Jeremy works in an office that you might recognize. There's an ally, a love interest, a demanding boss, the office jerk and a conniving assistant. He doesn't love his job, but puts up with it. That all changes one day when he cuts out of the conference room by a door he's never used before. In a moment, nothing is the same, but is it better?
Top Review of the Early 5 Stars! Twilight Zone revisited. Good Read! It's been a hot minute since I have watched an episode of the Twilight Zone, but this short book definitely gives me those vibes. The main character is a struggling office worker with maybe not the best attitude and approach to things. He gets to see a different version of how life could look. What does he choose to do? It's a quick fun story with a lot of fun details. I really enjoyed reading this book! Check it out!
As a lifelong lover of books, I’ve always had a great appreciation for writers and their craft. Over the course of my 50+ years living in different places around the world, I’ve written a few things, but never took the time to sit and try to write down any of the books I’ve dreamed up. In 2021 that changed. A new opportunity to share stories, one episode at a time, prompted me to try my hand at it.
I never could have imagined the positive response my writing received and now I’m happy to expand those stories to a wider audience to build upon what I’ve already written. Nothing would make me happier than to know that you enjoy my stories. Please find me on social media @HunterCAuthor to send me your feedback.
About me: I grew up in the Midwest and went to a big state school known as much for their football team as anything else. I studied English Literature and History. It was there that I met my wife and we fell in love. We were married when I was in graduate school and during our first few years working after graduation, God showed us the opportunities to be involved in His work around the world.
Since 2000, we’ve lived outside of the United States, having many amazing experiences and meeting people from around the globe. My experiences traveling and my background in counseling are highly influential in my writing.
"The Third Door" is a short story by Chad Chadwick that takes place in an office environment. It follows the story of an employee who discovers a door that leads him to an alternate universe, which is also set in an office. The protagonist then compares the differences between the two worlds and decides which one to stay in.
The book is an easy and quick read, thanks to the writing style. However, I found the stereotype of the beautiful, manipulative woman using her looks to get ahead to be a bit disappointing. The author could have added more backstory and depth to the story, but since it's a short story, it might not have been feasible.
If you enjoyed reading "Coraline," you might like this book too. Please note that it isn't a horror novel.
This story was really disappointing. I liked the premise of there being an alternate universe, but that's all the book was. Jeremy discovered a third door and it goes into an alternate universe. That's it. That's the story. No conclusion. This definitely needed to be fleshed out more. I would have liked to see Jeremy explore the other universe more. What is this door? Why can't anyone else see it? What would happen if he stayed in the other universe for more than an hour or two? I realize this is a short story but there was no plot.
Wacky, but interesting, characters in an office setting. The story is about a typical day in a typical office that somehow turns into an upside-down world. The ending redeems all.
