Stuck With The Enemy Seal

Rate this book
A beautiful billionaire in danger. A grumpy Ex-SEAL bodyguard. And powers of attraction that will break all the rules. Some people call me a billionaire heiress. But I’d rather they call me Ava Larson, founder and CEO of Digital Wave Solutions. I am an entrepreneur focused on solving problems for people. I am proud of the business I built all by myself—without Dad’s money. I make my own decisions. So when my father hired Alex Kipling as my personal bodyguard—without my consent—I was not happy. I don’t think I need a defender. Not only is Alex an Ex-Navy SEAL, he is disturbingly well-built. And he has his own ideas about keeping me safe from the stalker who recently sent threats to me at my company. Sparks flew between us from Day One. As the threats grow more serious, though, I find myself stuck in Alex’s presence more and more. And there is more to him beyond the eagle eyes, stoic attitude and the hard body I find so f**ing attractive in spite of myself. He is smart, caring, and compassionate. And completely at my service . This beautiful man can be gentle, but he knows when to be rough, too. My heart might need a protector, after all.

There are some things I enjoyed about this book, the first I’ve read from this author:

* Ava is a strong, independent, smart woman who doesn’t become weak and fragile just because she’s facing a threat
* Alex isn’t a stereotypical book Navy SEAL … he believes the bad outweighed the good during his service, he’s insecure and he doubts his worth
* We were presented with several options for who the stalker might be
* Ava and Alex were upfront early on regarding their feelings
* No third-act breakup
* When Alex is hurt, he doesn’t magically go back to work 2 days later

Unfortunately, the longer I read, the more I found things I didn’t like:

* Chapters 23-26 in particular were unnecessary and added nothing profound to the story
* The big stalker showdown was over almost immediately
* What hospital “has no phone signal”? Especially when Ava is there later happily taking phone calls and surfing the Web?
* Even if the “phone signal” was down, you’re telling me there was not a land line to be had in that entire building?
* Why did Ava not snatch her apartment key back from her dad?
* Why did they not run the registration on the stalker’s car to see who it belonged to?
* What happened to Jacob?
* What happened with Rachel and Daniel?
* Ava says that Alex taught her the “importance of extending a helping hand,” but she was already doing that through her other charity work and by making affordable apps to help small businesses; she makes out like she was a spoiled little rich princess before she met Alex but we know she wasn’t
* Ava stresses they “have to make sure” their charity is non-profit but all charities are non-profit

The book was looking like a 4-star contender early on, but the last 25% just ruined all the goodwill it had built up. It became trite, covering the same ground over and over: love, joy, hope, dreams, love, joy, hope, dreams blah blah blah. It was really annoying and I literally had to force myself to finish reading. It felt like the author was trying hard to be poetic but ended up being sappy instead.

Ava and her billionaire father are at odds and she has made her own company and money on her own, without his help. Now there are threats happening, a stalker, and her father sends ex-SEAL Alex to be her bodyguard. Over time he proves his worth as the threats step up and he gets shot and almost left in a fire. The big mystery is who is behind it all.
Loved the characters, their personalities, strengths and banter. The storyline has non-stop action and unexpected situations, along with danger, deep feelings, long talks, a huge gala and a new non-profit to help people in need. Totally enjoyed this story and could not stop reading until I was done. Loved the vivid locales like the vacation. The ending was perfect.

Loved this. Was a page turner and kept you hooked with every page.
Ava is self made billionaire and is getting threats. So her dad hires her an ex navy seal as bodyguard,Alex.
They are both head strong so they are constantly clashing along with the sizzling heat between them.
As the threats are getting serious, Alex is determined to get bottom of it and protect her. Their close proximity sets them to get closer emotionally. They have hit times together.
Can Alex save her and keep her heart?
Who is behind the threats? Why?
Fast pace excellent read with suspense betrayal, witty banter and spice.

Alex and Ava had me all over this story. She is a billionaire heiress, and she came about it all on her own without her father's help so when a stalker is causing problems, he hires a bodyguard much to the dislike of Ava. Alex is alphalicious and has a heart of gold. The more time Ava finds herself with him the more her heart unfolds for him. When the trouble is solved will Ava be leaving her heart with Alex. This story is packed with drama and will have you on Alex and Ava's corner.

The story had good bones with Ava, as the smart, strong female character. Instead of living off her Daddy's money, she has her own successful tech company. When her life is threatened, the story features Alex, as a SEAL turned private security and love interest. Insert suspense and danger with self driving, out of control cars, stalkers and betrayal and it should have been a great book. However, the story dragged on with inconsequential details that slowed everything down and sometimes didn't make sense. It could have been more, but fell flat with ignored evidence and questionable situations.

Stalker Beware

When you have built your own empire from scratch it attracts attention, sometimes it may come from someone dangerous. Ava is reluctant to receive help from bodyguard Alex despite the threats she has been receiving. Their forced proximity allows for their chemistry to react, but will her stalker get to her before it can be explored? This was a fun and exciting story with great characters.

I like the concept of the story, but I hate that it kind of dragged on way too long in away. Maybe it's just me but I feel like the story could have been shorter. I'll re-read this again because I did like the story.
