Buckhorn Ever After by Lori Foster

In this five chapter read we meet Shohn, he is hot, hot, hot and more hot! He wants Nadine, he has always wanted her yet something has help him back and instead he has stuck to his playboy love-em-love-em lifestyle.

But looking into the eyes of Nadine one day he suddenly realises it's time to go for it. He has her every which way you can think of.

Only Nadine wants their relationship to remain a secret, for when Shohn breaks her heart like all the other girls in town she would prefer to handle the heartache in secret, instead of being branded as yet another notch in Shohn's bedpost.

Shohn can handle this but only up to the point where letting the world know she is his woman, even if he has to kill off a family member to prove it!

A hot little read about jealousy, finding happiness in the place you are and family that come together to ensure love finds it way to completion. The characters were well written and I liked the conflict and heat between the characters, it set the pages alight.

Adored the cat in this little tale, it added the feeling of coming home to the read. Recommend for Lori Foster fans and for all romance readers who like family meddling!

Imagine Me and You by Maisey Yates

All Maisey Yates fans know she writes gorgeous ,tormented, badboy hero's that are simply to die for! This time around she has done so again, a drool worthy, come sit in my lap and let me unwrap you for Christmas cowboy!

That cowboy is Jace,but he is not your typical romance hero, yes he is drop dead sexy, great in bed, a badboy when it comes to the have sex and walk away traits, but his past has given him one very quirky habit, the man is a neat freak!

His home is the absolute perfect image of clean. Nothing is out of place, everything is spotless. That is until his best friend Samantha shows up needing a place to stay, only with her comes her beloved dog Poppy with extra drool included.

Jace actually does not handle the dog fur and drool situation too badly and it was rather funny. But the one thing he cannot handle is the simmering attraction for Samantha, it has been there for years but he has been able to brush it off. But now she is in his house looking all gorgeous and he wants her bad. He is thrilled to find she wants him too, but risking their friendship is something Samantha simply will not do. Jace however has a plan and if he has to allow the drooling dog to sleep on his precious couch to get Samantha into bed then this neat freak will break all his own rules!

The characters were both simply great ! I am use to this author's Mills and Boon reads with classy heroines and classier rich hero's but in this read the main characters were both down to earth, spoke their minds and just went with the flow, this was nice and refreshing!

The read comes in at only eleven chapters but was in no way too short or too long, it was just perfect. A very sensual, sexy read about friends who turn to lovers. Highly recommend for all Maisey Yates fans and lovers of cowboys who just don't quit when it comes to getting their woman !

Gimme Shelter by Heidi Betts

Another five chapter read, this one about Dean and Erica and the three adorable kittens that bring them together.

Dean rescues them so he is definitely hero material ladies! Now the attraction between Erica and Dean move very quick and it is not long before the pages start to burn up with the sizzling heat!

But when Dean decides he is not keeping the kittens he goes from hero to zero in Erica's eyes only the poor man has no idea that is the reason she is giving him the cold shoulder, so he sets out on a mission to get to the bottom of it!

The characters were both likeable and I found myself thinking how perfect they are for each other. I liked the author using the kittens as the link for this couple. It gave the perfect "ties that bind us" feel for this read.

A very nice little story about compassion and communication. Recommend for all cat lovers !

Partner in Crime by Jules Bennett

We all do something in the middle of the night that we find heroic, but things can always go wrong. Only for Saige she thinks rescuing animals for crazy owners is just that and the only thing that can go wrong is if she is caught, but she is always extra careful and so reckons it will never happen. Until her red hot drop dead gorgeous ex-cop neighbour Abel turns her in to the police!

Not only is she arrested she loses the dog she was trying to rescue! She is in total shock as only a few hours before she had been having the best orgasms all thanks to being in this man's arms and now this!

This is a short nine chapter read that was also a very easy read, the authors words flowed very nicely and she brought all together with a crazy mess of various animals, each one cuter than the other!

The characters were both very nicely written. I liked that the author lets the attraction between a always do the right thing Abel and do what you must even if you break the law Saige pop from page one.

A wonderful message of life gives us what we need when we least expect it! Highly recommended for all lovers of Jules Bennett fans and romance reads that move with ease and at a fast pacey.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
All four stories contained adorable animals from cute little kittens to seriously bad smelling dogs,I adored each one of them. I highly recommend this read for all romance readers looking for a book that contains it all some mystery, some suspense, some police action and yes a delicious cowboy!
Sexy, passionate, romantic, heartfelt, sensual and completely rocking!
Animal Attraction by Lori Foster, Maisey Yates, Heidi Betts and Jules Bennett
Four Short Stories:
Buckhorn Ever After by Lori Foster
Imagine Me and You by Maisey Yates
Gimme Shelter by Heidi Betts
Partner in Crime by Jules Bennett
Buckhorn Ever After by Lori Foster:
Nadine has been attracted to Shohn Hudson the local Forest Ranger for what seems like forever. But she has kept her feelings well hidden. She now runs the local Pet Hotel, where folks can drop their beloved pets off for the day or while on vacation. Nadine is loveable and strong minded and has no problem standing up to Shohn.
Shohn Hudson is not the serious type, oh he loves the ladies but he has never been in love with them. He is never in short supply for female company and word has gotten around just how much the ladies love him. When he stops by the Pet Hotel to pick up his cousins dog he is shocked at just how attracted he is to Nadine and wonders why they never hooked up before. Now he had decided he will do whatever he needs to do to have Nadine. Including, adopting a BIG CAT.
There were some really cute lines in this book. It had me snickering quite a bit. And to see what they come up with to have some private time away from this “stuck like glue Cat” Louie
Imagine Me and You by Maisey Yates
In this darling short by MaiseyYates, we meet long time friends Jace and Samantha. They have known each other since high school. While neither one has had a relationship that has lasted, their friendship has stood the test of time.
Samantha has shown up on Jace’s doorstep needing a place to stay. She has a MOOSE aka “Newfoundland “for a dog and needs a temporary place for a month. She promises it won’t be an issue, but we all can see the writing on the wall when Samantha and Poppy move into Mr. OCD’s house. Jace is a clean freak, everything has a place and no dust is going to settle on his furniture. So how is he going to stop from going nuts when drooling Poppy moves in? Let the laughter begin.
And wow was there ever some steamy scenes in this book … yeah I know but seriously they were in the shower … STEAMY! For a short story Maisey was able to pack in quite a bit of back story to explain Jace’s obsession with cleaning and having everything in it place.
Gimme Shelter by Heidi Betts
In Gimme Shelter: Erica has secretly drooled over her hunk of a neighbor for a year now. And she is surprised when he shows up on a rainy evening after midnight holding three small kittens. Dean has come to the only person he thinks can help him with the small kittens he rescued from work. Erica is an animal L O V E R! Mom to two dogs and three cats of her own. So she was the go to gal when it comes to animal care.
Dean had noticed Erica before but never up close and is shocked how pretty she really is. While she helps him warm up the kittens and feed them they start flirting with each other. She lets him know he will have to stay at her house with her, to help feed the kittens every couple of hours. They soon realize they have a lot in common. And neither can move fast enough to get the other in bed.
Heidi Did a great job making me feel like I was watching the antics of these three little kittens. I even enjoyed how Dean named them The Three Stooges Larry Curly and Moe. It was quite cute to see what they go into.
Partner in Crime by Jules Bennett
In Jules Bennett’s short story Partner in Crime: We meet Abel who is pet setting for his sister Leah who is in the military in Iraq. Recuperating from a gunshot wound he received while a police officer. He is waiting to be cleared to return to the Police force and is hoping to take a job in Lexington. When the neighbor’s dog fluffy grabs a plastic ball with Spike inside “Leah’s guinea pig”, of course Abel panics. But soon the guinea pig is rescued. But Abel is not sure he will be the same. He is instantly attracted to Saige. She is just the type of woman Abel is attracted to, not all skin and bones. But a woman he can hold on to.
Saige is so much more than a pretty face. While she works at a vet clinic during the day. At night she is busy breaking the law by stealing dogs. With tips from a friend she dons black clothing and goes into the worse of neighborhoods to rescue dogs that are being abused, used in fighting or just plain neglected. She uses her own money to care, treat and love these dogs to health while finding them good homes to go to.
When Abel sees her leaving late at night he follows her. He makes her tell him what is really going on and when she is determined to go back for the dog, he tells a fellow police officer and has Saige picked up. But there is so much more behind this. While Saige is really angry over feeling betrayed, she soon changes her tune when he tells her why he did this.
I loved the story line Partners in Crime. I loved that there was someone willing to do anything to rescue abused and neglected animals. There were also a few funny lines in this book. Especially regarding Fluffy, and her little problem.
These four short stories were really cute. One of the things I enjoyed was each one had a few laughs in each, along with some steamy romance.
Another reason to purchase this book - The authors are donating all of their proceeds from Animal Attraction to the Animal Adoption Foundation of Hamilton, OH, a charitable organization.
Buckhorn Ever After is one of four novellas in “All For You;” it is the worst (so far.) I get the impression from the many positive reviews, that what readers most like about it is that it revisits the couples and families established in the Buckhorn Brothers series. That said…
The story is dull and the characters are trite. But here’s the plot:
Nadine has had a crush on Shohn since she was 12, and was pushed in the water by a classmate who then teased her on how her wet clothes clung to her chubby but developing body; Shohn - then 14 - came to her defense. Though this may seem a romantic start, over and over as the tale is recounted throughout the book, Shohn underscores how “hot” Nadine was in her state of humiliation. Kind of yuck.
Fast forward a decade, and Nadine owns and operates a doggy daycare, and Shohn is a Park Ranger. They reconnect when Shohn picks up his cousin’s dog, and the character’s inner dialogue reveal all the worsts of Romance troupes:
- Nadine has the hottest body Shohn has ever seen
- Shohn has the hottest body Nadine has ever seen
- Shohn likes that Nadine doesn’t seem interested in him (because every other girls falls all over him and he likes a challenge!)
- Nadine wonders how a hunk like Shohn could ever find a chubby girl like her attractive…
Gag! It’s all so predictable, unimaginative, and frankly insulting…
Shohn adopts a cat so he can have a reason to visit Nadine daily, and they begin a romance. BUT THEN, one night Shohn doesn’t show up, sending his cousin instead who relays that Shohn must work through the night, with three beautiful female campers!!! Nadine assumes he’s moved on and that their affair is over. They next day when she returns his cat at the family property, they have a blow-out but then make-up when they realize it’s all a misunderstanding, declaring "I love you!" in front of the extended family. Just barf. Terrible!
I’ve never read one of M. Foster’s books, but if I didn’t know she was an established author, and I simply had this transcript on 8.5x11 sheets, the storyline is so simple and characters so shallow yet desparate, I would assume it was teenage fiction: like a 16 year old girl acting out a crush by writing her fantasy future.
At least the money from the publishing of this work went to Animal Charities...
Four short tales of attraction aided and abetted by animals to help raise money for a no-kill animal shelter.
Buckhorn Ever After by Lori Foster - Shohn Hudson is one of the next gen of Buckhorn bachelors. He has a legacy from his brother Casey, his dad and uncles that he has managed to live up to so far. He is 25 hot, heroic (a park ranger), and has no plans to settle down anytime soon. When his cousin Amber (Morgan & Misty’s kid) asks him to pick up her dog from doggie daycare he runs into the owner Nadine Moest a blast from his past and a woman way down on his list of I’d do her. That is all about to change.
Imagine Me and You by Maisey Yates – Jace Colter has issues. He is a compulsive neat freak. When his best friend of 14 years Samantha shows up on his doorstep with her large drooling Newfie asking for a place to stay he can hardly say no but how does he deal with the slobbering shedding dog and even more how will he deal with his ever growing attraction to Sam.
Gimme Shelter by Heidi Betts – When Erica’s hot neighbor shows up in the middle of the night with 3 wet bedraggled kittens he has rescued asking for help she has no choice but to let him in. Can she let him into her heart as well?
Partner In Crime by Jules Bennett – Vet tech Saige has a secret. She is an unrepentant thief. That doesn’t stop her from thinking her next door neighbors brother the cop is sizzling.
Anthologies can be hit and miss. This one is mostly a hit. I love the Buckhorn brothers and it was great to see the guys again. I don’t recall reading anything by Maisey Yates before but enjoyed Jace and Samantha’s story. I am a fan of Heidi Betts and the 3 stooges stole my heart. I’ve read and enjoyed Jules Bennetts work before. I was a little conflicted about this story though. All in all though this is a wonderful anthology for a great cause.
Four little novellas featuring animals as a theme. This is a fundraiser for a save the animals project put forward by Lori Foster I believe.
Buckhorn Ever After
I haven't read any of Lori Foster's Buckhorne stories but they seem like an interesting family. Shohn is a bit of a player around town and I can see Nadine's point that she really doesn't want to be seen as just another notch in his bedpost. One of the disadvantages in a small community when you sleep with every girl that moves including employees of the woman you eventually fall in love with.
Totally loved when the big tough man went to get a dog so he would have an excuse to see Nadine and ended up with something entirely different.
Imagine You and Me
This was the most emotional story for me with a classic black moment and all the works. Jace and Samantha have been best friends forever and both have mommy issues that have a critical effect on how they relate to the world and to relationships.
When neat-freak Jace is confronted by sexy Samantha and her drooly, hair-shedding dog their relationship hits that make or break moment.
Gimme Shelter
This has a lot of animals. More even than the Buckhorn one where the heroine runs a pet kennel. I really liked the way the relationship developed and how caring for the animals drew them together. I didn't empathise so much with this heroine with her reasoning behind thinking poorly of the hero without giving him a chance.
Partner in Crime
Who doesn't love a cop, even a cop in forced retirement after an injury? Which is kind of funny when the heroine is a lawbreaking animal thief. Yes indeed. A heroine who steals abused and maltreated animals in the dark of night in tight black spandex. Can anyone say Catwoman quickly? This was a nice little read with a lovely HEA.
The most important thing about this book is that the authors are donating all of their proceeds from Animal Attraction to the Animal Adoption Foundation of Hamilton, OH, a charitable organization.
I enjoyed BUCKHORN EVER AFTER by Lori Foster and SHELTER by Heidi Betts best. Anxious to see if Foster will be following with more Buckhorn stories.
IMAGINE ME AND YOU by Maisey Yates
This story dragged and dragged for me but it did have one of my favorite lines: "Fear was a dumbass state to live in."
PARTNER IN CRIME by Jules Bennett
This is the story of Saige, a woman committed to protecting animals. This quote from the book really sums up the story and why the donation that these authors are making from the book proceeds are important. "The thought of anyone mistreating an animal made her want to commit murder. She knew abuse happened to adults, children, animals, and all of it sickened her. The bullying, the power trips those sick people got from controlling a weaker being was positively an illness. And to harm a defenseless animal.."
I gave it two stars because I liked the story by Maisey Yates. The other stories, not so much. Some of the characters were just too hard to like. I found myself thumbing through pages just to get through. Not a series of stories I would recommend.
go to next Buckhorn Bros
Buckhorn Ever After – Lori Foster
The Morgan brothers have grown sons now… and it’s their time to find romance.
Shohn Hudson – park ranger, and knows his way around women; Nadine Moest, runs animal kennel, a rounded woman, who hasn’t had a man in her life for 2 years; in their teens, Nadine developed early (and large breasted) – and when teased at the lake, Shohn stepped in to defend her – though it is where he developed a love of women’s breasts… they were remote friends – though they both had fantasies about the other over the years… and Shohn notices her, and starts to ‘put the moves on her’. He goes to get a dog from the shelter, as an in to seeing her – and ends up with a cat – who’d had run of the shelter, but when she saw Shohn, she climbed up his pant leg, and wrapped herself around his neck… he had no choice but to bring him home.. He leaves the cat with Nadine during the day, and spends the nights in her bed… until they both know they cannot do without the other… ahhh
About his uncle and his wife: “Morgan in a big chair with Misty on his lap… “Doesn’t matter how old you get, you always have Misty in your lap.” Morgan hugged his wife to his chest. “Old.” He snorted. “Don’t make me get up or you’ll regret it.” “I was just saying.” He did love tweaking Morgan. “Never take for granted the best things in life.” He patted Misty’s hip. “and she is the best.”
Imagine Me and You – Maisy Yates
Jace Colter and Samantha Parker have been best friends for 9 years…and one day, she shows up on his doorstep (his ranch) with Poppy, her Newfoundland. His mom was a pack rat, and indifferent to him – her mom was a vagabound (when she ended up in Jace’s town at 16, she’d lived in 8 states, and 20 cities); they met, and became the best of friends – and though both harbored deep, and sexual feelings for one another, they bury them with the intention of keeping their friendship upmost. She needs a place to stay for the month… and in such closed quarters, they must confront their personal dissatisfactions, and see that the risk of being with the other is all that will fill the emptiness… ahhh
“And it hit him then that if he kept on doing that, he wasn’t any better than his mother. Loving his things more than he loved people. Of course, he was into neat and clean rather than piles of trash. But it was the same idea.”
Gimme Shelter by Heidi Betts
Erica Castillo has a heart for animals, volunteering at the animal shelter – and having 3 cats and 2 dogs at home… and Dean Maxwell, her mechanic, good looking neighbor, knocks on her door at midnight… with three 2-month old kittens that had been abandoned behind his shop… and they bond over the care of the kittens – finding love.
He’s trying to take things slow, and is cooking her dinner… when she lets him know, she’s not really hungry anymore – at least not for food: “Especially after he’d been trying so hard to be good and patient and uncavemannish. But she’d just punched a wooly mammoth-size hole through that, brining his inner Og grunting to the surface.”
Partner in Crime by Jules Bennett
Marble Lake, Kentucky – Abel is babysitting his sister’s cat and guinea pig while his sister is serving in Iraq – and taking pictures of the guinea pig in his ball on the lawn, when a dog grabs the ball, and runs to the lake with it… where he meets Saige, who is convincing the dog to return the ball to her.
He is recovering from being shot in the knee – teaching criminal justice at the college, and hoping to get cleared to go back on the job… she works at the local veterinarian hospital, and steals into yards (at the report of an elderly neighborhood snoop) to steal abused animals.
He catches her coming home after midnight, and helps her carry the malnourished dog into her house… she refuses to confide in him… he watches her, follows her and stops her – she is trying to break into the yard where he had been shot – the owner into drug selling, and dog fights. Knowing she is returning, he calls a break-in to the police – and 8 hours later, she is released, and he has the dog…
He gets cleared to go back to work… but confesses his love – and she gives it right back… he’s sticking around… ahhh
“Obviously Miss Saige of the intriguing green eyes and shapely body didn’t sit around and crochet or play Scrabble for a hobby. There was force in those defined arms he’d seen earlier.”
Buckhorn Ever After – Lori Foster – 3/5 – So sometimes I like this kind of story, where the H/h start out as acquaintances, where one has been pining after the other and the other has been seducing the entire female population of the town. Then, the H has a sudden realization that this girl is hot and he wants to have sex with her, but she’s not so ready to be a conquest. In stories like that, I respect a heroine who refuses to be a conquest – this heroine, Nadine, is reluctant, but goes ahead into a relationship anyway. Her caveat, that no one know about it so that she doesn’t become a conquest in the eyes of everyone else. I also like it when the guy has some sort of realization of how his Casanova lifestyle has affected the likelihood of future relationships – we don’t really get that here. And it’s a pretty hot story (except for the annoying cat). I enjoyed it on the whole.
Imagine Me and You – Maisey Yates – 5/5 – My favorite story in this anthology! I’ve never heard of this author, but she is on my “to read” list. This is the story of Samantha and Jace, who have been friends since high school, but have recently realized an attraction to one another. Sam has been kicked out of her apartment and is staying with Jace, but close quarters don’t help their avoidance of the attraction. And neither do their personality differences help their living situation. Both are afraid of ruining the friendship, but watching them come together and realize that love is worth it is delightfully angsty and the sex is so hot! Awesome story!
Gimme Shelter – Heidi Betts – 3/5 – Erica and Dean are neighbors and acquaintances. She’s an animal lover and rescuer, he’s a mechanic. He rescues 3 little kittens and brings them to her to help him take care of them and she thinks he’s a hero. There little romance is pretty sweet as Dean starts to realize this is someone he can be serious about and Erica just keeps putting him up on that hero pedestal. There romance is cute up until Erica goes a bit crazy…
Partner in Crime – Jules Bennett – 3/5 – Abel is a retired cop with an injury looking to get back on the force and house/petsitting for his sister in the military. Saige is the vet tech next-door-neighbor with a rescue complex (who literally steals into the night to rescue abused dogs). With a healthy dose of attraction and some tension over Saige’s methods and the story is pretty decent. Although we don’t get to know the characters all that well, they were rather intriguing. I do not like Abel’s interference…well more that I didn’t like Saige’s reaction. And just a minor nitpick – but was Fluffy a boy or a girl? At times she was a “him” and at others she was a “her.”
The worst thing about this book was that Lori Fosters story was so short! I love the Buckhorn series and Shohn's story was such a nice little addition. I loved that Nadine didn't just give into Shohn right away and made him work for it a bit. Pretty much any of the scenes with Shohn and Louie we ridiculously cute. The two of them together were so funny. It was also nice getting to see some of the previous characters and their children. I'm hoping that this isn't the end of this series because I don't think I could ever get tired of the Buckhorns.
Imagine Me and You by Maisey Yates was an ok story, but not one of my favorites. It was a little cliche for me. Boy and girl are friends, but don't want to ruin that friendship by trying a relationship. Sexual tension gets to be too much for them and they get together anyway. I liked the story, but I felt like I was reading a story that I had read before.
Gimme Shelter by Heidi Betts was a pretty cute story. Dean was so cute with the kittens and it was fun watching Erica teach him how to take care of them. I really liked how this story did center a lot around the animals (seeing the book is suppose to be about animals) and not just the love story between Dean and Erica. My only problem with this story was I was a little disappointed with Erica at the end. It seems really drastic that she wouldn't continue a relationship with Dean if he had given up the kittens. She put him on such a high pedestal and when he didn't live up to her high expectations she was just going to give up. That doesn't seem like she really cared about him, she just cared about how she wanted him to be. Other then that I really liked this story and I might just look into more of Heidi Betts books.
Partner in Crime by Jules Bennett was a pretty good story. It was interesting seeing Abel, the ex cop and Saige, the criminal dog napper falling in love. It was kind of funny watching Saige try to work around Abel's tendency to want to know what was always going on. I liked that Saige was looking for ways to give dogs better lives, but I'm not sure that I liked how she went about it. She never had any information on the people's situation or what was wrong with the dogs, she just went in over night and took them all. I love my dog and would do anything for her, but for a while she was so sick she easily could have looked neglected to someone who didn't know the situation. It took the vet a long time to find out what was wrong with her and during that time she became very skinny and looked really bad. If that was the case with any of the dogs that she stole then she actually did something horrible and the owners and the dog would have been in a much worse situation. I tried not to let that bother me too much and just enjoy the story though. Overall I thought it was a pretty nice end to a great book.
Buckhorn Ever After by Lori Foster - Shohn Hudson (Sawyer and Honey's youngest son who is now 26) is a park ranger who has quite the reputation with the ladies. He's never done anything to dispute it but when his childhood friend Nadine Moest owner of Animal House Pet hotel gives Shohn her opinion on his flirty ways with women suddenly his eyes are open to seeing Nadine in a new light and he decides he is going to pursue Nadine even though she doesn't take him seriously at first due to her insecurities over her size. This was a great love story along with getting to visit with most of the Hudson's and getting to meet there grown children. I would love one day to see Amber's book (Morgan and Misty's daughter) who was the matchmaker of the family.
Imagine Me and You by Maisey Yates - This was a cute friend to lovers story. Jace and Samanatha have been friends for 14 years. There childhoods left them with a few issues but the one common thing was always there friendship. When Samantha asks to stay at Jace ranch with her large dog for month until she can buy a place Jace who is a clean freak panics a bit cause he knows a dog and Sam are havoc on wheels but he cant turn his bestfriend away. These two kept there lust for each other buried so deep that when it did come out it was explosive. But Sam's fear of not ever wanting to get involved too deeply for fear of abandonment almost axes the relationship before it ever gets started.
Gimme Shelter by Heidi Betts - This was another cute read. Dean and Erica are neighbors and he knew she had animals so late one stormy night he shows up at her door with 3 tiny little kittens he found almost drowning in the alley behind his work. She shows him how to nurse them and helps him get them healthy again. He was so cute in his handling of the kittens and named them the 3 Stooges. The attraction between Dean and Erica was instantaneous. Dean was a very likable man and I'd love to have one :)
Partner in Crime by Jules Bennett - Saige is a thief.. She steals animals from cruel owners. In her mind she is doing a good deed but in the mind of her cute neighbor who just happens to be an ex-cop she's breaking the law and he turns her in.
These two couldn't be more opposite - he is straight laced abide by the law and she is break the rules for the greater cause. But we all know that sometimes makes for a hot pairing and with tons of cute animals this was sweet read.
I only read Lori Foster's story.
Rating: B+
Buckhorn Ever After is a short story in the Animal Attraction anthology.
Shohn and Nadine’s story might only be 5 chapters long but it still had all the signature elements I’ve come to love about Lori Foster’s Buckhorn Brothers romances.
Shohn is Casey’s (from The Buckhorn Legacy) little brother. He is first introduces a flirty ten-year old. Now he is a sexy 25-year-old Park Ranger. And like all the other men in the family Shohn is loved by all the single ladies in and around Buckhorn, KY.
Buckhorn Ever After is a short but sexy and sweet romance between Shohn, the young ladies man and Nadine the girl next door that’s had a crush on Shohn for years. Shohn has always thought of Nadine as one of guys or so she thinks. He noticed when she started developing into a curvy young woman back in school but he didn’t have those kinds of feelings for her. But lately something has changed and he is seeing her in a new sexy way.
Lori Foster has delivered another great HEA to the Buckhorn Brothers series and I love the jump in time that Lori Foster did with this short story. It will allow us to see the kids of the original cast of characters get their HEA. I can’t wait to read the next novel, Back to Buckhorn featuring an all grown up Garrett. I’m just betting he makes one hella sexy firemen.
This book is an anthology that includes Buckhorn Brothers series book #5.5. This is a story that can be read alone. For complete understanding of the series, I recommend reading it in order. For purposes of this review, we will concentrate on this story, Buckhorn Ever After.
Nadine has known Shohn all her life. They grew up together. To suddenly have his interest is quite exciting. She does not want, however, to just be a notch on a bedpost for him. Yet the attraction is still there.
Shohn has just realized all that Nadine brings to his life. She is good friends with his cousin, who he is also close to. She is helpful, and a great community member as well. Now, he is interested in her as a woman. Can he convince her to take him seriously?
This was an amazing book. I loved all the stories inside. This story in particular, was so breathtaking. I enjoyed reading about them falling for one another. The laughter, the tears, and that was just me while reading. Such great banter. Love this series so much.
As an animal lover, I enjoy reading romances that feature dogs, cats, etc. When I picked up this book, I was mostly interested in the Lori Foster story. I've read all the Buckhorn books and was happy to see a short story continuing it. Fans of LF won't be disappointed.
There isn't much for me to review about this book as the storys have animals in them and have romances. For the most part, the heros and heroines seem to already know one another or have some kind of connection, so the idea of them getting romantically involved so soon after the story starts is believeable.
Other than that, there's not much to say about the book. If you enjoy animals and have a dental appointment, a plane ride, etc, take this book along. You can read each story in segments and not have to worry about getting involved in a heavy novel.
Loved visiting the "Buckhorn Brothers" and family again. This first story was about Shohn (Sawyer and Honey's son) who is now 25 and his story of falling in love with Nadine who owns a dog kennel. They known each other all their lives but never more than friends. Until Shohn finally opens his eyes....
I did enjoy the other stories too...
Imagine Me With You .... Was a steamy story of friends turned lovers. This was a first time read for me with this author.
Gimme Shelter...sweet tale and another first time read with this author.
Partner in Crime .... Gotta love a story with a hot ex cop and the characters are nicely written. Love helping abused animals. I like Jules Bennett's style of writing.
I purchased Animal Attraction for two reasons, first my favorite author Lori Foster had a story in this book and second because all proceeds went to a no kill animal shelter. Animal Attraction included four short stories by four different authors. Lori Foster's Buckhorn Everafter was just what I expected. Her books have never disappointed me. This was a follow up to her Buckhorn Series and I love that she goes back to a story and lets you know what is going on years later. As a bonus there were three other stories Imagine Me and You by Maisey Yates, Gimme Shelter by Heidi Betts and Partner in Crime by Jules Bennett - all three were good short stories.
I purchased this e-book because of the Lori Foster's Buckhorn #6 about Shohn Buckhorn--a son of the original couples in the Buckhorn series. It was so good, I wanted to go back and re-read the first five again!
The other titles were:
Imagine Me and You by Maisey Yates - I was really impressed with this book. I will definitely be looking up this author to read more.
Gimme Shelter by Heidi Betts - I just couldn't get into this story...it seemed too contrived. I didn't finish it.
Partner In Crime by Jules Bennett - This one was okay, but not great.
As usual, anthologies are kind of hit-and-miss.
I'm not gonna lie but I bought this book only to ready Buckhorn Ever After. It was nice to go back and see old characters and how their lives changed or I should say children have grown up. Shohn is just like every other male in his family, a smart, sexy gentleman who melts the panties off the women. Nadine has lusted after him since they were teens but apparently it took his brain a long time to catch up.
This was a short and sexy love story. If you've read Lori's other Buckhorn books this is a must read in the series!
This review is based only on the story by Lori Foster.
I like the Buckhorn Brothers series, so when I saw that this book was set in that series I was excited. I really liked how with this book the kids of the original brothers are now grown up. As much as I liked the romance between Shohn and Nadine, I really liked seeing all the cousins interact. I find it funny that one cousin in particular, Amber seemed to ride heard on everyone in the family. I would love to see a full length book with her.
I picked this up for the Lori Foster story. It was fun to check in with that storyline again. I read the next two stories and enjoyed them, but ran out of time for the fourth story. This anthology was create to support animal shelters As a non pet person I did not find this book to be heavy handed in pushing its agenda. All the stories I read were lighthearted and fun to read. I'd be happy to read such an anthology again.
Lori Foster - 3 stars
Cute continuation of the Buckhorn saga... loved those guys and their kids grew up to be just as hot! Wish it had been longer, a little too surface level for me, it didn't really delve into anything other than them getting together. But still cute.
Purchased this for Lori's story and haven't read the other stories yet...
I must explain my 1 star rating. I LOVE Lori Foster and if the book were only her it would be a five star!! I enjoyed each novella until I got to Jules Bennett. I do not like romance with black/white, so I couldn't even finish it because it just turns my stomach. I probably wouldn't have bought this book had I known what Jules Bennett's section was about.
This is a collection of 5 short romance novels/novellas. They were very typical romance novels-all about animal lovers. They are very much fluff stories. I didn't dislike them. I enjoyed them, but I want MORE than just fluff and usually I want longer stories. I'd take a chance on any of these authors again. The reason I even picked this up is because I love Lori Foster. :)
