Torn #1.5

Scornfully Hers

Rate this book
The story takes you back a few months before Scornfully Yours in Carter’s POV.

Carter Mason was the playboy soccer stud in their campus. Coming from wealth and good genes, he was used to getting everything he wanted. At a young age, he witnessed how love can become your worst enemy. It was a man’s downfall, an irrevocable poison that will forever haunt you, until you’re out of fight and gasping for your last breath.

Lust at first glance.

That’s what Carter instantly thought when his eyes landed on Emma Anderson for the very first time. She was gorgeous woman who wore her sexiness and naïveté with confidence.

Both wanted to enjoy each other without the complications of love and all the drama it came with.

The one thing they both avoided unexpectedly sprouted, causing a rift between them.

Carter Mason- I read this book to try and get some insight into what was going on in your Stupid stupid mind!!

Firstly- I do like you a bit more now having read this BUT I'm sorry, I'm Team Bass all the way!!

Carter-

So this is Scornfully Yours from Carters POV- How he met Emma and how he feel in love with her before he even knew it!
It wasnt just casual sex anymore. Emma was his...

Emma-

"I don’t do any of the hearts and butterflies shit, Em. I don’t do love or the happily ever after shit, either, but I can definitely satisfy you…”

The boy who doesn't 'DO LOVE' finds himself loosing the one girl who changes every rule he ever set for himself because of his stubbornness and stupidity!!

I even forgave his 1st one or 2 mistakes. Really Carter! Stop thinking with your DICK!!!

When he actually gets another chance with the girl he loves he royally fucks it up in a way that's unforgivable!

Sorry! There's no going back from that no matter what he does!

“You have one life to live. Never give up because you only get this one chance. So live it, learn it, own it and accept it. Conquer it.” I’m never giving up, Emma. Might as well kill me because you’ll always be my girl, whether you want to be or not."

Scornfully Hers is from Carter’s POV, re-living all the events from Scornfully Yours. I’m not sure if there was anything that really stood out in this one that I didn’t know from the first, because in the first book there were already bits and pieces in his POV. This quick read just made pissed me off, since I had to re-live his fuck up all over again in a little more detail. I feel bad for him, but at the same time he really got what he deserved, I can’t wait to see what he is willing to do to get her back. Carter is a broken man determined to get his shit together to prove that he is worth it.

OKAY OKAY OKAY!! Where do I start??? This book is the same story as Scornfully Yours but is told in Carter's POV.

CARTER MASON CARTER MASON CARTER MASON....you sly dog you. Pamela Ann, I really thought you were going to make me change my mind about Carter....NEVER for Emma though because she belongs with Bass(sigh). I liked seeing there is a softer side to Carter and that he can actually maybe LOVE someone but I personally do not think he loves Emma. I think he is use to having girls drop to their knees for him
and Emma is not one to do that. She is a challenge for him. I do think he is drawn to her beauty and he does love her in Carter's way but she is NOT the love for him. Emma made Carter see that he maybe can love someone besides himself but he's not quite there yet.

I was really dreading reading Scornfully Hers because there were some parts in Scornfully Yours that I REALLY DID NOT WANT TO RE-VISIT...OH, BUT I DID and let me tell you, it was MORE traumatic the 2nd time around. Oh Carter, I REALLY wanted to like you!!! YOU SCREWED UP BIG TIME...literally!!! I won't go in to that but if you've read Scornfully Yours & I hope you have...You know EXACTLY what I'm talking about.
THE BOATHOUSE(cough cough)!! STUNNED & SICKENED....YELP that's how I would describe it. This is where I was hoping maybe I could change my mind but HOW IN THE HECK would this be the scene to do that...No clue what I was thinking, but I did have some hope there...NOPE didn't happen.

I DO recommend everyone read this Novella especially if you've read Scornfully Yours. I hope with everything in me that Bass & Emma end up together. If she ends up with Carter in Fixated In You, that would be a tragedy because it would be only a matter of time before their relationship would fail. In my opinion, it has already failed. I hope Carter gets his own book or series. I would like to see him find his HEA and maybe him feeling something for Emma will make him realize that he can LOVE someone...truly LOVE someone besides himself.

I DEFINITELY RECOMMEND THIS BOOK!! I LOVE all of Pamela Ann's books!!

"Do you believe a man can truly love a woman and constantly betray her? Never mind physically but betray her in his mind, in the very poetry of his soul? Well, it's not easy but men do it all the time."~Mario Puzo

Fans of this series are well aware of Carter's major SCREW UP(orgy) that lost him Emma in Scornfully Yours. This book is Carter's pov from the moment he meets Emma and ending where Scornfully Yours ended.

Carter is pretty much what readers of this series thinks he is. He is an arrogant, man-whore (who loves menages) soccer star who does't do long term relationships past a month or so. Until he meets and falls for Emma who rattles him from the get go.

Carter doesn't believe in love...

"It's all I can give you. I don't do any of the hearts and butterflies shit, Em. I don't do love or happily ever after shit, either, but I can definitely satisfy you..."

"Emotional talks were not a strong suit for me. I was better off with pleasuring and showing Emma that she was the only woman I wanted."

When Emma breaks up with him because she "is getting back with her ex" but really it's because she loves him...it takes him a while to figure this out. As soon as he puts it together he goes for his girl only Bass the movie star has encroach upon his territory already.

Slowly Carter realizes that he is in fact in love with Emma...

"Fuck!
Love?
ME?
Emma?

Yep Carter falls in love!

"I wanted my girl back, I declared with certainty."

Carter gets his second chance with Emma but his reaction to her pregnancy scare and the position she finds him in ---- leaves their relationship in ruins.

"You have one life to live. Never give up because you only get this one chance. So live it, learn it, own it and accept it. Conquer it."

Going forward in this series, we have learned that Carter has not given up on Emma. He has been pulling out all the stops to get her back.

Sadly, I don't know if they could ever move past his epic screw up and get any sort of hea. If anyone can do it- it could be the determined Carter Mason!

"I'm never giving up, Emma. Might as well kill me because you'll always be my girl, whether you want to be or not."

OMG I don't know how you did pam but I've totally changed teams I was all the way 100% team CARTER!! But after reading this book I'm totally team BASS!!! I still love carter but he messed up big time and to be honest I think he may be a nyphomaniac he just can't help himself he claims to love Emma yet has a 5 girl sex fest HELL NO!!! That is not love it took me reading carters side to see bass is the best for Emma but I still love carter only as a single guy forever cause I think it's impossible for him to keep it in his pants I'm a bit sad to be honest. :(

I thought reading from Carter's POV would make me like him a little more or feel sympathy towards him but It didn't. Carter got what he deserves. He has always had women swooning after him and he discarded them when he got bored or tired of them. So Emma comes along and he falls in love but even though he loves her he still makes bad decisions and thinks only of himself. I believe if Emma took him back again that he would cheat as soon as a problem came along that he didn't want to deal with. Even though Carter is hot and their sex scenes were hot I'm Team Bass, sorry Carter!!!

“You’re killing me and I’m going insane. I can’t think straight.”

OH PAMELA ANN YOU LITTLE MANIPULATOR OF WORDS!! You literally cut me open and are slowly killing me with each book. You know how they say there are two sides to every story well here is your other side and let me tell you this book shined a different light and left me saying could I be TEAM CARTER? Would I really be ok with being TEAM CARTER? The answer I think I could, Emma is it for Carter she is his FOREVER. But he is so good at making mistakes, so good at being put in situations that he can’t control himself. I WANT TO CRY!!!

“Emma….you’re messing with my head so bad, I want to break something. I want to scream my anger and punch someone.”

I am sitting here thinking how did this happen, how am so torn! I know Emma loves them both I don’t even question that but what I am questioning is, is Bass’s love as strong as Carter’s, is it as deep, Emma is it for Carter without a doubt!! Is she is IT for Bass? Is Emma capable of really forgiving Carter, putting this behind them? As a women, I don’t know if I could and I am shattered thinking about her and Carter losing that love. I love having Carter’s side of the story and I HATE CECE AND AMANDA SOMETHING FIERCE but I am also so sad I have Carter’s side, now I have to quit thinking about what a dick he was and I have to sit here saying OK CARTER DAMN IT I AM NOW TEAM DON’T BREAK JODIE’S HEART!!!

“Do you believe a man can truly love a woman and constantly betray her? Nevermind physically but betray her in his mind, in the very poetry of his soul? Well, it’s not easy but men do it all the time.” ~ Mario Puzo

Excuse me while I go throw up and wait for the next book.

Okay, I was not a fan of Carter since his huge indiscretion...but then I started this book...and well I saw a human side to Carter...the arrogant self satisfying jock is mostly a front to protect a scared guy who is afraid of heart break.

Emma is different cause she doesn't tolerate Carter's crap. She doesn't suck up to him (especially not the way Amanda does) and she is straight with him. Carter's problem is he has never known rejection like this before...nobody rejects "THE" Carter Mason.

What is most surprising is that Carter realises even after all these years he has fought to never be like his Dad, he recognises that he actually loves Emma, and to a degree this scares the shit out of him.

As the saying goes "You don't know what you got until its gone" and Carter is learning this lesson in a big way. Can he win Emma back? But the real question is can Carter think with the head that holds his brain?

I developed a soft spot for Carter after reading this...but I am not convinced to join Team Carter yet...you have a long way to go Mr Mason and the clock is ticking!

Another fantastic book by the ever talented and gorgeous Pamela Ann :)

Love this series. Carter POV. At first I was starting to really hurt for Carter and thought Maybe he would be best for Em but after reading this, in the end I am still Team Bass. It bothered me that Em just threw again her relationship with Carter after 3 mths and jumped right in with Bass. But when Carter hurt her so painfully in the end, he doesn't deserve her. And someone really needs to put Amanda & Cece in their place. (Skanks)

Carter, Carter, Carter... You sure know how to screw up a good thing!

I have been Team Bass from the start. During Frayed, I started falling for Carter. He really upped his game in that book. But by the end of Blasphemous, even though I felt bad for Carter, I was wholeheartedly Team Bass. I believed that Bass & Emma were soul mates.

Now... I'm so torn! Carter really loves Emma. She's it for him. The question is, can Emma ever forgive Carter for his colossal mistake? Can she find her way back to him, or will she move forward with her relationship with Bass? Guess we all have to wait impatiently for the next book!

Scornfully Hers is the same story as Scornfully Yours but in Carter's POV. It covers his thoughts, his feelings, his reactions. This is a great addition to the Emma, Bass and Carter saga.

I am still 100% "Team Bass" and after reading this novella, there is no doubt, Carter does not deserve Emma.

Can't wait to read the next book in this series!

Sometimes it's hard, while reading a romance novel, to get the understanding of the person opposite the current persons point of view, but thanks to Pamela Ann, we get a peek into the mind of Carter Mason, through this novella. First, I want to say, I am a die hard Carter fan and was in love with his character when I read the first there torn series books (Scornfully Yours, Frayed, and Blasphemous) ... And my view of this novella may be a tad but biased (sorry babes) ..

To read Scornfully Yours, mostly through Emma Anderson's POV I still loved Carter. Shit really hit the fan when after a pregnancy scare Carter finds himself in a full on orgy with not 2 or 3 but with 5 slut muffins. Enter Emma and with a "ball smashing" exit, you would think that's where it ends.

BUT ... Reading Carters Novella "Scornfully Hers" you really understand the turmoil that young Mr Mason has experienced. Coming to grips with his love for Emma to the lead up of him ending in a slut sandwich.

How can you not feel something for him. I felt his anger when Emma was going out with Bass Cole. I heard his growl. I felt his pain.

Carter is such an amazing, well written character and im so pleased that Pamela thought to give Carter some more detail. Men are man-whores for a reason ladies, it's not just because. Carter harbors a lot of baggage with the untimely deaths of his parents that you really see in this book.

I think Pamela Ann seriously wants to mess with our minds. Having read Carter's POV I actually thought that I'll go all "Team Carter!" but sadly I'm not. Don't get me wrong, I admire his perseverance for Emma but he just doesn't know the right things to do. And with all the wrong things he's done, you've gotta learn somehow but he didn't. I like Carter but I don't think its Emma for him.

"I'm never giving up, Emma. Might as well kill me because you'll always be my girl, whether you want to be or not."

I don't deny the fact that Carter is sweet and not to mention hot. Well, whatever the ending maybe (which is torture waiting for) I know its worth the wait!

Pamela Ann you are seriously a genius with words that has many readers hooked!

I read this book to see what went through Carter's mind during the first book. I will say, didn't make me like him anymore than I did in the first one. I think I rolled my eyes multiple times at some of the things he did, but expected Emma to forgive him. For someone who really loved Emma, he sure couldn't keep it in his pants. It seemed that the slightest temptation took to much effort for him to back off. Maybe it's because I'm totally against cheating and I feel that there should be no problem telling someone NO when they are asking you to do things, and that's why I don't get him. I dont' know, but he sure isn't on my favorite boys list, thats for sure.
This book was all through Carter's POV and let you see what all was going through his head during Scornfully Yours. It was a good book, and there was definitely alot of sex.. ALOT OF SEX. I would recomend this book to my friends if they wanted his POV instead of going straight to Frayed. Don't get me wrong I really liked this book, I just don't like Carter.

...Yeah!

See where this is going. But unfortunately I don't think I am going to continue on with this series cause I'm feeling myself getting whiplashed.

Anyways the story line the characters are worth the 3.5STARS deserved from me.

Damn this book made me totally fall in love with Carter. I am still slightly team Bass but it’s a close call especially after what he pulled in Blasphemous. This book was amazing and I am so happy that Pamela wrote it. The problem when you have love triangles written by extremely talented authors is you fall in love with both of the possible candidates which is what Pamela did. Through the Torn series I have been able to get to know, fall in love and hate both Carter and Bass. So it’s really hard to pick one over the other especially now. My request is this… to whomever doesn’t end up with Emma… please please please write them a book with their own HEA.

Nope. Still not on team Carter. Team Bass all the way. This book didn't make me change my mind about Carter, I still think he's a cheating douchebag who should really just learn to let go. I think he and Cece would make a wonderful couple...

I do like the hot scenes Pamela writes but these people and what happens between the hot scenes always gets to me. I can't believe some of the stupidity of the characters and should they be my friends in real life, I don't know how I could stay friends with them.

The book itself didn't bring that much to the story of Emma, Carter and Bass and at least I didn't have any epiphany about Carter's past some of the other reviewers have mentioned.

I can honestly say I haven't read a book by Pamela Ann that I did not love. I absolutely love this series and it is great to read from Carter's perspective. The development of the characters in this series makes it hard to dislike any of them. She has written a story that takes a character that previously seemed nonredeemable and made him human.
I loved how we were able to see the differing sides from Scornfully Yours and this one, while also seeing some new things that we previously weren't privy to.
Another terrific one..can't wait for the rest of the series.
