Club Decadence Book Two

Special Forces Chief Warrant Officer Rick Spencer is back from Afghanistan and ready to reacquaint himself with his wife of 3 years. But something is wrong. They have loved each other for a decade but have never really lived together. Now they must learn how to live as ordinary couple, as ordinary as an old fashioned traditional relationship can be.

Regan, for her part, has been an independent woman with her husband oversees. Now she must hand the reigns back to her dominant head of household. And what about her secret? Can she trust him or could it ruin what they were trying to rebuild. Can she ask him to make that sacrifice?

As Maddie Taylor continues her series of these oh so sexy doms and their feisty submissive, we return to Club Decadence for more BDSM fun and games. We meet up with old friends as they continue their journey through DD relationships. And we delve into the intrigue and danger as the ex-Green Berets of Rossi Security work to rid their home state of Texas of the insidious evil of a Mexican drug cartel. Rick must keep Regan safe, even if that means spanking her to keep her safe from herself.

This romantic and at times heartbreaking story contains non-consensual and consensual domestic discipline and spanking, including mild BDSM elements.

Emotional and disturbing

So, I said I wouldn't read any more in the series after reading the first book, Megan's story. I caved and purchased Rick and Regan's story.
I find myself drawn to the BDSM genre, mostly I think because I just don't understand it.
This book certainly didn't do anything to push understanding.
She is seriously depressed and full of bad medication creating all kinds of side effects including unstable emotional responses and his solution is to use paddles, tawse and cane?
He is more concerned about the DD aspect than her emotional well being.
You either tell me your secret or I will stick you on a psychiatric ward for evaluation.
You hurt my mates feelings so he can cane you too.
I found my empathy was all for Regan, where was he when she desperately needed emotional support? Off being the big bad Dom at the club and isolating her further.
She needed understanding and supporting not a weekly thrashing and a nightly spanking.
There are some errors but nothing to get irritated about.
There are a few plot holes but I seriously couldn't be bothered about them.
There is a vast amount of DD punishment, some swearing and some sex with a BDSM twist.
Romance? No unless the leash counts??
Would I recommend the series? Only if the genre is your jam

So so

Struggled to like any of the characters. The women were uninteresting and seemed to lack intelligence. The guys seemed only interested in punishment and there was no chemistry.

This was just OK for me. The story of Rick (Regan's Dom and husband, member of Ross Security) and Regan (Rick's sub and wife, sister of Megan). Very slow and dragging story with very little excitement. This installment focused on Regan's need and desire to and the issues she went through because of it. This drama caused serious problems in Regan and Rick's marriage, D/s and DD relationship. Regan really came off as an airhead. Her behavior was not of a 32 year old married woman. She was very disappointing. This story also contained spanking after spanking after spanking. It became very boring to read. I was expecting updates on the drama from book 1, but there were very few updates. This was just OK.

Why Not 5 Stars?

Edit, Edit, Edit. Again, this book contained too many edit mistakes and it became distracting.

Did not keep the first book's drama going. Added new drama which really did not make sense and it was very short lived. I have no idea where this is going.

Cheesy dialogue once again. Do people say 'naughty girl' anymore? It just feels wrong.

Regan's crazy head talk got on my last nerve. I really do not like to be inside a character's head and they are asking themselves a ton of questions. Does he like her better than me? Will I be happier? Will he miss me? Will he be able to move on without me? *Ugh!!* This is a story killer for me.

REGAN AND RICK

The Club Decadence series includes a BDSM club owned by a group of former Special Forces men who served together, and they also run the Rossi Security agency together. This is a series that has dominant men, submissive women, mystery, suspense, and danger, with erotic romances. One of the men is Rick Spencer, former Chief Warrant Officer in Special Forces, who has exited from the military and returned home to his wife, Regan, where he is ready to start a family. They have been married for years, but he has been overseas most of that marriage.

The story’s plot will have Rick and Regan facing serious issues that will affect their marriage because of her keeping secrets, and not communicating, and it nearly destroys them. For the vast majority of their marriage, they have been apart, only together for short periods of time, and now things are changing. Rick is ready for his dream of a large family, yet Regan learns that may never happen. Rather than trusting her husband with the devasting information, she seeks medical help on her own, and it is disastrous. Those secrets; lies by omission, and lack of trust, also lead to unsubstantiated worry that he wants another woman and that it would be best to leave him so that can happen.

For me, this isn’t an easy review to write, and I have pondered long and hard on what to say, or not to say. Overall, the story was intriguing, the characters and their interactions interesting, sometimes questionable, but the overall plot was for the most part, plausible. What I had a problem with is that this story was supposed to be revised and re-edited and yet, it is missing words in sentences, incomplete sentences, and the wrong words used and it became annoying. I invested hours of my time reading a book that needs serious editing, which makes it hard to give a raving review when that isn’t honest. The ending was incomplete—no real resolution except for multiple levels of punishment—some in private—others in groups and club settings. I would not call it a cliffhanger, but an introduction to the next book is how it ended.

NOTE: I was contacted by the author and she informed me that the errors were corrected.

Well, I tried hard to understand the focus of the story. I threw in the towel at 54% when I realized the plot was simply this--a woman must have a man punish her daily in order to have a fulfilling life.

Now there are many who would agree with that, and feel there's no harm there, consenting adults and all. True. But this story goes waaaaay beyond that.

The male lead punishes the female lead relentlessly, and typically to suppress her natural responses to many natural things. She struggles with depression, so he spanks her for not taking care of herself. He rarely listens to what she says, so she remains silent, so he spanks her for that. He's ready to have a baby, but she's struggling with fertility. He doesn't give her the opportunity to share her feelings. Instead, he talks over her concerns, then punishes her when she clams up or acts out. His endless control isn't what she needs now, but he continues down his path despite his frustration, even though it's clearly not working.

I get that a slave/master relationship can be appealing. But I can't fathom that working without complete open communication. Yes, she clammed up, but who wouldn't when barreled over by a master who's never wrong and always in charge?

I found myself increasingly frustrated with this story. Hot sex? You bet. Romance? No.

I hate leaving a book unfinished, but I just couldn't stand this. Boring beyond belief. A heroine who behaves like a child so much that I wasn't sure she was competent to even enter into a DD relationship.
The worst though was the multiple POV shifts. People I didn't know or care about, who weren't an integral part of this story all of a sudden I'm hearing what's in their heads.
Also, a spanking administered by the brother-in-law in front of her sister, which her sister is unhappy about.
Nope.
Not for me.
I'm done.
Life is short and there are too many books to read. This one pissed me off because it actually turned me off of reading for a while. Bad, bad book.

I just couldn't get into this book. Regan and Rick are married and in a D/s and DD relationship. Regan finds out she can't get pregnant, and starts an avalanche of deception and lies. It seemed like most of the book was Regan feeling sorry for herself, or Rick being angry with her and either threatening her with punishment or spanking her. Maybe that was the purpose of the book? I particularly like either character.

A riveting second book in the series that I guarantee you’ll find riveting reading

Chief Warrant Officer Rick Spencer has been waiting to retire from his job so that he can settle permanently at home with the love of his life and then together all being well they have previously spoken about having a family of their own.

Regan his wife has been on full overdrive talking and dreaming of his job finally allowing him to permanently to retire and come home to her and to anyone else that knows him, she has been dancing on cloud nine but he can sense that something is going on as she is no longer herself but she is not telling.

Now she is in a no-win situation she knows how observant he is and that he never misses a thing, also he knows that she is simply not herself and there has to be a major reason and he will discover what it is and then he will sort it out.

Rean has started to pull away from Rick and he knows that she is not happy about him doing the job that had not bee his dream and he has already given up enough and she knows that he will do the work but why should he have to. The job working for Rossi security is also dangerous and Regan fears for his life, she could not and will not risk losing him simply for a pay-check, she could not live without him in her life.

He is determined to remind her that she is the only thing that he loves and cares for and if she fails to realise soon, he is going to take action to put her mind right, even if he has to shock her a little. He loves her far too much to allow any harm to fall on her shoulders and life would not be the same without her in it.

I assure you that you will love every moment of this book it is simply a fantastic read.

Wowser this one definitely tugged the heart strings in Rick and Regan’s story following on from the first book in the series and how Regan struggled with the pressures with fertility issues that can just spiral out of control when your self esteem is very low, as Regan struggled with telling Rick their dream of a family is in jeopardy…
With the cartel threat still in the background, this story was more based on Regan’s struggles to open up but I thought Rick could have stepped up to find out more when Regan was off the rails…but all in all this was still a good read for me..

This book has everything that a reader could want. Interesting plotline that draws the reader into the lives of Rick and Reagan as they navigate through life after the army. There are plenty of different elements including some violence and lots of hot erotic sexy scenes and well deserved spankings. It is long but it reads quickly because it's very well written and described, each word is well thought out. I voluntarily read an advanced reader copy of this book and I recommend it. This is an entertaining and enjoyable story.

I didn't care for this one so much. I didn't really like Regan. This book seemed to be more about her. Even more than her DD relationship with Rick.

There also didn't seem to be as much about the cartel in this book. It was still a decent read.

I read this in the Club Decadence Boxed Set via Kindle Unlimited.

I spent the first hal of this story thinking ‘just tell him’ but I understand why she couldn’t. Rick and Regan’s story is heartbreaking in many respects but also full of hope. Mistress Gloria as a doctor was perfect and thank goodness or Regan might still be seeing a quack doctor. I am really enjoying this series and can’t wait for Dex and Elana’s story.

This one wasn’t as good as the first one for me primarily because of Reagan... so many times she could have fixed the problems but kept being ridiculous and selfish...Rick on the other hand also drove me crazy because if he would have opened his eyes he would have figured it out I think...

forever indeed

I could feel her pain, having also lived with infertility and depression. Fortunately hubby was around and there was no way to hide.
They were all quite well written.
I liked the way they all worked together to help.

Not for me. I was thinking to stop reading it all together, but decided to finish it for a honest review.

This is book 2 of a series. I read it as a stand alone and will not be reading part three.

The writing needs editing. From half towards the end there were a lot of wrong sentences.

I didn't like Regan - at all. She seemingly has it all. Is in a D/s and DD (domestic discipline?) relationship for 9 years but violates the the trust in a very big and worst way. Her husband Rick knows there is something wrong but other than spanking, doesn't do a lot to push her on it. She cries a lot.... What a big tell is, because she had a bubbly persona? I could not imagine that at all. I also didn't read book 1 of this series.

A lot of drama and to much unnecessary repeats of information you already know.

In the final part it's about her big punishment and after that is finished she is forgiven....luckily her husband needs more time to trust her again. As it al is very unbelievable. But when he asks if she would consider a threesome the isn't honest again. He knows it but doesn't address that issue. With the DD and D/s in there relationship, you would think his would be finished with her bullshit. Good thing is that they go to couples therapy and she is on meds....

Al in al a depressing story. In real life people have to deal with issues that are described in this book. To make the story more believable there is a component of depression in it. I went with that, but the lying and burying of these kinds of problems was the worst. I like strong women who know when to let their partners know when they themselves can't deal with a big issue.

Emotional

I have been known to be emotional when reading. Regan and Ricks story had me in tears all day & night. I felt the drama, the rollercoaster Regan was on with all the ups, downs, twists and turns. The pain that was felt by the Doms...loyalty of their friends. Freaken great read!

***UPDATE***RE-READ***
Regan's emotions hit hard. May be not all of us, but most have tried to push the other way so they could live their best life. But it's the ones who know all our quirks that keep us grounded and bring us back. Peaches and Bears story is like no other -it's what many strive for in life and when they can't get it they read about it. Reading is the safe place to life out the dreams that are to scary to grab for real. That's the way I read 'You Said Forever...' Wishing for a Bear and a Captain to lean on. Very emotional filled story line - Great Read!!!.

I originally read and reviewed You Said Forever in 2018. I loved the book then but now Maddie Taylor is re-releasing it in 2023 and has updated, polished and added to it making an already excellent romance even better. She spins a story of how disappointment, lies and deceit can cause misery, self loathing, depression and a downward spiral to destruction. Regan Spencer's life is off the rails because she's harboring a critical secret from her husband. He's at his wit's end in trying to figure out what's causing Regan's behavior. Not only is it messing with their marriage, it's putting her at risk. What's the old saying? The truth shall set you free. Here's hoping before it's too late.

I love this story. I have been a fan of Maddie Taylor for years now. I loved rereading Rick and Regan's story. I like the changes that were made to the original story.

Rick and Regan have been married for years but something has changed recently. Rick doesn't know what is going on in his lovely wife's head and she refuses to talk to him. Regan is suffering but she doesn't want to tell her husband what is going on. What will happen when he discovers her secrets?

The second book in the series and it features Regan and Rick. The story begins at the end of the first book.

This was such an emotional and heartbreaking story when we find out Reagan's secret and see how she struggles with it. How everything is breaking apart around her and she loses herself.

We see Rick watching the woman he loves falling apart but not able to help.

It was a very power read and Maddie Taylor does an amazing job writing about such a sensitive and difficult subject.

Not as good

I'm enjoying this series, but this one was not one of my favorites. Regan was a selfish bratty girl, and it didn't get much better. I understand that there were some mental health lessons to be learned, but she seemed able to get away with her secrets even while under security. I did enjoy staying caught up on Tony and Megan, and Rick was really concerned and caring. I'm still looking the series and looking forward to meeting more of the guys in the Club.

This is Rick, and Regans story. It’s a good story about dealing with trust, fertility issues, and depression. It has a more somber feel but still has the suspense and bdsm/dd - Maddie is known for.
