The sixth installment in the Swindle series, in which The Man With The Plan gets a new rival . . . and the search for a missing lottery ticket becomes a hunt of epic proportions. JACKPOT: the top prize in a game or lottery; a sensational and unexpected success, stroke of luck, windfall, bounty, pay day . . . What would you do with $30,000,000? That's the question everyone in Cedarville and every town near it is asking, because right now there's an unclaimed lottery ticket worth that much -- and the money will go to whomever finds it first. Griffin Bing, The Man With The Plan, wants to be the lucky winner. But he's got competition. Darren Vader, Griffin's number-one enemy, will stop at nothing to find it. And a new kid in town, Victor Phoenix, is also in on the big hunt. He's got an advantage that Griffin would have never guessed: Griffin's own friends are helping Victor out. But why? Griffin's going to need a lot of help -- from a rowdy Doberman, a completely strange invention, and a very random set of wheels -- to hit this jackpot and win his friends back.
Gordon Korman is a Canadian author of children's and young adult fiction books. Korman's books have sold more than 30 million copies worldwide over a career spanning four decades and have appeared at number one on The New York Times Best Seller list.
I am not going to lie, I put this book down when I had about 65 pages left for a couple weeks. I was not really into the book. After just finishing the last half, my opinion on the book changed. I think that the book was okay in the end. I think quite a bit of people would like this book, they just have to stay with it because at times it is a little boring.
The Man with a Plan is out on another adventure. Griffin Bing and his team are out to find a lottery ticket worth 30 million dollars until 6:00 on October 6th, when the the ticket will be worthless. But this task isn't as easy as any of the other missions Griffin has attempted. His rival, Darren Vader, will stop at nothing to find that ticket. A new kid, Victor Phoenix, is also searching for it, and he has an advantage that Griffin wouldn't have guessed.
This is an action-packed novel for anybody who likes a few plot twists and a good mystery in general, but everyone can read this book and find it interesting.
The book was outstanding! It was fun to read because it had a lot of funny things. Also it had so many details which made it even better than it already was. It was about Ben,Griffin and Savannah who find out that there is a missing lottery ticket out somewhere in their town. I thought it could have been different is some parts. I thought some things could be more interesting in some parts. I think that fourth through sixth graders would like this book as much as I do. Gordon Korman is a great writer. Overall I loved it. This is my second favorite Gordon Korman book.
Griffin Bing convinces the gang to get back at Darren Vader for all the times he's bullied them, but the plan backfires as Griffin finds himself an outcast as the search for the owner of a mega-million lottery ticket is underway. Goofs, antics, and bruised friendships keeps the pages turning to the final outcome.
Interesting story about true friendship. It’s so tough when bullies pit friends against each other, but there is hope that they’ll all choose to do the right thing. Fun adventure and mystery!
This has to be my favorite book in the whole Swindle series. Loved it.
A deadline is approaching, one that could leave one person in the world $30 million dollars richer... or not. Our favorite group of kid schemers are back... and they're going after a missing lottery ticket that hasn't turned up in almost a year's time; if the winner doesn't collect soon, there's no money. Griffin Bing and his friends get involved, except, this time, they're not working on the plan together.
EVERYTHING we thought we knew about these kids CHANGES in this volume: * Griffin isn't the ringleader of the team's new scheme. * There's a new Man With The Plan taking over. * Griffin's reputation is going to the pits... he's now a bully?! * Plus, he's "associating" with Darren Vader, the previously sworn enemy. * And to top it off, Luthor isn't even as vicious as he always did seem... (he's more of a "sweetie", just like Savannah always said).
I mean, who knew these things could ever come about, but Gordon Korman knows how to pull out all the stops. And, man, was this book suspenseful with that deadline counting down!
I am a huge Gordon Korman fan. This was not my favorite book of his. There were so many things that happened that almost had me rolling my eyes because they were soooo unlikely. I kept thinking, "Seriously, what are the odds that...." I did enjoy the book, however I did not find it to be as action driven as his other books I have read. Some people have said that they like that it is more character driven, yet I don't see that I found myself attaching to the characters. And the way the book ended... I think Bing was waaay too forgiving and that didn't even make sense that he was able to just let it go after everything he went through. Takes more than being clever and sneaky to be a good friend.
I think this book is a fantastic book with a little bit of mystery, action and suspense. It is about a group of friends named Savanna, Logan, Pitch , Ben, and griffin. Griffin got into some trouble. Then a new kid named victor comes to there school but does not like Griffin. It is griffins plan to find out why victor doesn't like him. There is one more part to the story, a person that lost a thirty million dollars and don't know they won. It is griffins other plan to find out who has the thirty million dollar ticket.
Big $$$$. A missing lottery ticket. They have one year to turn it in. 2 weeks left. Time ticks down. A new kid who takes Griffin's spot. The crew plays a joke on Darren Vader, to humiliate him. It did work but in the end it backfired. They got into a little bit of trouble with the police. Then at the assembly, Darren calls Griffin a bully. That is why the new kid hates him. The main reason why his family moved is because he got bullied so much. You would want to move to if you got bullied so much.

This book and was released originally in 2014 and the last in the series to date in 2016. There are 18 editions of this volume currently listed on Goodreads and even though it is just over a decade since it published it is listed as out of print, fortunately the eBook is still available..
I have read over 95 books from Gordon Korman’s masterful pen. I did not read much when young because of a dual form of dyslexia, because of that I have a deep fondness for Middle Grade books, and books for tween and teens. Korman is one of the all-time masters. I set the goal of reading all his books about 2020. I have read books in all his series, and all of the standalone stories.
Not counting omnibus editions I believe that as of the summer of 2025 Korman has published 109 books. And one comes out early next year. As of the reading of this volume I am down to 11 unread books. With each that I read I am entertained and often challenged.

The about the author for this edition states:
“GORDON KORMAN’s first five books featuring Griffin Bing and his friends are Swindle, Zoobreak, Framed, Showoff, and Hideout. His other books include This Can’t Be Happening at Macdonald Hall! (published when he was fourteen); The Toilet Paper Tigers; Radio Fifth Grade; the trilogies Island, Everest, Dive, Kidnapped, and Titanic; and the series On the Run. He lives in New York with his family and can be found on the web at his website.”
I said it before and I state it again; I really did not know what to expect when I started this series. I left this series till the end for 2 main reasons. First it is the longest series to date by Korman. And Second, I am not a huge dog guy, and also not into anthropomorphic stories. I had never read the descriptions, and just kept skipping over it until it was the last series for me to start. That was my mistake, and a huge one at that. I was wrong on both concerns.
Once I started that first one I really did not want to put it down. And it took a lot of effort not to just jump to the next volume, or rip my way through the series. I read books in a few series between books 4 and 5 in this series. Again, even though it had not been that long, it was a like a visit with old friends.
Book one is described as Ocean’s 11 with kids, it lived up to that statement, and to some extent even more with each new instalment. This sixth is very different than many in the series, for after some misunderstandings, some stubbornness, and a new kid in town Griffin does not even have a plan but is soon on the outs with his team and friends. When Darren Vader gets Griffin interested in a plan, things get even worse.
This is a wonderful story about friendship, about kids standing up, and about life in a small community. Griffin Bing is the man with a plan and that usually, but this time he is almost on his own, and then teamed up with Darren which might be even worse. What starts as a plan to get even with Darren eventually comes close to costing Griffin everything that matters to him. He just did not realize it at the time.
This is a great story. It continues an amazing series. I can easily recommend it. It is another wonderful read from the master of the school story! But watch out for the garbage picking.
The sixth book of the Swindle series, Jackpot, by Gordon Korman, is about the man with the plan, Griffin Bing. Griffin and his friends are on a hunt to find a missing lottery ticket. However, when Victor Phoenix comes to town, all of Griffin's friends leave him, and join Victor's team. Now Griffin is all alone, so he joins forces with his worst enemy, Daren Vader. So then Griffin, and Daren are on the hunt for the 30 million dollar lottery ticket. Victor, and his team are not far behind Griffin and Daren. Who will find the lottery ticket first? This book is a good read for anyone in 4th-8th grade. It is very enjoyable and funny. It has a good plot and a remarkable ending. It will be good for anyone who likes mysteries. One other book that I have heard good things about is also by Gordon Korman, Restart. My friend gave a review on that book. He gave it a 10/10 and said it was his favorite book from Gordon Korman. Another good Gordon Korman book series is the Mastermind series.
The book that I decided to read as my book 8 was "Jackpot" by Gordon Korman. This story is about a young boy, Griffin Bing aka "The Man With a Plan", who has yet another crazy and adventurous plan. A 30 million dollar lottery ticket has gone missing but that is not the biggest problem for Griffin. There is a new kid in town and he is "stealing" all of Griffin's friend which is also his team for putting plans into action. Griffin has to go around 3 towns in Long Island searching for a lottery ticket on his lonesome. Meanwhile, the "team" is also searching for the ticket without Griffin, with the new kid Victor, and even Griffin's arch nemesis Darren! Throughout this action packed adventure, the 2 groups search for the ticket while learning new things about themselves and others. I rated this book as a three for a couple different reasons. I did like this book a lot but I did not think that it was as good as some of Gordon Korman's other writing. This story had a decent plot but I felt that it was a little slow. If i could change anything about the book, it would be for it to have a longer climax and a shorter exposition. Although "Jackpot" was not my favorite book, I still enjoyed it and I think many other people would enjoy it too. I would recommend this story to younger readers because it was not very challenging. "Jackpot" also had a lot of good content and it was one great adventure that I hope many people will have the chance to read!
Wining a lottery is something not certain, no one can tell for sure, regardless of “logical, or rational thinking– i have been a big part of those who thought winning a lottery is just luck rather than spiritual insight, and my quest and eagerness in wining the lottery kept pushing me in realizing this fact and today, my story has changed after i won a lottery worth £2million, i was browsing online sometime, when i saw a post where a lady was testifying on how an African wizard ( Dr Amend ) helped her cast a lottery spell in winning a lottery and immediately i contacted him for same purpose and he did exactly what i wanted and i also won. To those who’ve been playing lottery with consistent trial for a long time and haven’t won should contact Dr Amend. You can connect with him via website below:
In this book a group of friends is investing a lottery ticket worth millions that won a while ago but it never was cashed in. About a week before the ticket expires they decided that they wanted to find it and try to cash in some of the money. They investigate people who have been known to buy lottery tickets at the store that it was purchased from and they search a few that have been know to be hoarders or people that lose things.
This book is a great read. It grabs your attention page after page. This book is full of so manny twists and turns it will make your head spin. Although this book is a little on the shorter side it is still a great book for almost all ages.
200 pages. Another book in the Swindle series with more crazy adventures of the crew. This time the man with a plan decides to find a lottery ticket that has only a little while before it will expire. It has been almost a year and no one has claimed the winnings. A new boy comes to town named Victor and he is pretty sneaky. He weasels his way into the crew and manages to oust Griffin in the process. This one seemed to take forever to read and lacked as much excitement as the others, but fans of Swindle will still enjoy it. As usual it has a full cast of characters and lots of drama. Recommended for grades 4-5.
I liked this book because I really felt the rush when there were almost running out of time to turn in the lottery ticket. The book was very interesting because they were trying to find a lost lottery ticket but they were running out of time and also how Victor was being mean to Griffin and he didn't know why. I was surprised at the end when Victor finally said why he was being so mean. This book had a lot going on and I didn't want to stop reading so I could find out what happens next.

I really enjoyed reading this book. The characters were amazing, the plot, the problem. Everything was just perfect in my opinion. The characters were trying to find a lost lottery ticket worth $30,000,000 dollars. The deadline for the ticket to be cashed ends in a month and they are trying to find it. They check through the records of everyone who bought a ticket that day, and eventually they find it and get it cashed 2 seconds before the deadline ends.
Picked this up in a book sale and found I was missing some information about the realtionships of the characters but did not find this to be a hinderance.
While the problem to be solved, both in relationships and in the hunt for a great financial end, makes for intriguing reading, the use of unique characters and circumstances makes for a great read.
Will be passing this on to a teacher of middles schoolers.
1. Like I said, I'm a little bit underwhelmed by the series right now, which is mostly on me. BUT, I did quite like this one, especially Logan spending so much of his time with Griffin because that was adorable. Even his parents got used to him!
2. Yet another non-crime, ft. relationship drama between the kids and some slight (like, very mild) explorations of bullying. It's a pretty interesting read, all things considered.
Title: Jackpot A Swindle Mystery Author: Gordon Korman Category: Mystery
Do you like dogs, well if you do then I recommend this book you’ll love it! I thought it was excellent, especially In this story griffin the protagonist tries to earn his friends back with a lot of help. It kept me interested from beginning to end.
What you should do is buy this book because of how good it was.
Honestly, I didn't realize this was part of a series until I came to Goodreads to do the review. It flows so well as an independent novel that I didn't think it was part of a series. Anyway, Griffin is a very interesting figure. He is a self-centered logistician. That's what I would categorize him as. He is the Man with the Plan, and very proud of it. But he doesn't realize he needs his friends until it is (almost) too late. This shows Korman's ability to create new worlds.
I really liked this book it was about the 6 kids trying to find a missing lottery ticket for 33 million dollars. They check the security cameras at the store the ticket was bought from and wrote down suspects. They go around town searching for the people who could of been the owner of the ticket. read the book to find out if they find it.
This book I really enjoyed reading this book. This book kept me reading just so I can figure out what happens at the end. The book was suspenseful throughout the whole entire book. After I finished reading this book I felt this is one of the better book that I read . At the end this book was great all around.
I normally do not enjoy fictional books but this book I enjoyed even if it is fictional. Overall the whole hunt for the 30,000,000 dollars was fun to see the characters go through all of this. I would like to read more books by Korman because of the way he writes his books.
Griffin Bing, the man with the plan, is determined to find a 30 million dollar unclaimed lottery ticket. He gets help from a doberman, a strange invention, and a hippie. Will they be successful? https://youtu.be/odIlIbiVJs0
A group of friends Griffen the ¨man with the plan ¨ and his team of friends go to look for the famous lottery ticket before Darren Vader goes ot to find it. Darren Vader got so close to getting it but Griffen and his group of friends snatch it from his hands.
I am blown away. Gordon Korman can fit so many emotions and completely turn the tides and reveal so many truths in just 200 pages. Almost anything is possible with the right plan- and with a Gordan Korman book.
This book has a wonderful message for young people about bullyling, making friends, what it means to be a friend and forgiveness. All this wrapped up in a mystery the youngsters work to solve. This book is a must for young students everywhere.
It's been a while since I've read this series, but this was a fun book. I struggled to get into it at first, and I wish there was more character development, but the details of Griffin's plans always pull me in, even when they are super exaggerated and not very realistic.
