When the zombie invasion starts there isn't time to stop and think.
Amber and River Parker don't know how they're going to get out alive with their parents, little brother, or family friend.

Run is a sound piece of advice and something that Doctor Who has become quite famous for saying. In this case, Run has never been used in a better way than the title of this zombie epic from Charles Findlay.
The zombie genre is becoming more and more popular, as well as the survivalist element to life. The reality of zombies seems to be something that more people can get on board with than vampires and werewolves.
The plot of this book is slightly surprising as it is a lot more developed with much more effort and consideration having been put into it than quite a lot of zombie fiction. You get lulled into a false sense of security by the novel, Findlay letting you think that you are on solid ground and know what is going on before being completely thrown to port by the extremely clever twist that is woven into the story.
With two narrators you would think that this would get confusing, but that’s not so, the changing between the two eldest children of the Parker family helps to keep the pace of the novel moving at a good rate without losing anything from the story.
The characters well written, formed, and (aside from the zombies) are very easy to relate to. The story being shown through the eyes of those surviving against the zombie hoard gives an emotional insight into the narrators that is so often missed. He also takes the characters beyond the idea of merely just surviving in the zombie filled world but managing to see the human race get back on its feet again, not living as scavengers.
If you love zombie fiction or survivalists games like Left 4 Dead and Dead Rising, this book will make an excellent addition to your library and even if you just enjoy action and horror stories with a twist, this is a book you will enjoy and be begging for more at the end.

I found this to be an interesting read up to a point. A zombie outbreak occurs and a family is able to escape from a crowded zombie infested theme park. Of course it appears something/someone was helping them which may have just been their own unconscious or intuition warning them that something was up. The journey the family takes to get home and protect themselves was good and I would have given this books 4 stars if it wasn't for last section of the book. Yes, perhaps if I continue reading the series things will get explained but I'm not sure I'd buy into it.

This was my first zombie story—and I have to say I was pleasantly surprised. I didn’t realize that I would be into zombies after reading this book. It was action-packed from page one and I literally couldn’t put it down.
This book starts by smacking you in the face with a zombie apocalypse—the kind that you’re scared shitless over. Written in the perspective of different “survivors” you’re made to think that someone is going to be okay, and you feel like you can breathe a sigh of relief , when suddenly—you’re brought back to reality with a horrific scene!
I thought this book was completely awesome and should definitely be added to your summer reading list.
