout the book, but who and why, will give you a gasping shock.

I really enjoyed this novel, fun to read and so descriptive of the area in which the story is told. Makes one feel like they are there with the characters. As always, I don't like to spoil anything, but Cat is off on another adventure and makes friends with a lovely dog...and there are murders. C.B. Wilson has done it again with her wonderful tales. I say this was a goodread.

The interrupted honeymoon

An interesting story on a beautiful island. When murder takes place on the Cay, Russ is framed and it's up to his wife to clear him. She's really good at solving crimes. Hopefully they can continue with their honeymoon.

who, why, diamond

Dogs are hidden Angels.. some good and some very bad but Angels at heart. Who else loves you more than themselves and puts up with you no matter how much you treat them poorly? There are times when even death won’t force a dog away from you. That’s true love.
