In book two of the new Dance Divas series, Miss Toni decides to shake things up for an upcoming round of dance competitions. She wants to see Liberty and Rochelle perform duets--with the same boy! The girls--who aren't the best of friends to say the least--must dance with Hayden, one of the cutest twelve-year-old boys in town. But things take a dramatic leap when both of them develop their first crushes. Now they aren't just dancing for first place . . . but to win Hayden's heart.

Dance Divas is a new series from Cupcake Club author Sheryl Berk. The second book, Two to Tango, pits dancers Liberty and Rochelle against each other in a competition to be allowed to perform a duet with a cute boy named Hayden at an upcoming show. The girls already have trouble getting along, so when they each develop feelings for Hayden things turn ugly.
There is quite a bit of ugliness in this book. The girls' cattiness stems from their dance instructor's ongoing feud with a rival dance instructor, and the demands she places on the young girls are over-the-top and clearly self-serving. There is very little to the characters beyond their dancing abilities, and not even much to like about the generically masculine Hayden.
Two to Tango may be a must-buy for libraries with lots of Cupcake Club fans, but most can comfortably pass on this series and direct readers instead to the Dance Class graphic novels by Beka or Ballet Shoes and Dancing Shoes by Noel Streatfeild.
It was a great book. It was funny to read and I loved the interesting characters in the book. The fight between Liberty and Rochelle kept me reading this book. I can't believe they both had to dance with the guy they both liked but I am happy Hayden ended up with Rochelle <3
