A three star review. Is there anything worse to write?
I'll just try to explain everything.
Ok, this book is pretty short, so whatever I say will pretty much be a spoiler so I'll just stick to the basics.
1. The story
is about a guy who kidnaps a girl for ransom for two weeks.
That's it, if you know more, you'll spoiler yourself ;)
2. The characters
Colt is ruthless and doesn't care about the girls he's kidnapping.
Lily is a nice girl that doesn't deserve it.
3. The romance
Not insta-love in this case,
4. Flashbacks
There are flashbacks to both MC's pasts and it explains a lot and makes you feel sorry for them/love them.
5. Overall feel of the book
Well it's pretty darkish considering he keeps her locked and is pretty much terrible to her.
BUT!
The last 30% totally change with the feel of the book and it's my reason for lowering the rating.
6. The sex
Uber-hot. Seriously. Loved it, even though they are just TOO SHORT!
So please author, please, write longer sex scenes!!!!
7. What I liked in the book
Well I am not a big fan of dark reads and this is a bit darkish, not much though, but I was surprised that I really liked that part :)
I loved that the main guy was a jerk and the way he behaved toward the girl and everything!
The sex between them was uber hot, especially because he's so damn dominating and bossing her around and *sigh*
8. What I didn't like in the book
Well for starters, the sex, even though very hot, was extremely short, I blinked and the scene was over :(((( I am shallow enough to admit that this would get a bigger rating if only there were more/longer sex scenes between them ()
Anyway, this was a 4 star read for me until I got to the last 30%.
Why did I drop a star?
The feel of the book totally changed. It got too for me.
Now, I know this sounds strange coming from someone who loves , but in here I didn't, because I liked the dark feel of it and I wanted more if it I guess.
I guess the best was to explain it would be this:

9. Overall
The book is good and the writing is very good too, the characters were great, and the flashbacks helped to get into their heads and all.
The story/plot is very interesting too, plus the little sex scenes were hot, so with all of this I would've given it a 4 star rating :)
I explained why it's going to be a three, but that is just my personal mood that got off while reading it and I don't know how it would be for anyone else :((((

Safe Word is a fast-paced, intriguing and captivating story that kept me on the edge of my seat the entire time I was reading it. I had no idea what to expect when I started reading this story but it turned out to be a pleasant surprise and it definitley kept me intrigued and interested enough to finish it in less than a day. But, because of the lack of character development and the fact that the story felt a little "rushed" at times it turned out to be more of an "okay" read for me instead of a really great one.

Colton Bishop isn't exactly a good guy. At least on the outside he isn't. He kidnaps rich women for a living and keeps them hostage until their family or loved ones come up with a ransom. For months he's been doing his job without a glitch. He never physically hurts the women he holds locked in his apartment, but he never treats them very nicely either, but that's just to make sure they don't forget who's in charge. He's always been able to find easy victims, but then, on night, he meets Lily Hilton.
Lily is an attractive, young, wealthy looking woman and she soon becomes the next women being held captive inside Colt's apartment...
"Why are you treating me this way?"
"I tried to be the good guy once; it didn't take."
What Colt doesn't expect though, is that he and Lily seem to have a shared past. The more time they spend together, the more their past begins to unravel itself. And the more they get to know each other, the more they get attracted to each other to the point where the sexual tension between the two of them is palpable. And well, the actual sex scenes were more than HOT, with Colt being the dominant one between the two of them; he could be sweet one moment and rough and demanding the next.
"This is not a negotiation. I want to make you come, Lily. I am being very nice to you. It would be in your best interest to take my gift as it is and not be greedy."
"I was thinking with something other than my brain; I just wasn't sure it was my dick or my heart."
To say much more about the story, would spoil too much, so I'll let you find out what happens next by reading the story for yourselves. All I can say is that there were many twists and turns and that nothing was what it seemed...
The entire story was written from Colt's POV and since I love reading the male point of view, that was a big plus for me. Although, in this case, I might have preferred it even more if the story would have been written in a dual POV. Being able to follow the story through Colt's eyes and getting flashbacks from the important moments of his life, did give me a much better understanding of how he became the person he is now. It showed that underneath all the layers of indifference, he's actually a good person who will do whatever it takes to protect the ones he loves.
"Don't be sorry. I'm yours and I wasn't you to fight for us. I will fight for you every day for the rest of my life if I have to."
Although this is essentially a kidnap story, I didn't find it to be a very dark or twisted story at all (definitley not as dark as Captive in the Dark for example). Despite the sometimes "harsher" scenes where Colt tried to convince both himself and Lily that he wasn't the good guy, everything that happened between him and Lily was consensual.
So, if you're looking for something different that will keep you on your toes and that can be read as a standalone, then Safe Word is definitely worth giving a try!

Safe Word was a quick read, and an interesting story with a pretty different twist!
Colton Bishop is not a good guy. At least not anymore.
‘Colt. Like a horse?’
‘Like the gun, sweetheart.’
Colt’s job is unusual to say the least. He picks up women. Rich women. He is involved in an operation . He keeps the women hostage and collects ransom- He is an attractive guy, blonde hair, blue eyes. He has no trouble finding willing victims. Colt doesn’t hurt them, just keeps them locked away until the time is right. One night, while on the prowl, he sees a woman. Lily. She seems to know him, but he doesn’t recognize her.
Rose, or ‘Lily Hilton’ is the only woman Colt has ever loved.
But she disappeared years ago. Now she’s back, and she gets caught up in the game. Colt has no choice but to hold her- it’s his job. These are the rules. But he has trouble following the rules when it comes to her.
Even with all the crazy going on, Lily trusted Cole, even though she hated him at times, they still had that connection from their past.
Colt has a hard time drawling the line with Lily. He is finding it hard to treat her like the other captives. He can’t resist her. Even though its against all the rules and could jeopardize everything, he has to have her.
What I loved about this book: Colt and Lily together.... HOT. Seriously hot. The sexual tension was hot, when they got together it was even hotter! But not just that. Their connection is still there. I loved the back and forth between past and present. One of the biggest pluses of this book was that the entire thing was from Colt’s pov. That made me one happy lady! I found myself wondering what was going on a lot in the first half. I had some theories... some were correct, some weren’t. The twist was interesting. I enjoy this author’s writing. And Colt- I know he was a ‘bad guy’, but I loved him from the get go! He was sexy, protective, a little rough around the edges, and all kinds of sexy.
I enjoyed the story as a whole, it wasn’t quite as dark and sinister as I expected. I wasn’t sure how I felt about the ending. Once I started this one, I couldn’t put it down. If I wasn’t conflicted about the ending, I would have for sure given it 5 stars, but even so- it is still a 4-4.5 star read for me!

I needed to separate the Rose I remembered from the Lily sitting in front of me now. I had already broken all of my rules.

I Really liked this and I have no idea what the fuck I just read...
Spoilers ahead...!!
I am the most confused I have ever been at the end of the book..I'm typing this review and I am still thinking... WHATTHEFUCK. There was a true love story, I know this for sure..... 2 damaged souls... Cole and Rose/ aka Colt and Lilly. They were in love as teens then seperated and Cole went totally downhill from there and well.. things just went pretty freaky ass crazy from that point on. They get reconnected.. this mostly happens since Colt kidnapps her. They have some really hot welcome back sex..really HOT.. and all this time there is this crazy ass kidnapping scheme going on around them, mobster bad guys, a crazy daddy getting out of jail, people getting beat up, people getting whacked, identies changing.. I could barely keep up.... shit, who am I kidding.. I was never able to catch up. This was one crazy ride. I'm still confused as all hell about a lot of things that happened, how they happend, why they happend..... And as crazy as all this stuff was.. it still managed to be good.. like really really good. I think the really hot sex helped a lot.
It was a quick read, it was very fast paced and nothing was boring for sure... I was confused the entire time but still really enjoyed it. I really don't know why I enjoyed it so much since I can't really do decent summary of it at all.. it was fucked up. Good fucked up.. but fucked up.

I don't like to write reviews with spoilers if I can help it; but I don't see anyway to give this it's due without something potentially being remarked on that could spoil parts of it for some...
I absolutely L-O-V-E-D Safe Word. It was raw and gritty but I think those who are bit squeamish to the harder books like Captive in The Dark will be able to digest this one much easier. At the heart of it - is a true romance, a life long one. One that drives Colt/Cole to base his entire life on doing right by the girl that he loved so deeply and felt as though he let down in a way that he would never be able to redeem himself for. The crazy part of it was that Cole was only a teenager when he lost Rose and he in no way could have done anything to help her situation anymore than what he did. At least not in a way that would have been safe for the both of them. Cole goes into a line of work that he feels will help him to save those that he could not in his life and when that all crumbles he takes on another life entirely. While he may think that he will never be that teenager again as the story progresses he learns that he never stopped being him.
My heart ached for Lily/Rose. To have gone through as much as she did in her young life. Always looking over her shoulder and trying to stay one foot ahead of her step-father makes it hard to believe she ever really could find happiness in her life. We go through a good section of the book wondering if she is in fact still Cole's Rose or if this new person Lily is someone entirely different. As is the case with Cole, we find that Rose is alive and fighting as always.
I would give this one 4.5 stars I think the epilogue could have been a little more detailed and there was room for improvement in some of the story line. The heat in this book gave it that extra .5 of a star for me. Cole was on fire hot. He was dominant and aggressive. He did what he wanted when he wanted to and he also made sure that Rose was taken care of. He had no shame in the bedroom and it was FANTASTIC! Prepare your ovaries now!

“You can’t ever give this to anyone else, Rose. This is mine. It’s always been mine.” I ran my fingers from her collar bone, over her chest and found her swollen clit between us.

Holy hotness !!! Teresa Mummert's head is a dark and twisted place ! I swear that lady is serious trouble ... She's been creeping me up ever since I read her first book
and I love it ! She is awesome sauce !
Ahem , moving on ... Its kinda difficult to review this book , mainly because the plot is sooo seemingly inter-connected that giving any thing away would be risking blatantly giving the entire plot and story line . But lets try a little , shall we ...
Colt Bishop is a bad guy ... He kidnaps young women from wealthy households , and asks for Ransom money from their families . That said , he doesn't torture or misbehaves with them .. Just a little rude treatment to scare them off , nothing much . That's the way he has been living for quite a while now . Enters , Lily Hilton . Lily Hilton isn't really Lily Hilton . She is someone from Colt's past . At a time when Colt was Cole and not Colt . But Colt doesn't know that . By the time he has it figured out , its too late . Lily has become a part of his shenanigans . And its just not him , he works that entire ordeal with a bunch of bad guys . Guys you don't wanna mess with . What's Colt gonna do now ? What does Lily want ? Why is she here with him .. ???
Colt is one seriously fucked up mofo ! He scares me but then makes me all hot and bothered ... Fuck , sooo unhealthy I tell ya ! And Lily is no better . She confused me all the way to the end . One moment she is all sobbing and crying , the next she acting all smart and playing with fire !! Trust me honey you dont wanna mess with Colt . Like I said , he is totally dark in the head !
Will it be weird if I told you I cried a little whilst reading this story ??? Because I honestly did . Teresa alternates the story telling technique from present to past . That way , you get a little background story and see where Colt and Lily come from . Those little bits + what was happening in the present time = Me getting all teary !!
Plus , not sure if there are a lot of people here who listen to Bollywood songs , but there is this one song that was playing on my ipod and I was like , ' Christ ! This song is sooo perfect for Colt and Lily !! ' .. Luckily , I found a translated version of the song ... Here it is ..
My only complain , the book could've been a little longer !

I am going to try to do a just review for this book! I loved it so much. I thought it was very well-written. The story line was paced nicely and I loved the plot. It had a nice dose of humor, a huge shock factor, and it was so very intriguing. I couldn't put it down!

Seriously guys, It's a really great book that has a really sexy alpha-male. You'll only fall more in love with the story as it all unfolds. I swear I never saw some of those twists and turns coming. This book kept me on my toes non-stop and I loved every minute of it.
I had to read some parts twice because I just couldn't believe my eyes! I don't want to say too much more because I don't want to give anything away. However, you should definitely prepare yourselves because if there was ever a book where afterwards you say, "I never saw that coming.", tis will be it. You guys should definitely go into it with fresh eyes. I hope you all enjoy!

I'm still trying to figure out how I feel about this book. I 100% love this author, so it pains me to give it such a low rating, but this book has just left me so confused...So, I'm giving it 3.5 stars and it's killing me but I have to.

The book starts out with Cole/Colt in a bar staking out his next target. His job is to kidnap girls, and hold them for two weeks until a ransom has been paid then he drops them off unharmed except for the nightmares of being kidnapped. While sitting in this bar, he runs into Lily that remembers him but he can't seem to place her. They exchange numbers, and since he is so intrigued by her he, he ends up meeting with her later at another bar for a drink. That's when he realizes that Lily is his Rose from childhood. He has been looking for her for years and now here she is. Problem with this is, she's just landed on his bosses radar which means, he now has to kidnap her.
The book goes back and forth from the present to Rose and Cole's childhood. Rose was rich and popular in high school. Cole was more like the kid from the wrong side of the tracks compared to her friends. Her and Cole were together, but they kept it a secret per Rose's request. However, Cole and Rose, had way more in common than anyone knew. Both dealt with "problems at home". Cole tried at every turn to save Rose from her problems but in the end, he didn't succeed. After he lost her, his life became all about trying to find her. Until he lost all leads and decided she must be gone for good. That turned him into a heartless man that he believes he is now.

I guess the main reasons I didn't like this book, as much, was it left me with so many more questions. The whole book is in Cole/Colt's POV. I love books like this and loved reading his POV, but it left some questions about what happened with Rose unanswered. Like what happened to her when she disappeared? Even though the book led us to believe what happened with Rose, what exactly happened with Craig? With Cole, I felt like I never really understood him. He literally went back and forth between hating her and loving her. I get it that it was a struggle for him because he felt abandoned from her so he was struggling with his feelings, but it was so back and forth that I felt like I was getting whiplash. :( I can't really explain it, because I got what the point of the story was supposed to be, how he struggled to be running from his past and forget Rose, and yet being happy that he had finally found her. The problem was he had dug himself into a hole that he couldn't get out of to let himself be with her even if he wanted to. I will say that once he made up his mind that he loved her, he didn't fight it and was willing to give up his life to keep her safe and I loved how hard he tried to do that.
I like the book, don't get me wrong, I just have so many questions left after the ending and still feel somewhat confused that I just can't give it more stars. :( Also, I'm hoping there is another book because it seems it's more of a Happy for now rather than forever and I can only imagine how much more complicated things could get once what happens in the ending happens. That could make an excellent next book.

I was so excited to read this book. The plot seemed really good. But sadly, it was a let down. The story, characters, and romance were not developed well. The beginning was really confusing. It was like there was just a bunch of "puzzle pieces" thrown at you and then they didn't come together until the end; and even then, I still didn't feel like the "puzzle" was put together well. The story is told from Colt's POV. I wish that somewhere in there we could of seen Lily's POV because some of her actions I just didn't get; I would've liked to see what she was thinking. Also, I never really felt connected to the characters. They weren't developed that well and parts their backgrounds were just kind of thrown at you. There are flashbacks laced throughout the story, but I just felt like they did very little to compliment the present storyline. Colt and Lily had history. I wish that there were more flashbacks of their relationship to help the reader connect, feel, and understand their romance in the present story line. That's always a problem with second chance romances, the romance just doesn't seem believable because you don't get to see the development and foundation of the relationship. Over all, this book was OK, but it didn't leave an impression on me.

I think I had a pair on when I bought the book, because I totally thought it was gonna be another hot kidnapping story. I was literally lost while reading this because I didn’t know what the heck was going on, so different than what I was expecting and was really not the book for me. I have to say though the book did keep me confused enough to finish it trying to figure out where the story was heading and there were some hot scene’s that kinda made up for it.

Colt Bishop’s life has been on a downwards spiral for as long as he can remember. There was once hope for a better life, but she quickly left him like the rest did. Now, he kidnaps rich woman in hopes for a nice payday. Those, however, are minor details when he has the big picture in mind.
That all gets blown to pieces when he comes face to face with his past at a bar.
As much as I liked this story– and I really did– I really had no idea what Safe Word was about when I started it. Emphasis on the NO IDEA. So when all the kidnapping and twisted stuff started happening, it was all like a slap in the face.
… I’ve been straddling the line of good and evil for too long.
I was a little lost on what to feel about Cole. Sometimes I felt for him, other times he needed a good kick to the balls. My emotions were all over the place. Beneath all his armor, I really felt that there was a good guy buried deep in him. Even when he going through one of his rages, it stemmed from hurt rather than anger.
I didn’t want to deal with the pain; I wanted to fucking drown in it– kill off any part of my heart that still beat for her.
I loved how the story was told completely in Colt’s POV. It went a long way in helping me better understand him. I don’t think the story would have had as much effect if it was in Lily’s POV.
Safe Word is like a water down version of Captive in the Dark. It was still very raw, but didn’t over do it.
Lily was likeable but there were times when I was a little irritated with her. I never really felt that she had the same unconditional, undying love that Colt felt towards her.
They way she looked at me it was just… different. She didn’t see the worthless criminal everyone else saw, even though that was exactly who I was.
Their relationship could be raw and ugly, but beneath all that they had something beautiful and powerful.
They really struggled and their love was put to the test on more than one occasion. They came out strong and that solidified them even more.
In the end, this was powerful, second chance love story that’ll have you captivated.
We rode toward the unknown, not caring what the future held for us as long as we faced it together. If another storm approached us, we would be each other’s shelter.

Wow , Just Wow I knew from the teasers we were going to get one hell of an awesome Book and They did not fail. Teresa has done it again with a fucking Fantastic Story !!!!! All of the steamy , hot, scenes in the teasers are there and so much more. I don't want to ruin it for anyone so My Review will be basic for you all!!!
This book is steamy, passionate, scary, crazy, hot, a total mind fuck and I loved every single page.

When you meet Colt he will shock you and intrigue you. His job is, let's just say, it's different and he is cruel as well as distant until he encounters Lily, that is.

Lily soon finds herself in Colt's world where she is unsure of him, his motives and why he is acting the way he is. Things become very intense as Colt struggles with right and wrong and most importantly his feelings for Lily.
"It wasn't your job to find me. We were kids. I wasn't anything to you." "You were everything to me."
Lily is terrified she doesn't understand Colt, what he is doing and why.

Let the roller coaster ride of emotions begin.

This is the first Teresa Mummert book I've read since the Honor Series. I want to read more, I love her writing, but I haven't. Safe Word was FANTASTIC! The intriguing history between Cole and Rose kept me turning the page. I loved how their past mirrored their present and their future.
Teresa's writing has blossomed so much in my opinion! I enjoyed the Honor Series, but Safe Word was more than a story about sex - oh yeah, there is GREAT sex! But not just for the sake of let's do it again. The "story" propelled Safe Word and the sex was icing on the cake. (I should mention, I LOVE ICING!)
Thank you Teresa for a great story with twists and turns, great characters with depth, and *wink * wink some amazing love scenes! By the way, I absolutely love Cole and Rose / Colt and Lily/ Cameron and Ruby!!!!

I couldnt wait to read this book. Seriously, the waiting was killing me. I wanted to smack my laptop everytime Ive read a teaser on FB. So it happens that I read it in one sitting - I couldnt get enough of Colt and Lily. In fact I wanted the story to go on and on...unfortunately that was not the case *sigh*! I really enjoyed it though :D
Their story was beautiful und ugly at the same time. It was NOT a simple love story where two old lovers meet and recover their feelings for each other - NO it was so much MORE! It is written in Colts POV and I loved every word of it. Now, who wouldnt love to be in the head of the hero? I was glued to my kindle and stayed the whole night up to be a little while longer with Colt! Thats pretty crazy, right ;)) !? What can I say Im adddicted!
Colt...Colt... He was a big jerk. He had feelings for her he didnt wanted to show. He preferred to be mean and angry towards her. He was hot and cold all at once!!! It was devastating but...Well, I loved him anyway!

Apparently, I have a thing for kidnappers because I friggin loved Cole. He was gentle yet ROUGH, calming yet scary ...yeah everything I look her in a man. .. The story was slightly cliche and the ending felt a tad rushed (patchy) but the heat factor will melt those thoughts alway. This is not your typical love story which I very much appreciated. Well worth the read in my humble opinion

This was a very intriguing and suspense filled love story. I wasn't really sure what to expect with this book. From the title of the book I was guessing it would be a BDSM story....but was I wrong. This book was totally different. I haven't seen a book with this type story line. This book kept me interested from the very first page to the very last page. There were a lot of different aspects that went into this book...lots of twists and turns. I'm not going to elaborate because it would spoil the story and I don't want to do that. This is just one of those books you need to read to fully understand my review. My only negative would be that I wish it would've been a little longer. This was definitely a quick read and one you won't be able to put down.

Okay typical day like any other day for me. Work, home, read! Well I have been dying for Teresa Mummert’s Safe Word and when I got her message telling me it was ready and then I checked my email and it was waiting for me I was like:
WOW. Safe Word by Teresa Mummert, what can I say about this book without giving anything away? Okay well let’s start with HOLY FINGER FUCKING FANTASTIC. Yep great place to start in my book!
So I am hoping you have read the synopsis and that gives you an idea of what this story is about, because I am going to skip completely over my rundown of what the book is about and jump right on in to how it made me feel. Let’s start with feelings, shall we? Feelings are a great place to start and I felt many of them during my time on this roller coaster.
We all know Teresa Mummert is a tease right? Yes well for this book she teased and teased and teased us with all her lil’ meme teaser’s that kept me on the edge of my seat, biting my nails and wanting this book like I want German chocolate cake. She teased us with things like this:
Oh and then it just kept getting worse and worse for me! She went above and beyond; knowing my kinky side and how I love to try to read in between the lines with something like this:
Oh and if it couldn’t get any worse she comes out with a whopper like this one that nearly had me wanting to fly to her house and personally kick her butt until she let me read it. Or rather yet her call me and read it too me. Yep that would have worked too.
So now that I have your attention and you have been primed and teased I will get on with this little ditty. When you read Safe Word you will feel many different emotions, I know I did. Some of them were strong than the others but they were felt all the same.
Sometimes I felt like this:
Because of choices that were made or not made and words of malice that were spoken that just pissed me off.
Compassion yep I went there too for most all the characters at one point of another because of what they dealt with in their pasts and what they were dealing with in the present and what they could possible deal with in the future.
And then I was like this:
Shock, I went into that a few times too because whatever thoughts you have in your head about what this story will story forget it, throw it out the window because I am 99% positive that, that shit isn’t gonna work out to well for ya.
Oh and when it got good, it got realllllll good I was like this:
Lust; awwwwww one of my favorite feelings and this book had my feeling is A LOT. I was drooling and afraid of permently damaging my cell phone because of things that were taking place. It had me clenching my thighs and squirming in my seat and I loved every second of it.
Teresa also grabbed at my heart strings and made me feel like this:
Love, the last and biggest emotion I felt because you could tell how much love was between the characters. From the time they first met to the time the book ended there was a lot of love there and it made me swoon.
Cole is the boy from the wrong side of the tracks, he comes from an abusive home where his father is a total douche and his mother does her best to survive. With a father who drinks himself to oblivion and is abusive in every sense of the word it’s a wonder Cole doesn’t find himself in trouble more often. Sometimes you have to read in between the lines and see what is actually in front of you. Lily wants one thing and one thing only and that thing may just end up costing her, her life.

So much happens in this book that your head will be spinning in circles. Right when you think you know what is going to happen….
Everything changes and the game gets more and more interesting! The characters will surprise you, they will go through hell and back for the one they love not knowing if they will finish the game alive.
Nothing is at it seems and the ideas you have running through your head and the thoughts that you may have throw them out the window they will do no good to you! You will be thrown from one direction to the next dying to grab on and finish the ride. There are twists and turns everywhere. You will never get bored. You will find yourself racking your brain to figure out what the hell just happened because it came out of left field and totally fucked with your mind.
All I can say that I am finally glad Teresa can tease me no more with Safe Word. I can always say with 100% certainty that this is the BEST work of hers that I have read to date and she totally blew my mind. How she came up with this storyline is beyond me because it goes way above and beyond anything I thought this book was about.
It was hot, steamy, passionate, scary, crazy, total mind fuck and I loved every word on the every page. My final thoughts of Safe Word are WOW! Go grab a copy and read – you will NOT want to put it down once you start, I can promise you that. Great work Teresa – job well done on knocking me right on my ass and taking me on this wild and crazy ride. Remember throw everything you think you know out of the window and just enjoy the Safe Word as it unravels right before your eyes. So if you are ready go get the book and let’s play a game.

WOW. Safe Word by Teresa Mummert, what can I say about this book without giving anything away? Okay well let’s start with HOLY FINGER FUCKING FANTASTIC. Yep great place to start in my book!
So I am hoping you have read the synopsis and that gives you an idea of what this story is about, because I am going to skip completely over my rundown of what the book is about and jump right on in to how it made me feel. Let’s start with feelings, shall we? Feelings are a great place to start and I felt many of them during my time on this roller coaster.
We all know Teresa Mummert is a tease right? Yes well for this book she teased and teased and teased us with all her lil’ meme teaser’s that kept me on the edge of my seat, biting my nails and wanting this book like I want German chocolate cake. She teased us with things like this:
Oh and then it just kept getting worse and worse for me! She went above and beyond; knowing my kinky side and how I love to try to read in between the lines with something like this:
Oh and if it couldn’t get any worse she comes out with a whopper like this one that nearly had me wanting to fly to her house and personally kick her butt until she let me read it. Or rather yet her call me and read it too me. Yep that would have worked too.
So now that I have your attention and you have been primed and teased I will get on with this little ditty. When you read Safe Word you will feel many different emotions, I know I did. Some of them were strong than the others but they were felt all the same.
Sometimes I felt like this:
Because of choices that were made or not made and words of malice that were spoken that just pissed me off.
Compassion yep I went there too for most all the characters at one point of another because of what they dealt with in their pasts and what they were dealing with in the present and what they could possible deal with in the future.
And then I was like this:
Shock, I went into that a few times too because whatever thoughts you have in your head about what this story will story forget it, throw it out the window because I am 99% positive that, that shit isn’t gonna work out to well for ya.
Oh and when it got good, it got realllllll good I was like this:
Lust; awwwwww one of my favorite feelings and this book had my feeling is A LOT. I was drooling and afraid of permently damaging my cell phone because of things that were taking place. It had me clenching my thighs and squirming in my seat and I loved every second of it.
Teresa also grabbed at my heart strings and made me feel like this:
Love, the last and biggest emotion I felt because you could tell how much love was between the characters. From the time they first met to the time the book ended there was a lot of love there and it made me swoon.

I was so incredibly excited for this book that I actually pre-ordered it, which is really something I never do unless it is a long awaited sequel or something like that. But this book intrigued me from the moment that I read the first teaser, only I have to say that it was actually NOTHING like what I though it was. Needless to say I really enjoyed it!!
My only real complaint is having a bit of a hard time understanding what everyone's real deal was, but then I guess that was the way the author intended.
When Rose/Lily comes back into Colt/Cole's life it is kind of a crazy, confusing roller coaster at first. You know they have a prior friendship but that is really it. The entire book bounces back and forth so that you can get an idea of why both of them are as fucked up as they are now. As I said it could be a bit confusing at moments but when I finished and sat and though about it, I couldn't deny it was a great story! I am just going to give everyone a heads up though because like me, with a title like Safe Word, you may naturally assume this is a BDSM novel, it is not. Don't get me wrong, there is quite a it of Hot Sex and Colt is quite the Alpha with Rose but that is where that ends. The 'safe word' is from when they were children(that's all I'm giving you) :)
The thing that really made this book for me though was the Epilogue!! Kudos to you Ms Mummert! I know not all authors put them in but some books simply need them and this was one!! LOVED THE EPILOGUE(and the whole rest of the book, of course)!!

"I was booking a first class flight to hell, but at least I would enjoy the trip."
Wowzers! This is definitely not what I was expecting when I started this book. It took me on a wild, fast ride that I couldn't and didn't want to get off of. The blurb barely skims the surface to this book. One of my favorite things to read about is kidnap stories and this did not disappoint.There were so many things that happened in Safe Word that I'm trying very hard to keep this review as spoiler free as possible. This book moves along very quickly and we learn early on that Colt and Lily share a past history that ended badly. When Colt and Lily are thrust together again after Colt 'kidnaps' her. Colt tries to deny his past feelings for her, but eventually he realizes this is futile and gives in.
From there the story just takes off like a rocket ship. There is danger, intrigue, bad guys, guns blazing, hostages, ransoms, murder and a plethora of drama to go around. The steam factor is pretty high but the scenes were just too short. Many times I was like, "wait is it over already?" I didn't really like or understand the epilogue and for me this finished the book on a weird note.
If you're looking for a read with action, romance and danger this is definitely the book for you.

This was definitely interesting as far as the story line goes. I've never read anything like it. It was a bit dark and dealt with some serious nature material. It definitely isn't a BDSM book contrary to what the title is. Though given the title, I felt it wasn't used to its full potential in the book as it should have been.
Rose and Cole had horrible upbringings. They lost touch with each other for years. How many you wonder? I can't really say as the book never stated their ages in the present time. These two never could catch a break it seemed. It was like the universe was playing a sick joke on them constantly. They have major messed up issues and seem to keep things from each other. He wasn't a nice guy often to her and she was a weird contradiction. I can't explain it properly. With out spoiling anything too badly I'll say: She would act one way, you would feel bad for her, then she would be this whole different person.
I would say this book is a bit predictable. I was able to guess somethings right away. By the end of it all I thought: Oh, well of course I should have known it would go that way.
I will point out that I didn't want these two to have a happily ever after with each other. However, as the book wore on, I thought these two crazies were perfect for each other.
The only four things I like the most about this book were:
1. It's all written in Cole's POV
2. It read fast
3. It was only 14 chapters with an epilogue
4. The flashbacks and glimpses of their teen years

I started off really enjoying this but it wasn't as climatic as I was hoping for. The beginning I thought hell yeah I'm gonna like Colton a crazy son of a bitch what's not to like, right? but it didn't seem like he stayed crazy enough for me. Who knows maybe I'm just a twisted bitch because I just kept thinking this could go even darker. I was also left with quite a few unanswered questions. I'm still not sure if I know what Colton' s job was. The ending just fell a little flat for me.
