[Siren Classic Erotic Alternative Paranormal Romance, M/M, werewolves, HEA] Charlie Amos always wanted a werewolf for a mate. At thirteen, he convinced his two best friends and his little brother to participate in a "love spell" ceremony on New Year’s Eve. Each boy picked their own paranormal being that each of them wanted to be mated with forever. Even though Charlie and his friends knew the ceremony was probably just wishful thinking, it was never forgotten. Years later, when Charlie meets James Williams, a spark of attraction soon turns into a heated courtship. But James has a secret. He’s a one-hundred-and-fifty-year-old werewolf, who instinctively knows Charlie is his mate. Not one to keep a secret from the man he loves, James is determined to tell Charlie his secret as soon as the time is right. But when he finds out about the love spell from another paranormal friend, both men wonder if the feelings they have for one another are nothing but magic, or is it true love? ** A Siren Erotic Romance

One thing I know when I read one of Andi Anderson's stories is that it will be a sweet sappy feel good read.
The blurb sums this one up very well, it's a really fast sweet read, very low on angst and no conflict. It's a nice story for in between darker and angsty stories and the touch of paranormal is always fun.
Charlie and his friends did a magic spell as kids and now it looks like their wishes are coming true.
Charlie is getting his werewolf and it looks like Austin is going to get his Witch...I really really want to read Tyler's story...

Oh ETA there is an abundance of the use of 'sunshine' as an endearment, it doesn't really bother me, but I know that it might bother others, so I thought I'd mention it.

I really enjoyed reading this! Cute, sweet story and the love scenes were passionate. Loved how it all began as it reminded me of my childhood. I felt a sense of nostalgia reading the bonfire scene. There was a slight overreaction between Charlie and James when it came to the big reveal but I was already hooked that it didn't matter to me. Looking forward to more of this series.

The ending was a little bit disappointing it was not really resolved. Why bother telling us that there is a way to break the spell if the MCs were just going to live with it?

I really, really liked this one. It had a good beginning and a great ending. I know this is going to be a series I am going to look forward to.

Charlie Amos always wanted a werewolf for a mate.

For once, an author decided that emoting angsts are something that many readers do not really like to read in their books.

Sure, the angst was there, so was the drama, and heck, so was the steamy sexy scenes. The author, however, did not delve too much on marketable formulas to make the books commercial.

Readers get, instead, a straight out paranormal romance between a supernatural and a human. The mating ritual was well done, none of that crying and emotive "mine" that seems to be cut and parcel for all of these plots, and none of the over-acting main characters who just over-react for the sake of it.

The prologue solidly set the storyline for this new series. It was well done, with the right elements to make it a solid back-story, and tells the readers of who will get what in their own books when they get published.

I am sooooo looking forward to this series as it promises to be a straightforward type of entertainment without all those formulaic thingies that many are becoming victim to.

4.5 stars. As kids, Charlie, his little brother Austin, and his best friends, Tyler and Christopher, go out one night and for fun perform a midnight love spell to beckon their future lovers—all wishing for men. The catch is each one chooses their favorite paranormal being: Charlie asks for a werewolf, Austin a witch, Tyler a fairy, and Christopher a vampire. Forward ten years. The four boys are adults, each of them gay, and the love spell back then is just a dim memory.

Then one day Charlie meets James, the gorgeous owner of a bar and grill. The attraction is instantaneous. James is a werewolf who has longed for a mate for centuries. As they start their heated affair, both feel the need to share their secret. Charlie can’t wait around for a miraculous werewolf prince, and James needs his mate to know he’s a wolf. But when secrets spill out, what if the love and lust they feel isn’t real but just the result of the spell?

I liked this story a lot. There’s a lot of potential to the world-building here, and I hope this author fulfills that promise in the following stories. The passion here is undeniable. The attraction is close to the skin, palpable, powerful, and that makes the sex scenes a hot read. What took out a star for me is that we don’t really get to know the men very well, James especially. I longed for more background, more knowledge of their past, their families, their hobbies. You know, who they are when they aren’t having sex. James’s wolf history especially is left awfully blank.

This reads to me like the first in a four part series, and I’m looking forward to reading the next one. I hope it’s Austin. It’s because of him that I added a half a star back. He’s a great guy, sassy and strong, and his possible witchy love interest, Bronwyn, is a real piece of work. I can’t wait to see what comes next.

Review: I liked the prologue t this story how it sets the stage well for the series. It’s cute how the young boys confessed they are all gay to each other and do the spell to choose what they think would be their perfect mates. Then this story starts its years later and Charlie still hasn’t found that perfect lover. All the boys have grown up and that day has been brushed aside. Charlie is in a bar with his brother Austin when he meets James the owner. The attraction is really strong and very mutual.
James is a werewolf and has all but given up on finding his mate until now. The strong pull for Charlie is unlike anyone he has ever met and his wolf wants him also.
This is a very cute but typical boy meets man (werewolf) they are destined to be mates, story. It’s very cute and romantic but pretty cliché and over the top sugary sweet. Having said that doesn’t mean I didn’t like it. I loved it, since there are times this is just what I need. A good super romantic escape from the day to day grind. Who doesn’t dream of a love this powerful? It has a few twists and turns and a happy ending. This is one of those stories that make you smile and its very hot!
I recommend this to anyone that loves a good sweet romance, with plenty of magic, werewolves, witches, and super-hot mansex.

I think I like the idea of this book more than I liked the book itself.

The whole book seemed very rushed to me. I will still read book 2, but I'm hoping for a lot more substance to it.

I liked the premise of this, and I think the whole Practical Magic spell was very cute, so I mostly enjoyed this. I wasn't such a fan of the sappy dialogue with "Sunshine" and so on.

I did like this and think it's a promising start to a new series, so I look forward to the next one!

Amazing new series!! The circle of friends series follows a group of 4 gay boys who cast a spell, each for a different paranormal mate. Fast forward to ten years later and it begins! It starts off with Charlie finding his werewolf mate James.
I cant wait for the next installments!

The story got sweet but the dialogue never got sappy or just plain ridiculous like some stories about mates. It was short but I don't know that there was much more to add to this story. I really like it.
