The author travels the world, from Africa to Japan seeking and finding self-described Lost Tribes of Israel. He illustrates the issues facing each, although it's a commonly shared plight that the Tribes are seen as pretenders. The Tribes even fight amongst themselves (especially in Africa) for who's more truly Jewish.

The most interesting story of the author's travels is the story of Operation Moses, where the Ugandan government (who was a member of the Arab League) worked with Israel to sneak thousands of Jews out of the country during a refugee crisis, to relocate in Israel.

Definitely worth a read if you're interested in history and Judaism.

Parfitt is definitely one of my latter day heroes. His travels, discoveries and insights are fascinating. Combine this with the aritings of others in serios research into the search of the Lost Tribes and you are in for a thrill ride.
