Rooted in the ancient traditions of martial arts, Bow to Life explores personal growth and spirituality through the practical realm, offering a remarkable new tool for everyday self improvement of mind and body. Author Joseph Cardillo — a master of five martial arts, an authority on martial philosophy and psychology, and the author of Be Like Water — describes how one can tap into tremendous inner power and achieve successes wherever one wishes — from dealing with relationships, family life, and the work world to managing emotional and health issues. His approach is distinctively nonviolent, based on the martial arts concepts of self-discovery, inner strength, and spiritual enlightenment. The focus is on creating one's own destiny from within, seeking one's own path rather than relying on pressure from society and other less genuine outside forces.

Interesting book that I was hoping would tie together principles of martial arts and daily life for me. I think my mail problem was that I am not a participant in martial arts, so it was often (50% of days) a stretch for me to understand the linkages the author described. For all I know, this is a 5 star book for those who do participate in martial arts. But more of a 3 star book for me.
"When life is darkest, you can choose to feel only darkness, or you can reach into your heart and feel the love of the universe swirling throughout you.You can let your most primal heartfelt instincts take over and relax in the presence of Divine light as you flow back into the brightness. The next moment of creation is all yours. Bow to the Divine in all things. Bow to the Divine in you. Bow to life."
Another of my page a day books completed for 2009. Read this along with another 365 page a day book and this one was much better. Even though I'm not a martial art's person, per se, I do go along with much of the philosophy. Mr. Cardillo present short lessons in easily learnable bites and practical exercises to help you apply or ponder what you've learned for the day. I liked it.
